This was originally noticed while building the package for raspbian (a
debian derivative for the Raspberry Pi and similar devices) but I have
reproduced it in a sid amd64 pbuilder environment.

This looks like a missing build-depends on zlib1g-dev. From looking at
the build log from the debian autobuilders it seems that the package
built in the past because of zlib1g-dev being pulled in indirectly.

Hi guys,

I would be happy to provide a backtrace, but I just don't know how to do it

It seems to be launched when gdm starts...
(and yes: I am a noob: I never did a backtrace before :-))

Bug#709946: gnome-settings-daemon: Segmentation fault during startup

2013-06-04 Thread Marco
 I would be happy to provide a backtrace, but I just don't know how
 to do it with gnome-settings-daemon: how/when should I launch it?

I don't think it's required to provide a backtrace any more. The bug
has been merged with #706330 which already has a backtrace.

For future bug reports: http://wiki.debian.org/HowToGetABacktrace

 It seems to be launched when gdm starts...

But you can always launch it from the terminal:

  $ gdb gnome-settings-daemon
  (gdb) run

The tricky part here is to open a terminal when the desktop session
fails to load. You can minimise the “Oh no!” screen with a key
binding (don't know which one is the default, I customised mine).
Then you can use your system (almost) as usual and open a terminal
to run gdb and obtain the backtrace.

 (and yes: I am a noob: I never did a backtrace before :-))

Don't worry. Except that it might require a recompilation it's not
too hard (see the link above). I appreciate your help.

Oops, missed the *unstable* part in there. Done.

According to debian/copyright the package should be autobuildable in

http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/pkgs.html#non-free-buildd

In case a DD signature is needed, come back to me.

When uploading a new version, you could do a merged upload of amd64+i386
- that's what I used for the nvidia stuff before I got autobuilding
turned on and became a DD:

* build amd64
* build i386 (binary only)
* mergechanges -f ..._amd64.changes ..._i386.changes
* sign ..._multi.changes

Package: bacula-director-pgsql
Version: 5.2.6+dfsg-9
Severity: grave

Hi,

I've upgraded from Debian 6.0 to Debian 7.0 and Bacula director does not
start after upgrade. It appears that the database was not upgraded:

| 14-May 14:24 bacula-dir JobId 0: Fatal error: Version error for
|   database bacula. Wanted 14, got 12
| 14-May 14:24 bacula-dir JobId 0: Fatal error: Could not open

|   database bacula. Wanted 14, got 12
| 14-May 14:24 bacula-dir ERROR TERMINATION
| Please correct configuration file: /etc/bacula/bacula-dir.conf

So far I've found that /usr/share/bacula-director/update_postgresql_tables
is the script to handle the upgrade but it's not executed automatically.

Cheers

Hi Alexander,

Thanks for your reply. I think my bacula installation comes from lenny,
but I don't think I created the database by hand (but can't be sure
about it, was a long time ago ;) ). I don't recall upgrade problems from
lenny to squeeze either.

Bug#711053: hugin: Hugin crashes X system and machine has to be rebooted to recover

2013-06-04 Thread rowan.windwhist...@gmail.com
Package: hugin
Version: 2013.0.0~beta1+dfsg-3
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation? Simply start hugin from a terminal and teh
whole X system crashes and cannot be started again till the sytem is rebooted.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)? I tried opening the program manually from the terminal as I
usually do. The program window hardly appears when the whole X system crashes.
   * What was the outcome of this action? A crash of the whole X system.
   * What outcome did you expect instead? Well, being able to open and use the
program as usual.

I am also enclosing the X log that may show why the X server is crashing (the
problem might be in the driver and not the program, no idea).
Thank you!

Bug#707821: sl-modem-source: fails to upgrade from squeeze [i386]

 Oops, missed the *unstable* part in there. Done.

  Thanks.

 According to debian/copyright the package should be autobuildable in
 non-free. Has this been requested to be whitelisted?

 http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/pkgs.html#non-free-buildd

  I did this request few years ago. And IIRC, sl-modem was whitelisted,
  hence I added XS-Autobuild to sl-modem, yet when I asked once I was
  told that autobuilders don't always work.

