It's perfect, I can connect.

thanks

It seems that upstream has switched to using qt4 rather than qt3 but the
build-depends were not updated to match.

to fix this bug change libqt3-mt-dev to libqt4-dev, libqt4-opengl-dev in
the build dependencies

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in a lenny chroot, your package failed
to build on i386.

The full build log is available from:
   http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2008/08/08

It is possible that your package builds fine in sid, but you should make sure
that your package also builds fine in lenny before the release.

A list of current common problems and possible solutions is available at
http://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS . You're welcome to contribute!

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot containing a sid i386
environment. Internet was not accessible from the build systems.

Hi,

rt2500-source needs to declare a depends to bzip2, otherwise it is not
buildable. I guess this has gone forgotton when I asked you to change
from gzip to bzip2 for the l-m-e-2.6 integration.

fyi, this is the last bit needed for the conglomeration module; I've
already commited it and just waiting for that depends, then I can upload...

Regards,
Daniel

Bug#495395: Epiphany segfaults consistently when changing the text size in certain websites

2008-08-16 Thread Enrico Zini
Package: epiphany-browser
Version: 2.22.3-1
Severity: serious

Hello,

thanks for maintaining epiphany.

I got a recurring, reproducible segfault when changing the text size.
It does not happen in every website, but for those when it happens, it
happens consistently.

How to reproduce it:

  $ epiphany-browser http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/
Hit ^+ or ^- to change the font size, or choose View/Larger text (or
  Smaller text) -> Segmentation fault

I installed epiphany-browser-dbg to get a stack trace, here it is:

  $ gdb --args epiphany-browser http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/

Right. I've been discussing this with the release team to determine

Bug#495391: gnome-volume-manager: does not start at first login after the boot/reboot

2008-08-16 Thread Mika Hanhijärvi
Package: gnome-volume-manager
Version: 2.22.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

gnome-volume-manager does not start, or exits
immediately, at first login to desktop. This happens every time after
you turn power on or reboot. Automounting on desktop ofcourse does not
work, because gnome-volume-manager is not running. If you logout from
desktop and then re-login then gnome-volume-manager starts and
automounting works just fine.

I did some testing like this too:
1) I disabled autostarting of
gnome-volume-manager from session settings
(System->preferences->Sessions).
2) I rebooted and logged in to desktop.
3) I tried to start gnome-volume-manager from terminal window.

I got exactly the same result. Gnome-volume-manager does not
start no matter how many times you try to run it from commandline. I
did use exactly the same command as which is in session settings.
If I then logout and re-login then gnome-volume-manager starts
from commandline and automounting then works.

Bug#462001: Possible solution for kde-style-qtcurve FTBFS

2008-08-16 Thread Jurij Smakov
Hi Martin,

Can you please try building kde-style-qtcurve on the buildd with
attached patch? As (another) Martin pointed out, it might be related
to the fact that $HOME is not properly set on buildd, and the code
tries to create $HOME/.qt directory during the build, which fails.
The patch simply sets HOME to tmp in the current (build) directory.
I verified building it in a chroot, but buildd environment is probably
slightly different.

Cheer.

Bug#494298: [Python-modules-team] Bug#494298: FTBFS: crashes with python2.5 if python-pyicu is present

2008-08-16 Thread Bernd Zeimetz
Hi,

thanks for your report!

> parsedatetime FTBFS with python 2.5 [1] while running tests if
> python-pyicu [2] package is installed.

Could you please test something for me:
- get the sources of python-pyicu and build and install the package from
them (for example: apt-get -b source python-pyicu; dpkg -i
python-pyicu*.deb)

- try to build parsedatetime again

And see if it works.

Thanks,

Bernd

Bug#495380: unionfs-fuse: cow fails to create directories

2008-08-16 Thread Bernd Schubert
Oops, somehow deleted the bug descripton when I submitted the bug.

Last week a user reported on the mailing list that creating new files will
fail the the writable branch doesn't have the directory path. So clearly a
copy-on-write bug. I already submitted patch to the upstream repository:

I didn't question that, read my message again.

I was just poting out the difference between your mail and the mail I tried

Package: amanda-server
Version: 1:2.5.2p1-2
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 7.5.1

When I attempt to upgrade amanda from version 2.5.2pl-2 to version
2.5.2pl-3, I get:

Preparing to replace amanda-server 1:2.5.2p1-2 (using
.../amanda-server_1%3a2.5.2p1-3_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement amanda-server ...
dpkg: error processing

trying to overwrite `/usr/sbin/ammt', which is also in package amanda-common
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)

Presumably it will start working fine once I run 'apt-get -f install',
since amanda-common was upgraded right after, but amanda-server should
still have the appropriate Replaces: field set so that it'll work the
first time.
  Cheers.

