Bug#519382: dpkg: error processing python-ropemacs (--configure)

2009-03-11 Thread Julián Hernández Gómez
Package: python-ropemacs
Version: 0.6c2-3
Severity: grave
Tags: patch
Justification: renders package unusable

python-ropemacs fails to install with the following error:

Indeed, the package doesn't have the Python-Version field (but others packages
that
use python-central have it):

Python-Version: 2.4, 2.5

The problem is related to the values of the XB-Python-Version and Depends fields
inside the debian/control (see the small patch attached that fixes the problem).

Having to build the version in unstable with zrtpcpp from unstable is
normal...

So I'm closing this bug, though you could argue that this should be a

Ok, I guess I'll have to wait for the gdb backtrace.

But one question, is hddtemp installed, and is it configured a setuid?
Is the sensors plugin warning you about hddtemp not available?

Cheers,

Bug#519181: [Pkg-xfce-devel] Bug#519181: xfce4-sensors-plugin: Latest version crashes with backtrace

Could you provide the plugin configuration too? I mean:
.config/xfce4/panel/xfce4-sensors-plugin*

Find attached: xfce4-sensors-plugin-12367174030.rc

http://wiki.xfce.org/howto/panel_plugin_debug will help. And if
possible, rebuild the package with debug options
(DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS="nostrip noopt"), and install xfce4-panel-dbg,
libxfcegui4-dbg, libxfce4util-dbg.

Will give this a try tomorrow.

FYI, I tried installing the newer version again, removing the config
file in .config/xfce4/panel via a virtual terminal before logging in to
X. There was no plugin on the panel, and no backtrace in
.xsession-errors, so I tried adding the plugin to the panel again.
Crashed with backtrace like before.

I'll be able to say more tomorrow, if I can figure out how to get the
plugin to run from inside 'gdb'.

Well, at first glance, I'd say that I'm unsure this bug belongs to

Downgrading the bug severity. The package is not entirely unusable,

Package: xulrunner-dev
Version: 1.9.0.6-1
Severity: important

With xulrunner-dev 1.9.0.6-1, the 1.4 branch of liferea (at least) can
no longer be compiled under Debian/unstable:

mozsupport.cpp:46:34: error: gtkmozembed_glue.cpp: No such file or directory
mozsupport.cpp:51:28: error: nsIDOMKeyEvent.h: No such file or directory
mozsupport.cpp:52:22: error: nsNetCID.h: No such file or directory

The cause is that these files are in /usr/include/xulrunner-1.9/unstable
and cannot be found. I first reported the bug against Liferea:

https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=581684&aid=2537587&group_id=87005

but Lars Lindner suggests a library package issue, hence this bug report.
As you can see at the above URL, this is a regression (and xulrunner-dev
didn't provide a NEWS file mentioning any important change).

Maybe your device file name changed (new kernel, new system, new udev
stuff, ...)? There are ways to tell udev to rename the device, maybe
you should look into that.

If it works when you specify the device name then no, there's nothing
interfering. If it doesn't then yes, there might be some problem
there.

Bug#519359: mmpong-gl: Failed to load module 'libCEGUIDevILImageCodec.so' / missing dependency on libcegui-mk2-dev

2009-03-11 Thread Steve Cotton
Package: mmpong-gl
Version: 0.9-1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 3.5 (Dependencies)

While I don't like logging this bug on this package, it seems a
good idea to have the discussion tracked on the BTS; and to have
it show up in apt-listbugs when people install mmpong-gl.

mmpong-gl runtime-depends on the dev package libcegui-mk2-dev:

Which is caused by a bug in libcegui:

Package "smc" also uses that library; and in response to the
first of these two added a dependency on the -dev package.

2009-03-11 Thread Santiago Garcia Mantinan
Package: twinkle
Version: 1:1.4.2-1
Severity: serious

I was trying to build the version for testing and it was failing to build
with errors regarding zrtp, I upgraded to libzrtpcpp-dev 1.4.3-3 (the
version in unstable and it built ok.

I suggest you build-depend on the 1.4 version of zrtp so that it builds
cleanly.

Regards.

