Hello, Pierre,

you have totally screwed up the Policy's definitions and intentions:
regardless of whether it's a conffile or Config File, local changes
must be preserved during a package upgrade.

Bug#517851: saydate: Missing dependency on libsox-fmt-oss

2009-03-06 Thread saydate . extrainfo . peejay
I can confirm the problem for lenny in 0.3.0-10
One fix is to replace the line in /usr/bin/saydate:

cat $SAYFILES | sox -t.ul - -t ossdsp /dev/dsp
with
cat $SAYFILES | sox -t.ul - -t ub /dev/dsp

An apt-get install libsox-fmt-oss also fixes it.

Yeah, I was looking into it a couple of days ago. Will finish it and upload a

Bug#517706: bustle_0.1-1(mipsel/unstable): FTBFS not built for interactive use?

2009-03-06 Thread Chris Lamb
Luk Claes wrote:

command line: not built for interactive use

This is caused by GHCI not being ported to mipsel yet; we just need to
compile the Setup.lhs with ghc and run it instead of using runhaskell.

Alas, it seems this package is not even building on sid/amd64 at the
 moment:

 Bustle/Diagram.hs:36:0:
 Bad interface
 file:
 /usr/lib/haskell-packages/ghc6/lib/cairo-0.10.0/imports/Graphics/Rendering/Cairo.hi
mismatched interface file versions (wanted 6101, got )

This is fixed now with a new gtk2hs upload, but uploading is now blocked
by bustle having some problems with GHC 6.10 - I've sent some patches
upstream for them.

Package: psycopg2
Version: 2.0.9-1
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Usertags: implicit-pointer-conversion

Our automated buildd log filter[1] detected a problem that is likely to
cause your package to segfault on architectures where the size of a
pointer is greater than the size of an integer, such as ia64 and amd64.

Function `psycopg_escape_string' implicitly converted to pointer at
psycopg/cursor_type.c:1225
Function `psycopg_escape_string' implicitly converted to pointer at
psycopg/adapter_qstring.c:96
Function `psycopg_escape_string' implicitly converted to pointer at
psycopg/cursor_type.c:1225
Function `psycopg_escape_string' implicitly converted to pointer at
psycopg/adapter_qstring.c:96

This is often due to a missing function prototype definition.
For more information, see [2].

Though it is guaranteed that this codepath will cause a segfault on certain
architectures, it is not guaranteed that this codepath would ever be executed
(e.g., if the returned pointer is never dereferenced). However, this bug
does prevent the ia64 buildd from successfully building this package, resulting
in a practical FTBFS issue and warranting the serious severity.

Bug#518489: debian/copyright is missing information, and contains incorrect information

2009-03-06 Thread Mike O'Connor
Package: src: libcitadel
Version: 7.37-4
Severity: serious
Justification: 12.5

I was asked to review this source package in NEW, and found problems
with this package which caused me to reject the package. It appears
that the problems with this source also exist in the packages in stable,
testing, and unstable.

Subject: libcitadel_7.42-1_amd64.changes REJECTED
Date: Fri, 06 Mar 2009 05:54:26 +

Hi Maintainer,

REJECT: fix debian/copyright

I'm sorry, but I must reject this package at this time. I found several
problems with the debian/copyright file.

./lib/xdgmime contains code from many copyright holders not mentioned
in debian/copyright. Some examples:

./lib/xdgmime/xdgmimemagic.{c,h}
 * Copyright (C) 2003  Jonathan Blandford j...@alum.mit.edu

./lib/xdgmime/{xdgmimeparent,xdgmimealias}.c:
 * Copyright (C) 2004  Matthias Clasen mcla...@redhat.com

possibly others.

---

Why is there no verbatim copy of the Academic Free License?

---

./lib/mime_parser.c says:
 * This code is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.

however debian/copyright states (at your option) any later version
which doesn't seem to be true for this file, at least

---

README.txt says:
This program is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public
 License, version 3.

with no implication that (at your option) any later version applies.

This is also reiterated in COPYING, which says:
LibCitadel is distributed under the GPL V3.

with no mention of any later version.

--

Less important things that should be fixed.

