Bug#574269: Quick and dirty fix
Hi, could the cifs-utils package just provide some umount.cifs symlink pointing to umount? I currently fixed this issue that way, and it works fine. Otherwise, smb4k should include a configuration option in order to allow users to choose the correct umount command. IMHO, any other solution won't be optimal. Bug#577519: Provides: irb1.8 broken, no upgrade possible with libgettext-ruby1.8 (or any irb1.8 rdep) installed
retitle 577519 packages with versioned dep on irb1.8 are not installable thanks Hi Francesco, Francesco Poli wrote: please keep the severity high, or otherwise the issue will propagate to testing: there are packages which are already uninstallable in unstable (for instance: apt-listbugs) due to this issue, I would like to avoid uninstallable packages in Debian testing! FWIW, I do not think this is necessary. As the britney documentation [1] explains, the effect of each package on the installability of the distribution is checked before it migrates automatically to testing. Bug#578041: mysql-server-core-5.1: mysql server does not start
Package: mysql-server-core-5.1 Version: 5.1.45-3 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Mysqld fails to start after most recent upgrade, dated April 10th. Problem appears to be incorrect filename in /etc/init.d/mysql which checks existence of /usr/sbin/mysqld but invokes /usr/bin/mysqld_safe, which does not exist. Changing that name to /usr/sbin/mysqld appears to allow normal starting, but with errors. The source file /usr/share/mysql/debian-start.inc.sh which is referenced in /etc/mysql/debian-start does not exist, so the commands used in debian-start are not found. The mysql files under /etc all have old dates, though they agree with the April 10th contents of /usr/share/mysql-common/internal-use-only, in using incorrect or missing filenames. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages mysql-server-core-5.1 depends on: ii libc6 2.10.2-6 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libgcc1 1:4.4.3-7GCC support library ii libstdc++6 4.4.3-7 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libwrap07.6.q-18 Wietse Venema's TCP wrappers libra ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3 compression library - runtime mysql-server-core-5.1 recommends no packages. mysql-server-core-5.1 suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- Joe -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#577661: DSPAM package in Debian
If you think that it should be orphaned instead of being removed from Debian, please reply to this bug and tell so. If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please just close this bug and do an upload also fixing the other issues How can one take ownership of this package? I am not a Debian developer but I don't think that packaging DSPAM for Debian would be such an big issue. I have created the current package for Gentoo Linux and have done the initial RPM package for Fedora/Red Hat (which is now distributed in EPEL) that got later updated and pushed through all instances at Fedora by Nathanael D. Noblet (without his involvement the package would not have made it into Fedora). And I am the lead developer behind DSPAM. I think I could manage to make a Debian package for DSPAM. Would it be possible to leave the current DSPAM package in Debian for another 30 or 60 days? This would give me enough time to make and test an Debian package for DSPAM and submit it to the Debian team. Let me know if it is possible to do that. -- Kind Regards from Switzerland, Stevan Bajić -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? CVE-2009-3560[0]: | The big2_toUtf8 function in lib/xmltok.c in libexpat in Expat 2.0.1, | as used in the XML-Twig module for Perl, allows context-dependent | attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via an XML | document with malformed UTF-8 sequences that trigger a buffer | over-read, related to the doProlog function in lib/xmlparse.c, a | different vulnerability than CVE-2009-2625 and CVE-2009-3720. CVE-2009-3720[1]: | The updatePosition function in lib/xmltok_impl.c in libexpat in Expat | 2.0.1, as used in Python, PyXML, w3c-libwww, and other software, | allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service | (application crash) via an XML document with crafted UTF-8 sequences | that trigger a buffer over-read, a different vulnerability than | CVE-2009-2625. These issues also affect old versions of expat, so this package in etch and lenny is very likely affected. This is a low-severity security issue, so DSAs will not be issued to correct these problems. However, you can optionally submit a proposed-update to the release team for inclusion in the next stable point releases. If you plan to do this, please open new bugs and include the security tag so we are aware that you are working on that. For further information see [0],[1],[2],[3]. In particular, [2] and [3] are links to the patches for CVE-2009-3560 and CVE-2009-3720 respectively. Note that the ideal solution would be to make use of the system expat so only one package will need to be updated for future security issues. Preferably in your update to unstable, alter your package to make use of the system expat. If you fix the vulnerability please also make sure to include the CVE id in your changelog entry. Bug#577886: mozvoikko: FTBFS: nscore.h:406:2
tags 577886 + patch thanks This bug is due to build configuration difference between xulrunner and mozvoikko. Xulrunner is now built with -std=gnu++0x, attached patch adds the same option to mozvoikko build. This fixes the build and short testing suggests that the extension seems to work on amd64. I know nothing about the reasons behind the decision to use -std=gnu++0x for xulrunner and whether extensions are supposed to be built this way in the future. If this should be the standard configuration then I'd suggests that this option should be set automatically through pkg-config for all xulrunner using applications instead of patching this package. Bug#508589: Problem solved by updating the kernel
Since I resurrected this bug with my previous report, I suppose I should forward this fix (from someone else on debian-user) which means that this bug can be closed. It is (as I suspected) a kernel/driver issue solved by going to a backported kernel. - Forwarded message from Rodolfo Medina rodolfo.med...@gmail.com - To: debian-u...@lists.debian.org From: Rodolfo Medina rodolfo.med...@gmail.com Subject: [solved] Re: Kernel updating Date: Tue, 13 Apr 2010 14:06:06 +0200 Rodolfo Medina rodolfo.med...@gmail.com writes: When I close a PPP connection with `C-c', the keyboard gets stuck and I have to reboot the system. The problem is reported here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=508589 In the hope of fixing it by updating the kernel, I want to install a freshly new one from the backport repositories. Can anyone suggest the exact package name? I have Lenny on an old Pentium III. Stephen Powell zlinux...@wowway.com writes: I would suggest linux-image-2.6.32-bpo.3-686 That appears to be the closest to what is in Squeeze right now. The problem seems to be solved updating the kernel. It is easy to do: I added to /etc/apt/sources.list the following line: deb http://www.backports.org/debian lenny-backports main contrib non-free , then connected to internet and did: # apt-get update # apt-get -t etch-backports install linux-image-2.6.32-bpo.3-686 Now, the command `$ls /boot' got the following output: config-2.6.26-1-686 initrd.img-2.6.26-1-686.bak vmlinuz-2.6.26-1-686 config-2.6.32-bpo.3-686 initrd.img-2.6.32-bpo.3-686 vmlinuz-2.6.32-bpo.3-686 grub System.map-2.6.26-1-686 initrd.img-2.6.26-1-686 System.map-2.6.32-bpo.3-686 , and in /boot/grub/menu.lst the new kernel was already listed. I tested with both Wesnoth 1.6.5-1 and a recent upstream Wesnoth trunk revision. Somebody did some more testing [1] and the problem seems to depend on the WM (I use fvwm). We also have a conversation with Sam Lantinga on our mailinglist [2][3][4]. The problem is that after the upgrade the buttons in the user interface no longer work. Clicking with the mouse on a button in the main menu does nothing at all, rendering Wesnoth completely unusable. I did some testing and it seems the widgets only receive a mouse button up event and no mouse button down event. The Wesnoth engine expects both events before registering a click on the widget. I haven't tested other applications that use SDL, but I can do that if you want me to.