  Isn't there some sort of query to check if sl-modem is actually
  whitelisted or not ?

 When uploading a new version, you could do a merged upload of amd64+i386
 - that's what I used for the nvidia stuff before I got autobuilding
 turned on and became a DD:

 * build amd64
 * build i386 (binary only)
 * mergechanges -f ..._amd64.changes ..._i386.changes
 * sign ..._multi.changes
 * dput ..._multi.changes

  Ah, thanks. I didn't know about mergechanges.

Well, I actually had never imagined running vlock under an X session,
because I tend to think it's deemed to break sooner or later depending
on how X is configured/behaves/etc.: vlock is supposed to be started
from the virtual console itself. There it does work completely fine
(used a lot by a blind colleague of mine).

Bug#710646: listaller: FTBFS: runapp.c:26:36: fatal error: listaller-glib/manager.h: No such file or directory

2013-06-04 Thread Matthias Klumpp
Hi!
2013/6/4 Jeremy Bicha jbi...@ubuntu.com:
 In Ubuntu with packagekit 0.8.7, I needed to update listaller to 0.5.7
 to work around this bug as neither 0.5.5 or 0.5.6 would compile.

 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/listaller/0.5.7-0ubuntu1
Thank you for the hint! Unfortunately, everything is blocked by the
PackageKit transition at time, and I cannot do something about it at
Debian until PackageKit = 0.8.6 is in unstable.
With regards to PackageKit, you might want to know that the new PK
uses systemd, both the logind service and the init-system (if
available), to make offline-updates in GNOME work. You will need to
test if this works in Ubuntu. Also, I will remove the Aptd compat link
from the Debian package, since you will have to change this stuff in
Ubuntu anyway, and it was originally added to make it possible to
don't have a diff between Ubuntu and Debian. There shouldn't be any
drawbacks when doing that, so you most likely won't notice anything in
Ubuntu.
Anyway, I am glad that Ubuntu has PK 0.8.x now, and I will push the
packages to unstable as soon as I got clearance for the transition
(will probably happen together with a GNOME transition).
Thanks for the hint, because this means that I have to file some sync
requests at Ubuntu to ensure that nothing breaks over there (some
components of PK and LI have been split out into new source packages)
Regards,
Matthias

Bug#711064: Maintainer blocker bug to avoid too early Jessie migration

2013-06-04 Thread Didier Raboud
Package: cups
Version: 1.6.2-8
Severity: serious

Cups 1.6 brings in quite some invasive changes (move to cups-filters and
cups-browsed, etc) so I'd prefer if it could spend more time in unstable
to be sure we catch all bugs brought in by this new upstream release.

Please consult debian-print...@lists.debian.org before closing this bug.

Cheers,

OdyX

Bug#709482: dh_installinit: permit file-rc for upstart jobs

2013-06-04 Thread Colin Watson
On Thu, May 23, 2013 at 03:53:28PM +0100, Colin Watson wrote:
 Thorsten Glaser pointed out to me this morning that forwarding Ubuntu's
 backlog of Upstart jobs to Debian will cause a bunch of packages to be
 incompatible with file-rc. Now, I don't know how long file-rc is
 sticking around, but it doesn't seem right for Upstart jobs to be the
 thing that force it out, so I think we should fix this.

 I sent a patch to the file-rc maintainers as #709481 which brings their
 invoke-rc.d up to date with the upstart support in sysv-rc. Once that's
 applied, I think the following patch should be applied to debhelper,
 although you'll need to adjust it to match whatever version they choose.

 diff --git a/dh_installinit b/dh_installinit

The file-rc bug in question is now fixed, at version 0.8.16, so it
should be safe to apply this patch with that modification.

 Well, I actually had never imagined running vlock under an X session,

so important rather than grave maybe? And a warning/exit if run under X?

 Got it working after rebooting the machine, restart X seems does not
 work. I'm using systemd as init, but not sure whether this can be
 related.

Well, this may be. We need to restart X start-up code. Systemd may
require more than re-login to get X restarted.

Anyway, this confirms im-config 0.22-2 fix issues.

Question is what patch to push to stable.

Package: lldb-3.2
Version: 1:3.2repack-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

Trying to run the lldb-3.2 program does not work. Instead, the program
just exits without doing anything.

