Bug#634261: Forgive my illiteracy...

2012-06-13 Thread Johann Klammer

But...
How is the operator precedence?

is it

if ((_IO_stdin_used == NULL))

or

if ((_IO_stdin_used) == NULL)

IMHO It should be the latter...

can you do a

p (_IO_stdin_used == NULL)

and
p ((_IO_stdin_used) == NULL)

in your gdb session?

Bye,
JK

Bug#634261: Another wild guess...

Could there be a #define _IO_stdin_used somewhere further up?
I am not sure if gdb sees those, so it may output a different symbol
from what the program sees.

Hi,

 Package: calligrawords

 Conflicts: kword

 The transitional packages need to be installable, otherwise they
 won't migrate to testing.
 Use versioned Breaks/Replaces in the new packages.

The migration from old koffice to calligra has been added recently, and
we forgot to update the relationships in src:calligra.
I fixed this and other cases (see below), thanks.

 This probably affects several of these transitional packages, but I
 didn't check the others so far.

So far I found and fixed:
- koffice (removed conflict/replace in calligra, since they are empty
  metapackages)
- kplato (fixed conflict/replace in calligraplan)
- kpresenter (fixed conflict/replace in calligrastage)
- kspread (fixed conflict/replace in calligratables)
- kword (fixed conflict/replace in calligrawords)
- koffice-dbg (removed conflict/replace in calligra-dbg, since they have
  no files in common)

could you please do a second check to see if I eventually miss anything?

Thanks,

Bug#587650: git-svn and nstore (Debian bug #587650)

 Tim Retout wrote:

 I've not thought much about the implications for the Debian bug - one crazy

 Seems doable.  I just don't like the idea of the cache flipping back and
 forth on a repo mounted over NFS...

Since #677292 is 'important', we might be able to convince the release
team to let us fix it in squeeze? Obviously if the cache is shared
with a really old system or another distro, this wouldn't help.

But then, teaching Storable about foreign architectures doesn't seem
feasible for wheezy either. :( There's no other way that a git-svn
Storable file could coexist between two squeeze and wheezy systems -
the path would have to change.

[CCing #587650 just to keep it updated with progress.]

Once the new packages appear in sid (or experimental) they will

Bug#677361: rubrica: FTBFS on kfreebsd-any hurd-i386 due to rpath

Justification: FTBFS

Hello,

rubrica currently FTBFS on kfreebsd and hurd-i386 due to libtool
spuriously adding an rpath to /usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}. This was
fixed upstream, rubrica just needs to use libtoolize or autoreconf.

Thanks,

YDJust a shot in the dark -- the behaviour you observe could be caused

I don't think so, same version of oolite backported from wheezy with

Is here any another way to understand where is a problem?

YDI tried oolite/1.76.1-1 on another machine (wheezy/i386, fresh

Wow, so this is the mysterious embargoed Xen issue that a Linode
announcement hinted at 4 weeks ago. The CVE not only affected Xen PV
hosts (XSA-7), but MS Windows (MS12‑042) and now FreeBSD (SA-12:04).

kfreebsd-10 is fixed upstream in r236953 so this just needs a new
upload. The others can use the patch from the advisory.

Note that I was upgrading luatex without upgrading the rest of

My guess: is missing a (versioned?) dependency on the package that
contains these files, or the right symlink to these files or ...

Downgrading to version 0.60.2-1 works:

$ sudo dpkg --install luatex_0.60.2-1_amd64.deb

And then the problem happens again when one tries to upgrade lutaex.

machine ? Or post its content here showing it has a Depends: line mentionning

What happens if you

sudo aptitude install nova-objectstore nova-common

 Hi,

 I have update to the latest version: 2012-1.6 but

 So the installaion is impossible and stop in the --configure

 Hi,

 Could you please copy the command line you've used and all of the output

 Hello,

 after Upgrading to virtualbox-guest-* 4.1.16-dfsg-1 my keyboard stops working
 in X after some minutes using it. The mouse is not affected, CutPaste still
 works.

