Bug#517521: flpsed not displaying files again

2009-03-18 Thread Kapil Hari Paranjape
Hello,

I was unable to reproduce this error on a fresh installation of sid.

On Wed, 18 Mar 2009, Jim Shofstall wrote:

An additional remark. You have replied to the original bug report
regarding "flpsed" missing "ghostscript-x" in its dependency list.
That bug was fixed and the report now shows as "Resolved".

In case you are able to re-create the above bug on a fresh install of
sid, please report it as a new bug.

Regards,

Kapil.

"flpsed" just uses the x11alpha driver of ghostscript to display the
PS file inside its fltk managed window.

Looking through the changelog for ghostscript for changes between
8.63.dfsg.1-2 and 8.64~dfsg-1 gave no hint of what could have
happened.

So I am forwarding this to the people who have been maintaining
ghostscript to see if they know what happened!

Kapil.

Sure, it's only used to get https urls working. I don't care which library
implements that. I haven't tested it but assume it works.

As can be seen there is -ldb-4.2 present. However libdb-dev is in

unresolved symbols. Hope this helps.

Bug#520328: caret: FTBFS: /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lvtkRendering

2009-03-18 Thread peter green

reassign 520328 libvtk5-dev
retitle 520328 libvtk5-dev should have a versioned dependency on libvtk5

If libvtk5-dev is 5.2.1 but libvtk is only 5.0.4 (as seemed to happen
with all the buildd builds of caret 5.6.1~dfsg.1-3
) then a broken
symlink results. Such a broken situation should not be allowed by
package dependencies.

release team: please requeue caret with a dep-wait on libvtk5 >= 5.2.1

Bug#519181: xfce4-sensors-plugin: Backtrace from interactive 'gdb' session

2009-03-18 Thread Dave Witbrodt
Package: xfce4-sensors-plugin
Version: 0.10.99.6-1
Followup-For: Bug #519181

Sorry for my incompetence, but I've never used 'gdb' before.

I made an attempt to get an interactive 'gdb' session to run from the
script called by my modified *.desktop file, and it seems to have paid
off. This is the script called from the *.desktop file:

#!/bin/sh
xfce4-terminal -x gdb --args
/usr/lib/xfce4-sensors-plugin/xfce4/panel-plugins/xfce4-sensors-plugin $@

I have attached the relevant part of the 'gdb' session, with a similar
backtrace to what I've already posted in this thread, and with some more
valuable information following that from running 'where' in 'gdb'.

Bug#519704: Chnanges for ghc6-6.10 required

2009-03-18 Thread Joachim Breitner
Hi,

FYI, a mere rebuild does not work:
https://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=haskell-http;ver=30010004-3%2Bb1;arch=amd64;stamp=1237212155

Probably a new upstream release that is ghc-6.10 compatible is required.

Greetings,
Joachim

Hi Dave,

could you please comment on this issue and if you'd be willing to compile
libraptor against libcurl-gnutls.

Thanks,

Bug#517521: flpsed not displaying files again

2009-03-18 Thread Jim Shofstall
Recent upgrades of flpsed and ghostscript-x not compatible. Flpsed is not
displaying pages again.

Current version of flpsed:0.5.2-1
Current version of ghostscript-x: ghostscript-x_8.64~dfsg-1_i386.deb

Downgrading ghostscript-x solves the problem.

Then it seems malo's chroot needs to get fixed.

Hi Mark,

is there anything in the gdm (or kdm) log? what version of libx11-6 and
x11-xkb-utils is installed?

Cheers,

Ah, so there is an advantage to being a DD :-).

Ah yes, forgot that one.

> It probably also required automake/autoconf.

I thought that was part of build-essential.

Anyway, the test is as follows:

   svn co http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/vorbis
   cd vorbis
   ./autogen.sh --disable-docs
   make check

If the (rather minimal) test suite passes then this is almost certainly
this bug:

https://trac.xiph.org/ticket/1229

which was fixed with this commit:

https://trac.xiph.org/changeset/13657

For a final sanity check, you could probably test either side of that
changeset.

