This package builds with -Werror, and GCC 4.6 triggers new warnings
which will make the package fail to build. Currently a Debian patch
just passes
-Wno-error=unused-but-set-variable and
-Wno-error=unused-but-set-parameter
to avoid build failures, but this patch will be reverted with the
GCC 4.6.1 release, and the severity of the report will be raised.

The full build log can be found at:

The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

Bug#668721: sendfile: unowned files after purge (policy 6.8, 10.8)

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package left unowned files on
the system after purge, which is a violation of policy 6.8 (or 10.8):

http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-removedetails

Filing this as important as having a piuparts clean archive is a release
goal since lenny.

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

0m20.5s ERROR: FAIL: Package purging left files on system:
  /etc/csh.login not owned
  /etc/services not owned

Raising severity to serious as this creates/modifies/... /etc/services
which is owned by netbase (but there is no dependency on netbase).
And csh.login might be owned by osomeone else, too.

cheers,

Andreas

Bug#668757: netdisco-{back, front}end: unowned files after purge (policy 6.8) violating FHS (policy 9.1) too

2012-04-14 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: netdisco-backend,netdisco-frontend
Version: 1.0-1
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package left unowned files on
the system after purge, which is a violation of policy 6.8:

http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-removedetails

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

0m25.6s ERROR: FAIL: Package purging left files on system:
  /home/netdisco not owned

As putting files into /home is also a violation of
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-opersys.html#s9.1.2
I'm setting the severity to serious.

You probably wan to use something like
  adduser --system ...

cheers,

Andreas

yes, upgrading libpulse-mainloop-glib0 fixed the problem. Thank you very

Package: gstreamer0.8
Severity: serious

gstreamer-0.8 embeds a full copy of the ffmpeg, which frequently
has vulnerabilities. For mplayer and gstreamer0.10 exceptions
were more or less justified, but for gstreamer0.8 this isn't
the case. It has only three rev-deps: teatime and and muine have
already easily been fixed in sid/experimental. goobox appears dead
upstream (According to http://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php?soft_id=531
the last release is from Nov 2005), has hardly any users in popcon
and we have plenty of media players in Debian. So unless it's fixed
to use gstreamer 0.10 it'll need to be removed from Etch along with
gstreamer 0.8.

Cheers,
Moritz

Hello,

The package securecgi was removed a while ago, after being obsoleted
for many years:
http://packages.qa.debian.org/s/securecgi/news/20110805T215335Z.html

These bug reports are now orphan, so nobody will take a look at them
and they are not useful anymore. Sorry that they were not addressed
properly in due time.

I'm closing the bug reports now.

Regards.

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on
amd64.

Relevant part:
/usr/bin/ld: note: 'sqlite3_close' is defined in DSO /usr/lib/libsqlite3.so.0
so try adding it to the linker command line
/usr/lib/libsqlite3.so.0: could not read symbols: Invalid operation
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

The full build log is available from:
   http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2012/03/21/spatialite-tools_3.0.0-1.log

A list of current common problems and possible solutions is available at
http://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS . You're welcome to contribute!

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot. Internet was not
accessible from the build systems.

This seems like a temporary error, unrelated to spatialite-tools.

3.0.0-2, in fact, builds fine in amd64:

http://debomatic64.debian.net/unstable/pool/spatialite-tools_3.0.0-2/spatialite-tools_3.0.0-2.buildlog

(the only difference in -2 from -1 is debian/watch, and other minor things not
affecting the build at all).

Could you please take a look?

I suppose that those two tests could be disabled for now. I'll talk with

mipsel, s390x and sparc - because systemtap-sdt-dev is now only built on
a subset of architectures (as of 1.7-1).

Regards,

Adam

Bug#653653: nbd: FTBFS on sparc: Bus error (core dumped) - FAIL: integrity

Unfortunately the test still fails with a bus error and I can't seem
to figure out how to run the test manually to get a new backtrace.
The executable ./integrity simply doesn't seem to exist after the
 build process ends.

Jurij, can you tell me exactly what you did to get your backtrace?

