Bug#515324: Depends on GTK 1.2 and GLIB 1.2

Hi Barry

Thanks a lot for the patch. However after applying it I get the following
error.

checking for GTK - version >= 1.2.0... no
*** The gtk-config script installed by GTK could not be found
*** If GTK was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in

I'm building on a lenny box so that could be the issue.

Feel free to NMU if you want.

The issue is that debian/rules calls
$(MAKE) CFLAGS="$(CFLAGS)"
overriding the CFLAGS variable set in pkgs/tdbc1.0b1/Makefile.in, which
had been set up to include ${SHLIB_CFLAGS} (-fPIC) by
pkgs/tdbc1.0b1/configure (generated from the TEA_MAKE_LIB macro in
pkgs/tdbc1.0b1/tclconfig/tcl.m4).

This is arguably an upstream bug, because CFLAGS is supposed to be
overridable in this way, and should contain only optional optimization
flags, not essential flags like -fPIC.

However, passing the Debian CFLAGS to configure instead of forcefully
overriding them in make is cleaner, and allows the package to build:

Package: kde-full
Version: 5:50
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Today from a clean squeeze system, I performed apt-get update and, as usual,
told aptitude
to install all upgradable packages. Apparently KDE4 made it to testing today --
sadly, in a
broken state. Attempting to install kde-full appears to cause aptitude to try
to remove kde,
kdecore, and a few other kde3 packages, which is reasonable, and hold back all
of the KDE4
stuff, which is not. I have been unable to find any information on this upgrade
on the wiki
or mailing lists, and only managed to save KDE3 by holding everything. However,
in its
current state, KDE4 breaks 3's dependencies and does not install properly,
rendering it
totally unusable. Please let me know if more information is needed.

It happens that today KDE 4 entered testing (Squeeze). It will uninstall lots
of KDE 3 packages, but do not be afraid, you will be able to re install the
standalone apps later.

If you find problems of missing packages, please wait until the mirrors get
synced.

If you encounter any problems later, please do fill a bug.

Regards, Lisandro.

I have attatched a new version of input_layer.diff just replace the
existing one in debian/patches and fix this issue.

For the ssize_t variable I simply changed the format specifier to match.
For the sizeof I couldn't find any good documentation on what type it
was supposed to return so I added a cast to make it match thr format string.

The fix is trivial, just add python to the build-depends.

BTW be aware that this only affects "arch-only" builds, "arch plus
indep" builds succeed because python gets dragged in indirectly through
stuff in build-depends-indep .

files below /etc/udev. This hook is part of the udev package, but yes,
any such change would require a bit of coordination.

Understood, but it would at least have made an 'init=/bin/sh' type boot
possible. That, in turn, would have made cleaning up afterwards a good
deal easier.

Hope this helps,

Bug#529091: openscenegraph: fails to build on armel "hidden symbol (...) is referenced, by DSO"

2009-05-17 Thread peter green

- It is almost a shoot in the dark, since we cannot test in a fast way
 if the fix is working (it seems that for armel the latency is almost
 two months).

 Suggestions?

There is always qemu, it may take a few days (not sure how qemu compares in
speed to the current armel buildds) but that still may be quicker than waiting
for the buildds to get arround it.

Bug#528589: amavis-stats: New version run as daemon and is started with different options

Hello,

For the good part : the graphs work !
The bad part is, as you says, the init script.

It the pid file is not created at start.
The defaut in amavis-stats.conf is not good, I changed it to :
$pid_file   = "/var/run/amavis-stats.pid";  # (default is
"$MYHOME/amavis-stats.pid")

But, amavis-stats does not create it either... Amavis-stats perl script must
be debugged...

I also saw that by defaut, amavis-stats is running with www-data user. I had
to change the ownership of /var/lib/amavis-stats*.

And also, www-data cannot read /var/log/mail.log...

Gilles,

Thanks. Yeah, Peter had looked at it and the perl script does have
issues. If something goes wrong (such as the wrong user permissions) it
whacks the pid file but doesn't actually stop the daemon. Unfortunately
neither he nor I are Perl experts.

I am of two minds of this. But as the fix is rather simple,
it does seem to be worthwhile to fix the problem in stable.

Package: freewheeling
Version: 0.5.5-1
Severity: serious

Hello,

I am currently checking which packages will break since libgnutls-extra
and libgnutls-openssl switches from GPLv2+ to GPLv3+. freewheeling
links against one of these libraries but its license is unclear:

* debian/copyright says: "You are free to distribute this software
  under the terms of the GNU General Public License." This fails to
  say which versions of GPL are acceptable.

* Upstream sourcecode is not properly licensed. None of the sourcefiles
  contain a license statement. The only single evidence that the
  software should be GPL(?) is that a file COPYING, consisting of a
  copy of the GPL is included.

