Bug#590273: phasex: FTBFS: Build using -march=native
Your package is trying to use things like -march=native which it shouldn't do for package. This means it's building for the cpu it runs on, and will not run on older CPUs. Matthias, Why didn't you close this bug when you upload 4.5.0-10? you have waited for the buildd to complete successfully (last night) before closing, is this because you weren't sure you have fixed it and just upload the package *hoping* it's done? You use this pattern a lot, so I start to think you just makewild guess uploads, see if the bugs are fixed and then close later. Reply. Bug#562313: guile-pg: diff for NMU version 0.16-4.2
Dear maintainer, I've prepared an NMU for guile-pg (versioned as 0.16-4.2) and uploaded it to DELAYED/3. This fixes the info dir.gz problem which made the previous NMU REJECTED. In particular, if an attacker were to create a crafted working copy where the user runs any git command, the attacker could force execution of arbitrary code. This attack should be mitigated to a denial of service if git is compiled with appropriate stack-protecting flags. This buffer overrun was introduced in [3], which first appeared in v1.5.6, and is fixed in v1.7.2. Hello Ralf, hello Loïc, Thank you for the bugreport. * Ralf Treinen [Wed, May 05, 2010 at 09:07:24PM +0200]: Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages (according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be slightly out of sync): /usr/bin/ecm /usr/share/man/man1/ecm.1.gz I can change the name of the ecm binary and manpage in my package if needed, but it seems to me it would be better for the users if the ecm package changed the names of the binary/manpage, for the following reasons: (1) gmp-ecm has used this name longer, (2) gmp-ecm has more users according to popcon (not quite fair because of (1)). Bug#590453: libgtk2-perl: Gtk2::FileChooserDialog signal produces different response to -run()
On Tue, 27 Jul 2010 07:20:54 +0200, Jeffrey Ratcliffe wrote: Upstream thinks that it is a new problem with Gtk2/Glib 1.230: http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gtk-perl-list/2010-July/msg00012.html At the moment, there is no patch. Thanks for checking! I'll test the new stable branches, but I assume they are unaffected, so I suggest that we upload these. Hm. What make me a bit unhappy about that is uscan will again show us 1.230 if they are in the same directory (and use the same filename/versioning scheme). And 1.230 is not yet in testing, so we now have an unstable version in unstable :) (Just some random morning thoughts.) We would have to bump the epoch to upload 1.222 over 1.230, wouldn't we? I'd assume that networkmanager offers an option to get slightly more verbose debugging output than 2 unnamed dots not becoming green, if not there's always wpa_cli and dmesg, which will likely be more verbose about the failure condition. Therefore I'd like to ask for the output of: - lspci -knn - lsusb [ depending if you're using a PCI- or USB based wlan card ] - dmesg - wpa_cli status Furthermore it would be helpful to know if the affected wlan card can operate at all, e.g. by invoking a scan request (iw dev wlan0 scan). -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages wpasupplicant depends on: ii adduser 3.112 add and remove users and groups ii libc6 2.10.2-6 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libdbus-1-3 1.2.24-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libnl11.1-5 library for dealing with netlink s ii libpcsclite1 1.5.5-3Middleware to access a smart card ii libreadline6 6.1-3 GNU readline and history libraries ii libssl0.9.8 0.9.8o-1 SSL shared libraries ii lsb-base 3.2-23.1 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip I notice that you're not using pure testing, but rather quite a package mix between stable and testing, which, at least when it comes to the default udev version (158-1) in squeeze, is not compatible to lenny's 2.6.26 kernel[1] and might be a reason for quite some problems, including wireless. Furthermore especially mac80211 based drivers have seen quite some bugfixes since kernel 2.6.26, so testing the current default kernel in squeeze (=2.6.32-15) would definately be appreciated. While partial upgrades between stable and testing/ following stable are supposed to work, they're definately less tested than pure incarnations of either, especially here dbus communication between wpasupplicant, dbus/hal and networkmanager might be affected. While issues like these should be fixed (or at least clarified in package dependencies), it's hard to reproduce or pinpoint without further information. Bug#590126: rcmdr: FTBFS on mips{,el}: Error : package 'tcltk' could not be loaded
Dear MIPSers, I am in need of some help here -- r-base stopped building with tcl/tk support, and this now trickles down to R packages using tcl/tk (which fail, as in this FTBFS). Bug#590126: rcmdr: FTBFS on mips{,el}: Error : package 'tcltk' could not be loaded