I previously had an lldb built from an old svn snapshot, which worked,
but I removed it to install this package.

Attached is the output of strace -f lldb-3.2 -d. However, the -d flag
doesn't have any effect.

The EIO in the slave terminal seem suspicious. I have no idea why
lldb is messing with /dev/ptmx in the first place, though.

Have fun,
-Ben

The FTBFS bug against xgalaga++ (#707481) is caused by debhelper, it
builds fine with debhelper 9.20120909 but not with debhelper
9.20130518. It appears that debhelper is not able to detect the build

Bug#711076: openvpn: FTBFS: pkg-config missing

2013-06-04 Thread Roland Stigge
Package: openvpn
Version: 2.3.2-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

openvpn FTBFS in current sid like this:

...
checking for lzo/lzo1x.h... yes
checking git checkout... no
configure: error: PKCS11 enabled but libpkcs11-helper is missing
== config.log ==
This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.
...

Adding pkg-config to the build environment helps. So this can be fixed by
adding pkg-config to Build-Depends. However, adding it to the used lib's (-dev)
Depends: could be helpful as well, so please coordinate.

bye,
  Roland

Bug#708245: backuppc: Upgrade from squeeze : backup fails with Failed to create directory

2013-06-04 Thread Ben Armstrong
Package: backuppc
Followup-For: Bug #708245

The bug filer hasn't provided the requested info in over two weeks. If TopDir
wasn't defined, how would that happen? Failure to update the config from an
a version created by an even older release? User error? Something else?

My backuppc upgrade from squeeze to wheezy did not have this problem, that I
can recall. If the issue does not affect all users, shouldn't this be
downgraded from grave to important? As it stands, backuppc is on the
Candidates for removal from testing (2013-06-04) due to this bug's severity
(see 51add842.9090...@thykier.net).

Thanks,
Ben

Bug#711065: gdm3 stuck in infinite loop

2013-06-04 Thread Matthias Liertzer
I can confirm the breakage of gdm3 as well after upgrading to the latest
version of d-conf in unstable. The user session, however, doesn't seem
to be affected. After installing lightdm, I can log into a gnome session
and everything works so far (I'm using gnome+xmonad).

Best, Matthias

Bug#711074: psi-plus: please port to libotr5-dev

2013-06-04 Thread Boris Pek
control: forcemerge 711074 702359

Hi,

Thanks for a bug report.

 your package build-depends on libotr2-dev, which is no longer built
 in sid as it has been replaced by libotr5-dev. Please port your
 package to the new library.

This is the known issue, see #702359.

BTW, recent binNMU was useless: psi-plus was rebuilt using libotr2-dev.

Best regards,
Boris

 The FTBFS bug against xgalaga++ (#707481) is caused by debhelper, it
 builds fine with debhelper 9.20120909 but not with debhelper
 9.20130518. It appears that debhelper is not able to detect the build
 system any more.

The xgalaga++ rules file does not use dh, nor does it use any dh_auto_*.
So how can detection of build system have anything to do with it?

You need to do better than that for this to be a valid bug report
against debhelper. Even if it were, it's very unlikely it would have RC
severity.

It tries to compile phpcups because you are building in a non-clean
environment, which has php-config. I'm then hereby closing this bug.

Please build in a clean build environment and report a new bug if that's still
a problem.

(I also note that hppa is the only architecture that doesn't have a
sufficiently new debhelper for the debian-ports buildd to catchup; that's
maybe the first thing to fix.)

Package: debhelper
Version: 9.20130516
Severity: normal

Hi Joey,

While fixing up debhelper in Ubuntu to match the dh_installinit upstart
implementation in Debian, I noticed that packages shipping upstart jobs
should have a versioned dependency on the version of sysv-rc whose
invoke-rc.d provides native support for upstart - otherwise, on upstart
systems the init script may be used instead of the upstart job in error.

This is more of an issue for Ubuntu than for Debian, since the versioned dep
is satisfied already in wheezy; but it would be correct to add it for Debian
as well, so I'm forwarding this patch on.

Thanks for considering the patch.

