the package is missing a sample configuration file of the service. Something
like /usr/share/doc/ldirectord/ldirectord.cf

Without a sample file the package uses have to search one from the net, which

You could use a sample from the old packages.

Bug#578026: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: should not migrate to testing before linux-2.6

2010-04-16 Thread Sven Joachim
Package: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
Version: 1:0.0.15+git20100329+7858345-3
Severity: serious

This package needs the nouveau.ko kernel module which is not available
in Squeeze kernels. It must not migrate to testing until a suitable
linux-2.6 (and preferably linux-latest-2.6) version is in place.

Package: libgettext-ruby1.8
Version: 2.1.0-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package uninstallable
Tags: patch

Starting with version 1.8.7.249-3, the ruby1.8 package provides
and conflicts with irb1.8. Since libgettext-ruby1.8 has a
versioned dependency on irb1.8, this makes libgettext-ruby1.8
uninstallable with recent ruby1.8 versions.

Fix it by explicitly allow ruby1.8 as an alternative
implementation.

Bug#576637: cpio: FTBFS: multiple definition of `fatal_exit'

The former: it shoud exit with code 2. Thanks for reporting.

This patch (plus an “autoreconf -fi” to make sure the patched

Maybe it can be useful.

Subject: Remove the extra definition of fatal_exit from mt

Including two versions of fatal_exit() (one from 47cc786, one
from upstream) is causing multiple definition errors on some
machines. Remove fatal_exit() from mt.c, which should solve that
problem and also return the proper error code (instead of 1).

Bug#574269: Quick and dirty fix

2010-04-16 Thread Mau
Hi,

could the cifs-utils package just provide some umount.cifs symlink
pointing to umount? I currently fixed this issue that way, and it works
fine.
Otherwise, smb4k should include a configuration option in order to allow
users to choose the correct umount command.

IMHO, any other solution won't be optimal.

Thanks

Bug#577519: Provides: irb1.8 broken, no upgrade possible with libgettext-ruby1.8 (or any irb1.8 rdep) installed

2010-04-16 Thread Jonathan Nieder
retitle 577519 packages with versioned dep on irb1.8 are not installable
thanks

Hi Francesco,

Francesco Poli wrote:

 please keep the severity high,
or otherwise the issue will propagate to testing: there are packages
which are already uninstallable in unstable (for instance:
apt-listbugs) due to this issue, I would like to avoid uninstallable
 packages in Debian testing!

FWIW, I do not think this is necessary. As the britney documentation [1]
explains, the effect of each package on the installability of the
distribution is checked before it migrates automatically to testing.

Thanks still,
Jonathan

Bug#578036: new havp packages

2010-04-16 Thread Török Edwin

I see that there are new HAVP packages here:
http://volatile.debian.org/debian-volatile/pool/volatile/main/h/havp/

Is it same problem as described here? (i.e. package not built for all
arches yet, hence not showing up in apt)

Best regards,

Bug#578041: mysql-server-core-5.1: mysql server does not start

2010-04-16 Thread Joe

Package: mysql-server-core-5.1
Version: 5.1.45-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Mysqld fails to start after most recent upgrade, dated April 10th.
Problem appears to be incorrect filename in /etc/init.d/mysql which
checks existence of /usr/sbin/mysqld but invokes /usr/bin/mysqld_safe,
which does not exist. Changing that name to /usr/sbin/mysqld appears to
allow normal starting, but with errors. The source file
/usr/share/mysql/debian-start.inc.sh which is referenced in
/etc/mysql/debian-start does not exist, so the commands used in
debian-start are not found. The mysql files under /etc all have old
dates, though they agree with the April 10th contents of
/usr/share/mysql-common/internal-use-only, in using incorrect or missing
filenames.

It should show up in apt if you enable the

Hi,

Well, CDT 3.1.2 won't work with eclipse 3.5 in unstable, it works with eclipse

We should upgrade this to CDT 6.0.x.

BTW...where's the source for that? I couldn't find it... ;(
Should we get it from CVS?

