Bug#577490: TGT renewal causes krb5kdc to crash on armel
Joel Johnson mrj...@lixil.net writes: Also forgot to add that I took the same database and /etc/krb5kdc/kdc.conf onto an amd64 box and didn't have the issue (could renew just fine)... of course the backtrace goes winding into nowhere and there is no valgrind support currently present for arm. Oh, right, arm. Yes. That rules out valgrind. However, if it is a heap clobber somewhere, valgrind might show it on other platforms. Whether or not that causes a crash can depend on platform as well as lots of other subtle code layout issues. -- Russ Allbery (r...@debian.org) http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Yes this is still an issue -Ursprüngliche Nachricht- Von: Niels Thykier [mailto:ni...@thykier.net] Gesendet: Sonntag, 11. April 2010 13:49 An: 390...@bugs.debian.org; 390661-submit...@bugs.debian.org Betreff: Bug#390661: libgcj7-0 breaks postgresql-8.1-pljava Hi Is this bug still valid? It appears to be filed against a non-existent binary package; the question is whether it should be reassigned to the current version of the binary or just closed. It is currently listed as blocked by #488989 in a package (java-common) that I co-maintain and I would like to know if it is still relevant or I can close it. Depending on the circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and diversions should only be used when packages provide different implementations for the same functionality. Bug#572769: progress under way
Hi, some progress is under way to fix this issue: I commited changes to the repository resulting in a refurbished kdm greeter with working menus. I currently try to unify and clean the gdm and kdm xml-definition. Up to the items defining the entries (kdm has user-entry and pw-entry, gdm a combined user-pw-entry), this seems to be possible. I want to do some more tests and commit the changes after that. Regards, Andi -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? I'm not sure if we should release a package in this state. Attached is a proposed patch which includes the simple fix for the FTBFS and adds $remote_fs to init script dependency to fix the lintian error. Erik, are you working on getting this package updated? Yes. I am working on it. One option to fix the breakage and get a controlled transition later is to upload the older libdbi-perl with an epoch and do binNMUs again, That still means sourceful uploads for libdbd-mysql-perl and libdbd-csv-perl, which already had their dependencies bumped. Right; IMO doing it right now would be better; reverting the change also leads to work and postpones the transition only. DBI 1.610_90 is considered a development release on CPAN, and it looks like it was introduced for libdbd-csv-perl 0.2800-1, see #576672. Yup. However, DBI.pm 1.611 (contained in libdbi-perl 1.610.90-1) is only a recommendation in META.yml. The requirement is just 1.00. *sigh* So we could have avoided the current situation by looking closer ... Bug#508589: I also encounter this bug regularly
I'm using an up to date Lenny installation, standard kernel: Linux version 2.6.26-2-686 (Debian 2.6.26-21lenny4) (da...@debian.org) (gcc version 4.1.3 20080704 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.2-25)) #1 SMP Tue Mar 9 17:35:51 UTC 2010 I encounter this problem much too often and each time it requires a hard reboot. Strangely, the mouse still works so I can log out of kde, but then the shutdown process hangs until I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL. Then it continues, but the laptop (Dell 8600) doesn't shut down all the way. I have to hold the power button for 10 seconds and then it does shut down. This is a very low level issue. I don't use kppp. This happens with regular poff. I suspect it's related to the cdc_acm driver which is the one being used by my phone (motorola e815) through a usb cable. It's not 100% repeatable. It might be a race condition and I have encountered it most often a couple of seconds after issuing a poff, before disconnecting the usb cable. It does not seem to happen if the ppp connection is terminated by the other side (LCP terminated by peer). It requires fop tool which apparently doesn't work without X server in curent stable (lenny). So, if you want to build the Debian package I'd suggest to setup a build environment with X server (may be the dummy one, see xserver-xorg-video-dummy package). Anyway, this list doesn't seem to be an appropriate place to discuss distribution-specific problems. Submitting a bugreport to submit ◎ bugs · debian · org would be better. Bug#573269: Reproducible workaround for #573269
- Pidgin fails to start - Run gstreamer-properties. It will complain about the same issue with libgstlv2.so but will continue to start up. This apparently does whatever initalizitation pidgin requires - Run pidgin again, it will start correctly. Apparently a reboot will restart the cycle; according to kiroken, removing .gstreamer0.10 will do so as well. signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature
Bug#577490: TGT renewal causes krb5kdc to crash on armel
