Bug#724102: #724102: pandoc misses recommends on pandoc-data

2013-09-25 Thread intrigeri
Hi,

Charles Plessy wrote (25 Sep 2013 05:44:33 GMT) :
For the purpose of building manpages with pandoc, the solution is either to
build-depend on pandoc-data, or to make pandoc depend instead of recommend
 pandoc-data.

Let me know which solution you prefer.

As the maintainer of a package that is now FTBFS'ing due to the pandoc
package split, I don't care much: I can easily upload fixed packages
with the additional build-dep.

As a pandoc user, I wonder what pandoc is useful for without its
default set of templates (shipped in the -data package), that are
needed AFAIK for a huge majority of usecases, so I would strongly
prefer to see a depends here instead of a recommends.

But I'm not the maintainer of pandoc.

Cheers,

Bug#724543: at-spi2-core: Hold on 2.10 version until atk1.0 2.10.0 hits unstable

2013-09-25 Thread Michael Biebl
Hi Samuel,

looks like at-spi2-core built just fine against the older atk1.0 version
in unstable. So it's only the amd64 package which was built in a tainted
environment and picked up a dependency on libatk1.0 2.10.0 which doesn't
exist in Debian yet, even experimental (I assume this package was
locally built on your system)

That said, this could easily be fixed by binNMUing atk-spi2-core for amd64.
Or does at-spi2-core not work properly if it runs with libatk1.0-0 2.10 ?

Changes:
 multiboot (0.6.96+20101113-1) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * New Bazaar snapshot.
   * Use dh-autoreconf.
   * Convert from texi2html to makeinfo.
   * Drop cdbs; convert to debhelper v9 and dh. Make sure to disable
stack-protector and other hardening features which would otherwise be
 enabled by default.
   * Build-depend on gcc-multilib on amd64, so that -m32 works; although
building this package on amd64 is really only relevant for test rebuilds
 (closes: #713606).
   * Move /usr/share/doc/multiboot/examples/kernel.gz to
/usr/lib/multiboot/examples/kernel (now uncompressed), and leave a
symlink behind. While the previous version was tolerable since this
file is included only as documentation, doing it this way causes less
surprise and requires one fewer Lintian override (closes: #554187).
   * Add myself to Uploaders.
   * Remove obsolete DM-Upload-Allowed field.
   * Convert to source format 3.0 (quilt).
   * Add a Homepage field.
   * Drop lenny compatibility in install-info dependencies again; lenny is no
longer supported, and the hack to support it here may cause upgrade
 problems.
   * Add Vcs-Bzr and Vcs-Browser fields.
   * Policy version 3.9.4.

Justification: not yet suitable for testing

Hello,

Sorry, I didn't realize atk1.0 2.10.0 was uploaded to experimental only,
so the at-spi2-core/atk/pyatspi upload in unstable was spurious. Let's
not let it enter testing for now, at least, and we'll see whether we
need other uploads to unstable (will need mangled version), or
eventually we let it hit testing once atk1.0 does too.

Michael Biebl, le Wed 25 Sep 2013 12:00:42 +0200, a écrit :
looks like at-spi2-core built just fine against the older atk1.0 version
in unstable. So it's only the amd64 package which was built in a tainted
environment and picked up a dependency on libatk1.0 2.10.0 which doesn't
exist in Debian yet, even experimental (I assume this package was
 locally built on your system)

I had actually picked it up from incoming, and nothing told me that
was a package for experimental, unfortunately. It is indeed written
somewhere in the bug-closure mail, but it's in the .changes file, which
I indeed didn't take the time to read fully.

That said, this could easily be fixed by binNMUing atk-spi2-core for amd64.
Or does at-spi2-core not work properly if it runs with libatk1.0-0 2.10 ?

I should be fine, except some hidden dependency that upstream isn't
even aware of. What I'm almost sure of is that upstream never tried
at-spi2-core 2.10 with atk1.0 2.8, so that's why I preferred to avoid
it.

Now, that being said, you uploaded atk1.0_2.10.0-2 to unstable, so the
question is now moot and this bug can be closed :)

Bug#724325: xserver-xorg-video-nv: FTBFS against xserver 1.14

2013-09-25 Thread Robert Millan
Petr Salinger:
your package needs to be rebuilt against xorg-server 1.14. That
most likely means pulling in a couple changes from upstream git HEAD.

It suffices to put attached file into debian/patches/
 and enlist it in debian/patches/series.

Please, could some DD (Robert, please) do the upload.
Ideally for both kfreebsd-*, as non-free is usually not auto-build.

I'm on it.

I end up installing dspam-dbg and gdb and attach to the process [I wasn't able

Hi Charles,

If you aren't available, I will sponsor the upload. As a wss4j user,
I'd like to see it remain in Debian. It's one of those libraries that I
think Debian needs to have in order to be a legitimate Java platform.