I'd guess that you're building in some sort of chroot which doesn't have
/etc/group entries corresponding to the gid you're running under.
There's a documented parameter to skip the tests when building, and you
can do that as you wish. The tests do turn up glibc and other errors on
occasion, though, especially on niche architectures, which is why
they're enabled in the first place. YMMV.

I atleast needed libogg-dev to be able to build it. It probably
also required automake/autoconf. Not that anything should be a
problem.

Actually, looking at this some more, the failure on Arm (0.0)
was vastly different that the one on the other architectures
suggesting that the Arm bug is different.

I'll see if I can come up with a suitable standalone test program
for the Arm case.

For the others, I am still pretty sure that this is a bug that
has been fixed in vorbis SVN. If I could get access to one of
these machine I could test it.

I'm not a DD, but I'm on my way to becoming a DM. I have already had
my GPG key signed by two DDs who will vouch for me and I know at least
a couple more who would do the same :-).

All thats needed is build-essentials and the SVN and Bzr clients.

Yes.
I have to run m-a -l as there's no vmxnet without the modules...
But I guess I found the problem:

VM_UNAME = $(shell uname -r)

# Header directory for the running kernel
HEADER_DIR = /lib/modules/$(VM_UNAME)/build/include

this needs to be overridden.

Any plan how we should continue with this? We can't let any binary
octave-forge package into testing like that. The current octave3.0
packages in unstable and testing are ABI-incompatible.

I'm looking into the issue, but the default kernel in sid is 2.6.28. Kernel
2.6.26 is not available in sid.

At present, the 1.3.0-1 package is only available in sid, and the package
for squeeze is 1.0.0-1.

This bug doesn't strictly apply to either sid or squeeze as such, given the
package situation. Kernel 2.6.28 will no doubt be automatically migrated to
squeeze prior to version 1.3.0-1 of nspluginwrapper being migrated.

Given this situation, I'm wondering what worth there is implementing a fix
if it's already obsolete before the package is pushed out.

It would be nice if this could be reduces to a simple c file that
shows the problem. It would simplify testing it on all the
arches. This would also help to submit it to the gcc bugtracker
if it's a bug in gcc.

Any Debian Developer should be able to test all those arches on Debian
porter machines. But we'll probably need to ask to install all
the required packages first.

The correct solution is to use sys/inotify.h instead.

Severity "serious" is still too much for this bug, it is "important" at
best since this bug concerns only people using findlib. Anyone not

Bug#518037: Update : armel failure is a gcc bug

I am the upstream author of libsndfile.

Earlier in the the history of this bug Kurt Roeckx reported:

I assume this last one is for armel which turned out to be a bug
in gcc for that platform:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=515949

There is more info in the upstream vorbis bug tracker:

https://trac.xiph.org/ticket/1526#comment:6

If someone can run my hacked together test from the bzr repo in
that trac comment on ia64, mips, mipsel, hppa etc I'll take a
look at it.

Cheers,
Erik

I can't comment regarding Lenny, but did you try building against a
kernel version being different from the one currently running?

Hi!

I have finally found that the bug is reported upstream as:
 http://divmod.org/trac/ticket/2770

There is a patch that allows database creation. There is still a problem
with existing database that should be upgraded by hand for the moment.

Bug#520338: python-axiom: Does not work with sqlite >= 3.6.4

2009-03-18 Thread Vincent Bernat
Package: python-axiom
Version: 0.5.30-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi!

With the current version of sqlite3 in unstable, Axiom does not work
any more. It fails with an error like that:

axiom.errors.SQLError: : near
"indexed": syntax error>

Since sqlite 3.6.4, INDEXED is a reserved keyword introduced by
"INDEXED BY" clause.

I did not find the corresponding bug report into upstream bug
tracker.

Well, my preference would be to get a working mpi-defaults-dev in all
architectures as soon as possible, but if you have grounds to believe
openmi will be available on alpha and again on sparc soon, I don’t have
any inconvenient to wait a few days. Let’s do that.

Thanks, and sorry for all the hassle.