No pb.

In case you didn't notice it, there is a fixed package available in the SVN
[1], only I don't have time to finish the upload for now..

I did, and there were no relevant bugs for this package. I didn't
realise the package I was using had become a transitional package. I

stephen,

i installed freeradius 2.0.4 from debian source on lenny and noticed
that when i start freeradius, it listens on random ports rather than the
ones i have specified in radiusd.conf:

radiusd: Opening IP addresses and Ports
listen {
type = "auth"
ipaddr = 192.98.102.1
port = 1812
}
listen {
type = "acct"
ipaddr = 127.0.0.1
port = 1813
}
Listening on authentication address 192.98.102.1 port 60071
Listening on accounting address 127.0.0.1 port 40017
Ready to process requests.

i did some googling and found that this is a bug that has been fixed in
2.0.5:

https://lists.freeradius.org/pipermail/freeradius-users/2008-May/msg00384.html

since this is a very serious bug, i wonder if it makes sense to use
version 2.0.4 in lenny.

Using rlm_sqlippool module causes freeradius to crash on startup.

It stops with the following error:
/usr/sbin/freeradius: symbol lookup error:
/usr/lib/freeradius/rlm_sqlippool.so: undefined symbol: sql_get_socket

It happens using either the binary package or building from deb-src

Hello,

When I try to install "mozilla-plugin-gnash" on my Debian Sid system,

This occurs because there is no directory named "/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins".
I believe that the "mozilla-plugin-gnash" package should depend on a package
which provides the "/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins" directory.

Thanks for the report.

First, what happens here is that the 'old-prerm upgrade' invocation
of gs-common invokes /usr/bin/defoma-app, which needs File::Copy from
perl-modules. The new perl-modules and perl packages have been unpacked
but not configured yet, so their dependencies are not guaranteed to be
satisfied (and indeed, the critical perl -> perl-base dependency isn't.)

Quoting Brendan O'Dea in #479711, in the "Locale::Gettext problem"
context:

 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=479711#120

(The perl-base package is the only Essential:yes one built from the
 perl source.)

That said, I can't find this explicit explanation in the policy myself.
Section 7.2 looks like the place, but these come closest:

 http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#s-binarydeps

The Depends field should also be used if the postinst, prerm or postrm
scripts require the package to be present in order to run.

 [...]

Pre-Depends should be used sparingly, preferably only by packages whose
premature upgrade or installation would hamper the ability of the system
to continue with any upgrade that might be in progress.

Pre-Depends are also required if the preinst script depends on the
named package. It is best to avoid this situation if possible.

Brendan (and others), help would be welcome.

Even if this is deemed to be a policy violation by the gs-common package,
I suspect it's not the only one, and finding them all is non-trivial.

I'll have to think a bit about any possibilities of solving this with
Pre-Dependencies. I also wonder if using Conflicts: perl-base (<< 5.10.0)
or something like that might work.

Merging perl-base, perl and perl-modules seems like a very intrusive
change at this stage of the release cycle.

Please send the result of 'dpkg -l > list' (it chops off long columns
if outputting to the terminal) in the initial state with Etch installed,
so I can set up a similar chroot and try to reproduce it.

Already tried it and it failed to build from source due to some patch
conflicts; didn't spend much time on it though.

Feel free to upload this as a 0-day NMU, no need to delay it further.

Bug#483650: Confirmed with additional information

2008-08-16 Thread Orion

Hi

I can confirm this bug exists when built against the latest 2.6.26
Debian kernel with some additional information.

When compiling the module for both the 2.6.26-bigmem kernel as well as
the standard one, I got two different build logs. I've attached the
relevant information to this report. If the bug is the same for the two
kernels, then it seems to me that #495098 should be merged with this
one.

Thanks

Regards,

Orion

This happens always for me. Could it be my site configuration? I recently

Bug#472624: fails to start: elisa silently dies [resolution]

2008-08-16 Thread Philipp Wollschlegel
I have tried this now on 4 different machines with debian lenny. They
come with a variety of different graphic xservers, such as nvidia, nv,
i810, ati-fglrx.

none of these combinations seem to get elisa working.

However i was successfull when i upgraded python-pgm to the sid version:
0.3.4-1+b1

Elisa works now flawlessy. May I suggest to push the above python-pgm to lenny?

