It is for official architectures but paer is still waiting for a
vmsplice() fixed kernel...
(And now with the openssl mess, we actually have access to nothing)

Bug#479192: Request for sponsoring upload new version

2008-05-13 Thread Pavel Vinogradov
I'm update oval-interpreter package to new upstream version 5.4.2
and fix #479192 and #450243 bugs.
New upstream version is backward compatibility with 5.3.x and it works
fine for me on definitions created for 5.3.x.

New version available in project svn at
svn://svn.debian.org/svn/oval/tags/ovaldi-5.4.2-1

Bug#481145: roundcube-core: needs versioned dependency on tinymce

2008-05-13 Thread Michael Pitra
Package: roundcube-core
Version: 0.1.1-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

If tinymce is installed in the latest version (3.0.8-1), then roundcube is not
usable when sending
mails; the editor functions do not work. With the old version (2.1.1.1-1) this
is not the case. What
causes the bug was not discovered yet, maybe the following log entry is helpful:

Package: libgimp-perl
Version: 2.0.dfsg+2.2pre1.dfsg-4+b1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I noticed a problem during my upgrade to perl 5.10 today. (I had
postponed the perl transition until now, waiting for a compatible
version of libgimp-perl.)

The new libgimp-perl package created these two (empty) directories:
/usr/lib/perl/5.10
/usr/share/perl/5.10

These locations are in @INC and should normally be symlinks to "5.10.0",
created by perl-base. I think it is a mistake that they are included as
directories in libgimp-perl. (I hope I understand this correctly; I am
not a perl expert.)

I would like to add that this bug broke perl completely for me and I
therefore had to manually restore the two symlinks to get debconf/dpkg
working again. I cannot judge if this justifies a higher severity or if
it was only an unfortunate coincidence for my particular timing of the
perl transition.

Thank you for your time.

Severity: grave

xpdf-japanese installs CMAP files in
/usr/share/fonts/cmap/adobe-japan1 etc, but libpoppler looks at
/usr/share/poppler.

I need to install the following symlinks in order to use the adobe
CMAP files.

$ ls -l  /usr/share/poppler/cidToUnicode/Adobe-Japan1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 34 2008-01-18 19:53 Adobe-Japan1 ->

/usr/share/poppler/cidToUnicode/Adobe-Japan1 ->
/usr/share/xpdf/japanese/Adobe-Japan1.cidToUnicode

Please either make poppler look at the old location or install some
kind of symlinking.

To be fair, this is already fixed upstream in pygame 1.8.

Can you try rebuilding the contents from
xpcom/reflect/xptcall/src/md/unix replacing -Os with -O0 and -O2 in
config/autoconf.mk and see if it gets any better ?

Note: you don't need to build the packages, you can stop on the build
target, cd into dist/bin and run regxpcom from there.

Also note that if it was possible to have direct access to an hppa host,
it would probably be easier for me ;)

Cheers,

Mike

Package: libxmlada
Version: 3.0-3
Severity: serious
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: qa-ftbfs-20080506 qa-ftbfs
Justification: FTBFS on i386

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on
i386.

This rebuild was done with gcc 4.3 instead of gcc 4.2, because gcc 4.3
is now the default on most architectures (even if it's not the case on
i386 yet). Consequently, many failures are caused by the switch to gcc
4.3.
If you determine that this failure is caused by gcc 4.3, feel free to
downgrade this bug to 'important' if your package is only built on i386,
and this bug is specific to gcc 4.3 (i.e the package builds fine with
gcc 4.2).

Bug#481119: Additional info for bug #481119

2008-05-13 Thread Javier Fernández-Sanguino Peña

Reviewing other bug reports (specially #45 which seems related) I've
found a pointer to
http://live.gnome.org/GnomeScreensaver/FrequentlyAskedQuestions#head-d50bc17e7d6f3a51c4715f02c657195e80e26c2c
on how to generate debug information.

I'm attaching to this bug report to samples of debug output:

- gscreen-debug.ERR.txt.gz: in this one the value of lock_dialog_theme is
'default', I started up gnome-screensaver in debug mode, locked it up
inmediately using 'gnome-screensaver-command -l' and then pressed shift
  three times.

No dialog appears (but you can see that it goes through the unlock process)
at all and I can not login. I end up the process killing it from a vty.