Please ask upstream to
a) clarify the license (GPLv2, GPLv2+, ...)
b) properly license he software, adding a license
statement to every sourcefile
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html

Thanks, cu andreas

Hi,

your source package, or one or more of your binary packages do
declare a relation to ttf-bistream-vera. This font is going to
be removed from the archive in favour for ttf-dejavu.

Please adjust your packages if you make use of the fonts
directly, and remove *any* relation to ttf-bitstream-vera in your
next upload.

Regards,
Daniel

According to the changelog this was fixed in -3 but it seems that
version was never accepted so there was no autogenerated close message.
Buildd logs seem to indicate it is indeed now fixed in that archive.

Strange. The code is written to work normally without it. Can you please show
full output with errors printed?

It's a new library; I guess (hope) that it's a new API and therefore there
are no backwards-incompatibilities that would require a package name change.

Bug#528938: suggested patch

2009-05-17 Thread The Fungi
Since sid is used as a string, here's a cheap way to increase its
complexity by more than 10^7 without increasing its length, simply
by adding mixed-case letters (this is what I've done on systems
where I use the application and it works fine):

--- /usr/share/ajaxterm/ajaxterm.js 2009-02-17 13:40:43.0 +
+++ ajaxterm.js 2009-05-17 17:49:30.0 +
@@ -3,7 +3,17 @@
var ie=0;
if(window.ActiveXObject)
ie=1;
-   var sid=""+Math.round(Math.random()*10);
+
+   // mitigate CVE-2009-1629
+   var sid_arr = (
"0123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz" ).split();
+   var sid_inc = 0;
+   var sid_arr_pos = 0;
+   var sid = "";
+   for (sid_inc = 0 ; sid_inc < 10 ; sid_inc++){
+   sid_arr_pos = RandRange( 0, (sid_arr.length - 1), sid_inc );
+   sid += sid_arr[ sid_arr_pos ];
+   }
+
var query0="s="+sid+"&w="+width+"&h="+height;
var query1=query0+"&c=1&k=";
var buf="";

Further complexity can be added by putting additional safe
characters in sid_arr or increasing the iteration cap in the for
loop (thus extending the length of the string). Hope this helps!

This is not a solution, these two programs do very different things
and it should be possible to have both of them installed at the same time.

As per the policy, renaming of one of the binaries is what should be done:
   Two different packages must not install programs with different
functionality but with the
   same filenames. (The case of two programs having the same functionality but
different
   implementations is handled via "alternatives" or the "Conflicts" mechanism.
See Maintainer
   Scripts, Section 3.9 and Conflicting binary packages - Conflicts, Section
7.4 respectively.)
   If this case happens, one of the programs must be renamed. The maintainers
should report this
   to the debian-devel mailing list and try to find a consensus about which
program will have to
   be renamed. If a consensus cannot be reached, both programs must be renamed.

Bug#529091: openscenegraph: fails to build on armel "hidden symbol (...) is referenced by DSO"

2009-05-17 Thread Alberto Luaces
Package: openscenegraph
Version: 2.4.0-1.1
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

At last, the armel build of 2.8.0-4 took place on May 10th. However it
failed because the following error when building the first program on
the suite that uses the library, osgviewer:

/usr/bin/ld: ../../bin/osgviewer: hidden symbol
`__sync_bool_compare_and_swap_4' in
/usr/lib/gcc/arm-linux-gnueabi/4.3.3/libgcc.a(linux-atomic.o) is referenced by
DSO
/usr/bin/ld: final link failed: Nonrepresentable section on output

It is the same error that the 2.8.0-1 release got on this platform in
the past. I think the error is caused since the new atomic operations
feature was incorporated to OpenThreads between the 2.4 and the 2.8
releases.

Since it seems that nobody uses armel on the OSG list -- otherwise
this error would come up several months ago --, one possible solution
would be to deactivate the use of those intrinsics only for
armel. This approach has however several disadvantages:

- Seeing the CMakeLists.txt file, it seems that there is no way of
  deactivating that feature, since is not optional but configured
  automatically through tests. I could, however, ask for a way to do
  it on the mailing list.

- It is almost a shoot in the dark, since we cannot test in a fast way
  if the fix is working (it seems that for armel the latency is almost
  two months).

- We cannot know if the original error comes from OSG, CMake o armel's
  system libraries.

Suggestions?

Regards,

Alberto

If I use version dvdbackup 0.4 from the debian repository and try to backup a
DVD like so

dvdbackup -M

only about the first quarter of the resulting image is playable. That is,
playing the image with

xine dvd:

will only get about 1/4 of the way through before dieing (to see this, just
jump to a later chapter in the DVD).

This has been true on every DVD I've tried so far. The debian binary for
version 0.2 works fine on this same system.