Bug#519340: [gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg] segmentation fault with pidgin

2009-03-11 Thread Osmo Salomaa
This same bug prevented gnome-settings-daemon from starting on my
system. When starting GNOME, I got a dialog telling me that the settings
daemon failed to start and as a result some preferences, like themes did
not work. When running 'gnome-settings-daemon --debug --no-daemon' from
the command line I got the exact same error as David Prévot.
Uninstalling gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg solved the issue (I didn't try
downgrading).

Bug#519340: [gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg] segmentation fault with pidgin

2009-03-11 Thread David Prévot
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
Version: 0.10.6.2-1
Severity: critical
Justification: makes unrelated software on the system break

Hi,

The last update of gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg brakes pidgin: it can't be
started anymore. Downgrading to 0.10.6-3 solve the problem.

$ pidgin

ERROR: Caught a segmentation fault while loading plugin file:
/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstffmpeg.so

Please either:
- - remove it and restart.
- - run with --gst-disable-segtrap and debug.

The latest nagios3-common package can not be removed because the first "if"
block in nagios3-common.prerm is missing it's "then" keyword, causing a

I know that NM 0.6 does not have (proper) support for dialup connections (and
this won't change), so all I can advise you, is to use NM 0.7 if you want to
layer VPN connections over dialup connections using NM.

I'm the upstream author of libsndfile. I have already supplied a patch
for this issue (max_abs 1.020731 should be < 1.02). See below.

There is another issue that affects mips, hppa and some others which
I haven't managed to fix yet. I have an old mipsel machine, but I
currently can't find the power supply for it.

Cheers,
Erik

The following files in your package appear to use the img_convert function,
which has been depreciated by ffmpeg upstream in favour of their newer
libswscale library.

swat suggests no packages.

-- no debconf information

I have several squeeze systems, but only one on which swat was unusable.
Netstat indicated that that swat was listening on tcp6 901 instead of tcp 901.
Looking for differences, I noticed that the broken system had inetutils-inetd
installed instead of openbsd-inetd.
Installing openbsd-inetd on the broken system made swat usable again.

   * Reverse the order of the build-dependency alternatives on libqt4 and

the first alternative (see #403246), and hence the package FTBFS on the

allows to easily build backports on etch systems. (Closes: #519270).

Because it reacts on your multimedia keys and can adjust the volume, for which
it uses GStreamer. GStreamers registry of plugins needs to be up to date at all
time irrespective of what you use it for

But for what reasons? I don't see why a settings daemon that actually
needs to load encoding stuff. It should tell me what is in my settings
file(s), and nothing else.

Anyway, I hope that debian-multimedia fixes that.

Yeah, that should work (sbuild will only consider the first alternative,

I was asked to review this source package in NEW, and found problems

that the problems with this source also exist in the packages in stable,
testing, and unstable.

Subject: libcitadel_7.42-1_amd64.changes REJECTED
Date: Fri, 06 Mar 2009 05:54:26 +

Hi Maintainer,

REJECT: fix debian/copyright

I'm sorry, but I must reject this package at this time. I found several
problems with the debian/copyright file.

./lib/xdgmime contains code from many copyright holders not mentioned
in debian/copyright. Some examples:

./lib/xdgmime/xdgmimemagic.{c,h}
 * Copyright (C) 2003  Jonathan Blandford

./lib/xdgmime/{xdgmimeparent,xdgmimealias}.c:
 * Copyright (C) 2004  Matthias Clasen

possibly others.

---

Why is there no verbatim copy of the Academic Free License?

---

./lib/mime_parser.c says:
 * This code is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.

however debian/copyright states "(at your option) any later version"
which doesn't seem to be true for this file, at least

---

README.txt says:
This program is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public
 License, version 3.

with no implication that "(at your option) any later version" applies.

This is also reiterated in COPYING, which says:
LibCitadel is distributed under the GPL V3.

with no mention of "any later version".

--

Less important things that should be fixed.

README.txt says:
Copyright (c) 1987-2009 by the citadel.org development team.

so the years covered in the copyright notice in debian/copyright
should be extended

bye,

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on
i386.

Relevant part:

The full build log is available from:
   http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2009/03/07/approx_3.5-1_lsid32.buildlog

A list of current common problems and possible solutions is available at
http://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS . You're welcome to contribute!

