Bug#567214: backuppc: Changing archive directory not working correctly
Hi! I fear the answer from Adam hasn't reached you, so here is an additional ping: * FDi f...@r00t3d.com [2010-01-28 01:26:13 CET]: Heres what I did: apt-get install backuppc sudo /etc/init.d/backuppc stop mkdir /media/raid/backup sudo chown backuppc:backuppc /media/raid/backup sudo cp -dpR /var/lib/backuppc/. /media/raid/backup sudo rm -rf /var/lib/backuppc sudo ln -s /media/raid/backup /var/lib/backup sudo /etc/init.d/backuppc start ... Daemon starts without any errors, however now when I try to access the WebUI in 127.0.0.1/backuppc/ it gives me a message saying Error: Unable to connect to BackupPC server The response from Adam: * Adam Goryachev mailingli...@websitemanagers.com.au [2010-02-03 14:44:33 CET]: It looks like everything you did was correct, up to the last step (hopefully you have worked this out by now, or it was a copy and paste error to the bug report). sudo cp -dpR /var/lib/backuppc/. /media/raid/backup sudo rm -rf /var/lib/backuppc sudo ln -s /media/raid/backup /var/lib/backup That last one should have been: sudo ln -s /media/raid/backup /var/lib/backuppc FDi, does this solve your problem? Bug#572118: [kwalletcli] Nothing happens when running
severity 572118 normal thanks Resul Cetin dixit: Personally i doubt that gpg-agent really starts pinentry-kwallet. Does it now start it or not? I think the problem is that it doesn't support `GETINFO pid` correctly. When I remove that from gpg-agent I get the password window and the rest works as expected. So please implement GETINFO correctly for = gnupg2_2.0.9. I move that up to serious because this makes it complete unusable for everyone using it with gpg-agent. Interesting. As I only have gnupg2-2.0.7 at work, I didn’t know about this. I shall look into that and RTFM of the newer version. However, this is a feature enhancement, and as such wishlist, because kwalletcli itself is not impacted, only one of the “tools” that come with it. Although I agree it’s more important than wishlist, so I’m ok with severity normal. I’ll have to do this upstream though, not in Debian, so raising the priority would not help. bye, //mirabilos -- FWIW, I'm quite impressed with mksh interactively. I thought it was much *much* more bare bones. But it turns out it beats the living hell out of ksh93 in that respect. I'd even consider it for my daily use if I hadn't wasted half my life on my zsh setup. :-) -- Frank Terbeck in #!/bin/mksh -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#571458: libeb13 4.4.2-1 changes ABI?
Hello, Motoyuki, does the eb 4.4.2 package really break the binary compatibility? If so, the SONAME version should be bumped up. I found ABI incompatibility between EB Library 4.4.1 and 4.4.2. As you guess, EB Library 4.4.2 sets a wrong shared library version. 15:0:2 is specified in configure.ac, but the correct version is 15:0:0. Thank you for the bug report. I'll release EB Library 4.4.3 to fix the bug. Those two binaries are essential to OpenMPI checkpointing and their absence renders the package unusable. Bug#572201: linux-image-2.6.32-trunk-amd64: forcedeth driver hangs under heavy load
Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.32-5 Severity: grave When running linux-image-2.6.32-trunk-amd64, the network stops responding if large amounts of traffic are transmitted/received. Running ifdown eth0 followed by ifup eth0 restores operation of the network. There are no errors relating to this failure logged in /var/log that I could see. Downgrading to linux-image-2.6.30-2-amd64 results in a stable network. Not sure if this is a forcedeth specific problem or a general problem in the newer kernel (I have seen problems with forcedeth on other distro/kernel combinations). Hello, I couldn't get tomcat6 6.0.24-2 to start, either, and so far I haven't found anything better to do than revert to a previous version (6.0.20-dfsg1-1). This is on amd64, for the record. I had lines similar to these in my /var/log/tomcat6/catalina.(date).log: 1-mar-2010 10.34.37 org.apache.catalina.core.AprLifecycleListener init INFO: The APR based Apache Tomcat Native library which allows optimal performance in production environments was not found on the java.library.path: /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/lib/amd64/server:/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/lib/amd64:/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/../lib/amd64:/usr/java/packages/lib/amd64:/usr/lib/jni:/lib:/usr/lib 1-mar-2010 10.34.37 org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol init INFO: Initializing Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-8080 1-mar-2010 10.34.37 org.apache.catalina.startup.Catalina load INFO: Initialization processed in 570 ms 1-mar-2010 10.34.37 org.apache.catalina.core.StandardService start INFO: Starting service Catalina 1-mar-2010 10.34.37 org.apache.catalina.core.StandardEngine start INFO: Starting Servlet Engine: Apache Tomcat/6.0.24 1-mar-2010 10.34.37 org.apache.catalina.startup.HostConfig deployDescriptor INFO: Deploying configuration descriptor ROOT.xml 1-mar-2010 10.34.37 org.apache.catalina.startup.HostConfig deployDescriptor INFO: Deploying configuration descriptor docs.xml 1-mar-2010 10.34.37 org.apache.catalina.startup.HostConfig deployDescriptor INFO: Deploying configuration descriptor host-manager.xml 1-mar-2010 10.34.37 org.apache.catalina.startup.HostConfig deployDescriptor INFO: Deploying configuration descriptor manager.xml 1-mar-2010 10.34.37 org.apache.catalina.startup.HostConfig deployDescriptor INFO: Deploying configuration descriptor examples.xml 1-mar-2010 10.34.38 org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol start INFO: Starting Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-8080 1-mar-2010 10.34.38 org.apache.catalina.startup.Catalina start INFO: Server startup in 591 ms 1-mar-2010 10.34.38 org.apache.catalina.core.StandardServer await GRAVE: StandardServer.await: create[8005]: java.net.SocketException: Invalid argument at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketBind(Native Method) at java.net.AbstractPlainSocketImpl.bind(AbstractPlainSocketImpl.java:336) at java.net.ServerSocket.bind(ServerSocket.java:336) at java.net.ServerSocket.init(ServerSocket.java:202) at org.apache.catalina.core.StandardServer.await(StandardServer.java:373) at org.apache.catalina.startup.Catalina.await(Catalina.java:657) at org.apache.catalina.startup.Catalina.start(Catalina.java:617) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:57) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:43) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:616) at org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap.start(Bootstrap.java:289) at org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap.main(Bootstrap.java:414) An interesting behaviour I noticed: running /etc/init.d/tomcat6 start manually gave me an indication of failure; instead, if I rebooted my box altogether, it apparently worked, and I had a file with a process id at /var/run/tomcat6.pid, but by the time I could get into a shell, the process had somehow disappeared (died?). /etc/init.d/tomcat6 stop would answer that tomcat6 wasn't running, /etc/init.d/tomcat6 start would complain that there was a pid file and therefore nothing had to be done. Bug#572021: [Pkg-openmpi-maintainers] Bug#572021: openmpi-checkpoint: orte-checkpoint is not installed by package, ompi-checkpoint is a link to it
Am Dienstag, den 02.03.2010, 10:25 + schrieb Alan Woodland: 2010/3/1 Fernando Tarlá Cardoso Lemos fernando...@gmail.com: My suggested fix is to add /usr/bin/orte-checkpoint and /usr/bin/orte-restart to the list of files that are installed by this package. Any ideas where these got to? They were definitely included in the first version of openmpi-checkpoint that was uploaded... They should be, and I'm pretty sure I checked since I modified the installation scripts since there were changes to them in the 1.4 series. I had a discussion with upstream about that. Bug#572169: /usr/bin/apt-get: apt-get breaks on openoffice.org-core upgrade
Hi Anne Henmi, 2010/3/2 Anne Henmi bengaltigerstri...@gmail.com: Package: apt Version: 0.7.25.3 Severity: critical File: /usr/bin/apt-get Justification: breaks the whole system Let me note that apt hasn't break your system. Your system is in a broken state BEFORE you call apt, so you have either manually fiddled with dpkg or a previous package installation failed because of a broken maintainerscript / forbidden fileoverride or whatever. (That is a critical bug in the failing package!) APT by design never leaves you in a broken system state: Calculation correct paths from one good state to another is complicated enough, but paths from a bad into a good state are sometimes more complicated or even impossible… (or in this case to figure out the correct installation order as strategies which can be applied on good states doesn't always work in bad states and vise versa) E: Couldn't configure pre-depend openoffice.org-core for openoffice.org-evolution, probably a dependency cycle. I suspect that a strategy to avoid Conflicts/Breaks doesn't work correctly if your system is already broken… (together with a pre-depends of course, to add more fun). Could you run the following please? apt-get install -f -o Debug::pkgOrderList=1 -o Debug::pkgPackageManager=1 It could be also interesting to see what dpkg thinks about the situation dpkg --audit These two together should tell us in a bit more detail what is wrong. Bug#572246: iptotal: package presumes that apache2 is installed