- gscreen-debug.OK.txt.gz: in this case the value of lock_dialog_theme is set
to 'system'. I follow the same procedure as above but when I press a key I
inmediately get the login prompt and I'm able to unlock the screen. I
killed the process from the terminal it was started from.

Just in case this debug information is of use.

Regards

Javier

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3386511 May 13 21:02 initrd.img-2.6.26-rc2-ixp4xx

The 2.6.26-rc2 test image is available from

Bug#481119: gnome-screensaver: cannot unlock screen after upgrade

2008-05-13 Thread Javier Fernández-Sanguino Peña

Package: gnome-screensaver
Version: 2.22.2-1
Priority: serious

After upgrading from gnome-screensaver version 2.20.0-2+b1 to 2.22.2-1
I've found that whenever the screensaver starts up (due to the timeout
defined) and locks the screen I'm not presented the unlock dialog.

All I can see is (temporarily) the mouse but the screen remains blank. No
change (save disabling locking) in gnome-screensaver's preference tool has
been able to fix this issue.

When I've found the screen to be disabled I have only been able to unlock it
by going from the X session to a VTY session and manually killing the
screensaver process. Of course, a user that has no such knowledge can only
"fix" this situation by killing (Ctrl+Alt+Del) the X session altogether and
potentially losing all his data.

I've poked into Gnome's registry and changed the value of
/apps/gnome-screensaver/lock_dialog_theme from 'default' (which I understand
from the schema that is the default value) to a blank value and *then* I'm
presented a dialog to unlock the screen. I've tried changing it to 'system'
and the dialog is also presented.. I'm not sure, however, if this is the proper
fix for this issue.

I think this behaviour (which probably only happens on upgrades) is
completely unacceptable. If the default value of any of the keys in
gnome-screensaver has been changed so as to make previous values incorrect
then the program should detect this and (transparently to the user) fix the
issue. Thus the 'serious' severity.

Version: 4.4.0-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

There is no html files in the package, which should have contained the actual
documentation.

I know Trolltech recently changed their package so that a "make doc" is
neccessary to get the documentation generated.

when I ran it inside screen I didn't get the prompt at all.

something is fishy with this prompt.

/var/lib/dpkg/info/libssl0.9.8.postinst configure "0.9.8g-8"

looks like it gets stuck on the line

You should be getting a debconf prompt _somewhere_. The original
submitter's problem was that he didn't see it.

but when I use mutt with kernel 2.6.25-1-amd64 (package debian) it

Bug#481072: dk-filter reliably crashes upon connection from postfix

2008-05-13 Thread Mike Markley
I'm interpreting this to mean that it doesn't crash until Postfix
actually makes the Milter callout to dk-filter; is that correct? If so,
then it's probably not an issue with the formatting of the keys file, as
that is read on startup.

Would you be able to grab an strace?

Maybe he's simply suggesting dining at the Guolizhuang Restaurant in

Regarding the insult in the code, if dining at the Guolizhuang

You should be getting a debconf prompt _somewhere_. The original
submitter's problem was that he didn't see it.

(Submitting a new report even though this is related to #476274,
because since the program now runs, it's probably not "grave" anymore,
and it's somewhat a separate issue.)

When I try to install the spambayes 1.0.4-4 package using Aptitude, it
now correctly tries to compile the spambayes code for Python 2.5, but
gives me an error similar to that reported by Drew Hess in #476274:

My wild guess is that the debian/patches/fix_import_future.dpatch
stuff that Drew Hess mentioned re the Ubuntu version might not have
been included in this version of the Debian package.

When I run sb_filter.py, it seems to function, despite postinst
failing. I don't know for sure whether it's actually working or just
pretending to work.

Bug#479188: libxerces27-dev -> libxerces-c2-dev for anon-proxy

2008-05-13 Thread Jay Berkenbilt

Hello. I haven't heard anything yet on bug 479188 which requests
replacing your build dependency on libxerces27-dev with one on
libxerces-c2-dev. I know that bug reports sometimes don't get
properly delivered or get overlooked, so I thought I'd check in to
make sure you had received the bug report. Since this is an RC bug,
I'll probably go ahead and prepare an NMU this weekend if I haven't
heard anything. All the other packages have built without incident
after the change, so it really should be a simple matter of just
updating the build dependency.