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot containing a sid i386
environment. Internet was not accessible from the build systems.

g-s-d is using gstreamer for some reason. If gstreamer needs to update
it's registry it will read those files (this should only be necassary
after upgrades)

You're wrong. Some of the plugins in gnome-settings-daemon use Gstreamer.
GStreamer rebuilds its plugin cache when it notices something has changed,
which is what triggers the bug. There isn't much either gnome-settings-daemon
or GStreamer can do against broken plugins. The right solution here is to fix
your plugins (or whatever is breaking them)

Please don't reopen without getting agreement of the maintainers that it's
actually a bug

Thinking about it again, I find it strange the it is not possible --
especially as there is no lintian warning or error about it. I first
tought about filing a wishlist bug against lintian, but then discovered
this bug against sbuild:

  http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=403246

and specifically

  http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=403246#23

That gives me the impression that the problem could be 'solved' be simply
reversing the alternatives to:

 libqt4-opengl-dev | libqt4-dev (<< 4.4.0)

(i.e. reversing the order)

I'd be glad if you could comment on that. The reason why I want to keep
the alternatives is that users would (remain to) be able to build the
package on oldstable -- which is still around.

If I could do that, I'd prefer this solution instead of removing the
alternative.

Thanks,

Michael

I disagree. I don't see any reason why gnome-settings-daemon should read
those files in any case. So closing is the wrong approach, but
re-assigning it to gnome-settings-daemon.

No worries, both unstable and jabref-on-unstable work fine for me, I
hope we find a solution for the problem you describe.

Ugh, sounds nasty.

Hm, this backtrace looks more like java problems (or java + sawfish
problems) than jabref problems IMO, but I might be wrong.

Does this file exist?
If not you might try to start jabref with -b ("Do not open any files

That's interesting, since openjdk-6-jre 6b11-9.1 is the version from
stable/testing, unstable has 6b14-1.5~pre1-3. Not sure if this
changes anything ...

Since you have both openjdk-6-jre and sun-java6-jre installed you
could try them both:
$ DEBUG_WRAPPER=1 JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun jabref
$ DEBUG_WRAPPER=1 JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/ jabref

Thanks in advance for your help!

Indeed you are. Alternatives in build-dependencies aren't considered by
sbuild, so you're effectively build-depending on a version of libqt4-dev
that's no longer available.

I have built caret 5.6.1~dfsg.1-2 hours ago in an up-to-date clean amd64
chroot -- with no problems at all. Moreover, I cannot see problems with
the qt4 deps. We have libqt4-dev 4.4.3-2 in sid and libqt4-opengl-dev is
also avialable. IMHO oppinion this is due to the broken vtk5 packages:
-dev packages at version 5.2 and libraries still being 5.0, except for
amd64.

Or am I wrong?

Thanks,

Michael

2009-03-11 Thread Stefan Schlesinger
Package: libapache-configfile-perl

Justification: renders package unusable

Hello!

I tried to read my apache config using this perl module and it comes up with
the following error:

Cannot read '/etc/apache2/mods-enabled/*.load': No such file or directory (do
you need to define ServerRoot?) at bug.pl line 7

Since this is a standard Debian Apache config, I think this bug should get
fixed...

The code i used was (with line numbers for clarification):

  1 #!/usr/bin/perl
  2 use strict;
  3 use warnings;
  4
  5 use Apache::ConfigFile;
  6

libgpod 0.7.0 is ready to be uploaded to unstable. kipi-plugins
in unstable doesn't build with this new version:

The following patch seems to fix that, but requires to change the

I think so, too, yes. Another headache caused by the "install-recommends"
thing. If apt/dpkg/sbuild/whatever just uses the fixed dependencies it can
parse for determining what to remove later and just apt-get installs and
dpkg -P's them of course myspell-en-us wouldn't be catched because it's not in
Depends: of any package installed.

Can we close this bug and/or reassign to buildd or whatever an appropriate
package for buildd problems is?

This was never a problem so far with buildds using etch on the host (old apt
without install-recommends-per-default madness) and on other buildds probably
too...

Yep. When I read the policy (except those corner-cases) remove has
the packages it Depends on there. Never been a problem.

This plugin file, /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstffmpeg.so , renders any
program that uses it (like Pidgin and Quod Libet for example) unusable.
I will send dbg output from these two programs also.