Package: iptotal Version: 0.3.3-11 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable The package depends on apache2 or httpd. Bug#572252: `strcasestr' implicitly converted to pointer
Source: mksh Version: 39.3-1 Severity: serious Usertags: implicit-pointer-conversion Our automated buildd log filter[1] detected a problem that is likely to cause your package to segfault on architectures where the size of a pointer is greater than the size of an integer, such as ia64 and amd64. Function `strcasestr' implicitly converted to pointer at ] conftest.c:8 This is often due to a missing function prototype definition. For more information, see [2]. Though it is guaranteed that this codepath will cause a segfault on certain architectures, it is not guaranteed that this codepath would ever be executed (e.g., if the returned pointer is never dereferenced). However, this bug does prevent the ia64 buildd from successfully building this package, resulting in a practical FTBFS issue and warranting the serious severity. Bug#565706: grub2 enters rescue mode with fd0 cannot get C/H/S values
I've found a workaround for this one by changing a BIOS setting - it doesn't fix the underlying issue though. The BIOS setting was Legacy USB which was set to Auto and I have now set to Disabled. This means that the BIOS doesn't start the USB devices, so GRUB can't see them and doesn't get confused. The USB devices are still visible to the kernel though, so everything works fine. If you want me to try out any other patches, I'm happy to revert the changes to the BIOS and try one out, but I just thought I'd post this workaround for anyone else who's stuck on it. My system has three RAID1 md partitions across sda and sdb, containing swap, / and /boot and it has another disk (sdc). With these plugged in, it all works fine, but once I plug a USB drive in as well, the system won't start. I can get it to start by removing the USB drive and resetting it (ctrl-alt-del or power-cycle). This is not ideal though, as it's a hidden-away server which always has a USB disk plugged into it for backup purposes, so I cannot reboot it remotely because it won't start up again. -- Package-specific info: *** BEGIN /proc/mounts /dev/disk/by-uuid/b8ea7ba8-1e96-4e1c-8993-6a3118767dd5 / ext4 rw,relatime,errors=remount-ro,barrier=1,data=ordered 0 0 /dev/md2 /boot ext3 rw,relatime,errors=continue,data=ordered 0 0 /dev/sdc1 /mythrecordings ext4 rw,relatime,barrier=1,data=ordered 0 0 *** END /proc/mounts *** BEGIN /boot/grub/device.map (hd0) /dev/sda (hd1) /dev/sdb (hd2) /dev/sdc *** END /boot/grub/device.map *** BEGIN /boot/grub/grub.cfg # # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE # # It is automatically generated by /usr/sbin/grub-mkconfig using templates # from /etc/grub.d and settings from /etc/default/grub # ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/00_header ### if [ -s $prefix/grubenv ]; then load_env fi set default=0 if [ ${prev_saved_entry} ]; then set saved_entry=${prev_saved_entry} save_env saved_entry set prev_saved_entry= save_env prev_saved_entry set boot_once=true fi function savedefault { if [ -z ${boot_once} ]; then saved_entry=${chosen} save_env saved_entry fi } insmod raid insmod mdraid insmod ext2 set root=(md1) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set b8ea7ba8-1e96-4e1c-8993-6a3118767dd5 if loadfont /usr/share/grub/unicode.pf2 ; then set gfxmode=640x480 insmod gfxterm insmod vbe if terminal_output gfxterm ; then true ; else # For backward compatibility with versions of terminal.mod that don't # understand terminal_output terminal gfxterm fi fi insmod raid insmod mdraid insmod ext2 set root=(md2) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 7585406e-ce84-4bd5-afb6-e198efa46a94 set locale_dir=($root)/grub/locale set lang=en insmod gettext set timeout=5 ### END /etc/grub.d/00_header ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ### set menu_color_normal=cyan/blue set menu_color_highlight=white/blue ### END /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/10_linux ### menuentry Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.32-trunk-amd64 { insmod raid insmod mdraid insmod ext2 set root=(md2) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 7585406e-ce84-4bd5-afb6-e198efa46a94 echoLoading Linux 2.6.32-trunk-amd64 ... linux /vmlinuz-2.6.32-trunk-amd64 root=UUID=b8ea7ba8-1e96-4e1c-8993-6a3118767dd5 ro quiet echo Loading initial ramdisk ... initrd /initrd.img-2.6.32-trunk-amd64 } menuentry Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.32-trunk-amd64 (recovery mode) { insmod raid insmod mdraid