Hello. I thought I had mentioned this before, but if I did, I didn't
update the bug. I just wanted to let you know, in case you had

should therefore now be possible for you to take care of
oval-interpreter's xerces transition. Thanks!

Bug#481098: rdiff-backup 1.1.5 (etch): Danger, Stay Away!

2008-05-13 Thread Arno Wagner
Package: rdiff-backup
Version: 1.1.5-4
Severity: grave

Just to summarize, so nobody else gets bitten: The maintainer
has badly screwed up and included an unsupported experimental
version (1.1.5) in etch (stable). This version is not compatible
with the current upstream stable (1.0.5) or development (1.1.15)
versions of rdiff-backup. This means you cannot back up a Debian
testing machine, a machine with a different Linux distro or
a machine with a different OS to from/to a Debain stable machine
if you install the rdiff-backup package from Debian etch. You
may also find that you cannot access your old backups made with
etch when you upgrade to lenny.

So while the maintainer is bitching around, refuses to clean
up his own mess and generally damages the reputation of Debian,
I suggest installing the 1.1.15 version from the original site
here:

http://www.nongnu.org/rdiff-backup/

Note that you cannot install the package from lenny, since it
requires Python 2.5 for some reason. The upstream 1.1.15 package
is happy with Python 2.4. and rdiff-backup 1.1.15 installs cleanly
on etch with it. You need the Python and librsync header files
(python-dev, librsync-dev) but that is basically it.

I recommend installing with prefix /usr/local as described
in the README and to lock rdiff-backup in the uninstalled
state in the Debian package manager.

This is not a real issue. As it is a plugin, it will get these symbols
from the binary it is loaded into.

The root cause is libtool, which adds a SONAME to plugins while it
should not, but in the end there’s not much you can do about it.

Bug#481083: invoking vym blocks

2008-05-13 Thread Ralf Treinen
Package: vym
Version: 1.10.0-1.1
Severity: serious

Invoking vym just blocks (no gui is launched). Here are the last lines
of an "strace vym" :

socket(PF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_IP) = 22
setsockopt(22, SOL_SOCKET, SO_REUSEADDR, [1], 4) = 0
setsockopt(22, SOL_TCP, TCP_NODELAY, [1], 4) = 0
fcntl(22, F_SETFD, FD_CLOEXEC) = 0
connect(22, {sa_family=AF_INET, sin_port=htons(631),
sin_addr=inet_addr("134.157.168.55")}, 16

seems to try to connect to some cups server. Anyway vym should come up even
when cups is not running. I have a mindmap from a previous vym session
saved in vym's own format which I now cannot read!

For that reason, saving mindmaps in some obscure binary format (instead
of some text format) is IMHO a stupidity.

Bug#481080: No virtualbox-ose-modules for amd64 kernel

2008-05-13 Thread Vsevolod
Package: virtualbox-ose
Version: 1.5.6-dfsg-7
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 2.2.1

On amd64, virtualbox-ose recommends virtualbox-ose-modules package, but there
is no virtualbox-ose-modules package for
amd64 and there is no virtualbox-ose-modules-2.6-amd64 in Debian. This is
violaton of debian policy 2.2.1.

VirtualBox is useless without kernel module, so amd64 users should install
virtualbox-ose-source and compile kernel
module with module-assistant. virtualbox-ose-source is not even listed as
recommended for virtualbox-ose.

My proposal: virtualbox-ose must require at least one of the package:
virtualbox-ose-modules or
virtualbox-ose-source. Of course, having virtualbox-ose-modules-2.6-amd64 will
be even better.

removing the platform line from install.rdf (in the iceowl-extension
package) will workaround this until i fixed this.

2008-05-13 Thread Sander Marechal
Package: iceowl-extension
Version: 0.8-2
Followup-For: Bug #480534

Hello,

I suffer from the same problem. I recently upgraded from Etch to Lenny and found
out that the Lightning plugin doesn't work in Icedove 2. I installed
iceowl-extension
but it was not listed in icedove. I removed it, installed iceowl-extension 0.8
from sid
but still no addon listed in icedove.