 When i stop the X-Server the keyboard on console is running without problem.

 My System is a Debian unstable running on a Windows7-host.

 I couldn't find any information in Virtualbox' log, or inside the Xorg-Log
 that could be related to the problem.

 After Downgrading to 4.1.16-dfsg-1 all seems to be ok again for some hours
 now.

 Cord

Are you sure that the problem is only present in 4.1.16-dfsg-2?
4.1.16-dfsg-2 doesn't have any code changes in the guest additions.

Yesterday Andrew sent me his own build. His build works flawless. I

Patch works fine, sorry my mistake.

Package: chromium
Version: 20.0.1132.21~r139451-3
Severity: serious

The new chromium browser segfault very frequently and in a reproducible manner
while using the omnibox, apparently while searching through the underlying
sqlite database of browsing history. (I've a couple of queries that reliably
make chromium crash here, but they depend on the status of my browsing
history.)

I've produced a backtrace (with all the symbols available from the -dbg
package), which is attached.

Cheers.

Bug#677334: [Openstack-devel] Bug#677334: nova-objectstore: Problem dependency with nova-objectstore 2012-1.6

2012-06-13 Thread Loic Dachary
Hi,

You can see in this file that it contains:

Depends: lsb-base (= 3.0.6), nova-common (= 2012.1-6), python

I'm not sure why the problem you experience happens, but it's not because the
dependencies of nova-objectstore refer to 2012.1-5. Would you be so kind as to
close this bug or at least change the severity to ack the fact that it cannot
be reproduced ?

We'll hopefully figure it out eventually ;-)

Cheers

 Could you please copy the command line you've used and all of the output

Bug#677391: latex-beamer: unowned file /usr/local/share/texmf/ls-R after purge (policy 6.8, 9.1.2)

2012-06-13 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: latex-beamer
Version: 3.10-1
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package left unowned files on
the system after purge, which is a violation of policy 6.8:
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-removedetails

As putting files into /usr/local is also a violation of
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-opersys.html#s9.1.2
I'm setting the severity to serious.

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

0m53.8s ERROR: FAIL: Package purging left files on system:
  /usr/local/share/texmf/not owned
  /usr/local/share/texmf/ls-Rnot owned

This problem is usually caused by running mktexlsr (or texhash) without
path arguments from a maintainer script.

The recommende solution is to switch to use dh_installtex and have this
generate most (or perhaps even all) of the maintainer scripts content.

Otherwise run mktexlsr with the tree as argument where the package
installs its files, which is usually
  mktexlsr /usr/share/texmf

Please have a look at the Debian-TeX-Policy (in the tex-common package)
for the current practice of handling TeX packages. For further TeX
packaging related questions contact debian-tex-ma...@lists.debian.org

cheers,

Andreas

Bug#677242: virtualbox-guest-x11: Keyboard stops working after some time.

2012-06-13 Thread Cord Beermann
Hallo! Du (Felix Geyer) hast geschrieben:

Are you sure that the problem is only present in 4.1.16-dfsg-2?
4.1.16-dfsg-2 doesn't have any code changes in the guest additions.

As I couldn't find anything in the Logs i'm not sure.

What I know is:

I upgraded virtualbox-guest-x11, virtualbox-guest-utils,
virtualbox-guest-dkms from 4.1.16-dfsg-1 to 4.1.16-dfsg-2 in the
morning.

I got the problems.

I rebooted the hostsystem and the client (the latter three times.)
Problem was reproduceable.

I downgraded to 4.1.16-dfsg-1 and rebooted the client-system, the problem
didn't show up again for the last 24hours.

Cord

Bug#557103: uw-imapd occasionally corrupts /var/spool/mail/[user] and ~/mbox

2012-06-13 Thread Michel Henry de Generet

Depending of the client, the bug could appear every day.

