For mplayer and gstreamer0.10 exceptions were more or less justified, but for gstreamer0.8 this isn't the case. It has only three rev-deps: teatime and and muine have already easily been fixed in sid/experimental. goobox appears dead upstream (According to http://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php?soft_id=531 the last release is from Nov 2005), has hardly any users in popcon and we have plenty of media players in Debian. So unless it's fixed to use gstreamer 0.10 it'll need to be removed from Etch along with gstreamer 0.8. Bug#668306: rs: immediate segfault, apparently caused by hardening options (-pie)
RjY dixit: It appears to be caused by -pie in the parameters passed to cc Funnily enough, only on amd64 but not on kfreebsd-amd64. I tracked it down to some integer sign extension thing on a piece of code which temporarily uses “int” to store a pointer delta. It uses size_t now (as ptrdiff_t is signed, and I do not trust signed arithmetics in C). I also added your testcase to the build so this will never appear again. Thanks, //mirabilos -- FWIW, I'm quite impressed with mksh interactively. I thought it was much *much* more bare bones. But it turns out it beats the living hell out of ksh93 in that respect. I'd even consider it for my daily use if I hadn't wasted half my life on my zsh setup. :-) -- Frank Terbeck in #!/bin/mksh -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#645164: not fixed
found 1.0.2-2 thanks the issue was not fixed in 1.0.2-2 as no setuptools build dependency was added. changing from non-setuptools to setuptools based builds withing a debian revision should not be done. The change of the egg file to egg directory will cause upgrade failures of this type: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/793695 to work around that you need to use a preinst and remove the egg, see e.g. foolscap for an example. Also the dh_python2 conversion (which was not even mentioned in the changelog!) was done wrongly. Please follow http://wiki.debian.org/Python/TransitionToDHPython2 and take note of jakubs comments in this bug. signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Bug#658228: Possible solution
Try using suhosin.stealth=Off in your php.ini Xcache and Suhosin both register themself as internal zend extensions when loaded as normal PHP extension. By default Suhosin performs some trickery to be invisible to other zend extensions, which is required because zend extensions from Zend or Ioncube do not like unknown Zend Extensions to be loaded. On 04/14/2012 06:55 PM, Benj. Mako Hill wrote: Thanks for the detailed feedback on the package! Apologies that I forgot the build dep. quote who=Julian Taylor date=Sat, Apr 14, 2012 at 06:17:30PM +0200 changing from non-setuptools to setuptools based builds withing a debian revision should not be done. What? Where is this documented? to my knowledge its not documented properly. The issue comes from dh_python2's symlinking between modules and dpkg's special rules for directories and symlinks. The actual upgrade failure is dependent on a bunch of factors (like the file system of the build machine) so it might not be easily reproducible. Fixing it in dh_python2 is on POX's todo list but I don't think its done yet. It probably also disappears when python2.6 is removed. now that -2 is using dh_python2 you have following options: - using a temporary preinst like foolscap (definitely works) - reverting back to pysupport (maybe works) - Temporarily conflicting with -2 (maybe works, Breaks is not enough) or not care about the people who already updated in unstable upgrades from -1 to -3 will work as the issue does not occur on pysupport - dh_python2 upgrades. Also the dh_python2 conversion (which was not even mentioned in the changelog!) was done wrongly. I did not attempt to do a dh_python2 conversion so I did not mention it in the changelog and I'm sorry it happened and happened wrongly. Please follow http://wiki.debian.org/Python/TransitionToDHPython2 and take note of jakubs comments in this bug. Sure. I'll do this. also note this warning dh_python2 outputs: W: dh_python2:90: Python 2.7 should install files in /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/. Bug#652326: libspice-server errors out on startup on 32bit
retitle 652326 libspice-server does not work on i386 (32bit) severity 652326 important thanks Apparently the next version of spice will actually work in i386. This is JFYI, and actually I don't have more details on this, just, well, rumors. The errors out on startup bit was due to spice-related bugs in qemu, not spice itself. Retitling as such, and fixing severity. I wasn't able to apply the qemu-side fixes to 1.0 version easily, will try to do something with this for the next release of spice. Bug#668832: btrfs-tools: missing fsck.btrfs breaks booting btrfs as rootfs
