Bug#724064: tar-scripts and openafs-client: error when trying to install together
Hi Bdale and Russ, On Sun, Sep 22, 2013 at 10:13:27PM -0600, Bdale Garbee wrote: Russ Allbery r...@debian.org writes: A conflict with openafs-client isn't really desireable, since that's a pretty widely installed package at sites that use AFS. Failing renaming, I'm inclined to split all the backup software off into a separate package that you can conflict with, since most people aren't using it. (That would be backup, butc, and fms.) I've got another bug report suggesting I rename the scripts to have a tar- prefix. Doing so would obviate the need for the Conflicts. I knew there was a reason I'd ignored the bug requesting I package and ship these scripts for nearly a decade... /o\ Renaming the conflicting files appart is of course largely preferable to declaring a conflict between packages. These checks are run quite frequently and I haven't seen this bug before, so it most probably was provoked by the recent upload of tar-scripts. But that doesn't mean anything about who has more rights to claim a particular path name. Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 723766: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=723766 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems ---BeginMessage--- Package: mudlet Version: 1:2.1-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I'm attaching a patch to use post-wheezy Lua package names in the Depends field. This amounts to replace liblua5.1-rex-pcre0 and liblua5.1 -sql-sqlite3-2 with lua5.1-rex-pcre and lua5.1-sql-sqlite3. Given that the lua-rex-pcre binary package provides the virtual package lua5.1-rex-pcre, if you need to depend on a specific version of lua-rex you can express it like: Depends: lua5.1-rex-pcre, lua-rex-pcre (= X) You can also use lua-rex-pcre directly in the dependencies, but using lua5.1-rex-pcre is preferred since it tells for which version of Lua you need the rex-pcre package. The lua-rex-pcre package currently provides it for both Lua 5.1 and 5.2. The same holds for lua-sql-sqlite3. Bug#712004: version 1.7.13 fixes #712004
Hi, I've just tried to update subversion to latest 1.7.13 (see the attached patch). It seems that this version provides apache module which are compatible with apache 2.4. Bug#724138: [pkg-eucalyptus-maintainers] Bug#724138: Future of the wss4j package in Debian.
Hi Charles, Thanks for looking into this. No, it is no longer needed moving forward so can likely be removed from Debian altogether without issue. -Brian On Sun, Sep 22, 2013 at 8:05 PM, Charles Plessy ple...@debian.org wrote: Dear Eucalyptus and Java teams, wss4j (Apache WSS4J WS-Security) is a package that was created in order to build the Eucalyptus packages, which are currently removed. The wss4j fails to build from source in Jessie and Unstable. Current version in Debian is 1.5.8. On the upstream website, versions 1.5.12 and 1.6.12 are available. The 1.6 line diverged after 1.5.11. A version 1.5.13, fixing some extra bugs, is available as a SVN tag but is not advertised on the upstream website. The Debian package contains a patch removing some code related to SAML, for a reason that I do not remember. This patch does not apply cleanly to version 1.5.12, and I suppose it will be the same for 1.6.12. For this reason, I could not test if updating to one of the latest upstream releases will make the wss4j package build again for source. Not knowing Java enough, I could not go further. My questions are the following: - Is wss4j still needed in Debian ? Would Eucalyptus 3.0 still use it ? - Is the Java team interested by taking it over, in any case ? Here is the extract of the build log that was sent to the bug report. Given that this could have been fixed at any point since wheezy, and wasn't, I think it's clear that we need some kind of forcing function to get our infrastructure fixed. Followup-For: Bug #722548 Control: found -1 3.6-rzb2752+dfsg-2 Problem is still present. There is a ucf bug (just filed #724457), but the primary cause is that ampache does two conflicting things on /etc/ampache/ampache.conf: * it is shipped as a symlink to /usr/share/ampache/www/config/ampache.conf * ucf/ucfr are used to place and register a configuration file there You should probably stop shipping the link. I've missed that miro uses the ffmpeg binary which is also going away. The attached patch additionally converts from ffmpeg to avconv (from libav-tools) and changes the parameters used to do the conversions to what avconv expects. Depending on the circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and diversions should only be used when packages provide different implementations for the same functionality. This piuparts test prevents the installation of (most) files into /usr/share/doc with 'dpkg --path-exclude=...'. Do not rely on files in /usr/share/doc/cortado anymore. Thanks to Andreas Beckmann for the report. (Closes: #710263) - Add cortado.maintscript to ensure the old web server configuration is preserved during an upgrade from Wheezy to Jessie and moved to the new conf-available directory. * Bump compat level to 9 and require debhelper = 9. * debian/control: - Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.4, no changes. - Use canonical VCS-URI. - Use a different short description for libcortado-java. - Remove alternative apache2-mpm-worker dependency because it is obsolete. - Remove ucf dependency, not needed. - Downgrade dependency on apache2 | httpd to Recommends because web applications should not depend unconditionally on apache2. - cortado: Relax dependency on libcortado-java to (= ${source:Version}) - Remove obsolete Replaces field for libcortado-java. * Fix lintian warning copyright-refers-to-symlink-license. * Remove destdir.diff patch. It was not applied anyway. * Add DEP3 headers to 01_fix_build.diff patch. * Update README.Debian. * Run wrap-and-sort -sa. Bug#724465: editra: Includes base64-encoded exe file without source code
Source: wxwidgets2.8 Version: 2.8.12.1-16 Severity: serious Justification: contains binary without corresponding source code wxwidgets2.8 contains an embedded copy of editra (only in the source package - we deliberately don't package this as there's a separate package for editra), and editra contains a python script with a base64 encoded .exe file - there's no source code supplied for this .exe file anywhere I can find in the package: wxPython/wx/tools/Editra/src/ebmlib/_winrecycle.py I've already reported bug #724465 against editra for this issue in the editra package, but wxwidgets2.8's orig source tarball will need another repack.