These packages aren't from Debian. I'm guessing they are coming from
debian-multimedia. Replacing these with actual package from Debian should fix
your issue.

Unfortunately we don't have near enough resources to ensure compatibility with
random packages from third-party repositories, please take up this issue with
the third-party that provided these packages.. Closing the bug

If you can reproduce this with ffmpeg from Debian then ofcourse free free to
reopen the bug.

Ok, now we should test with detached debug symbols...
Could you build gst-ffmpeg with the attached debdiff and install the dbg
package and then run it in gdb to see if you can get a backtrace? :)
Please don't provide any DEB_BUILD_OPTS this time...

Let's hope it crashes now... (btw, did you try a simple rebuild without
DEB_BUILD_OPTS to see if a simple rebuild fixes the crash already?)

Oh and, maybe look deep in the .evolution tree.

There should not be any reason for it to delete anything. Upgrade only
moves the *summary* to a libsqlite folder, not the mails themselves.
The corruption may be related to the crash, but I'm not that sure.

That's what NEWS.Debian is made for. I really don't think a debconf note
would do the trick. I don't know if apt-listchanges is now at priority
standard, but clearly that's the way to do things, imho.

Bug#517671: LIB_POSTFIX

2009-03-11 Thread Alberto Luaces
Hello,

You can specify your library postfix to CMake at configuration time with the
LIB_POSTFIX variable. Setting it to a null value, e.g.

cmake -DLIB_POSTFIX="" .

makes CMake install built libraries at $(prefix)/lib instead of
$(prefix)/lib64 on 64bit platforms. I have tested it.

Regards,

Alberto

Yes, that is the same I guessed above. That also means that autobuilders are
not currently behaving according to current incomplete wording of policy :-)
(dpkg --configure --pending may have been needed before removing). However,
since Ian is right I do not thing this deserves a bug on them for this. I'd
however prefer them to be more robust.

Yes, myspell-en-us is installed, but is not passed to dpkg in the list
of packages to be removed. Seems initially an autobuilders bug, but
may be an apt problem, see below.

Looking better the log (log of control-center_1:2.22.2.1-2+b1/amd64, Sun
Mar 8 12:28:56 2009), there are more funny things (I am not very used
to autobuilder logs, so I may be getting a wrong view), myspell-en-us
seems to not be in the initial list of packages to be installed, that
may be why is not passed for removal,

The following extra packages will be installed:
   No myspell-en-us
   dictionaries-common is here

Suggested packages:
   No myspell-en-us

Recommended packages:
   No myspell-en-us

The following NEW packages will be installed:
   No myspell-en-us
   dictionaries-common is here

And then

0 upgraded, 456 newly installed, 0 to remove and 46 not upgraded.
1 not fully installed or removed.
Need to get 199kB/153MB of archives.
After this operation, 457MB of additional disk space will be used.
WARNING: The following packages cannot be authenticated!
  dictionaries-common myspell-en-us console-data kbd console-common
...
and myspell-en-us gets installed.

I think both points are valid, and it'd be convenient to add a
NEWS.Debian file so user are warned at install that they should
- make a backup of evo stuff (which is easy to do with the adequate
  plugin)
- run evolution --force-shutdown *before* running the upgrade

Thanks for reporting, this will be part of the next upload.

(btw, as an user, I always do that before upgrades, just in case) (and I
even more do that now that I'm sort-of maintainer)

I didn't know that it was from the same buildd log. I guess
that since it was never configured that you can't depend
on your Depends being there, like Ian explained.

Anyway, the builld log after that (control-center_1:2.22.2.1-2+b1)
failed with:

It seems like it's not trying to remove myspell-en-us
or something.

Comments/Problems:

At first installation has been hanging on setting the system clock, I
had to abort that task.

d-i failed to detect the hard disk then. Previous OpenSuSE 11.0 install
used 'ahci' but that's not on the list of loadable disk drivers!?
I switched to tty2 to load it manually - afterwards installation
continued without further errors.

I will not have the time to verify this with daily build d-i as
the machine is only a trial until next week, sorry.

I did not get WLAN working yet - it worked in SuSE.
Everything else works perfect for now.
