Luigi Gangitano lu...@debian.org writes:

A new upstream source without the non-free files will be uploaded in
the next days, as soon as a new upstream version is released (with
 fixes for FTBFS).

Hi. What is the status on this? Looking at upstream, I don't see any
releases since October 2010 and little activity in the repository.

Package: phpldapadmin

Hi,

phpldapadmin depends on apache2 | httpd and on libapache2-mod-php5 .
This will pull in apache2 even if you want to use another httpd with
php5-cli.

This violates policy 7.2 imo This declares an absolute dependency. A
package will not be configured unless all of the packages listed in its
Depends field have been correctly configured

Please change the dependence from libapache2-mod-php5 to
libapache2-mod-php5 | php5-cli.

Yours,
Martin

Package: phpldapadmin
Version: 1.2.0.5-2
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 7.2

I installed the ngix webserver and php5-cli.
Then I tried to install phpldapadmin but apt wants to install apache2.
It doesn't care about the installed nginx.
I set up this some time ago successfully, its a bit strange.

Package: python-gtk2-dev
Version: 2.17.0-4
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 3.5

I was trying to compile python-gnome2 and figured it does not build
because python-gtk2 and pythong-gkt2-dev are different version, even
built for different python.

According to debian policy 3.5 packages should depend on the required
shared libraries which in this case does not happen.

Bug#657275: closed by jald...@debian.org (Jaldhar H. Vyas) (Bug#657275: fixed in libswe 1.77.00.0005-1)

2012-02-08 Thread Paul Elliott

Ok this problem was caused by my moving the repositories required for building
the arch indep libraries to Build-Depends-Indep: the rest of the fix was good.

So this is really a new bug, caused by my effort to fix the other one.

No matter. I have uploaded to mentors.net version 1.77.00.0005-4 which removes
the Build-Depends-Indep: line, merging it into the Build-Depends: line.

This webpage says there is a way to seperate the archetecture only builds, but
it is too complicated and would be difficult to maintain. Human time is more
expensive than computer time.
http://asylum.madhouse-project.org/blog/2012/01/26/buildd-workarounds/

I have tested the new version on found here:
http://mentors.debian.net/package/libswe 0005-4

It builds with debuild,
sbuild -A -d unstable
sbuild --arch=i386 -d unstable

So I believe I have finally fixed this one.

Bug#659081: Taking binary from hackage or GHC?

2012-02-08 Thread Joachim Breitner
Dear interested parties :-),

GHC 7.4.1 started to ship and expose the binary library, version
0.5.0.3. On hackage is binary-0.5.1.0. In Debian, we try to provide one
version of each library, so we have to decide:

 * Use the version provided by GHC and drop the independent binary
package (as we have done with random, for example).

 * Do not expose binary in GHC and continue using the version from
hackage.

@Upstream: Do you think binary on hackage will diverge much from the one
in GHC and would you expect your users to want the new versions before
they are shipped with GHC? And do you expect breakage in any components
(e.g. haddock) if everything but GHC uses a newer binary package?

Greetings,
Joachim

Bug#659081: Taking binary from hackage or GHC?

2012-02-08 Thread Duncan Coutts
On 8 February 2012 10:24, Joachim Breitner nome...@debian.org wrote:
 Dear interested parties :-),

It was firmly my opinion that shipping and exposing binary in GHC was
and is a mistake. Previously it was given a different name to try to
discourage people using it, but apparently that didn't work. The
authors of binary (myself included) don't want to ship it yet as part
of the Haskell Platform because the API isn't right yet (ongoing
work), and shipping it with GHC effectively makes it part of the
platform.

In Debian, we try to provide one version of each library, so we have to
 decide:

Yes, you're not put in an easy situation. Nor will we be when we come
to packaging the next HP release.

  * Use the version provided by GHC and drop the independent binary
package (as we have done with random, for example).

  * Do not expose binary in GHC and continue using the version from
 hackage.

I'm not sure I have the whole answer, you'll also need a response from Ian.

Eventually we will want to propose binary for the HP, but GHC may well
still want to depend on binary and ship it. So it might end up as one
of those HP libs that is shipped with GHC in the long term.

@Upstream: Do you think binary on hackage will diverge much from the one
in GHC and would you expect your users to want the new versions before
 they are shipped with GHC?