It runs the tests using simple_test script by invoking it with
'integrity' argument, in this case. I believe I just manually
reproduced the commands the script runs, for 'integrity' they look
like this:

*/integrity)
# Integrity test
cat ${conffile} EOF
[generic]
[export1]
exportname = $tmpnam
flush = true
fua = true
rotational = true
filesize = 52428800
temporary = true
EOF
./nbd-server -C ${conffile} -p ${pidfile}
PID=$!
sleep 1
./nbd-tester-client localhost -N export1 -i -t
${mydir}/integrity-test.tr
retval=$?
;;

Funnily enough, only on amd64 but not on kfreebsd-amd64.
I tracked it down to some integer sign extension thing
on a piece of code which temporarily uses “int” to store
a pointer delta. It uses size_t now (as ptrdiff_t is signed,
and I do not trust signed arithmetics in C).

I also added your testcase to the build so this will never
appear again.

Thanks,

wasted half my life on my zsh setup. :-) -- Frank Terbeck in #!/bin/mksh

Interesting ... I have seen that but fixed it.

Can you send me the md5sum of all the files in /etc/texmf/fmt.d/

Furthermore, reassigning to jadetex, no problem if tex-common.

And: Which version of jadetex is installed?

Best wishes

revision should not be done.
The change of the egg file to egg directory will cause upgrade failures
of this type:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/793695
to work around that you need to use a preinst and remove the egg, see
e.g. foolscap for an example.

Also the dh_python2 conversion (which was not even mentioned in the
changelog!) was done wrongly.
Please follow http://wiki.debian.org/Python/TransitionToDHPython2 and
take note of jakubs comments in this bug.

This is very obviously the home directory of the user.

Please point me to the part of policy where policy states the place to
put a user's home directory if it is needed, for example to place an
.ssh/authorized_keys file.

As putting files into /home is also a violation of
 http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-opersys.html#s9.1.2

That part of the FHS is about /usr/local, not /home.

You probably want to use something like
   adduser --system ...

You probably want to read the maintainer scripts of packages you're
filing bugs on. I know that I cannot demand that you're only filing
bugs on packages you care for and have some basic familiarity with.

Slightly annoyed.

Greetings
Marc

The real plugin is a wrapper script : /usr/share/munin/plugins/jmx_
which is currently provided by the munin-plugins-core package. Both
files are useless w/o each other, it makes munin-plugins-java unusable
as a standalone package.

This bug is to remind me to move the jmx_ plugin into the correct package.

Bug#658228: Possible solution

2012-04-14 Thread Stefan Esser
Try using

suhosin.stealth=Off

in your php.ini

Xcache and Suhosin both register themself as internal zend extensions when
loaded as normal PHP extension.
By default Suhosin performs some trickery to be invisible to other zend
extensions, which is required because zend extensions from Zend or Ioncube do
not like unknown Zend Extensions to be loaded.

Regards,
Stefan

Dear Maintainer,

On running mkgmapgui from the command line, I get the following error:

Looking at mkgmapgui.sh, it looks like the directory where my jvm is
installed (from the openjdk-6-jre package) is not listed.

Manually adding /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-i386/bin/java to
JAVA_CMDS in mkgmapgui.sh appears to fix the problem.

changing from non-setuptools to setuptools based builds withing a debian
 revision should not be done.

 What? Where is this documented?

to my knowledge its not documented properly.
The issue comes from dh_python2's symlinking between modules and dpkg's
special rules for directories and symlinks.
The actual upgrade failure is dependent on a bunch of factors (like the
file system of the build machine) so it might not be easily reproducible.
Fixing it in dh_python2 is on POX's todo list but I don't think its done
yet.
It probably also disappears when python2.6 is removed.

now that -2 is using dh_python2 you have following options:
- using a temporary preinst like foolscap (definitely works)
- reverting back to pysupport (maybe works)
- Temporarily conflicting with -2 (maybe works, Breaks is not enough)

or not care about the people who already updated in unstable
upgrades from -1 to -3 will work as the issue does not occur on
pysupport - dh_python2 upgrades.

Also the dh_python2 conversion (which was not even mentioned in the
 changelog!) was done wrongly.

I did not attempt to do a dh_python2 conversion so I did not mention
it in the changelog and I'm sorry it happened and happened wrongly.

 Please follow http://wiki.debian.org/Python/TransitionToDHPython2 and
take note of jakubs comments in this bug.