The observation
1. mbox is corrupted, first line (or more) is overwritten as
000 027 003 001 000 150 142 072 157 235 351 341 361 302 024 322 264
 027 003 001  \0   h b   :  o235   é   á   ñ   Â
024   Ò   ´

2/ there is always such message in mail.info
   /usr/sbin/mlock[]: (64) fd not regular file
and then
   imapd[29107]: Killed (lost mailbox lock) user=

My conclusions

1/ mlock is not OK (/usr/sbin/mlock)

2/ this code seems not ok in src/osdep/unix

   int unix_lock (char *file,int flags,int mode,DOTLOCK *lock,int op)
{
 int fd;
 blocknotify_t bn = (blocknotify_t) mail_parameters
(NIL,GET_BLOCKNOTIFY,NIL);

 (*bn) (BLOCK_FILELOCK,NIL);
   /* try locking the easy way */
 if (dotlock_lock (file,lock,-1)) {
   /* got dotlock file, easy open */
   if ((fd = open (file,flags,mode)) = 0) flock (fd,op);
   else dotlock_unlock (lock); /* open failed, free the dotlock */
 }
   /* no dot lock file, open file now */
 else if ((fd = open (file,flags,mode)) = 0) {
   /* try paranoid way to make a dot lock file
*/

   if (dotlock_lock (file,lock,fd)) {
 close (fd); /* get fresh fd in case of timing race */
 if ((fd = open (file,flags,mode)) = 0) flock (fd,op);
   /* open failed, free the dotlock */
 else dotlock_unlock (lock);
   }
   else flock (fd,op); /* paranoid way failed, just flock() it */
 }
 (*bn) (BLOCK_NONE,NIL);
 return fd;
}

dotlock_lock (file,lock,fd) fails because fd not a regular file. It could
potentially fails for other reasons but never in my server. So my proposal
would be :

   else {
   close (fd);
   fd = -1;
   }

Any comment would be appreciated (except to use dovecot).

Michel

Bug#677400: nova-common: prompting due to modified conffiles which were not modified by the user

2012-06-13 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: nova-common
Version: 2012.1-6
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed the piuparts
upgrade test because dpkg detected a conffile as being modified and then
prompted the user for an action. As there is no user input, this fails.
But this is not the real problem, the real problem is that this prompt
shows up in the first place, as there was nobody modifying this conffile
at all, the package has just been installed and upgraded...

This is a violation of policy 10.7.3, see
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#s10.7.3,
which says [These scripts handling conffiles] must not ask unnecessary
questions (particularly during upgrades), and must otherwise be good
citizens.

http://wiki.debian.org/DpkgConffileHandling should help with figuring
out how to do this properly.

In http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2009/08/msg00675.html and
followups it has been agreed that these bugs are to be filed with
severity serious.

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

  Setting up nova-common (2012.1-6) ...

  Configuration file `/etc/nova/nova.conf'
   == Modified (by you or by a script) since installation.
   == Package distributor has shipped an updated version.
 What would you like to do about it ? Your options are:
  Y or I  : install the package maintainer's version
  N or O  : keep your currently-installed version
D : show the differences between the versions
Z : start a shell to examine the situation
   The default action is to keep your current version.
  *** nova.conf (Y/I/N/O/D/Z) [default=N] ? dpkg: error processing nova-common
(--configure):
   EOF on stdin at conffile prompt

This problem was observed on a distupgrade from wheezy to sid.

cheers,

Andreas

 I'm not sure why the problem you experience happens, but it's not because
 the dependencies of nova-objectstore refer to 2012.1-5. Would you be so kind
 as to close this bug or at least change the severity to ack the fact that it
 cannot be reproduced ?

