So it should be either ported to another XML module or should get
a dependency on python-xml again.

This is ecause you have no campaign installed. Your report actually
covers two issues:

 (1) The wesnoth package should probably recommend at least *some*
 campaigns
 (2) If no campaign is available and the users tries to start one,
wesnoth should notify users that no campaign is available instead
of going on like nothing happened.

Eduard, I agree we should remove this. It's dead upstream (last release/
commits from 2003), hasn't been part of Etch either and will only
distract people from the properly maintained and reviewed FUSE code in the
kernel.

If you're okay with removing it, I'll reassign to ftp.debian.org.

This is not reproducible both with Etch and unstable.

Do you run any proprietary 3D modules from ATI or Nvidia?

I have built/installed bind9.4.2-4 from testing and will let you know
whether this fixes the problem. The build-deps for bind9.4.2-8 from
sid conflict with util-linux.

Could you check and see if the problem still exists with bind9.4.2

libsynfig0 0.61.08-2 introduced strict dependencies for packages
depending on it, which is synfigstudio. synfigstudio 0.61.08-1 builds
against this version, so synfigstudio should not have any more problems
with libsynfig symbols from now on.

Package: ht
Version: 2.0.12-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 6.6(4)

ht's recent introduction of a /usr/bin/ht symlink would be a great
idea if not for the fact that tex4ht has longstanding prior claim to
the path for a non-interactive helper script (albeit one that I
suspect has few actual users). As such, could you please revert the
symlink, at least for now? (You're welcome to reinstate it if you can
convince tex4ht's maintainer [X-Debbugs-Cc:ed] to drop or rename its
/usr/bin/ht, at which point a versioned Conflicts: declaration would
be in order.)

Thanks!

We actually do not know anything. We do not even know that a DOS
actually occured. Not hard data have even been presented to us. The
number of stable subscription has been raising again before we change
unstable. The number of machine running unstable is so small that it
cannot do a difference. The loss of stable subscriptions can be
explained by the Winter break, a temporary network issue, or anything
else. If a DOS did occur, it would take down every web service hosted
on gluck, not just popcon and we would probably hear from it.

Spreading the load is a good idea in general, and I welcome it, but let
us not jump on undue conclusions.
Cheers,

Hi Martin,

I created a patch that should fix this bug. I removed the creation of
/var/isns from the source code, added the creation of /var/lib/isns to
debian/dirs, and changes that code accordingly.

HTH,
Meike

PS: I noticed you debian/dirs contains /usr/bin but you don't seem to
actually use that directory, so I guess that could be removed.

Bug#471865: bind9 dies with assertion failure adb.c:2617

2008-03-20 Thread Ben Holt
Package: bind9
Version: 9.3.4-2etch1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

bind9 dies with the following showing in the logs:

Mar 20 03:51:02 firewall named[5714]: adb.c:2617: INSIST(bucket == (-1)) failed
Mar 20 03:51:02 firewall named[5714]: exiting (due to assertion failure)

This has happened three times, all in the last five days. Prior to this bind9
had been running stable for months. No recent configuration changes
have been made.

This instance of bind9 provides local DNS lookups and is master for 4 public
facing slave servers for 17 domains. It does
not provide public lookups and is firewalled from the internet except for the
slave servers.

I have found bug #445781, however this appears to be a seperate issue with a
similar result.

Bug#462268: [Popcon-developers] Bug#462268: i dont understand this...

Hi,

On Thursday 20 March 2008 00:11, you wrote:

I must say I'm not surprised. We basically *know* (*) this is because the
clients are DOSing the server at the same time, so why be surprised if this
comes back, when the code, which prevented this (poorly), was remmoved?

(*) I forgot why we knew this, maybe its in this bug log even, but there was a
very plausible explanation, like >500 machines submitting per hour, all at
the full hour, and the apache config allows 500 connections. Something like
this.

The solution definitly involves making the clients submit their data at random
time.

I suggest not to wait 20 days to take action. popcon-stats are widely used,
and currently people think debian has way less (popcon) users, because our
popcon system is broken.

Package: f-spot
Version: 0.4.1-4
Severity: grave

Upgrading f-spot makes some extensions unavailable (the ones shipped
with F-Spot, but strangely not the external ones such as
DevelopInUfraw and RawPlusJpeg).