README.txt says:
Copyright (c) 1987-2009 by the citadel.org development team.

so the years covered in the copyright notice in debian/copyright
should be extended

bye,

Hi,

It appears the build system of avahi-sharp doesn't respect the passed
variables. I found this while attempting to sync to Jaunty - there was a
build failure. I'm not sure why it doesn't fail on sid (possibly mcs
gets pulled in some other way), but in any case the transition is not
complete.

Attached is a patch to fix the build system to actually do the right thing.
You will need to autoreconf to get the change picked up (I did it in
rules in Jaunty, but haven't attached that here incase you prefer to do
it differently).

  * debian/patches/01_configurable_compiler.patch, debian/rules, debian/control
Patch to make build system actually respect passed compiler variables.

Thanks,
Iain

Bug#518491: lxterminal: Does not fulfill requirements for x-terminal-emulator

2009-03-06 Thread Michael Deelwater
Package: lxterminal
Version: 0.1.3-2
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 11.8.3

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

lxterminal does not fulfill the requirements for a program providing
x-terminal-emulator.

1. It lacks a -T option.
2. Its -e command line option is not compatible to that of xterm. Example:

$ xterm -e sleep 5
displays a window for five seconds and exits.

$ lxterminal -e sleep 5
Usage:
lxterminal [Options...] - LXTerminal is a terimnal emulator

Options:
-e, --command=STRING Execute the argument to this option inside
the terminal
--working-directory=DIRECTOR Set the terminal's working directory

Obviously, lxterminal's -e options just takes one argument.

Greetings,
Michael

Right clicking on panel and selecting “Add to Panel” and choosing “CPU
Frequency Scaling Monitor” creates an invisible icon in which you need
to guess where it is if you want to remove the invisible icon from the
panel by right clicking everywhere. If you catch its location, you can
manage to get to the preferences etc but that doesn't help with using
the applet. I've seen this bug closed but the bug is still very much
there on 32 and 64 bit Lenny! (I am reporting from 64 bit Lenny
 computer)

Is cpufrequtils installed?

This is important since it can allow students like myself to lock our
CPU's multipliers at 6x (Core 2 Duo or Pentium Dual-Core for example)
and save battery power; it can also be (slightly) useful for
over-clockers that don't always need the extra speed! And of course,
it can be used by those who just want to be environmentally friendly.

It is a common mistake to think you will save power by locking down the
frequency. By doing so, you are actually increasing the power
consumption. The only thing you should do to save power is to set the
CPU frequency governor to “ondemand” – something that cpufrequtils will
do for you.

For more information, see http://mjg59.livejournal.com/88608.html

(And please don’t bring up “environmentally friendly” arguments, we’re
all using computers that imply huge pollution for both fabricating and
destructing them.)

Bug#518500: GPLv2/GPLv3 mix makes source undistributable

2009-03-06 Thread Mike O'Connor
Package: webcit
Version: 7.37-dfsg-6
Severity: serious
Justification: 12.5

I was asked to review this source package in NEW, and found problems
with this package which caused me to reject the package. It appears
that some of the problems with this source also exist in the packages in
stable, testing, and unstable.

./po/da.po, README.txt say:
This program is released under the terms of the GNU General Public License v3

however debian/copyright is not referring to
/usr/share/common-licenses/GPL-3. None of the lcense texts in
debian/copyright refer to GPL v3. he references to the gpl in
debian/copyright refer to version 2 or later.

--

./static/BubbleTooltips.js says:
 * version is distributed as part of the Citadel system
 * under the terms of the GNU General Public License v2.

This is a problem in that GPLv3 is not compatible with GPLv2. If
this is GPLv2 and we have code which is GPLv3 or GPLv3+, this is not
 redistributable.

Also, this file being GPLv2 only is not mentioned in debian/copyright

--

./static/dragdrop.js says:

Ok, looking your debian/rules I found the answer, you are using different
version for devmapper packages and lvm2 packages.

Sorry for the noise.

So far as I can see, this would seem to indicate that you've hosed
your local system somehow. Once you figure out why 'hostname --fqdn'
fails the way it does there the reason for that should be clearer,
but it seems unlikely that it will be in this package. Once you fix
that it should install fine.