 We'll hopefully figure it out eventually ;-)

 Cheers

 Finally, I have purge all the nova-* packages ... and have made
 a new installation.
 The automatic purge of nova-objectstore (2012.1-5) is impossible !
Yes :-( That's why I reacted promptly to the bug. Hopefully there are not many
people with the same problem.
 One have to do it by hand !!! (all the _related_ files and directory

 The bug is closed. The problem seems to come from the 2012.1-5 version !
It was a nasty one.

Thanks for your understanding
 I hope that will help some ...

 Could you please copy the command line you've used and all of the output

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  /usr/include/xs.h

This bug has been filed against both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may then
also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug.

 Hi,

 during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from
 'squeeze'.
 It installed fine in 'squeeze', then the upgrade to 'wheezy' fails.

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

   The following packages have unmet dependencies:
eog-dbg : Depends: eog (= 3.4.1-2) but 2.30.2-1 is to be installed
libglib2.0-0 : Breaks: eog ( 3.2.2-3) but 2.30.2-1 is to be installed
   E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused
 by held packages.

 The full output from Debug::pkgProblemResolver is included in the logfile.

I assume you used apt-get dist-upgrade?

Imo this is not a bug which can be fixed in gnome-dbg in any way.
Bringing the apt maintainers into the loop. Maybe they have an idea why
the upgrade fails and what can be done about this.

Bug#675125: libslang2: jed fails to start with latest libslang2

2012-06-13 Thread Wookey
I can reproduce at least part of this bug.

jed in fairly bare debootstrapped unstable chroot gives me:
jed -batch -quiet -f 'vmessage(%S,_slang_install_prefix)'
loading /usr/share/jed/lib/site.slc
loading /usr/share/jed/lib/os.sl
loading /usr/share/jed/lib/menus.slc

jed itself does start, but only in some horrible mode (brief?) that I
don't know how to drive. (^Ke to get out).

however if I install libslang2 2.2.4-13 on my laptop it still works OK.

both of these are AMD64 machines.

I will try to work out what the difference is that makes this bug
reproducible.

I also note

essentially the same reasons:

Package: libmysqld-dev
Version: 5.1.48-1
Severity: important

Hi,

currently mysql_config produces this output when asked for the
embedded-server libraries:
~mysql_config --libmysqld-libs
-rdynamic -L/usr/lib/mysql -lmysqld -ldl -lwrap -lrt

However the libmysqld-dev package has no dependency onto libwrap0-dev,
hence breaking apps that are using the above output to link their code
against libmysqld.

So either a dependency needs to be added or the mysqld_config output
needs to be fixed to not include libraries that are not necessary to
link against.

Hi,

currently mysqld_config outputs this:
~mysql_config --libmysqld-libs
-rdynamic -L/usr/lib/mysql -lmysqld -ldl -lwrap -lrt

However to link against the mysqld library one also needs to link in
libcrypt. This library is missing in the above output and also missing
from the dependency of the package. This causes apps that want to use
mysqld to fail in linking.

Severity: normal

In libmysqlclient16 from 5.1 versioned symbols were used.

MySQL 5.5 no longer uses versioned symbols, apparently as a result of
the move to cmake.

The libmysql.ver.in file still exists, but no longer generates the
libmysql.ver file and the -Wl,version-script flag no longer gets
passed to ld.

I have also reported this bug upstream: http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=64386

Source: mysql-5.5
Version: 5.5.23-2
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 2.1

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
debian/rules contains a get-orig-source rule that downloads the tarball
and strips out the Docs directory. Amongst other things the Docs
directory contains an mysql.info file (which is non-DFSG) and a missing
upstream ChangeLog file (which is DFSG compliant). The rule is not
particularly well documented and as far as I can see there is nothing in the
Debian packaging to say that the upstream tarball had been modified to
make it DFSG compliant.