Sincerely,

Ooops, that's what I get for going through my humungous backlog serially.

Gudjon, let me know when you get a fixed package, and I'll make it a
personal high priority to get it uploaded for you.

Well, quoting that file:

retitle 582131 ghc-cvs: FTBFS
thanks

I applied the following patch, adding 5.10 to the list of acceptable
Perl versions, and expected the bug to die - But it was not
enough. The build process _does_ finalize the configuration phase, but
still fails to build. The patch is trivial, goes as follows:

Of course, I'm not tagging the bug as patched, as the FTBFS is still

Bug#495359: perl is in an unusable state during etch->lenny dist-upgrade and breaks the upgrade process

2008-08-16 Thread Henning Glawe
Subject: perl is in an unusable state during etch->lenny dist-upgrade and
breaks the upgrade process
Package: perl
Version: 5.10.0-13
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Scenario:
- etch system with latest security updates (August 16th 2008)
- replaced etch by lenny in /etc/apt/sources.list
- first run successfully
   aptitude install dpkg aptitude
  (as stated in http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg11612.html)
- now the real thing: aptitude dist-upgrade
after installing and unpacking a lot of stuff, maintainer scripts start
to fail with messages like:

Can't locate File/Copy.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /home/glaweh/bin/perl5
/etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.8.8 /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8 /u

ii perl-base 5.8.8-7etch3
iU perl-modules 5.10.0-11.1

and the whole upgrade-process stops.

I think I encountered the same bug already in previous debian
releases and proposed at that time to make one of the depedencies in the perl
dependency loop a pre-depends instead... this worked for me at that time.

an easier solution may be to merge all three packages into 1 package to avoid
inconsistencies completely.

The impact on the mirror network is neglegible, it would add 3.2M per
architecture, the size of the only arch:all package perl-modules.

I have a backup of the etch system, so in case you want me to check for
something specific i can reproduce this in a chroot.

Bug#495122: NMU package available

2008-08-16 Thread The Anarcat
This would probably need sponsorship of some sort:

http://debian.koumbit.net/debian/dists/testing-security/main/source/web/drupal5_5.9-1~lenny1.dsc

debdiff:

http://paste.debian.net/14921/

Some concerns were voiced that the blogapi.install modifications were
introducing unrelated additionnal functionalities. I think that's not
the case: part of the issue is that there are missing controls over file
uploads and that patch adds that to the module.

I will not pursue that effort further as I am confused by the next steps
to tackle at this point.

Thank you for your consideration,

A.

The version you just uploaded produces an empty comedi-modules package
when built against 2.6.26-1-686 headers. We had quite a bit of
discussion about it in the bug trail, please check it out.

Yes, I noticed this too. I used ftp.us.debian.org, and assumed that it
would propagate sooner or later.

According to wget -S of the package file from the Swedish mirror:

HTTP request sent, awaiting response...
  HTTP/1.1 200 OK
  Date: Sat, 16 Aug 2008 15:13:58 GMT

while the one from the US mirror was last-modified Fri, 15 Aug.

so I'm unsure why the se-mirror has not been updated.
I did a quick check, the Norwegian mirror also has the "old" version,
while the Finnish mirror was updated on Fri, 15 Aug.

Since se and fi are close, you could use that in the mean time.

 Stefan

Bug#391935: did anyone tried contacting xensource?

2008-08-16 Thread The Anarcat
Maybe there's a way to get an exception here. Other distributions should
also be contacted to coordinate and seek help.

Bug#495122: RC unblock?

2008-08-16 Thread The Anarcat
Does this require unblocking from the debian-release@ team? It seems
that it packages a new upstream which is against freeze policy.

It would probably be better to package this patch instead:

I have the same behavior with 2.2.9-6: no problem here.

Maybe this is limited only to certain modules (e.g. mod_proxy mentionned

i can install the build-depends for cacao-oj6 on sperger.debian.org,
which is the developer accessable sparc buildd.

I am not sure if this is the correct fix. I suspect it is better to
include the directory in the package itself.

This is the list of packages in unstable providing files in this
directory, btw:

Justification: renders package unusable

The MSN servers have changed their DNS server in a way that exposes a
bug in pymsn's DNS resolution. Also, their response to the CVR command
has changed, causing additional problems.

Today's upstream version 0.3.3 fixes both bugs. pkg-telepathy are
aware of this, and we'll investigate how we can best get the fix into lenny.