I'm pasting from IRC (with only minor edits), here's some context:

- broken = the "Export To" menu has an empty submenu;
- rebuilding DB = mautil -v --registry ~/.gnome2/f-spot reg-build

With f-spot 0.4.1-3, the external extensions are operational, but
the built-ins are not. (built-ins = exporters)
Lo-lan-do: do you get assembly warnings again, right?
 Mono.Addins.Serialization...
 Not even
Lo-lan-do: try rebuild of DB again
Lo-lan-do: after upgrading to -4 it should be broken again, it seems
to be an in issue of mono-addins, but knowing the f-spot code base I am pretty
sure f-spot is fucked
the code has such bad error handling, never saw something like that
last time I saw such code was ifolder from novell
monodevelop is extremly clean, mono-addins I dont remember
After a DB rebuild, all extensions work
 and now upgrade to -4
 should be broken again
* Lo-lan-do upgrades back to 0.4.1-4
 any change AFAIK breaks it
Correct. Built-ins are broken again (but still no warning, and
external extensions still not broken)
 I'll give it a go.
Lo-lan-do: could you please file a bugreport about this case? the
other one was about ABI breakage of flickrnet which is closed now
 Lo-lan-do: make it RC

I didn't have any crashes today either, made a dozen of calls. I'm

to crash quite often, though not every time. Will give it a few more days.

No. not related to that upgrade. But this version is broken:

So at the same time libqt3-mt quit providing weak symbol aliases,
libkdecore.so.4 quit using the glibc symbols directly. That's why
going back to 3.5.8.dfsg.1-7 fixes the problem even without upgrading

Which leads to the question - what happened in both these packages?

Hi,
please build gnome-rdp with libvte0.16-cil instead of libvte2.0-cil. The
latter will disappear soonish when gtk-sharp 2.12.0/gnome-sharp
2.20.0/gnome-desktop-sharp 2.20.1 are uploaded to unstable.

Attached patch makes it build with the new version, you only need to
include it and change the build dependency in debian/control once
libvte0.16-cil has moved from experimental to unstable ;)

Thanks

Bug#471841: new /usr/bin/ht symlink vs. existing tex4ht package

2008-03-20 Thread Aaron M. Ucko

Thanks!

I just did a few calls, incoming and outgoing, and didn't see twinkle
crashing. All calls were connected bi-directional just as they should
be.

I hope it'll stay that way.

Twinkle 1:1.2-1 on a current Debian unstable.

Maybe a solution would be to make that file owned by root:apt-cacher-ng

Hi Philipp et al,

my first idea to address this issue, was to modify/patch NM to not
deconfigure the device when NM is stopped and make it possible for NM to
pick up the existing connection when NM is started again (that's also
the reason why I merged 432322 and 433087, as it would have solved both
issues).

I talked about this with upstream, and he said for connections like
ppp/vpn/wireless it would be almost impossible, for ethernet connections
maybe but also only with considerable effort.

I will take this approach for now: restart NM in postinst (instead of
stop in prerm, start in postinst). I'll do the same for dbus.
This should minimise the downtime and in case the upgrade process get's
interrupted in between keep the machine accessible via the network.
It's not a perfect solution but I hope RMs will consider it appropriate.

> And is #433087 (network-manager: Behaves poorly when dbus daemon is

As said, I first wanted to address this differently. For now I unmerged
the bugs again and will handle them separately.

Cheers,
Michael

This seems overly complex: we could just replace _both_ lines by

  DAY=$(bash -c 'echo $(($RANDOM % 7))')

Already fixed with the 3.0.0-3 upload, thanks.

Note that I believe the fix in version 3.0.0-3 is wrong. The .so file
should be in the -dev package. the .so.X.Y files should not. See the
shared library packaging guide,
http://www.netfort.gr.jp/~dancer/column/libpkg-guide/libpkg-guide.html>.

Happy hacking,

I built it locally on my laptop (also using sbuild), it also failed:

You can't. From time to time (every 1-2 months), I go through the bugs I
filed, and see if the build still fails, in case packages have been
fixed without the bugs being closed.

Sorry, should have discussed it first. I confirmed the bug on that
version too, and I get it on every second call or so. Since others seem
to experience this too, it really doesn't seem fit for release.

There is really no reason to add another broken VoIP client in addition
to the other half-baked SIP products we have (like Wengo which also
crashes constantly). Can we get something based on Telepathy already please?

That said, feel free to lower severity. And it would be nice to have
Twinkle working, it's the only KDE-based alternative at the moment.

Before November 22, 2007 erlang was never tried on lebrun (or another