Package: btrfs-tools Version: 0.19+2005-2 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system btrfs-tools now ships only with btrfsck while missing symlink at fsck.btrfs pointing to btrfsck. $ ls -l /sbin/fsck* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 31544 Feb 28 13:30 /sbin/fsck -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 14568 Feb 28 13:30 /sbin/fsck.cramfs lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 Apr 10 05:03 /sbin/fsck.ext2 - e2fsck lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 Apr 10 05:03 /sbin/fsck.ext3 - e2fsck lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 Apr 10 05:03 /sbin/fsck.ext4 - e2fsck lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 Apr 10 05:03 /sbin/fsck.ext4dev - e2fsck lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 Mar 12 20:23 /sbin/fsck.hfs - fsck.hfsplus -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 194416 Mar 12 20:23 /sbin/fsck.hfsplus -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 31128 Feb 28 13:30 /sbin/fsck.minix lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 Oct 29 16:11 /sbin/fsck.msdos - dosfsck -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root333 Mar 20 18:01 /sbin/fsck.nfs This breaks expectation by fsck as documented in its manpage. In actuality, fsck is simply a front-end for the various filesystem checkers (fsck.fstype) available under Linux. The filesystem-specific checker is searched for in /sbin first, then in /etc/fs and /etc, and finally in the directories listed in the PATH environment variable. As you know, /etc/init.d/checkroot.sh calls fsck with -t option during system boot under normal situation. In case of btrfs, -t option is btrfs :-) which will be calling non-existing fsck.btrfs. I found this problem while making fresh sid install with testing d-i CD with btrfs as root filesystem for my toy-system. After iniramfs, when system checked rootfs with above, it spitted a message indicating missing fsck.btrfs and stopped boot to gave me root password prompt. I could get this system working by doing the following while at root shell given in the above situation. # mount -t remount,rw / # cd /sbin # ln -sf btrfsck fsck.btrfs As we could see from above examples for dosfsck and e2fsck, this is standard practice to have this fsck.btrfs. I do not think boot script or fsck should make special exception for btrfs. If upstream does not provide this link for now, you should add debian/btrfs-tools.link with something like the following as work around. --- /sbin/btrfsck /sbin/fsck.btrfs --- I am surprised no one seems to report this obvious problem yet. Maybe people are sane enough not to use btrfs as rootfs. Or, I am afraid I may be making some mistake or overlooking ... I hope not, though. Regards, Osamu FYI: Below are for the system I used for filing this report. I am sane enough not to use btrfs as rootfs here :-) But version of tools should be equivalent since both are very current sid. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages btrfs-tools depends on: ii e2fslibs1.42.2-2 ii libc6 2.13-27 ii libcomerr2 1.42.2-2 ii libuuid12.20.1-4 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.6.dfsg-2 btrfs-tools recommends no packages. btrfs-tools suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. I can not recall which one now. I'm pretty sure for chinese you need xelatex, so don't make pdftex the default. Just switch to pdftex backend for french. until we have a solution. True. Bug#668848: Trap in gpk-application and related tools
Package: gnome-packagekit Version: 3.4.0-2 Severity: grave Hi, Last update of the Wheezy's package gnome-packagekit (April 14th) introduced unusable gpk-applications and gpk-update-viewer (Add/Remove Software and Software Update respectively) and possible others. When called from the gnome menu, they simply doesn't start, and /var/log/messages shows the following message: Apr 14 18:36:16 trouble kernel: [ 809.364577] gpk-application[11109] trap int3 ip:7fb946545888 sp:7fff594131d0 error:0 Calling it from console, we can get more information: $ gpk-application ** ERROR **: g_thread_init() must be called before dbus_threads_init() Trace/breakpoint trap Tested also with a fresh new Wheezy install today, and it have the same unusable gnome package management tools too. Thanks Igor
