Package: findimagedupes
Version: 2.7-2
Severity: normal

Running findimagedupes in an up-to-date sid system gives:

/usr/bin/perl: symbol lookup error:
/usr/lib/findimagedupes/lib/auto/findimagedupes/findimagedupes.so: undefined
symbol: Perl_Tstack_sp_ptr

Recompiling against perl 5.10 makes it work again, albeit with the
message:

v-string in use/require non-portable at /usr/bin/findimagedupes line 25.

Debian release.

Many thanks for your work on findimagedupes. I'd recommend that you
put always the latest version at your web page to enable me to pick
the latest and greatest available code for the Debian package.

You neither need to debug the serial ISA controller of a icon over the coaxial

Software is unusuable in ForkDaemon mode because you force running as

 recommanded way of running bitlbee.

So, how does this make the software unusable? This is just a
warning. This socket is not important at all for normal BitlBee in use.
In fact, I'm not sure if there's anything that uses this socket so far.
It's just there so future packages could maybe use it to send IPC
commands to automatically restart the master daemon, for example.

IOW, you just blew up a little bit of syslog noise into a bug that could
throw BitlBee out of the next Debian release. :-)

Btw, bitlbee has a User = directive in his configuration file, so i
guess setting the user in the init script is useless and misleading.

Yep, that one wasn't there yet when the init script was written (2
years ago). I got a patch here that switches to using this instead of
letting start-stop-daemon do this, that'll solve the problem.

I'll do an upload soonish.

But that shouldn't break it. Could you run the script with '-x'.

Hi,

It seems that binaries like ntpq and ntpdc are linked to both openssl
and libreadline. openssl is licensed under a BSD-like with advertisment
clause license and libreadline is licensed under the GPL. And those
2 conflict. There doesn't seem to be an exception for libreadline to
link against openssl, and it's unlikely since it's GNU software.

There are atleast 2 relevant bugs about this upstream:
http://bugs.ntp.org/931
http://bugs.ntp.org/952

And a document:
http://support.ntp.org/Dev/LineEditingLibraries

Upstream atleast seem to want to add support for libedit, which is
under the 3 clause BSD license, and editline which is readline
replacement that is under a license simular to a BSD license.

Kurt

Bug#486221: phpgroupware-filemanager: Zero file size in upload.

I've tried and reproduce the issue, and indeed, there's a problem, for all
uploaded files, due to the new restriction on open_basedir introduced since
1:0.9.16.012+dfsg-2.

As uploaded files are first copied to /tmp, and it's not in the open_basedir
patch, uploads cannot successfully complete.

Unfortunately, phpGroupware's filemanager won't test the uploaded files
parameter sent to the form for errors (probably ancient code before PHP 4.2.0
:( ).

I'll try to provide a patch ASAP.

In between, I suggest that you change /etc/phpgroupware/apache.conf in order to
add /tmp to the open_basedir settings like :
php_admin_value open_basedir
/usr/share/phpgroupware/:/var/lib/phpgroupware/files/:/var/lib/phpgroupware/sessions/:/etc/phpgroupware/:/tmp
instead of :
php_admin_value open_basedir
/usr/share/phpgroupware/:/var/lib/phpgroupware/files/:/var/lib/phpgroupware/sessions/:/etc/phpgroupware/

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Severity: serious

In debian/rules:
cdbs_ruby_libdir_ver = $(cdbs_pkgdir)$(DEB_RUBY_LIBDIR)/$(cdbs_ruby_ver)

With ruby-pkg-tools = 0.14, DEB_RUBY_LIBDIR was changed, and now points

going to install files at the wrong place.

| Hello,
| I intend to NMU this package as part of the gcc-4.3 release goal.
| Patch fixing the issue attached.

I've contacted upstream author Chris Cannam about this issue, and he
told me that the next release (in a couple of weeks) will fix these
issues (see attached message), so I didn't see the point of applying it
as a Debian-specific patch for such a short time frame, especially
because -- according to my knowledge -- there's no software currently in
Debian that depends on these packages, and they don't have too much use
by themselves.

However, help is always welcome, so feel free to NMU in case you see fit.

I also have to mention that IANADD, so uploading is not just a matter of
a few commands for me.

Vamp SDK has just completed its way into the Debian unstable repository.
However, it looks like it has a problem when built on sparc.

You can find an extract of the build log at
  http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=482571

That report refers to gcc-4.3. The current Vamp plugin SDK release
(1.2) should not build with gcc-4.3 in any architecture, because some
#includes are missing. Previous versions of gcc's supporting
libraries apparently included these headers from other headers, at
variance with the standards, and that has been fixed in 4.3.