insmod ext2 set root=(md2) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 7585406e-ce84-4bd5-afb6-e198efa46a94 echoLoading Linux 2.6.32-trunk-amd64 ... linux /vmlinuz-2.6.32-trunk-amd64 root=UUID=b8ea7ba8-1e96-4e1c-8993-6a3118767dd5 ro single echo Loading initial ramdisk ... initrd /initrd.img-2.6.32-trunk-amd64 } ### END /etc/grub.d/10_linux ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### ### END /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober ### ### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/40_custom ### # This file provides an easy way to add custom menu entries. I can reproduce the test failure by inserting the following rule on my system: ~$ sudo iptables -I OUTPUT --dst 239.239.239.18 -j DROP What is the firewall policy for build hosts? As it seems firewall rules are not identical since this test passes on other build hosts without problems. Is there a multicast group we could use which is allowed on all build hosts for test purposes? The other solution would be to disable the CORBA_MIOP test ... Note: This test *does not* need network/internet access. Those rebuild tests are not executed on the official buildd network. And you might very well have found a misconfiguration in my setup. The problem is that the CORBA/MIOP test also fails on some official build hosts [1]. Do you think that it would be enough to allow outgoing multicast with: iptables -A OUTPUT -p udp --dst 224.0.0.0/4 -j ACCEPT ? This depends on your current rule set. If outgoing multicast traffic is dropped, this rule would most probably fix our test case. Can you easily run a polyorb build with this rule active? Is there a policy which defines the network setup and firewall rules for an official build host? If every host is different, we better disable the MIOP test because testing multicast functionality cannot work reliably. [1] - http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=568814 I don't think that there's any policy about that. A build that fail when internet access is not available is usually a serious issue, because it might make it impossible to rebuild the package from source in the future. However, I don't know of any restrictions about the loopback network, or sending broadcast or multicast packets. Are you sure that the sparc build fails because of that? If that's the case, yes, it's probably a good idea to just drop that test. In other news, the package built fine on a similar system, but without any firewall configuration. -- | Lucas Nussbaum | lu...@lucas-nussbaum.net http://www.lucas-nussbaum.net/ | | jabber: lu...@nussbaum.fr GPG: 1024D/023B3F4F | -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Hello dear developers, I was testing lighttpd and got hit by this bug. I read the thread and I think that you are all right: 1. People upgrading existing systems expect smooth upgrade. 2. Fresh installed system are IPv6 enabled. 3. Disabling IPv6 on a new system should be possible and easy. Regarding the point #1, Debian provides appropriate infrastructures (NEWS.Debian and/or debconf), to warn system admins that a substantial changed occurred, and they should review/prevent/accept that change. Bug#571511: scanerrlog: FTBFS with Python 2.6 as default
Hi, The attached patch fixes this bug with --prefix=/usr. It also increases the minimum python-support dependency to 0.90, for full Python 2.6 compatibility, and build-depends on python, not python-dev. -- Jonathan Wiltshire 1024D: 0xDB800B52 / 4216 F01F DCA9 21AC F3D3 A903 CA6B EA3E DB80 0B52 4096R: 0xD3524C51 / 0A55 B7C5 1223 3942 86EC 74C3 5394 479D D352 4C51 diff -u old-scanerrlog-2.01/debian/control scanerrlog-2.01/debian/control --- old-scanerrlog-2.01/debian/control 2010-03-02 22:31:55.0 + +++ scanerrlog-2.01/debian/control 2010-03-02 22:33:40.0 + @@ -2,8 +2,8 @@ Section: admin Priority: extra Maintainer: Víctor Pérez Pereira vpe...@debianvenezuela.org -Build-Depends-Indep: python-jaxml, python-setuptools, python-support (= 0.6) -Build-Depends: debhelper ( 4.0.0), python-dev (= 2.4) +Build-Depends-Indep: python-jaxml, python-setuptools, python-support (= 0.90) +Build-Depends: debhelper ( 4.0.0), python (= 2.4) Standards-Version: 3.7.3 Package: scanerrlog diff -u old-scanerrlog-2.01/debian/rules scanerrlog-2.01/debian/rules --- old-scanerrlog-2.01/debian/rules 2010-03-02 22:31:55.0 + +++ scanerrlog-2.01/debian/rules 2010-03-02 22:32:33.0 + @@ -32,7 +32,7 @@ dh_clean -k dh_installdirs - python setup.py install -O2 --root $(CURDIR)/debian/scanerrlog + python setup.py install -O2 --root $(CURDIR)/debian/scanerrlog --prefix=/usr for f in $(CURDIR)/debian/scanerrlog/usr/*bin/*.py; do \ X=`echo $$f | sed -e 's/\.py$$//'`; \ mv $$f $$X; \ signature.asc Description: Digital signature