 Now it seems that at some point I directly downloaded from upstream
and that
it is this tarball that has been uploaded with 5.5.23-2. Also there is a
debian/watch file which is broken. The debian/rules rules hard codes the
chosen

mirror.
 One possible solution would be as follows:
1.) Fix the watch file to strip out Docs/mysql.info and use a number of
working mirrors.
2.) Rewrite the get-orig-source rule to use uscan.
3.) Install the upstream changelog and remove the associated lintian
overrides

4.) Upload a version 5.5.23+dfsg-1.

When the build directory contains a '+' certain tests fail.
This looks like it should be easily fixable with a bit of Perl.

Package: mysql-5.5
Version: 5.5.23-2
Severity: serious
Justification: Breaks /run transition

 ql-5.5 (5.5.23-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Changed /var/run to /run as required by Debian Policy 3.9.3 (9.1.1)

No, it's not required by policy. /var/run continues to exist, and
you should continue to use it. The new directory is available, but
that does not mean you should use it blindly.

Please **carefully** read
http://wiki.debian.org/ReleaseGoals/RunDirectory

You've broken the /run transition. You **can not use /run without
a versioned initscripts dependency**. Without it, /run does not
exist, and you certainly shouldn't be creating it yourself.

You have two options:
1) Revert to using /var/run
2) Add a versioned dependency as described in the above reference

This does not include working out how to undo the damage you have
caused, if this is safe or possible.

Regards,
Roger

Package: mysql-server-5.5

Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Upon upgrading to mysql-server-5.5, I find that /var/run/mysqld has been
needlessly renamed to /run/mysqld.

Pointless renaming is considered harmful!

You forgot to update a few things when you performed this pointless
operation. /etc/mysql/debian.cnf continues to reference /var/run/mysqld.
The perl DBI package continues to reference /var/run/mysqld.

The need to enumerate the innumerable potential dependencies on the
mysqld socket location can be ameliorated through the use of symlinks.
Add this to the postrm file:
   ln -s /run/mysqld /var/run/mysqld

But in fact, you could have avoided this whole problem in the first
place by not pointlessly renaming /var/run to /run.

In the future, try not to break things for no reason. We have symlinks
for a reason. Any unix admin who needs /var/run to live in a special
location can achieve this effect using mount or ln already. There is
no need to render every mysql-dependent configuration file suspect to
achieve this end.

If the person who decided to rename /var/run/mysqld to /run/mysqld
should happen to read this thread, I beg you to please consider swearing
off future contribution to open source projects. You are simply not cool
enough for my club.

- Greg

 Darn. I just fixed mine by no longer relying on 'ruby, ruby1.8, ruby1.8-dev'
 but just ruby1.8, ruby1.8-dev as I (mistakenly ?) concluded the package would
 not build under ruby 1.9.

I have to admit to being somewhat confused by that change, given that
debian/control in the upload also has:

Bug#555168: Unclear license situation for (e)glibc locales provided by you

2012-06-13 Thread Helge Kreutzmann
Hello,
you are listed as contact person/author of the following locale:

ga_IE

This locale comes with a statement

% Distribution and use is free, also
% for commercial purposes.

Thus it does not allow modification; it is unclear, however, if this
statement was meant as a license.

As discussed in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=555168 this
locale could strictly speaking not be part of Debian which would be a
great loss. (Currently it is allowed pending investigation).

To properly resolve this, I would like to ask you the following
question:

Would you be willing to relicense this locale to a proper license,
e.g. (L)GPL v2 or higher or another free software license of your choice?

If you have any questions regarding this issue, do not hesitate to
contact me (via the reply-to address set).

Thanks for helping to resolve this!

Helge

Bug#677328: [b-d][abel] rmysql (sid)

2012-06-13 Thread Nicholas Bamber
Dirk,
I really have no idea. I cannot reproduce the failures seen in the
build logs. Instead I got the xauth failure. I would try building in the
sid chroot on abel and see what you find. And as far as I can see xauth
cannot possibly explain the errors in the build logs.