This change has been an enormous headache -- it affects a huge amount
of C++ code that mixes the C++ standard library with C library
functions. Very few programmers (myself obviously included)
consistently check that they have the right #includes every time they
add a call to a C library function; they just rely on the compiler to
tell them if they haven't. Every project I actively work on has been
affected, and although I have the necessary fixes, in SVN at least,
for all of them, I haven't always had time to roll out a proper
release yet.

Anyway... the build is fixed in the Vamp plugin SDK SVN repository
(since SVN revision 762) and will be fixed in the next release, which
is not very far away (it will be another bugfix-only, API-compatible
release). I attach below the patch that was necessary to fix this
problem.

Thanks,

Chris

[Rene Engelhard]
Sorry, I don't thing that's an argument after all. Which upgrade
 problems?

I had the OOo conflict in the initial upload of this package, and it
was rejected by the ftpmasters with this comment from Thomas Viehmann:

 from your changelog:
 * Conflicts with openoffice.org-core ( 1:2.4) to document that the
required language code (se) was added to OOo in version 2.4.
this is not a good idea. Policy:
A Conflicts entry should almost never have an earlier than version
clause. This would prevent dpkg from upgrading or installing the
package which declared such a conflict until the upgrade or removal
of the conflicted-with package had been completed.

To solve this issue and get the package included into Debian, I
removed the conflict. An additional argument for removing it is that
the command line hunspell interface work even if the dictionary do not
work with OOo or ice*, and it should be possible to install it on a
system to use the command line tool even if it will not work with the
GUI tools. One example of such usage is as the backend for the d-i
translation checking done on Alioth. It would be good to be able to
install the dictionary on alioth without having to upgrade OOo and
ice* related tools on Alioth.

Because of this, I suspect it is best to not add the conflicts lines.
But I am not sure, as I see the advantages of avoiding confused users
installing the dictionary and not getting support for the langauge in
OOo and ice*. The changelog comment was perhaps a bit unclear. This
package do not only work with OOo 2.4 or newer. It also work on the
command line, but for the users of OOo, it need version 2.4 or newer.

Because the ftpmasters and you do not agree in this issue, and I am
unsure what the best option is, I reduce the severity to normal.

Happy hacking,

 In debian/rules:
 cdbs_ruby_libdir_ver = $(cdbs_pkgdir)$(DEB_RUBY_LIBDIR)/$(cdbs_ruby_ver)

With ruby-pkg-tools = 0.14, DEB_RUBY_LIBDIR was changed, and now points
to /usr/lib/ruby/1.{8,9.0}, not just /usr/lib/ruby. So you package is
going to install files at the wrong place.

 Please fix that, and build-depend on ruby-pkg-tools = 0.14.

The same problem affects webgen{,0.4}

Bug#486501: em8300: FTBFS on hppa

2008-06-16 Thread Daniel Baumann
Package: em8300
Severity: serious

Hi,

your package fails to build on hppa, see build log[0]. I've disabled
em8300 on hppa in linux-modules-contrib-2.6, once you have a fixed
package uploaded, let me know so I can reenable it. Otherwise just close
the bug with the rational, why you want to skip em8300 from beeing build
on hppa anyway.

Regards,
Daniel

Bug#395252: ignore bug 395252 'mplayer embeds ffmpeg' for lenny

2008-06-16 Thread A Mennucc

hi everybody

I am requesting to the d-release team a lenny-ignore tag for bug 395252.

There are multiple reasons for this request, please take some time to
read ahead.

--- Reason 1 : policy

Recently, after a long discussion in bug 392362, a paragraph [4.13]
was added to d-policy 3.8.0 stating (briefly) that:

Some software packages include in their distribution convenience
copies of code from other software packages [...]
Debian packages should not make use of these convenience copies unless
the included package is explicitly intended to be used in this way.

This change was advertised in the email of early June by Russ Allbery
to d-devel-announce,
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2008/06/msg1.html

The message starts by saying:
Please note that the Policy release cycle is not currently
well-synchronized with the release cycle, and adjusting to this version of
Policy is *not* a priority for the upcoming lenny release unless the
relevant provision has already separately been accepted as a release goal.

I do not find [4.13] in http://release.debian.org/lenny/goals.txt , so
I assume that unless part does not apply.

So, the matter of bug 395252 (that was vehemently discussed there) is
now settled once and for all in the debian policy. But there is an
exception for lenny, and for this reason I am asking for a tag for
this bug.

[This also addresses a complaint of me and of Joey Hess, that is,
why was mplayer singled out on this issue? Now no package
is singled out, the bug is not RC for lenny, it will be RC for
all packages after Lenny. I find this fair.]

Reason 2: it does not work

The other reason is that I did not find a way to comply to the request.