Bug#518518: backuppc: web frontend installed insecurely by default

2009-03-06 Thread Steven Price
Package: backuppc
Version: 3.1.0-4
Severity: grave
Tags: security
Justification: user security hole

Hi,

The CGI script of the web frontend is installed setuid to the backuppc user.
This means that any local user of the system can run the CGI script as the
backuppc user. The CGI script simply reads the REMOTE_USER environment
variable to check permissions which can be faked by the invoking user. The
CGI also seems to treat the absense of the REMOTE_USER variable as allowing
full access!

As an example on a default install that backs up /etc (the 'localhost' host)
the following command will reveal the password hashes for the web interface
(stored in /etc/backuppc/htpasswd and which should be readable only by the
backuppc user):

/usr/share/backuppc/cgi-bin/index.cgi action=RestoreFile host=localhost num=0
share=/etc dir=/backuppc/htpasswd

Note that if backuppc is used to fully backup other machines as root (the
recommended configuration) then it is possible using this method to read files
such as the backed up /etc/shadow !!

Thanks,

Steve

Bug#517835: linphone - FTBFS: error: ffmpeg/avcodec.h: No such file or, directory

2009-03-06 Thread peter green
The attatched patch makes the package build but i'm not sure if it's
correct (and I don't have things set up to test it). it contains two
dpatches, a minor fix to debian/rules to fix a ftbfs if built twice in a
row issue that I ran into while investigating and a tightening of
build-depends in debian/control.

fix_ffmpeg_includes.dpatch is trivial/obvious stuff
dont_set_rtp_mode.dpatch i'm not so sure about. Other projects that use
ffmpeg seem to have simply removed the line that sets this but i'm not
sure what if any impract this has.

Bug#518521: lam out of sync on lenny/ia64

2009-03-06 Thread Christoph Berg
Package: lam
Version: 7.1.2-1.3
Severity: serious
Justification: Missing binaries in a stable release
Tag: lenny

Lenny's lam source version is 7.1.2-1.4 and all binaries except ia64
do use that version. ia64 is at 7.1.2-1.3:

$ rmadison -s stable -S lam
 lam-mpidoc | 7.1.2-1.4 | stable | all
lam-runtime | 7.1.2-1.3 | stable | ia64
lam-runtime | 7.1.2-1.4 | stable | alpha, amd64, arm, armel, ...

liblam4 | 7.1.2-1.3 | stable | ia64
liblam4 | 7.1.2-1.4 | stable | alpha, amd64, arm, armel, ...
lam | 7.1.2-1.4 | stable | source

https://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=lam;ver=7.1.2-1.4;arch=ia64;stamp=1215843004
says maybe-failed with an ICE. All other versions (and architectures)
built fine, so this was probably a compiler hickup. (No idea about
the m68k failures, fetch.cgi doesn't like that arch anymore.)

Bug#518524: Fails to detect message with multiple virus payloads as infected

2009-03-06 Thread Henrique de Moraes Holschuh
Package: amavisd-new
Version: 1:2.6.2-1
Severity: grave
Tags: security
Justification: allows viruses to get through undetected

Verified to be a regression from 2.6.1 to 2.6.2, so it is not in Lenny.

Something is breaking amavisd-new detection of INFECTED messages when the AV
code returns more than one virus match. This happens with clamav, both in
daemon mode and command-line mode. I have not tested with other AV engines,
but the fact that it hits both the command-line mode and the daemon mode
makes it probable that it will also trigger with other AVs.

The bug is triggered only when multiple virus signatures are found (in
different parts, I didn't test more than one per part). This is rare in the
field when only standard clamav signatures are in use, since usually the
detectable payload shows up in the message only once.

HOWEVER, anyone making use of keep_decoded_original_maps and decode_parts to
have the raw message and the decoded message available to the AV engine WILL
hit the bug. And that's a common enough setup to be cause for worry.

I am trying to debug this, but I thought it better to send the bug in as a
warning ASAP.

The simplest test vector I have is to send an email with two copies of the
EICAR signatures attached as text files. The clamav log clearly shows that
both parts were detected as infected, but amavis fails to consider the
message to be INFECTED, and lets it through as CLEAN.