tags 577490 confirmed, upstream thanks I've confirmed this happens on i386 and basically understand what's going on. I'm not sure I have the right fix at this point. For renewal and validation, do_tgs_req.c sets enc_tkt_reply to *header_ticket-enc_part2. later, handle_tgt_authdata copies the TGT_authdata (from header_tkt) to the reply authdata. I have not confirmed exactly why krb5_copy_authdata fails when its input and output are the same, but I'm quite certain that routine is not designed to work in that case. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#577548: unable to compile erlang-dev 1:13.b.4 w/o X server
severity 577548 minor thanks On Mon, Apr 12, 2010 at 8:27 PM, Aaron Winborn winb...@advomatic.com wrote: I am unable to compile erlang-dev 1:13.b.4 without X server installed on the system. The package builds fine on Debian unstable and testing. It isn't supposed to build for lenny (except for backporting), so I don't think that it's worth grave severity. If you absolutely need to build Erlang on lenny without X then you could install sun-java6-jdk (from non-free) and configure it to be a primary java runtime (using update-alternatives --config java). The main reason why I filed a bug report is so that we know / are reminded that this is an issue that we need to resolve before we can release (or have to release with an older version). Bug#540757: Deprecated usbfs handling
Hi! Sorry for x-posting, but it's not entirely sure to me where to fix it. I came across #574180 and started looking for the culprit. It's clearly caused by #540757. To sum things up again: fxload reads DEVICE from the environment, but DEVICE is set to /proc/bus/usb instead of /dev/bus/usb. As stated in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/311481 the DEVICE variable is set by the kernel if CONFIG_USB_DEVICEFS is enabled, which is currently the case in Debian. I finally added SUBSYSTEM==usb, ENV{DEVTYPE}==usb_interface, ENV{DEVICE}=/dev/%P to /lib/udev/rules.d/50-udev-default.rules. This line overwrites the errorneous DEVICE variable. Luckily, %P (parent, see udev(7)) contains the right value, so all we need to do is to prefix this with /dev/. Since I'm not common with udev, I didn't want to file a wishlist bug against udev, but discuss the approach, first. The line could either be added to midisport-firmware's rules file. Or to udev (upstream?) in general. Where's the right place for this? Is it the right approach at all? Bug#540757: Deprecated usbfs handling

Bug#577209: libdbi-perl: DBIDBD ABI change breaks partial upgrades
On Mon, Apr 12, 2010 at 04:38:58PM +0200, gregor herrmann wrote: On Mon, 12 Apr 2010 08:51:55 +0300, Niko Tyni wrote: On Sun, Apr 11, 2010 at 10:54:30PM +0300, Niko Tyni wrote: The sid breakage should be gone with the binNMUs, but I think the partial upgrade issue is RC, so reopening and reassigning. One option to fix the breakage and get a controlled transition later is to upload the older libdbi-perl with an epoch and do binNMUs again, That still means sourceful uploads for libdbd-mysql-perl and libdbd-csv-perl, which already had their dependencies bumped. (Correction: no sourceful uploads would be necessary for this step. libdbd-csv-perl is arch:all and therefore not affected by the issue. The current libdbd-mysql-perl version could be reverted back to the old ABI level (94) with a binNMU against the epoch'd libdbi-perl 1:1.609-1 just like all the others.) The binNMUs that have already migrated (at least libdbd-sybase-perl, libdbd-odbc-perl, and libdbd-sqlite2-perl on some architectures) are currently broken in squeeze. Unfortunately any new binNMUs are going to get stalled behind perl 5.10.1-12, which I uploaded last night with urgency=low, so quick fixes for squeeze seem to be impossible anyway. Right; IMO doing it right now would be better; reverting the change also leads to work and postpones the transition only. Do we really want to have a DBI development release in squeeze? It doesn't seem to be actually needed for anything. If we don't want it, postponing the transition becomes a positive effect. I think that the epoch option would get squeeze into a releasable state quicker, but it's possible that I'm overengineering all this. The additional work with the epoch option is only binNMUs, and the number of sourceful uploads stays the same AFAICS. The summary as I see it: Plan A: don't look back (A0. wait for libdbi-perl 1.610.90-1 and all the current binNMUs to enter squeeze to fix the immediate breakage) A1. upload libdbi-perl 1.610.90-2 that Provides: perl-dbdabi-95 and possibly Breaks: libdbd-*-perl versions older than the current binNMUs A2. get sourceful uploads done for all the libdbd-*-perl packages adding a (preferrably binNMU safe) dependency on perl-dbdabi-95 When these get in squeeze we're probably non-RC, but things may be difficult for derivative distributions and stable updates. That can be fixed by A3. upload libdbi-perl 1.610.90-3 that Breaks: all the libdbd-*-perl packages earlier than A2 Plan B: revert for now B1. upload libdbi-perl 1:1.609-2 that Provides: perl-dbdabi-94 