There are two problems.

---2.1 missing headers and code in -dev files

When 'mplayer' is compiled, it uses a lot of *.h files from its
embedded ffmpeg; moreover, its 'configure' file scans some *.c files
to get the up-to-date listing of supported codecs etc etc.

Unfortunately, the -dev binary packages generated by ffmpeg-free
contain only a small part of all the needed stuff.

This said, I manually copied all needed stuff so as to compile all code, but...

2.2 the mplayer binary does not link with the ffmpeg-free libs.

By reading and diffing, it would seem that the newer ffmpeg-free
0.svn20080206 source code seems compatible to the ffmpeg code shipped
in mplayer... but unfortunately when I try to link, it fails. The
 error is in
 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=395252#226

I think that the problem is that the 'ffmpeg-free' code in Debian does
not contain all the upstream code; and then, to be able to compile,
there are many quilt patches that affect the shipped code, and a
restrictive 'configure' call. All this kills some symbols that
'mplayer' needs.

Unfortunately I could not properly identify where and why this linking
failure originates. This is why I add a 'help' tag to the bug. If
there is some simple way out of this that I am overseeing, please
tell.

-- reason 3: ffmpeg is in transition

One insight that I got from all the above is that , to link mplayer to
ffmpeg-free generated libraries, there are possibly many changes to be
made in ffmpeg-free. But this is not a good time to change those
libraries, that are in a transition.

a.

me what I can't do, and the GPL sounds like it was written by a human

Bug#486354: iceweasel: Iceweasel rc2 does not start

2008-06-16 Thread Alexandre Lung-Yut-Fong
I tried to run iceweasel with a clean profile (removing ~ /.mozilla),
now instead of just doing nothing and staying in the background,
iceweasel crashes: Gnome's bug-buddy launched, qnd produced the
attached debug information: Hope it helps.

Is it possible that it is related to xulrunner ? epiphany-gecko also
crashes, and has been crashing since xulrunner-1.9 went into unstable.
I filled this bugreport to gnome bugtracker concerning epiphany:

Bug#486502: multiple vulnerabilities found in vim

2008-06-16 Thread Jamie Strandboge
These should all be fixed now according to:
http://groups.google.com/group/vim_dev/tree/browse_frm/month/2008-06/6d7899eac89aa333?rnum=131_done=%2Fgroup%2Fvim_dev%2Fbrowse_frm%2Fmonth%2F2008-06%3F#doc_9bb6550f4f955f04

Also, 7.1.314 is supposedly mostly not affected, but I did find these commits:

http://vim.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/vim?view=revrevision=1013

Bug#486354: iceweasel: Iceweasel rc2 does not start

I tried to run iceweasel with a clean profile (removing ~ /.mozilla),

Is it possible that it is related to xulrunner ? epiphany-gecko also
crashes, and has been crashing since xulrunner-1.9 went into unstable.
I filled this bugreport to gnome bugtracker concerning epiphany:

Looks like another occurrence of #482415

Tried the xulmine and mybrowser examples. Got this error

Right, the core code is up-to-date as of 7.1.314. I'm currently working
on updating the remaining affected runtime files/documentation for an
upload to unstable.

Given that the vulnerability requires the user to edit files with rather
odd filenames, I'm not sure whether it warrants a security upload to
stable-security. Comments from the security team?

If there is a need for one, I could spend some time this weekend getting
a more minimal diff to apply against the stable package.

By reading and diffing, it would seem that the newer ffmpeg-free

in mplayer... but unfortunately when I try to link, it fails. The

To me it looks like either you are missing a -lavutil or have it at the
wrong place.
Note that compiling with and out-of-tree libavutil is and will not be
supported by upstream at least for now since MPlayer depends on some of
its internal functions that can not be exported cleanly (features that
depend on a FFmpeg-compatible config.h).

Hi,
the following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities Exposures) id was
published for net-snmp.

CVE-2008-0960[0]:
| SNMPv3 HMAC verification in (1) Net-SNMP 5.2.x before 5.2.4.1, 5.3.x
| before 5.3.2.1, and 5.4.x before 5.4.1.1; (2) UCD-SNMP; (3) eCos; (4)
| Juniper Session and Resource Control (SRC) C-series 1.0.0 through
| 2.0.0; (5) NetApp (aka Network Appliance) Data ONTAP 7.3RC1 and
| 7.3RC2; (6) SNMP Research before 16.2; and (7) multiple Cisco IOS,
| CatOS, ACE, and Nexus products; relies on the client to specify the
| HMAC length, which makes it easier for remote attackers to bypass SNMP
| authentication via a length value of 1, which only checks the first
| byte.