Another easy way to test it (be extremely carefull, this will cause EVERY
infected message to get through undetected) is to change
keep_decoded_original_maps to match MAIL so that the raw message is
available, and keep decode_parts enabled. This causes two copies of the
virus to be extracted to the scratch area, and clamav will find and report
both, triggering the bug.

Package: mediawiki
Version: 1:1.12.0-2lenny3
Severity: grave
Tags: security
Justification: user security hole

Hi all !

A new upstream release of mediawiki was done in order to fix security
issues in the installer:

This is a security release of 1.13.4, 1.12.4 and 1.6.12.

A number of cross-site scripting (XSS) security vulnerabilities were
discovered in the web-based installer (config/index.php). These vulnerabilities
all
require a live installer -- once the installer has been used to
install a wiki, it is deactivated.

Note that cross-site scripting vulnerabilities can be used to attack
any website in the same cookie domain. So if you have an uninstalled copy of
MediaWiki on the same site as an active web service, MediaWiki could be used to
attack the active service.

If you are hosting an old copy of MediaWiki that you have never
installed, we advise you to remove it from the web.

Additionally, we are releasing 1.14.0rc1, the first release candidate
of the 2009 Q1 branch. Brave souls are encouraged to download it and
try it out.

Note that we have disabled SQLite installation in 1.14, due to the
incompleteness of the implementation. We intend to restore it in 1.15.
We're not sure how many people are using SQLite, so contact us if our
treatment of it is causing you problems.

I have already imported the patch in the lenny/ branch on the SVN[1], but I
have absolutely
no time to do serious testings, so any interested contributor would be much
welcome :)

Package: fama
Version: 0.0.3-1
Severity: serious
Justification: popcon vote = 4, upstream gone, obsolete libs, never in stable

Packages maintained by pkg-telepathy that probably shouldn't be in
lenny:

* fama: popcon vote = 4, upstream website has disappeared, uses Tapioca
libraries, was never in stable, only one upload ever

* tapioca-glib: popcon vote = 6, basically unmaintained upstream, not
kept up to date with current Telepathy developments, never in stable,
we've only ever packaged one upstream version and that was a svn
  snapshot, no rdepends except fama

* telepathy-sharp: popcon vote = 10, no rdepends, otherwise the same as
  tapioca-glib

I've filed this against fama for now, since it's the most obvious choice
for removal; we can clone it against the others if we want to.

2009-03-06 Thread Henrique de Moraes Holschuh
Fix commited to Hg confirmed to solve the issue, for those needing an
immediate workaround, download the new version of 15-av_scanners from
hg.debian.org:

And move it to /etc/amavis/conf.d/15-av_scanners. After that, restart

No problem, I already had the changelog in mind with the 5.10 compatibility

Bug#517752: the working combination

2009-03-06 Thread alex bodnaru
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

hello Josselin,

following your advices on irc, i have tried the experimental versions (now
almost all unstable) of the following packages and obtained a working solution:
*gvfs* 1.0.3, *glib* 2.18, *gtk* 2.15, nautilus 2.24.

nautilus may not be required, but it just offers a solution for loading remote
files, since urls are being silently ignored in the file name field of
bluefish-unstable fileopen. and this seems to come out of oversuspicious
handling of the current problem at a whole.

Package: compiz-gtk
Version: 0.7.6-7
Severity: important

Hello,
window decorations are incomplete when using libmetacity0 1:2.24.0-1 from
experimental.
I have the context menu icon (sorry I can't name it otherwise), the title,
and then I'm missing the minimize/maximize/close triad.

Downgrading to the version in unstable fixes the problem:

# apt-get install libmetacity0=1:2.22.0-2 metacity-common=1:2.22.0-2

(this might probably also be a libmetacity0 bug)

Severity important because without knowing the solution, it's a major
usability issue (yet, not serious, since you can still do
minimize/maximize/close via right-click on title bar ...)

Thank you for looking into this,
David Paleino

Cfengine was not working on two of my servers. These two were the only systems
with cfengine2-2.2.9-1. I found that this version was looking in /var/cfengine
for the config files. This is the default location for the upstream build. I
pulled the source packages for 2.2.8 and 2.2.9 and found 2.2.9 rules file
missing the --with-workdir=/var/lib/cfengine2 option for the configure script.