Subject: [PATCH] Packages with upstart jobs should carry a versioned
 dependency on sysv-rc

Depend on the version of invoke-rc.d that supports upstart jobs directly,
without which invoke-rc.d will incorrectly use the sysvinit script instead
of the upstart job when starting the service.

Hi,

Package: debhelper
Version: 9.20130518
Severity: serious

(I already sent this with a different title, but submit@ appended it to
the closed bug 708720, which isn't helpful, as this is a different bug;
the connection is just that the fix for that introduced this.)

Since this version, packages are appearing which Depend (via ${misc:Depends})
on sysv-rc (= 2.88dsf-24). This makes them difficult to install by people
who don't have sysv-rc installed.

For example, I am unable to upgrade past openssh-server 1:6.2p2-1 or
binfmt-support 2.0.13 because of this issue.

Unfortunately, what I think this bug-fix really wanted was Conflicts:
sysv-rc ( 2.88dsf-24), but there's no way to do that via the available
substvars hooks.

I'm kind of guessing on the Severity:. Looking for a Debian policy
must that this violates, my best guess so far is 9.3.1: it must not
be assumed by maintainer scripts that this method is being used, but
that's maybe not exactly what is meant.

Thank you!

Control: severity -1 important

Hi José,

 if you configure this kwin decoration in KDE's systemsettings in

Sure, but at the same time, the dialog itself tells you to configure it (Click
Configure icon to manage themes) and once you downloaded a theme using the
knewstuff, it just works.

That it doesn't work _by_default_ is a bug, granted, but not grave in my
reading, hereby downgrading to important.

Cheers,

OdyX

P.S. Yes, that sudden attention to this bug was triggered by the threat of
removal from testing. :)

Bug#710749: libjpeg-turbo: FTBFS on kfreebsd-amd64: tries to use 32-bit assembly

2013-06-04 Thread Mike Gabriel

tag #710749 moreinfo
thanks

Hi Aaron,

On So 02 Jun 2013 04:29:48 CEST Aaron M. Ucko wrote:

Source: libjpeg-turbo
Version: 1.3.0-1
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source

Thanks for addressing #710566 so promptly! Alas, on kfreebsd-amd64,
libjpeg-turbo gets past it only to run into another error: when
checking for object file format of host system (per logic propagated
from acinclude.m4 to configure by way of aclocal.m4), it doesn't know
what to make of kFreeBSD and falls back to assuming 32-bit ELF, which
naturally fails:

  checking for object file format of host system... ELF ?
  configure: WARNING: unexpected host system. assumed that the format is ELF.
  checking for object file format specifier (NAFLAGS) ... -felf -DELF
  checking whether the assembler (nasm -felf -DELF) works... yes
  checking whether the linker accepts assembler output... no
  configure: error: configuration problem: maybe object file format mismatch.

ELF is indeed a reasonable fallback these days, but I'd suggest
defaulting to the ELF64 case when the CPU type is x86_64 or amd64
and the OS is unknown.

Could you please take a look?

Thanks!

Attached you find a patch that may hopefully fix the reported issue.
Can you please review (as I do not have kfreebsd here to test atm)?

Thanks,
Mike

Looking at the test code in that file:

# HTTP::Headers 6.00 makes the next 2 tests fail. When the response comes
# in the header name is stored as x-err_headers_out. But when it is to
# be read below it is referred as x-err-headers-out and hence not found.
local $HTTP::Headers::TRANSLATE_UNDERSCORE=
$HTTP::Headers::TRANSLATE_UNDERSCORE;
undef $HTTP::Headers::TRANSLATE_UNDERSCORE
if defined HTTP::Headers-VERSION and HTTP::Headers-VERSION==6.00;

libhttp-message-perl 6.03-1 has HTTP::Headers VERSION 6.00
but the recently uploaded 6.06-1 has 6.05.

Changing that test to read 'HTTP::Headers-VERSION=6.00' fixes
the problem (although the equality comparison with a float makes me
slightly nervous.) Note that there are two instances of this code block
in the file.

I haven't verified this, but I assume this also applies to 2.0.8 with
Apache 2.2 and upstream should be informed. I couldn't find a CPAN
RT ticket about this in the HTTP-Message queue.