Bug#495320: needs to be a rubygems metapackage

2008-08-16 Thread Paul van Tilburg
Hi!

I also noticed earlier that a rubygems dummy package, that depends
on rubygems1.8, is missing from the libgems-ruby package.
This NEEDS to be added if Lenny is to be released with this new
rubygemsX.Y setup. Also, if the new rubygems uses a different path..
the rubygems dummy package should do a transition in it postinst.

Paul

Hi Sven!

I would be happy to upload your fix but I disagree with it. As pointed
by Olivier at the end of the bug report, /tmp can be flushed at boot or
by some cronjobs. Therefore, you cannot ensure that the twiki directory
still exists when twiki will be running.

I cannot give an universal solution, but in Roundcube, we use
/var/lib/roundcube/temp and we provide a cron job that will clean it
every m days where can be set by the user in /etc/default/roundcube
(and I just noticed that this is broken... will upload a fix). This way,
we don't fill up /var but we don't rely on anything in /tmp. Moreover,
we don't have to handle a complex script in postinst to circumvent
symlinks attacks.

The problem with webapps is that we don't have a clear policy of what to
do. You can just look at other packages, like phpmyadmin, mediawiki,
etc. Each attempt to establish a webapps policy seems to be aborted.

Justification: renders package unusable

Both the pax-linux and the grsecurity-2.1.11 patch don't apply
against 2.6.25 and 2.6.26. Since Lenny will mostly likely ship
with 2.6.26, please update the patch to it.

Cheers,
Moritz

Bug#495333: Installation of mozilla-plugin-gnash fails because there is no /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins

2008-08-16 Thread Vefa Bicakci
Package: mozilla-plugin-gnash
Version: 0.8.3-5
Severity: grave

Justification: The package is not installable

Hello,

When I try to install "mozilla-plugin-gnash" on my Debian Sid system,
I get the following error:

This occurs because there is no directory named "/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins".
I believe that the "mozilla-plugin-gnash" package should depend on a package
which provides the "/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins" directory.

Regards,

M. Vefa Bıçakcı

Does this happen for you always or only sometimes? Does it only happen
after apache processed some requests? I cannot reproduce it.

Since I don't have any other idea, it could be that we need to disable
mysql support in apr-util again and revert the change from
libmysqlclient.so libmysqlclient_r.so for php5 :-(

Stefan

Bug#495320: rubygems1.8: Package name change causes data loss

2008-08-16 Thread Matijs van Zuijlen
Package: rubygems1.8
Version: 1.2.0-2
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

Steps to reproduce the problem:

1. Note new rubygems1.8 package
2. Install new rubygems1.8 package
3. Note that rubygems is now gone from debian
4. Purge rubygems package

Expected result: old gems are still installed and ready to use

Actual result: old gems are gone

You may chalk it up to user error, but I like to purge packages that have
completely vanished from debian: No need to keep configuration around that
I'm never going to use again.

Bug#495319: uswsusp: s2disk reboots instead of halting

2008-08-16 Thread Bas Wijnen
Package: uswsusp
Version: 0.8.1
Severity: Grave
Justification: Makes package mostly unusable

When closing the lid of my laptop, I have set it to call s2disk. This
used to work fine, but since recently, instead of halting at the end of
the process, it reboots. This means that for the suspend to work, I
must close the lid to start the process, then open it again to reach the
power button, and wait for the reboot, then switch off the machine
manually again. This is very annoying, as it makes the normal way of
working (close the lid and walk away) impossible.

Package: suck

Severity: serious

Usertags: qa-ftbfs-20080413 qa-ftbfs
Justification: FTBFS on i386

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on i386.

This rebuild was done with gcc 4.3 instead of gcc 4.2, because gcc 4.3 is now
the default on most architectures (even if it's not the case on i386 yet).
Feel free to downgrade this bug to 'important' if your package is only built
on i386, and this bug is specific to gcc 4.3 (i.e the package builds fine with
gcc 4.2).

Thank you for reporting a problem with a package in debian. I do not
have access to arm hardware, so I would need help from your side to
reproduce the issue.

However just by looking at your commandline:

# ffmpeg -r 30 -s cif -f video4linux2 -i /dev/video0
http://localhost:8090/feed.ffm

It looks like you are trying to grab from /dev/video0 and write to an
http stream? Please elaborate what you are trying to do, it currently
looks like an usage error to me.

On that basis, I've adjusted the bug severity.

If you can, please try to compile a newer upstream version, like the
version currently found in debian/unstable. That would make reproducing
the issue for me much easier.