Upstream patch:

Yesterday, I have installed mpd, sonata, and the xfce panel widget to control

IIRC, on the first time, I've killed mpd, so errors.log was empty.
On the second time, a retagged (not available online) version of the file
 available from
 http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Golden_Vanity.ogg (
 http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/94/Golden_Vanity.ogg )
was playing, then stopped, and then a few short quick sounds could be
heard, then silence; some time later, playback resumed with a different
 song.

Thanks for the additional info. As the same problem could be reproduced
with a different application, showing a similar stack trace, ALSA at
least seems to be closer to the root of the problem. I'm reassinging the
bug back to libasound2, therefore, but lowering the severity as this
doesn't seem to be a widely-hit bug.

Regards,

Daniel.

Package: libxml-sax-writer-perl

Severity: serious
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Justification: FTBFS on i386

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on
i386.

This rebuild was done with gcc 4.3 instead of gcc 4.2, because gcc 4.3
is now the default on most architectures (even if it's not the case on
i386 yet). Consequently, many failures are caused by the switch to gcc
4.3.
If you determine that this failure is caused by gcc 4.3, feel free to
downgrade this bug to 'important' if your package is only built on i386,
and this bug is specific to gcc 4.3 (i.e the package builds fine with
gcc 4.2).

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot containing a sid i386
environment. Internet was not accessible from the build systems.

Archive::Ar doesn't take the 2-byte alignment (see
url:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ar_(file_format)) of headers into account;
neither when writing nor when reading. See upstream bug report (which he
hasn't reacted on after a full year) for the former case. The latter case is
sometimes not noticed because the s/// on line 322 is in multi-line mode; it
should be single-line (/s). After line 335, add

  substr($scratchdata, 0, $headers-{size} % 2, );

Or possibly add \n? to the beginning of the regexp on line 322.

Bug#486534: lmemory: xpm_widget, xpm_widget_default implicitly converted to pointers

2008-06-16 Thread dann frazier
Package: lmemory
Version: 0.6c-2
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Usertags: implicit-pointer-conversion

Our automated buildd log filter[1] detected a problem that is likely to
cause your package to segfault on architectures where the size of a
pointer is greater than the size of an integer, such as ia64 and amd64.

Function `xpm_widget_default' implicitly converted to pointer at
lmem_window.c:193
Function `xpm_widget' implicitly converted to pointer at lmem_window.c:204

This is often due to a missing function prototype definition.
For more information, see [2].

Though it is guaranteed that this codepath will cause a segfault on certain
architectures, it is not guaranteed that this codepath would ever be executed
(e.g., if the returned pointer is never dereferenced). However, this bug
does prevent the ia64 buildd from successfully building this package, resulting
in a practical FTBFS issue and warranting the serious severity.

 rid of it.

Hello,
This bug report seems to be invalid.

* exim4 4.69-5 builds fine here on uptodate sid. Without tardy.

* On grepping the source I find only one reference to tardy,
./debian/patches/00_unpack.dpatch runs tardy if an absurdely old
version of tar (1.14) is found. This will not be triggered on etch
  and later.

So is a cosmetic bug only. Since I did not add 00_unpack.dpatch I will
wait whether Marc had any hot love for keeping the tardy reference.

Bug#486349: fix for 486349

  Hello !

Many thanks, I've just uploaded a new version.

Bug#424837: More information needed

2008-06-16 Thread Mathieu Parent
Package: kolab-webadmin
Followup-For: Bug #424837

Hi, thanks for the report.

I've checked the code and found nothing particular.

The password is created by using (see complete functions next):
$ldap_object['userPassword'] = ssha( $_POST['password_0'], gensalt());

This algorithm corresponds to what is described in
http://www.openldap.org/faq/index.cgi?_highlightWords=sshafile=347

I've some questions :
- does this problem occurs everytime or some times ?
- can you reproduce it with the current pre-experimental packages (see
  http://wiki.kolab.org/index.php/Debian_-_Administrators_-_Installation
  for installation instructions)
- what do you mean by 'the terminal =' ? My understanding is that the
presence of = depends (quoting http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base64:
After encoding padded data, if two octets were remaining to encode, one
= character is appended to the output; if one octet was remaining, two
= characters are appended. This signals the decoder that the zero bits
added due to padding should be excluded from the reconstructed data.
This also guarantees that the encoded output length is a multiple of 4
  bytes.)

Thanks

--functions

function ssha($string, $salt)
{
  return {SSHA} . base64_encode(pack(H*, sha1($string . $salt)) .
$salt);
}

// return 4 random bytes
function gensalt()
{
  $salt = '';
  while (strlen($salt)  4)
$salt = $salt . chr(mt_rand(0,255));
  return $salt;
}