Upgrading Pydev for Eclipse maybe solve this as well (at least need to use

You can get latest org.python.pydev.feature-1.5.6.2010033101-sources.zip from
 from http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/files/

Please consider to upgrade it. Thanks.

Bug#571961: RFS: jackbeat (updated package)

2010-04-16 Thread M. van Brummelen
Hi,

I am looking for a sponsor for the new version 0.7.4-1.1
of my package jackbeat.

It builds these binary packages:
jackbeat - a drum machine-like audio sequencer with JACK support

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix a (serious)bug: 571961

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/j/jackbeat
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable
main contrib non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/j/jackbeat/jackbeat_0.7.4-1.1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Kind regards
 Martijn van Brummelen

Hi

We already got the upstream sources imported [1] on alioth. The new
version of eclipse-cdt depends on eclipse-emf[2] and eclipse-rse[3] as I
recall. Both eclipse-emf and eclipse-rse is currently able to build
binary packages, but have not been uploaded yet.
You are more than welcome to join the effort of getting the new
release of eclipse-cdt packaged. We could definitely use a hand,
especially since the release of eclipse 3.6 is drawing closer and may
take a lot of our time.

Bug#577661: DSPAM package in Debian

2010-04-16 Thread Stevan Bajić
If you think that it should be orphaned instead of being removed from
Debian, please reply to this bug and tell so.

If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please
just close this bug and do an upload also fixing the other issues

How can one take ownership of this package? I am not a Debian developer but I
don't think that packaging DSPAM for Debian would be such an big issue. I have
created the current package for Gentoo Linux and have done the initial RPM
package for Fedora/Red Hat (which is now distributed in EPEL) that got later
updated and pushed through all instances at Fedora by Nathanael D. Noblet
(without his involvement the package would not have made it into Fedora). And I
am the lead developer behind DSPAM. I think I could manage to make a Debian
package for DSPAM.

Would it be possible to leave the current DSPAM package in Debian for another
30 or 60 days?

This would give me enough time to make and test an Debian package for DSPAM and
submit it to the Debian team.

Let me know if it is possible to do that.

Hi,

The following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities Exposures) ids were
published for expat. I have determined that this package embeds a
vulnerable copy of xmlparse.c and xmltok_impl.c. However, since this is
a mass bug filing (due to so many packages embedding expat), I have
not had time to determine whether the vulnerable code is actually
present in any of the binary packages derived from this source package.
Please determine whether this is the case. If the binary packages are
not affected, please feel free to close the bug with a message
containing the details of what you did to check.

CVE-2009-3560[0]:
| The big2_toUtf8 function in lib/xmltok.c in libexpat in Expat 2.0.1,
| as used in the XML-Twig module for Perl, allows context-dependent
| attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via an XML
| document with malformed UTF-8 sequences that trigger a buffer
| over-read, related to the doProlog function in lib/xmlparse.c, a
| different vulnerability than CVE-2009-2625 and CVE-2009-3720.

CVE-2009-3720[1]:
| The updatePosition function in lib/xmltok_impl.c in libexpat in Expat
| 2.0.1, as used in Python, PyXML, w3c-libwww, and other software,
| allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service
| (application crash) via an XML document with crafted UTF-8 sequences
| that trigger a buffer over-read, a different vulnerability than
| CVE-2009-2625.

These issues also affect old versions of expat, so this package in etch
and lenny is very likely affected. This is a low-severity security
issue, so DSAs will not be issued to correct these problems. However,
you can optionally submit a proposed-update to the release team for
inclusion in the next stable point releases. If you plan to do this,
please open new bugs and include the security tag so we are aware that
you are working on that.

For further information see [0],[1],[2],[3]. In particular, [2] and [3]
are links to the patches for CVE-2009-3560 and CVE-2009-3720
respectively. Note that the ideal solution would be to make use of the
system expat so only one package will need to be updated for future
security issues. Preferably in your update to unstable, alter your
package to make use of the system expat.

If you fix the vulnerability please also make sure to include the
CVE id in your changelog entry.