 Sure. I'll do this.

also note this warning dh_python2 outputs:
W: dh_python2:90: Python 2.7 should install files in
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/. Did you forget --install-layout=deb?

Yes, this is the cksum from Debian stable. Could you update to
jadetex from Debian unstable and call back if that solves your
problem?

Ah, installing the version of jadetex from testing fixes the problem.
Thanks: I hadn't noticed it was different because the version numbers
were exactly the same apart from the Debian specific point increase.

(it's a mixed stable / testing / unstable install, so occasional
weirdness is expected.)

Weird systems are unsupported.

True, except version mismatch induced package failure ought to be
reflected in the dpkg depends, otherwise upgrades may fail if the
packages are upgraded in the wrong order shouldn't they?

Bug#652326: libspice-server errors out on startup on 32bit

2012-04-14 Thread Michael Tokarev
retitle 652326 libspice-server does not work on i386 (32bit)
severity 652326 important
thanks

Apparently the next version of spice will actually work in i386.
This is JFYI, and actually I don't have more details on this,
just, well, rumors.

The errors out on startup bit was due to spice-related bugs in
qemu, not spice itself. Retitling as such, and fixing severity.

I wasn't able to apply the qemu-side fixes to 1.0 version easily,
will try to do something with this for the next release of
spice.

Thank you!

/mjt

Bug#668832: btrfs-tools: missing fsck.btrfs breaks booting btrfs as rootfs

2012-04-14 Thread Osamu Aoki
Package: btrfs-tools
Version: 0.19+2005-2
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

btrfs-tools now ships only with btrfsck while missing symlink at
fsck.btrfs pointing to btrfsck.

$ ls -l /sbin/fsck*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 31544 Feb 28 13:30 /sbin/fsck
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 14568 Feb 28 13:30 /sbin/fsck.cramfs
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 Apr 10 05:03 /sbin/fsck.ext2 - e2fsck
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 Apr 10 05:03 /sbin/fsck.ext3 - e2fsck
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 Apr 10 05:03 /sbin/fsck.ext4 - e2fsck
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 Apr 10 05:03 /sbin/fsck.ext4dev - e2fsck
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 Mar 12 20:23 /sbin/fsck.hfs - fsck.hfsplus
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 194416 Mar 12 20:23 /sbin/fsck.hfsplus
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 31128 Feb 28 13:30 /sbin/fsck.minix
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 Oct 29 16:11 /sbin/fsck.msdos - dosfsck
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root333 Mar 20 18:01 /sbin/fsck.nfs

This breaks expectation by fsck as documented in its manpage.

In actuality, fsck is simply a front-end for the various filesystem
checkers (fsck.fstype) available under Linux. The filesystem-specific
checker is searched for in /sbin first, then in /etc/fs and /etc, and
finally in the directories listed in the PATH environment variable.

As you know, /etc/init.d/checkroot.sh calls fsck with -t option during
system boot under normal situation. In case of btrfs, -t option is
btrfs :-) which will be calling non-existing fsck.btrfs.

I found this problem while making fresh sid install with testing d-i CD
with btrfs as root filesystem for my toy-system. After iniramfs, when
system checked rootfs with above, it spitted a message indicating missing
fsck.btrfs and stopped boot to gave me root password prompt.

I could get this system working by doing the following while at root
shell given in the above situation.

 # mount -t remount,rw /
 # cd /sbin
 # ln -sf btrfsck fsck.btrfs

As we could see from above examples for dosfsck and e2fsck, this is
standard practice to have this fsck.btrfs. I do not think boot script
or fsck should make special exception for btrfs.

If upstream does not provide this link for now, you should add
debian/btrfs-tools.link with something like the following as work
around.
---
/sbin/btrfsck /sbin/fsck.btrfs
---

I am surprised no one seems to report this obvious problem yet. Maybe
people are sane enough not to use btrfs as rootfs. Or, I am afraid I
may be making some mistake or overlooking ... I hope not, though.

Regards,

Osamu

FYI: Below are for the system I used for filing this report. I am sane
enough not to use btrfs as rootfs here :-) But version of tools should
be equivalent since both are very current sid.