Package: compiz-gtk
Version: 0.7.6-7
Severity: important

I have upgraded my system to GNOME 2.24[0] (from experimental) and after
logging out and logging in, compiz no longer renders the minimize,
maximize, and close buttons which are normally rendered on the right
side of the title bar. However, I can use the menu icon on the left
side of the window normally.

If my mouse hovers over the menu icon, a button (so far, either maximize
or minimize) will appear towards the right of the title bar, but not at
the right edge, as it normally would. The title is centered between the
menu icon and the button, instead of being centered with respect to the
entire title bar.

Obviously, I think compiz should render the title bar as it used to:
with all three buttons visible and placed correctly and the title
fully centered.

A screenshot is available at
http://crustytoothpaste.ath.cx/~bmc/files/Screenshot.png; you may find
it helpful.

[0] This includes everything from the 2.24 gnome-desktop-environment
package except seahorse-plugins, which is unavailable.

Package: compiz
Version: 0.7.6-7
Severity: normal

Hi,
Note that this is probably caused by versions of GNOME from experimental.

Compiz shows incomplete decorations for me; the application icon and menu
button is there, but the other buttons (minimize, maximize, close) on the right
hand side are missing.
Also the window title sometimes is clipped or incorrectly centered.
When I hover the mouse over the close button, the maximize button appears about
200px left of the right border of the window, while the window title jumps a
few pixels to the right.

So something about the window decorator is confused about where to place the
buttons on the right side of the window.

http://www.mucl.de/~erich/compiz.png

Is a screenshot of what this looks like when hovering over the window menu
button.
This is also approximately (give/take 20 pixels) the location where the window
title is clipped when not hovering.
I've never seen any of the other buttons; nor can you click them except for the
menu button.

The Ubuntu bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/327793
might be related, and apparently was fixed by uploading a newer version of
compiz.
It was blamed on Metacity changes that compiz didn't yet catch up, and indeed:

Bug#516292: There is traffic back to the client.

2009-03-06 Thread Alex King
In my setup, there is traffic back to the client, as shown in the
following server tcpdump:

12:30:43.711988 IP client.49633 server.58800: UDP, length 20
12:30:43.713086 IP server.32938 client.36852: UDP, length 24

Essentially, the server is sending the response to a nonsense port on
the client.

Note: the packet from the client originally has a source port of 58800,
but the source port is changed to 49633 because it is behind a nat
device (dsl router).

This should be fine as long as the reply goes to 49633. But for some
strange reason the server is sending the reply to 36852.

I am going to try an updated server package.

Alex

Bug#518557: Wrong path in hal-synce-rndis

2009-03-06 Thread H. S. Teoh
Package: synce-hal
Version: 0.13.1-1
Severity: serious
Justification: makes rndis devices unusable

Hi, there is an error in /usr/lib/hal/hal-synce-rndis: the path to /var
is prefixed with /usr, with the result that dhclient is unable to create
the pidfile and the lease file, so that HAL doesn't think the device is
connected.

% grep /var /usr/lib/hal/hal-synce-rndis
pidfile = /usr/var/run/dhclient-synce-+iface+.pid
leasefile = /usr/var/run/dhclient-synce-+iface+.lease
pidfile = /usr/var/run/dhclient-synce-+iface+.pid
leasefile = /usr/var/run/dhclient-synce-+iface+.lease
%

From a cursory look at the source, this appears to be caused by running
configure with --prefix=/usr, since line 950 in the configure script
reads:

localstatedir='${prefix}/var'

So when $prefix is set to /usr in debian/rules, localstatedir gets set
to /usr/var/, which is non-existent.

The configure script probably has to be coaxed to do the right thing by
explicitly specifying localstatedir=/var, or something along those
lines.

This can be solved running libtoolize before building in the debian/rules file

In Ubuntu, we've applied the attached patch to achieve the following:

  * debian/rules: add DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_LIBTOOL = pre to update libtool at build
time (LP: #337084)

We thought you might be interested in doing the same.