Applying the patch from upstream r7968
(http://mail.gnome.org/archives/svn-commits-list/2008-September/msg03041.html)
allows the package to build successfully (at least on amd64). The resulting
package installed without any problems and I was able to send and receive a
couple of test e-mails.

Upgrading the package to a new upstream version would probably be a
better solution, but this should at least fix the FTBFS.

Regards,

Adam

(Assuming, of course, that libpulsecommon-0.9.15.so is some kind of
private library that only packages from the same source depend on/link
against, and that for this reason is okay to ship in libpulse0 and bump
its SONAME without a package rename.)

I'll note that this failure is not reproducible in the buildds. All

Well it got useful responses, these just didn't include the profile you'd like
to use. Could you do the following for me:
  0) Report a new bug against pulseaudio so we can track this issue properly
  1) Provide the kernel, alsa and pulseaudio version your running. Preferrably
 ensure you're running the latests version available in debian

That's because you disabled the modules that restored your devices volume..

> This is still the case now. Is there any news regarding this bug?

Can you uncomment the modules you commented, remove ~/.pulse and then try
again? The volume will be 100% the first time, but once you adjust it, it
should be restored on the next restart.

Does this still happen with the final 0.9.15 release ? As other people in this

profile

That should be fixed with a newer version of pavucontrol.

  Pulse triggered lots of bugs in various alsa drivers (specifically in the HDA
  driver), which are slowly getting fixed. So while pulse doesn't strictly
  depend on a .29 kernel, it is recommended to use it on run very recent
  kernels and alsa versions.

That's because pulseaudio does time based scheduling instead of interrupt based
scheduling, which basically no other application does and hence it triggers
loads and loads previously undiscovered bugs in alsa.

Severity: serious

Hi,

Whilst building your package on AVR32, the build failed with:

  Malformed argument '--skipdeps' at
/usr/share/perl/5.10/Module/Build/Compat.pm line 170.

Not that this is not specific to AVR32 as I can also reproduce this on
my i386 machine.

The full build log is available:

Package: mklibs
Version: 0.1.26
Severity: important

It seems that mklibs is not working properly on mipsel. When I boot a
daily d-i image made with mklibs it stops after:
| Freeing unused kernel memory: 124k freed
When I re-build the image with mklibs-copy, it works. The only
difference is:

Binary files c/lib/libc.so.6 and m/lib/libc.so.6 differ
Binary files c/lib/libfribidi.so.0.0.0 and m/lib/libfribidi.so.0.0.0 differ
Binary files c/lib/libm.so.6 and m/lib/libm.so.6 differ
Binary files c/lib/libnss_dns-2.6.1.so and m/lib/libnss_dns-2.6.1.so differ
Binary files c/lib/libnss_files-2.6.1.so and m/lib/libnss_files-2.6.1.so differ
Binary files c/lib/libresolv.so.2 and m/lib/libresolv.so.2 differ
Binary files c/lib/libslang.so.2 and m/lib/libslang.so.2 differ

This is the same I reported back in September:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2007/09/msg00028.html
http://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2007/09/msg00036.html
I was told that this was due to #433874 but given that this is fixed
now it must be something else.

I am still able to reproduce it in stable though. I guess something

Bug#525071: libcrypto++ segfault on i386?

2009-05-17 Thread Jens Peter Secher
I cannot identify the exact place where things go wrong, so I have
uploaded the following files to http://people.debian.org/~jps/segfault/

  RandomFunctions.cpp
  amule
  libcrypto++8-dbg_5.6.0-2_i386.deb
  libcrypto++8_5.6.0-2_i386.deb

The amule binary is non-stripped and the interesting point is the
singleton in RandomFunctions.cpp, so you can set a break-point in the
get() method.

The exact shape of the singleton is my creation; the RandomFunctions.cpp
looks a little different in the original amule, but the segfault appears
in both implementations. The interesting thing is that the segfault
does not happen in the exact same place when the RandomFunction is
changed a bit. Therefore I suspect there could be some alignment
problems, also considering that the segfault does not happen on x64.

The -dbg package contains the debugging symbols for the crypto++
package.

Cheers,

Aarrgh! Hate needing to correct myself.
Netboot images should be fine, because they will automatically take udebs
from Lenny [1]. So the only images that should be broken are the daily
built Squeeze CD images and the weekly built CD images. And as mentioned
before that is expected, not the result of a bug.

s/Lenny/Squeeze/ rather.

Basically: you very simply cannot use images built for Lenny to install
Squeeze.

At least not netboot images. I guess that if you took a Lenny businesscard
CD and selected expert mode, it would happily install Squeeze if you
asked it to. Reason: it will take the libc6 udeb from the CD images and
that will of course match the version of libnss-files-udeb included in
the initrd.