Just a suggestion for a workaround: do you really need xelatex to

Mostly no. But few symbols renders better. I can not recall which one

I'm pretty sure for chinese you need xelatex, so don't make pdftex

True. But disabling xCJK is as simple solution. Good night...

Bug#668835: php5: 5.4.1~rc1 fails to build from source on OpenSSL and PCRE libraries

2012-04-14 Thread Frederik Vanrenterghem
Source: php5
Version: 5.4.1~rc1
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
I tried installing php5 from source, but it fails when running debian/rules
binary upon checking for the OpenSSL libraries

configure: error: Cannot find OpenSSL's libraries
make: *** [configure-apache2-stamp] Error 1

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
I removed the /usr from the debian/rules file, which makes the OpenSSL
configuration pass. It again breaks on PCRE though, which can't be resolved as
easily. I provided as directory /usr/include for the headers, but that makes it
break again in the next step:

checking for PCRE headers location... /usr/include
checking for PCRE library location... configure: error: Could not find
libpcre.(a|so) in /usr
make: *** [configure-apache2-stamp] Error 1

Bug#658228: Possible solution

Hi Ludvig,

 Try using

Xcache and Suhosin both register themself as internal zend
extensions when loaded as normal PHP extension. By default Suhosin
performs some trickery to be invisible to other zend extensions,
which is required because zend extensions from Zend or Ioncube do
not like unknown Zend Extensions to be loaded.

for me the following works:

$ cat /etc/php5/conf.d/x_suhosin.ini
suhosin.stealth=Off

Could you please verify that?

Many thanks, Jan.

I tried installing php5 from source, but it fails when running debian/rules

I removed the /usr from the debian/rules file, which makes the OpenSSL

break again in the next step:

Hi Frederik,

the php builds just fine:

https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=php5

We can probably help you, if you provide the system setup (version,
how do you build the package, full logs, etc.), but it's not the bug
if you cannot build it on your system.

BTW: Did you do apt-get build-dep php5 ?

O.

Howdy, libcrypto++ maintainer,

It appears that a package that depends on the headers provided is
breaking due to the upcoming gcc 4.7 transition.

If you feel this bug is not serious, please correct the severity.

The header (secblock.h) has the following error:

/usr/include/cryptopp/secblock.h:91:3: error: 'CheckSize' was not declared
in this scope, and no declarations were found by argument-dependent lookup at
the point of instantiation [-fpermissive]
/usr/include/cryptopp/secblock.h:91:3: note: declarations in dependent base
'CryptoPP::AllocatorBaselong long unsigned int' are not found by unqualified
lookup
/usr/include/cryptopp/secblock.h:91:3: note: use 'this-CheckSize' instead

Have a great day,

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-4.7/g++-4.7, but succeeds to build with gcc-4.6/g++-4.6. The
severity of this report may be raised before the wheezy release.

secblock.h:91:3: error: 'CheckSize' was not declared in this scope, and no
declarations were found by argument-dependent lookup at the point of
instantiation [-fpermissive]

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2012/03/29-clang-gcc47/unstable-gcc47/libcrypto++_5.6.1-5_unstable-gcc47.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

Some hints on fixing these issues can be found at
http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-4.7/porting_to.html

To build with GCC 4.7, either set CC=gcc-4.7 CXX=g++-4.7 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

Bug#668848: Trap in gpk-application and related tools

2012-04-14 Thread Igor Palmieri
Package: gnome-packagekit
Version: 3.4.0-2
Severity: grave

Hi,

Last update of the Wheezy's package gnome-packagekit (April 14th)
introduced unusable gpk-applications and gpk-update-viewer
(Add/Remove Software and Software Update respectively) and
possible others.

When called from the gnome menu, they simply doesn't start, and
/var/log/messages shows the following message:

Apr 14 18:36:16 trouble kernel: [ 809.364577] gpk-application[11109]
trap int3 ip:7fb946545888 sp:7fff594131d0 error:0

Calling it from console, we can get more information:

$ gpk-application

** ERROR **: g_thread_init() must be called before dbus_threads_init()
Trace/breakpoint trap

Tested also with a fresh new Wheezy install today, and it have the
same unusable gnome package management tools too.

Thanks

Igor