No, it should not diverge much, GHC picks up the latest code from the
upstream version occasionally.

And do you expect breakage in any components
(e.g. haddock) if everything but GHC uses a newer binary package?

At some point, we will have a major version change and that will break
the API and the binary format (we might even split the package in
two).

If they use similar versions but not the same, then probably the only
thing to break would be haddock, since I'm guessing that it makes use
of binary instances provided by the GHC package. But of course haddock
is also shipped with GHC.

Actually, 7.4.1 comes with 0.5.1.0. The release notes have the wrong

2012-02-08 Thread Christoph Egger
Package: libxcb1

Hi!

  Since the recent libxcb update (1.7-4 - 1.8-1) I can't start a
single X application (they all hang in a busy loop and don't display
anything). I noticed, that after the upgrad I was still able to spawn
a new window from urxvtd but not any new program (probably urxvtcd
still having loaded the old version).

Looking at my aptitude log for the update libxcb seems to be the
only related update at that point in time. This is on a
kfreebsd-amd64/wheezy system with VESA X.org driver (Intel GMA)

Bug#659094: SONAME bump of libcryptsetup

Hi,

For no change-rebuilds, please file a binNMU request against
release.debian.org (exception being for arch:all packages).

In the given situation, it appears that cryptsetup bumped its SONAME and
started a transition without notifying the release team. Normally, I
would have asked for a full transition bug[1].
However, by the looks of it there are only two rdeps that needs to be
rebuild and therefore I suspect/hope we can do it with just two binNMUs.

Bug#659116: debian-installer: GRUB fails to be installed on machine with IDE and SATA disk

2012-02-08 Thread Hans Streibel
Package: debian-installer
Version: 20110106+squeeze4
Severity: grave
Tags: d-i
Justification: renders package unusable

I tried to re-install Debian/Testing on the same hard disk where it had been
before. I installed from DVDs that I had made (jigdo) of the snapshot on
2012/02/06. I used the expert mode of the installer.

Installation failed when it came to the point where GRUB had to be installed.
I got an error message like GRUB could not be installed to /target.
A subsequent boot of the machine stopped with a GRUB error message:
- Stage 1.5
- Error 22

I noticed the following:
My machine has 2 hard disk drives built in. One is an IDE drive, the other
is a SATA drive.
- The BIOS (Amibios, version 0226) says that the IDE disk is the first hard
  disk
- Linux was installed on the IDE drive
- GRUB was installed on the MBR of the IDE drive
- The IDE disk was assigned to /dev/sda
- The SATA disk was assigned to /dev/sdb

Now during the installation process I noticed that the order of
assignments was reversed:
- The IDE disk was assigned to /dev/sdb
- The SATA disk was assigned to /dev/sda

Because I wanted the new system to reside on the same disk as before
I installed it to /dev/sdb3.

When the installation came to the point where GRUB had to be installed
I was not asked where to install it. I *guess* that GRUB might have been
installed on /dev/sda whereas the boot process still boots from the
first disk (/dev/sdb) where it finds leftovers of the previous GRUB
installation.

Bug#658281: Bug#657949: Cannot install libhdf5-mpi-dev and libnetcdf-dev

Hi Francesco,

Do you recommend that we build the next NetCDF from 4.1.1 or should we
use the 4.1.3 from experimental as the base?

 Hi,

I'd like to contribute towards a solution for this. I'm forwarding to

Naively, I don't understand why netcdf can't offer multiple variants,
just as hdf5 does. Or, at least, one package libnetcdf-mpi-dev that
links with the default MPI implementation.
I am not involved in the netcdf. You should report a bug on this
 package.
I'm prepared to do so, but I'd first like to get agreement that
netcdf is where the problem lies. Netcdf maintainers, please
 chime in!

I think we can no longer live in the status quo (see all the blockers
of #631019), so something has to give. Even if it is painful, perhaps
Debian could pioneer something and pass patches back to upstream?

 Thoughts?

 -Steve

As of now, I have several packages (eg ADIOS, CDO) that used to build
 against netcdf and libhdf5-mpi-dev
that don't. Without fixes to netCDF (I appreciate what Francesco says
 about netcdf upstream
not giving the libraries proper names), there needs to be a regression:
 either the packages
build with netcdf but no MPI, or MPI but no netcdf.