As per your last e-mail I build iceowl-extension_0.8-2 from source but still
there is no
addon listed in icedove. Just to make sure that none of my existing settings
were
interfering, I created a brand new user on my system and started icedove for
the first time.
Still there was no iceowl plugin listed.

Bug#481072: dk-filter reliably crashes upon connection from postfix

2008-05-13 Thread Peter Rabbitson
Package: dk-filter
Version: 1.0.0.dfsg-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After setting up multiple key dk-filter with postfix I started experiencing the
following problems any time postfix attempted to contact the milter:

May 13 09:19:06 Arzamas postfix/cleanup[24894]: warning: milter
inet:127.0.0.1:20028: can't read SMFIC_EOH reply packet header: Success

END-OF-MESSAGE from localhost[127.0.0.1]: 4.7.1 Service unavailable - try again
later; from= to= proto=ESMTP helo=

I executed the milter in no-forking mode and this is what I got:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# /usr/bin/dk-filter -u dk-filter -P
/var/run/dk-filter/dk-filter.pid -p inet:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -c nofws -d

dk-filter: util.c:47: dk_sterilize: Assertion `str != ((void *)0)' failed.
Aborted

If I go back to the -s /etc/mail/arzamas_dk setting and remove -k, everything
works as expected. I assume that dk-filter can not cope with the way I have
formatted my dk.keys. Please advise

Here are my setup details:

* both postfix and dk-filter are latest unaltered packages from debian testing
* no milter options are present in main.cf ( postconf -n | grep milter returns
empty )
* the milter is specified as '-o smtpd_milters=inet:127.0.0.1:20028' at the

Why is the 04_makefile_no_depmod patch commented out? I really
believe it should be reinstated: calling depmod causes many problems,
notably if one is using the -l option of module-assistant (compiling
for a kernel version other than the one currently running).

Attached is the patch updated for the present version.

Why is the 04_makefile_no_depmod patch commented out? I really
believe it should be reinstated: calling depmod causes many problems,
notably if one is using the -l option of module-assistant (compiling
for a kernel version other than the one currently running).

Attached is the patch updated for the present version.

I thought make-kpkg should only create .deb files that can be installed later
(it usually works this way).

I thought make-kpkg should only create .deb files that can be installed later

Why is the 04_makefile_no_depmod patch commented out? I really
believe it should be reinstated: calling depmod causes many problems,
notably if one is using the -l option of module-assistant (compiling
for a kernel version other than the one currently running).

Attached is the patch updated for the present version.

Bug#481059: qt4-doc: Package is empty except pictures

2008-05-13 Thread Fathi BOUDRA
Hi,

please read the Debian changelog:
* Split html documentation in qt4-doc-html package.

Now, you have 2 packages:
- qt4-doc, it contains documentation in the new help format (sqlite database)
- qt4-doc-html, it contains documentation in the html format.

Qt assistant use the new help format and Qt assistant_adp use html format.

I'll wait for your feedback before closing the bug.

cheers,

Fathi

Bug#481059: qt4-doc: Package is empty except pictures

2008-05-13 Thread Esben Mose Hansen
Package: qt4-doc
Version: 4.4.0-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

There is no html files in the package, which should have contained the actual
documentation.

I know Trolltech recently changed their package so that a "make doc" is
neccessary to get the documentation generated.

The postinst on unstable doesn't run regxpcom. Can you try to run it by hand?

It really looks like this pointer is totally wrong. If the same code built
with gcc 4.2 works, my guess would be that the nsXPTCStubBase::Stubn stack
is not 64 bytes anymore with gcc 4.3, as assumed by the assembly code...

I have already prepared the package[0] but I was trying to fix warnings
from dpkg-shlibdeps:

debian/epiphany-extension-gwget/usr/lib/epiphany-gecko/2.22/extensions/libgwgetextension.so

I fixed this kind of warnings but not the ones related to src/ directory
because it would need many modifications in the upstream source. David:
could you please take a look at this issue?

Cheers,

Great, closing the bug. (and taking note that there may be other reasonf

Bug#480653: (no subject)

2008-05-13 Thread Omry Yadan

I have the same problem.

I tried to debug the file

/var/lib/dpkg/info/libssl0.9.8.postinst

by adding prints, and running it with :

/var/lib/dpkg/info/libssl0.9.8.postinst configure "0.9.8g-8"

looks like it gets stuck on the line

db_go | true

debugging further is beyond me.

hope this helps.