 I still have various r-cran-* packages failing on armel and armhf -- and they
 all build everywhere else. Are you saying that xauth may be at the cause of
 this?

It's basically up to libdrm-dev maintainers. Do they expect that
stdint.h is a prerequisite before including drm.h?

On FreeBSD, including sys/types.h also gives you stdint.h. But
that doesn't apply to GNU systems. This looks like a simple
portability issue.

I think the best solution is to include stdint.h from drm.h.
stdint.h is the only header that garantees uintXX_t types (as per

I'm not sure what you mean here. You want sys/types.h to define
uintXX_t? Then you need to request this to Glibc maintainers.

Or perhaps you want to emulate a FreeBSD-like build environment,
regardless of GNU sys/types.h behaviour? There's a package
specifically for this purpose: freebsd-glue.

Bug#677418: gpm shares its clipboard among different users

2012-06-13 Thread Christoph Anton Mitterer
Package: gpm
Version: 1.20.4-6
Severity: grave
Tags: security upstream
Justification: user security hole

Hi.

Not sure whether noone has noticed this so far, but it seems to be worth
a CVE, IMHO.

As one can easily test, gpm uses one clip-board space for all users (including
root).
So if any of them marks anything sensitive, a following user can gather
this information.

Cheers,
Chris.

Bug#677419: fdupes: When using -L and traversing filesystems, removes files

2012-06-13 Thread Mike Hommey
Package: fdupes
Version: 1.50-PR2-3
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

By mistake, I have been using fdupes -rL on what i thought were
directories, but one was a symbolic link to a directory on another
file system. It found duplicates accross file systems, ... and
removed one end. For the little story, the end where it removed
files was /lib, and I was deduplicating chroots, so it found
plenty of duplicates... try running anything without ld.so...

Anyways, this can easily be reproduced. Assuming /mnt/a and /mnt/b
are two different filesystems:
$ echo a  /mnt/a/a
$ echo a  /mnt/a/b
$ echo a  /mnt/b/a
$ fdupes -rL /mnt/a /mnt/b

Bug#659784: Which version of libblas3 is #659784 fixed in?

2012-06-13 Thread sacrificial-spam-address
 Make sure atlas is also updated.
 It is likely to be your problem. Especially if you mix testing unstable.

Huh; I've used unstable (not testing) for years. I actually do have testing
in the sources.list, but I'm not using it.

I think what's happened is that I have a specialized atlas package
installed. They went away as of 3.8.3-25, but that never affected me,
because I didn't have the base package installed.

Bug#677421: mayavi2: segfaults as soon as a module is loaded

2012-06-13 Thread Francesco Poli (wintermute)
Package: mayavi2
Version: 4.1.0-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hello,
it seems that I am unable to use mayavi2 on an updated Debian testing
box.

I reproduced this bug with any data set I tried to visualize, hence
the package is currently unusable.

Steps to reproduce:

 0) take some data to visualize and start mayavi2; for instance:

$ zcat /usr/share/doc/mayavi2/examples/mayavi/data/fire_ug.vtu.gz
fire_ug.vtu
$ zcat /usr/share/doc/mayavi2/examples/mayavi/data/room_vis.wrl.gz
room_vis.wrl
$ mayavi2 -d room_vis.wrl -d fire_ug.vtu

 1) add a module; for instance: Streamline, or IsoSurface, or something else
(it does not seem to make any difference)

 2) mayavi2 exits and the only output on the terminal is
Segmentation fault

 3) /var/log/kern.log  says

python[10336]: segfault at 1d ip 7f6b433b387d sp 7fff89aa30c0 error
4 in libwx_baseu-2.8.so.0.8.0[7f6b432c8000+146000]

My guess is that the segfault has something to do with python-wxgtk2.8,
but I don't know whether it's triggered by some incorrect use on the side
of mayavi2 or rather by some misbehavior of the library...

Please help!
I cannot use mayavi2 until this bug is fixed!

Thanks for your time.