The problem is the following: with latest update to hdf5, the chain of
dependencies changed, so that now libnetcdf6 depends on the pure serial
version of hdf5, while the previous one depended on serial or parallel:

 Version: 1:4.1.1-6+b1
 Depends: libc6 (= 2.7), libcurl3-gnutls (= 7.16.2), libgcc1 (= 1:4.1.1),
 libgfortran3 (= 4.3), libhdf5-7 (= 1.8.7), libquadmath0 (= 4.6),
 libstdc++6 (= 4.4.0)

 Version: 1:4.1.1-6
 Depends: libc6 (= 2.7), libcurl3-gnutls (= 7.16.2-1), libgcc1 (= 1:4.1.1),
 libgfortran3 (= 4.3), libhdf5-serial-1.8.4 | libhdf5-1.8.4, libquadmath0 (=
 4.6), libstdc++6 (= 4.4.0)

So at least at packaging level, that should be fixed to follow the previous
 criteria.

That said, indeed NetCDF provides nc_create_par and nc_open_par in both serial
and parallel versions, but needs to be built with --enable-parallel to take
advantage of parallel I/O in HDF5, else it works in pure serial mode.

AFAIK Sylvestre is going to reset the dependencies chain in hdf5 to avoid that
kind of problem. About 4.1.3 in experimental, it still needs a bit of work,
and I'm going to split in separate packages current netcdf 4.1.1
before, in order to have a decent organization of all solibs to
have a smooth migration to 4.1.3. You have free access to the git repository,
so a branch can be prepared for having a parallel flavor too.

package: toonloop
severity: serious
version: 2.0.6-2
tags: patch

Toonloop FTBFS on armel and armhf because clutter is built against
opengl es there.

Patch is attatched, it's messy because the autotools regen stuff is in
there, you might want to split that into a different patch or remove it
and regen the autotools stuff at build time (the package may already do
this but if it does it doesn't seem to clean up afterwards). The real
changes are in configure.ac, src/Makefile.am and src/gui.h

This has been seen with both 2.0.6-2 (armhf buildd and local armel
tests) and 2.1.18-1 (armel and armhf buildds)

Note that I have only tested if this makes the package build, I don't
have an arm setup with a screen to test if the resulting package works
sorry.
Description: fix build on architectures where clutter uses opengl es
patch is noisy due to autotools regen sorry. the real changes are in
 configure.ac, src/Makefile.ac and

Bug#659104: X programs hanging in busy loop on kfreebsd

2012-02-08 Thread Christoph Egger
Hi again!

Christoph Egger christ...@debian.org writes:
   Since the recent libxcb update (1.7-4 - 1.8-1) I can't start a
single X application (they all hang in a busy loop and don't display
anything). I noticed, that after the upgrad I was still able to spawn
a new window from urxvtd but not any new program (probably urxvtcd
still having loaded the old version).

Looking at my aptitude log for the update libxcb seems to be the
only related update at that point in time. This is on a
kfreebsd-amd64/wheezy system with VESA X.org driver (Intel GMA)

Copying from the upstream bug as I'd need some advice on bsd
glibc. We're looking for explanation for this behaviour.

I the following patch fixes the problem for me (as well does reverting from
recv to read. I'll see if I can work out why it fails here without the patch
with debian-...@lists.debian.org folks.

recv seems to fail (loop) with Resource temporarily unavailable (ret=-1,
errno=35) according to ktrace

I'd meant to check that; sorry for jumping to conclusions.

gpgme.h is present, so the problem is evidently more subtle; I'll see if
I can reproduce it with configure -v3, per the full message's

investigate cases of packages showing up on amd64 but not i386 or vice

Bug#652770: cimg: FTBFS: dist.h:82:7: error: expected identifier before numeric constant

2012-02-08 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi David,

thanks for the preliminary information. Just keep me informed once you
released the new version.

Kind regards

Andreas.

