Bug#640195: Remove paraview-dev
Lisandro, 2011/9/11 Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer perezme...@gmail.com: On Sáb 10 Sep 2011 17:32:30 Anton Gladky escribió: I propose to remove paraview-dev at all and include all files into the paraview-binary, like it was in previous versions of paraview. That sounds like a very bad decision. Header files should be provided by the -dev package. This allows a user to get only the binaries when she installs the foo package (foo being paraview in this case) and the header files only when necessary. If the header files are provided by the same package, it means that the buildd (or anyone wanting to B-D on paraview) must install a lot of unused stuff. Agree. That was the initial plan. We are 80% done with Anton's work. Just some minor cleanups remains. Now ParaViewConfig.cmake should be installed by paraview-dev. To help the transition, all the packages that currently build-depend on paraview should be filled a normal bug, raised to important in ~3 or 4 weeks and then to serious ~3 or 4 weeks later. It is customary to user-tag the bugs so as to follow the transition. Great. We'll keep this bug open as serious to prevent transition to testing. Is that an acceptable solution or should I fill a ROM request and re-upload paraview to experimental ? After that is achieved, src:paraview can be uploaded with the dev package providing the header files and ParaViewConfig.cmake. As said above, paraview is already in unstable. I need a little more time to test vtkedge and other package that build paraview plugins. Bug#636549: dracut: postinst tries, fails to generate/update initramfs
This bug does not occur on my system with sid. I seems only a bug when you use dmraid on your system but does not have kpartx installed on it. Dracut only needs kpartx if the dracut module script 90dmraid/module-setup.sh detects dmraid on the root device. The same applies for the packages dmraid and partx. IMO therefore the dracut package should not depend on kpartx, since it would cause packages installed on a system which are not really needed. I'm not sure how this problem should be properly solved. -- regards Thomas -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? This is because the two-stage, autoconf+cpp generation of src/Makefile and lib-src/Makefile results in strings like -I/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/glib-2.0 being seen as input to cpp... which has i386 as a macro defined to 1. So unless these macros are undefined, the path that winds up in the Makefile is broken and results in a build failure. The attached patch partially addresses this by undefining any macros that happen to exist for the cpu portion of the architecture triplet. Only architectures for which Ubuntu currently builds are handled here, however; for Debian either a more comprehensive list or a generic fix is needed. It's possible that passing -fdirectives-only to cpp would solve this, but I haven't tested. Bug#641240: Incomplete changelog if version is behind openjdk-6-jre-headless
Package: openjdk-6-jre-lib Version: 6b23~pre9-1 Severity: serious Justification: wheezy RC policy: The package changelog must be included. -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA512 Hi, The /usr/share/doc/openjdk-6-jre-lib directory is a symbolic link to /usr/share/doc/openjdk-6-jre-headless even though the dependency allows for the two packages to have different versions. This is not merely theoretical or of minor importance. Due to the unsatisfiable version conflict mentioned in #640736 and #641075, aptitude on my system has not yet upgraded openjdk-6-jre-headless to 6b23~pre9-1, even though it has upgraded openjdk-6-jre-lib to 6b23~pre9-1. I do make use of icedtea-netx, so I have not simply uninstalled it to complete the upgrade, and I am hesitant to do so. This became an issue when I was trying to prepare the Eclipse 3.7 packaging for entry into sid, which I am currently working on in collaboration with Niels Thykier. An error arose which I suspect is related in some way to my recent partial OpenJDK upgrade, but I do not have the ~pre9-1 changelog anywhere on my system due to the use of the symlink shortcut, so this has been difficult to debug. Although I found the changelog online, I do not only work on Debian when I have Internet access, and the DFSG-freeness part of the wheezy RC policy rightly insists on the inclusion of the package changelog. The version included in the current OpenJDK packaging does not always correspond to what is installed, which is the reason I have used an RC severity. Bug#622903: marked as done (xscreensaver (linked against libcrypto1.0.0) crashes upon unlock when using libp11 0.2.7-3 (linked against libcrypto0.9.8))
Your message dated Sun, 11 Sep 2011 20:48:45 -0400 with message-id 20110912004845.GA5432@gambit and subject line xscreensaver (linked against libcrypto1.0.0) crashes upon unlock when using libp11 0.2.7-3 (linked against libcrypto0.9.8) has caused the Debian Bug report #622903, regarding xscreensaver (linked against libcrypto1.0.0) crashes upon unlock when using libp11 0.2.7-3 (linked against libcrypto0.9.8) to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. Bug#638991: Better patch
I found that you can use gdk_x11_get_default_xdisplay instead - Which results in a shorter patch (attached). (I have replaced both the deprecated gdk_display and GDK_DISPLAY() in the code). In a upstream bugreport [1] there is the following comment/reply: Thanks for digging this up! Maybe we can really drop libkinosearch-perl from unstable too. Yup. An upstream dead, RC-buggy, superseded package with no rdeps doesn't look worth keeping :) Removal request filled! Regards Salvatore signature.asc Description: Digital signature