(Resending, this time with correct email address. Doh. --Dirk) Dear MIPSers, I am in need of some help here -- r-base stopped building with tcl/tk support, and this now trickles down to R packages using tcl/tk (which fail, as in this FTBFS). There was no change whatsoever at R, and other arches continue to work. I can accomodate things, but I would need a hand from someone with mips / mipsel expertise. Bug#590594: dbus: FTBFS with dh_link: link destination debian/dbus-1-dbg/usr/share/doc/dbus-1-dbg is a directory if dh-buildinfo is installed
Package: dbus Version: 1.2.24-2 Severity: serious For testing the fix for http://bugs.debian.org/589662, I built the patched version on my own kfreebsd-i386 box where it FTBFS with the following error message: dh_link -pdbus-1-dbg dh_link: link destination debian/dbus-1-dbg/usr/share/doc/dbus-1-dbg is a directory make: *** [binary-install/dbus-1-dbg] Error 255 dpkg-buildpackage: error: fakeroot debian/rules binary gave error exit status 2 Then I built it in io's sid chroot and it built fine. Since the fix worked, I installed the patched version on io (to get the hal update working) and planned to do so on asdfasdf. But in asdfasdf's sid chroot, it FTBFS as on my box. Since in comparison to my box, there are no experimental packages installed in the sid chroot of asdfasdf, there seems to be another cause, maybe a missing Build-Conflicts or so. The directory mentinoned in the error message looks like this: $ ls -alF debian/dbus-1-dbg/usr/share/doc/dbus-1-dbg total 8 drwxr-xr-x 2 abe abe 512 Jul 27 18:19 ./ drwxr-xr-x 3 abe abe 512 Jul 27 18:19 ../ -rw-r--r-- 1 abe abe 2321 Jul 27 18:19 buildinfo.gz $ I then tried to build an unpatched 1.2.24-2 which FTBFS, too while it doesn't fail inside io's sid chroot. Feel free to reassign this bug, if you think the bug is located outside this package in one of the build helpers (cdbs, debhelper, dh-buildinfo, etc.) This looks like a bug in dh_buildinfo to me. It should not create a buildinfo.gz in /usr/share/doc/package if the maintainer chooses to make that directory a symlink. Had a quick discussion with Axel on irc, where we were wondering, what this file buildinfo.gz is for and why dh_buildinfo is placing it at debian/package/usr/share/doc/package/ Maybe some other place would be more suitable. Either dh_buildinfo does not break existing packages and respects if /usr/share/doc/package is a symlink (my preferred solution) or cdbs should not run it automatically. The problem is that cdbs helpfully runs dh_buildinfo, if present, as a result of us using utils.mk for unrelated functionality. dh-buildinfo correctly skips packages whose doc directory is a symlink, but when invoked by cdbs, dh_link doesn't happen until dh_buildinfo has already been run, causing failure. Debhelper has an option to dh_installdocs designed to symlink together doc directories (--link-doc); however, cdbs appears to run dh_buildinfo even earlier than dh_installdocs, subverting this mechanism. I've marked the cloned bug as present in cdbs since the version that merged build-info.mk into utils.mk. Bug#586465: doesn't really fix xfce4-taskmanager on kbsd
Hi Guillem, Thanks for your comment, which brings me to say the following. As you wrote, either test the first patch again and include libkvm-dev or try with the second patch that builds with -linux.c, otherwise simply keep the project off from building for kbsd. For your information, the -linux.c source depends mostly on fopen() and reads (off head) from /proc/PID/cmdline and /proc/PID/stat, where stat is not always exactly the same. Thanks all for your attentions, and I hope this will get fixed :) Mike -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? This didn't happen with remmina 0.7.5-1 (which didn't have a plugin architecture, BTW). I tried deleting ~/.remmina/ but remmina was still crashing. Only after uninstalling remmina-plugin-rdp, the program started working. I've installed libc6-dbg and rebuilt a non-stripped version of remmina and its plugins and I've attached the backtrace. I'm afraid it may not be very useful because there are missing debugging symbols for libfreerdp0 (which may be the real source of the problem?). Let me know if I need to try harder to get a useful backtrace. Hi, Jeffrey Ratcliffe jeffrey.ratcli...@gmail.com writes: Looking further, I see the download page puts 'unstable' fairly clearly on the appropriate entries: http://sourceforge.net/projects/gtk2-perl/files/ I'm not a uscan wiz - can you think how to use this to filter them out? As far as I know, uscan does not support filtering on information besides version numbers. Furthermore Sourceforge is a special case for uscan and we get [1] where these notes are no longer visible anyway. But versioning seems to follow a scheme: 1.2xy is unstable if and only if x is odd. That should be something we can filter on. We should make sure upstream really uses this system before though. Bug#568291: possible buffer overflows

I've dropped the Mono bindings in our svn. The C library still has four reverse dependencies. All of them have bug reports for months, but nobody has looked at them yet. I'd love to get it out of Squeeze, but somebody will need to look at them. See #549054, #549056, #549057, #549058. Since we'll likeÃly still keep these packages for Squeeze (but should raise them to RC after release), I'll upload a fix soon.