On Wed, Feb 08, 2012 at 08:28:47PM +0100, David Tschumperlé wrote:
 Dear Andreas,

Someone else reported this bug on the G'MIC forum, and I had some time to
 look at the issue today.
The problem is *not* a bug from OpenCV (nor CImg by the way :)).
The problem comes from the fact that one of the X11 include files defines
the macros 'False' and 'True' to respectively '0' and '1',
and that the OpenCV include file defines (empty) classes named 'True' and
 'False'.
So, there is a clear incompatibility when using the two headers at the same
time (which is what CImg does of course).

I found a quick hack for a work-around (basically by replacing all 'False'
and 'True' expressions in CImg.h by their hard-coded values '0' and '1',
and #undef True and False when OpenCV headers are required).
So now, I can say the bug is corrected in upcoming 1.5.0 version of the
 CImg Library.

 Best Regards,

 David.

  Hi David,

I keep the bug report in CC and thus full quote your mail to leave some
note there. Please ping me in case I might miss your release to make
sure we can close the bug soonish.

Kind regards and for sure a happy new year 2012 as well

   Andreas.

   Dear Andreas,
Thanks for the report. It seems to me that the bug comes from OpenCV

I don't think this is really an issue, since I will release the next CImg
   version in few weeks (hopefully!),
and it compiles fine with latest packages of OpenCV installed (I'm using
   the latest Ubuntu).

And of course, Happy new year 2012 !

Builds fine here in an up-to-date sid chroot.

Looking at your apt configuration I can only guess that you have an
interesting mix of stable, testing and unstable packages.

What do pyversions -s and pyversions -d say?

Package: src:cherrypy3

Hello,

I just synced the new version of cherrypy3 into Ubuntu which failed to
build with the following log:
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/89394048/buildlog_ubuntu-precise-i386.cherrypy3_3.2.2-1_FAILEDTOBUILD.txt.gz

The interesting part which isn't actually visible in that log is what
help2man is actually trying to do:
stgraber@arkose-tmplqZVMZ:~/Desktop/cherrypy3/cherrypy3-3.2.2$
./cherrypy/cherryd --help
Traceback (most recent call last):
File ./cherrypy/cherryd, line 6, in module
import cherrypy
ImportError: No module named cherrypy

This call would only succeed if once built cherrypy would be installed
in the system path, which obviously isn't the case.

Instead, I recommend doing:
stgraber@arkose-tmplqZVMZ:~/Desktop/cherrypy3/cherrypy3-3.2.2$
PYTHONPATH=. ./cherrypy/cherryd --help
Usage: cherryd [options]

Options:
-h, --helpshow this help message and exit
  -c CONFIG, --config=CONFIG
specify config file(s)
-drun the server as a daemon
  -e ENVIRONMENT, --environment=ENVIRONMENT
apply the given config environment
-fstart a fastcgi server instead of the default HTTP
server
-sstart a scgi server instead of the default
HTTP server
-xstart a cgi server instead of the default HTTP
server
  -i IMPORTS, --import=IMPORTS
specify modules to import
  -p PIDFILE, --pidfile=PIDFILE
store the process id in the given file
-P PATH, --Path=PATH add the given paths to sys.path

Which will temporarily add the source to the python path letting
python import the module and extract the help to generate the manpage.

The attached patch changes debian/rules to do that.

Cheers

package: toonloop
severity: serious
version: 2.0.6-2

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
ld --no-add-needed. For details, please see:

Ubuntu might have a patch for this issue, but unfortunately it was
not forwarded to Debian. Please have a look at
http://packages.qa.debian.org/t38modem to see if an Ubuntu version for
this package exists, and if a fix is included in the Ubuntu diff.

-3 had not sourceful changes compared to -2, and this version built fine
on all architectures. So this looks like a toolchain issue on kbsd.

We would appreciate if the kbsd porters could have a look.

Thanks,

Bug#659116: debian-installer: GRUB fails to be installed on machine with IDE and SATA disk

2012-02-08 Thread Hans Streibel
Some additional information:

Yesterday I started the rescue system from the installation DVD.
Using this I was able to successfully install GRUB.
The new Linux system came up after the next boot.
However the Windows system on the hard disk did not boot.

I repeated the installation procedere.
This is the error message I got on the screen:

!! Install the GRUB boot loader on a hard disk
GRUB installation failed
The 'grub-pc' package failed to install into /target/.
Without the GRUB boot loader, the installed system will not boot.

The syslog file is again in the appendix.