B2. binNMU libdbd-*-perl; wait until the currently broken binNMUs in squeeze are superseded At this point I think we're non-RC, effectively at square one. We can now prepare the transition properly: B3. file bugs to get a binNMU safe perl-dbdabi-N dependency, into libdbd-*-perl, N==94 at this point B4. once those are fixed, upload libdbi-perl 1:1.610.90-2 (or a later real release if that's preferred) that Provides: perl-dbdabi-95 and Breaks: libdbd-*-perl versions older than B3. B5. then binNMU the libdbd-*-perl packages to update them to perl-dbdabi-95 While I'm certainly arguing for plan B here, I'm open to persuasion :) Please point out any mistakes, my head hurts after all this. I'm of course willing to help (time permitting) with the implementation of any scheme that gets this issue fixed once we have consensus. -- Niko Tyni nt...@debian.org -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#577299: running debconf as non-root (for tests)
reassign 577299 debconf 1.5.29 tags 577299 pending thanks On Mon, Apr 12, 2010 at 09:13:45PM +0200, Serafeim Zanikolas wrote: Colin's fix of #575070 [0] breaks update-inetd's tests (#577299) due to debconf not running anymore as non-root: $ LC_ALL=C ./update-inetd --file /tmp/tmpP6yZ5F.modified --verbose --remove 'time2' debconf: DbDriver passwords warning: could not open /var/cache/debconf/passwords.dat: Permission denied The message there is a perfectly normal and largely harmless warning that you've always got when running debconf as non-root. (Non-root users can't read the password database, although it's configured in /etc/debconf.conf. As such, debconf skips it, but warns about it.) Earlier versions of debconf behaved the same way. Furthermore, the warning you quote is merely a warning, and is not the same as the error message in the bug log. Read carefully - config.dat != passwords.dat. Nevertheless, this is still a debconf bug; see below ... Sebastian mentioned DEBCONF_DEB_REPLACE in the above bug report but I didn't find a single reference of it in debconf's sources and docs. It's a typo for DEBCONF_DB_REPLACE (but not relevant here). How's one supposed to run debconf as non-root? I didn't need to do anything special up to now. Actually, the problem is that debconf now doesn't work under *fakeroot* without configuration. (But my change wasn't really what broke this; I merely unbroke things slightly from a previous change by Joey to fix problems on Solaris.) It would appear that perl's -w operator doesn't use access() by default to test whether the file is writable, but instead simply looks at the file modes; use filetest 'access' changes this to be more careful, and is what we need to fix this bug. I've fixed this in debconf's Subversion repository, and will upload 1.5.31 shortly. I've tested that this unbreaks update-inetd's test suite. Bug#577209: libdbi-perl: DBIDBD ABI change breaks partial upgrades
On Mon, 12 Apr 2010 21:49:56 +0300, Niko Tyni wrote: One option to fix the breakage and get a controlled transition later is to upload the older libdbi-perl with an epoch and do binNMUs again, That still means sourceful uploads for libdbd-mysql-perl and libdbd-csv-perl, which already had their dependencies bumped. (Correction: no sourceful uploads would be necessary for this step. libdbd-csv-perl is arch:all and therefore not affected by the issue. The current libdbd-mysql-perl version could be reverted back to the old ABI level (94) with a binNMU against the epoch'd libdbi-perl 1:1.609-1 just like all the others.) Ack. The binNMUs that have already migrated (at least libdbd-sybase-perl, libdbd-odbc-perl, and libdbd-sqlite2-perl on some architectures) are currently broken in squeeze. Oops, I hadn't realized how fast binNMUs migrate. Right; IMO doing it right now would be better; reverting the change also leads to work and postpones the transition only. Do we really want to have a DBI development release in squeeze? It doesn't seem to be actually needed for anything. If we don't want it, postponing the transition becomes a positive effect. I think in general we don't want development releases, and this one was a (wrong) exception ... Plan A: don't look back When these get in squeeze we're probably non-RC, but things may be difficult for derivative distributions and stable updates. Good point. Plan B: revert for now B4. once those are fixed, upload libdbi-perl 1:1.610.90-2 (or a later real release if that's preferred) A real release would be preferrable IMO. While I'm certainly arguing for plan B here, I'm open to persuasion :) Please point out any mistakes, my head hurts after all this. My head hurts, too, and that only after reading :) Thanks for taking the time to analyze this mess! (Maybe someone else still reading along with less headache also has some thoughts?) After reading through the two plans now for the fifth time, I think plan B brings a stable state earlier, since plan A relies on the sourceful libdbd-*-perl packages. I'm of course willing to help (time permitting) with the implementation of any scheme that gets this issue fixed once we have consensus. Thanks!