Bug#577886: mozvoikko: FTBFS: nscore.h:406:2

2010-04-16 Thread Harri Pitkänen
tags 577886 + patch
thanks

This bug is due to build configuration difference between xulrunner and
mozvoikko. Xulrunner is now built with -std=gnu++0x, attached patch adds the
same option to mozvoikko build. This fixes the build and short testing
suggests that the extension seems to work on amd64.

I know nothing about the reasons behind the decision to use -std=gnu++0x for
xulrunner and whether extensions are supposed to be built this way in the
future. If this should be the standard configuration then I'd suggests that
this option should be set automatically through pkg-config for all xulrunner
using applications instead of patching this package.

Bug#561347: flumotion: uses non-essential package in, pre-rtupdate script

2010-04-16 Thread Giovanni Rapagnani
Hello,

I read the code involved for stopping flumotion and basically it is a
matter of retrieving the pid's from the /var/run/flumotion/*.pid files
and terminating/waiting/killing the processes. I propose a fix that does
it without calling the python code. Hope this will be usefull.

Cheers.

Bug#508589: Problem solved by updating the kernel

2010-04-16 Thread A. F. Cano
Since I resurrected this bug with my previous report, I suppose I should
forward this fix (from someone else on debian-user) which means that
this bug can be closed. It is (as I suspected) a kernel/driver issue
solved by going to a backported kernel.

- Forwarded message from Rodolfo Medina rodolfo.med...@gmail.com -

To: debian-u...@lists.debian.org
From: Rodolfo Medina rodolfo.med...@gmail.com
Subject: [solved] Re: Kernel updating
Date: Tue, 13 Apr 2010 14:06:06 +0200

Rodolfo Medina rodolfo.med...@gmail.com writes:

When I close a PPP connection with `C-c', the keyboard gets stuck and I have
to reboot the system. The problem is reported here:

  http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=508589

In the hope of fixing it by updating the kernel, I want to install a freshly
new one from the backport repositories. Can anyone suggest the exact package
name? I have Lenny on an old Pentium III.

Stephen Powell zlinux...@wowway.com writes:

 I would suggest linux-image-2.6.32-bpo.3-686

That appears to be the closest to what is in Squeeze right now.

The problem seems to be solved updating the kernel. It is easy to do:

I added to /etc/apt/sources.list the following line:

deb http://www.backports.org/debian lenny-backports main contrib non-free

, then connected to internet and did:

 # apt-get update

 # apt-get -t etch-backports install linux-image-2.6.32-bpo.3-686

Now, the command `$ls /boot' got the following output:

config-2.6.26-1-686 initrd.img-2.6.26-1-686.bak vmlinuz-2.6.26-1-686
config-2.6.32-bpo.3-686 initrd.img-2.6.32-bpo.3-686 vmlinuz-2.6.32-bpo.3-686
grub System.map-2.6.26-1-686
initrd.img-2.6.26-1-686 System.map-2.6.32-bpo.3-686

, and in /boot/grub/menu.lst the new kernel was already listed. Then I
rebooted.

Bye,
Rodolfo

Sounds good, I would tag to pending this bug.

You are more than welcome to join the effort of getting the new
release of eclipse-cdt packaged. We could definitely use a hand,
especially since the release of eclipse 3.6 is drawing closer and may
take a lot of our time.

If I have more time and skill for that... ;)

Package: libsdl1.2debian-all
Version: 1.2.14-3
Severity: critical
Tags: upstream

Upgrading libsdl from 1.2.13-5 to 1.2.14-3 breaks Wesnoth. I tested with
both Wesnoth 1.6.5-1 and a recent upstream Wesnoth trunk revision.
Somebody did some more testing [1] and the problem seems to depend on
the WM (I use fvwm). We also have a conversation with Sam Lantinga on
our mailinglist [2][3][4].

The problem is that after the upgrade the buttons in the user interface
no longer work. Clicking with the mouse on a button in the main menu
does nothing at all, rendering Wesnoth completely unusable. I did some
testing and it seems the widgets only receive a mouse button up event
and no mouse button down event. The Wesnoth engine expects both events
before registering a click on the widget.

I haven't tested other applications that use SDL, but I can do that if
you want me to.