Then it's a different (and known) problem.

I'm not sure what autobuilders are, however on
http://buildd.debian.org/pkg.cgi?pkg=aegis I can see some succesfull
build (ia64 and m68k). Is it the right page?

If I'm not wrong pbuilder need to be run as root, because it need to
populate /dev/.

On the other hand Aegis is not supposed to be invoked by root.

I've looked in the past at fixing the problem of running the testsuite
under pbuilder.

*If* there is interest I can look at it again, however I may need help
From someone with a good knowledge of pbuilder and/or fakeroot.

A change-set related to this issue has been integrated the (upstream)
development branch, maybe it can be backported.

I'll investigate.

emacs guys, I was asked in a previous bug (#427763) to byte-compile the
cmake extension, the policy mandates a dependency upon emacs which is
silly, and depending upon emacsen-common breaks the whole thing. A
pre-depends would be insane, WHY ON EARTH is the emacs policy so horribly
broken ? Until someone answers that, cmake will stay in the previous state
with byte-compilation, and without any emacs dependency.

This is actually more weird than I expected.

The package properly builds on my system. However, it fails to build
in pbuilder (and will therefore fail to build on autobuilders).

So, trying to reproduce the failure means that you *have* to build the
package with pbuilder.

Which is why I asked you the contents of your cairo directory before
trying to fix the issue.

In all cases, the culprit seems to be python-central; packages using
python-support (like pygtk) didn't look affected on your system.

How to reproduce:
1. install asp.net2-examples,
2. start xsp2 in /usr/share/asp.net2-demos
3. start browser and surf to http://yourip:8080/ (seems working)
4. click on ANY example of the 2.0 release and read the following error:
"Error 505: Server Error in '/' Application - Input string was not in
correct format"

Simply uninstall libgdiplus and start ANY 2.0 application and you will
see it.

In my opinion this dependency is more rudimentary because also xsp2
should depend on it.

Roland

--- Begin Message ---
Package: libffi-dev
Version: 3.0.5-1.0
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

Because all the builds (native and bi-/tri-arch) install headers into
/usr/include, /usr/include/ffi.h may wind up failing to correspond to
the actual architecture of interest. In particular, on amd64,
/usr/include/ffi.h winds up #define-ing X86 rather than the correct
X86_64, breaking anything that builds against it. (ctypes catches the
problem thanks to its test suite, but other reverse dependencies will
require binNMUs.)

The best way to fix this problem would arguably be to arrange for the
non-native versions of ffi.h to wind up in
/usr/include/$(host_triplet); however, that approach turns out to be
somewhat cumbersome, particularly given that the top-level makefile
neglects to propagate includedir or includesdir. :-/

Alternatively, it suffices to edit src/x86/ffitarget.h to honor
__x86_64__ unconditionally, either by flipping the target
specification (as it already does for the combination of X86_64 and
__i386__) or by deconditionalizing the existing check for __x86_64__
further down:

--- libffi-3.0.5.orig/src/x86/ffitarget.h
+++ libffi-3.0.5/src/x86/ffitarget.h
@@ -74,7 +74,7 @@
 #define FFI_TYPE_SMALL_STRUCT_1B (FFI_TYPE_LAST + 1)
 #define FFI_TYPE_SMALL_STRUCT_2B (FFI_TYPE_LAST + 2)

-#if defined (X86_64) || (defined (__x86_64__) && defined (X86_DARWIN))
+#if defined (X86_64) || (defined (__x86_64__) /* && defined (X86_DARWIN) */)
 #define FFI_TRAMPOLINE_SIZE 24
 #define FFI_NATIVE_RAW_API 0
 #else

In principle, this issue could also affect other architectures, but
AFAICT configure doesn't actually set different target names for any
of them at present.

(You could also simply install the native build last rather than
first, but that would break builds for amd64 on i386 in the same
fashion that native amd64 builds currently break unless you also fix
ffitarget.h as described above.)

At any rate, could you please fix the bug and (once a fixed build has
hit the archive) request binNMUs for libffi5's reverse dependencies on
amd64?

Thanks!

How about making libversion-perl a transitional package depending on