Cheers,

Package: ibus-table-latex
Version: 1.3.0.20100528-3

Justification: renders package unusable

It's not possible to switch to latex input method in Ibus.
I can have the Hangul input method, but not the latex input method.

I guess this comes from a recent update, maybe one of ibus-table.

 building in?

It turns out my setting of preferences to opt out of broken redirection of
nonexistent host names to a web search (HTTP only) had expired again. When I
re-disabled it to fix DNS to properly return host not found errors, the build
failure went away. So, feel free to downgrade the severity of this bug.

This seems to have been happening lately because all warnings are
treated as failures for Jessie. I have other packages too that are
failing. I haven't had time to look into this, but the fix would be to
export CFLAGS variable, adding the warning flags there, or else fix
 every gcc warning..

No, that's related to changes in Linux 3.10:

See https://lwn.net/Articles/549737/

| create_proc_entry()/create_proc_read_entry() are killed off; use
proc_create().

This has already been fixed in upstream trunk:
http://sourceforge.net/p/iscsitarget/code/496/

You could pull the fix for the sid package.

Cheers,
Moritz

Bug#724609: wmbattery stopped working with kernel 3.10-3

2013-09-25 Thread richard
Package: wmbattery
Version: 2.41
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After the upgrade in Debian testing from kernel 3.10-2 to 3.10-3, on several
systems wmbattery stopped working. These systems include i686 and amd64
laptops. The CLI acpi shows the right status of the battery.

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from
'sid' to 'experimental'.
It installed fine in 'sid', then the upgrade to 'experimental' fails
because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a
Breaks+Replaces relation.

See policy 7.6 at

Bug#723050: can't log in

2013-09-25 Thread Mathieu MD
Thanks for your feedback.

It may have been the case the very first day, but now that I had reboot
many times, and still the problem is the same, what could it be?

(sorry for replying late: I did not received your message)
--
Mathieu

I see you also pulled in the libc and pam updates. During the libc
upgrade there should have been a dialog requesting service restarts
for ssh and cupsd as the upgrade breaks authentication. The wall of
text explaining the upgrade should have stated that X (and therefore
kdm) needs to be restarted manually after the upgrade, as restarting
X logs out any active sessions and would therefore kill the upgrade.
ssh works because it can be restarted safely.

This happens every time libc and pam are updated and is due to a
 limitation in pam.

TLDR; Any time you upgrade libc or pam, you /must/ log out and
 restart kdm.

Bug#667767: [pkg-php-pear] Moving libexpect-php5 packaging to pkg-php-tools (and pkg-php repository)

2013-09-25 Thread David Prévot
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

Hi Alex (sorry for the extra @packages.d.o copies, just wanted to
ensure anyone following those packages would get the notice),

libexpect-php5 is among the PEAR package that should be converted to
pkg-php-tools [1] (and dh-php5, thus the follow up to #667767). I’d like
to take this opportunity to encourage you to handle their packaging
under the Debian PHP Group umbrella [2], and move their repositories
under git/pkg-php on Alioth [3].

If you’d agree on the principle, but don’t have time to take care of it
yourself, I (or someone else from the team) would be happy to do it on
your behalf.

2: http://pkg-php.alioth.debian.org/
3: http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?a=project_list;pf=pkg-php

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Thanks for catching. How embarrassing. I see that -1 failed too,
but as an experimental package nobody noticed or cared. confirmed
via pbuilder (sbuild seems broken at the moment)

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  /usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/rack/templates/async.erb
  /usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/rack/templates/sync.erb

This bug has been filed against both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may then
also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug.

-Ralf.

 Hi Charles,

If you aren't available, I will sponsor the upload. As a wss4j user,
I'd like to see it remain in Debian. It's one of those libraries that I
think Debian needs to have in order to be a legitimate Java platform.

Thanks Tony for the help, feel free to upload if you are the first to have

Package: python-lesscpy
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hello Thomas, Julien and Mehdi,

trying to build python-lesscpy in a clean environment with sbuild fails for
multiple reasons:

1. dh_auto_clean tries to run pyversions, which is not installed due to a
missing build-dependency on python-minimal:

dpkg-buildpackage: source package python-lesscpy
dpkg-buildpackage: source version 0.9h-1
dpkg-buildpackage: source distribution experimental
 dpkg-source --before-build python-lesscpy-0.9h
dpkg-buildpackage: host architecture amd64
 fakeroot debian/rules clean
make: pyversions: Command not found
py3versions: no X-Python3-Version in control file, using supported versions
dh clean --buildsystem=python_distutils --with python3
   dh_testdir -O--buildsystem=python_distutils
   dh_auto_clean -O--buildsystem=python_distutils
dh_auto_clean: failed to run pyversions
make: *** [clean] Error 2
dpkg-buildpackage: error: fakeroot debian/rules clean gave error exit status 2

2. Even when installing python-minimal, the build fails because there is a
utf-8 encoded character in the LICENSE file:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File setup.py, line 27, in module
license=open('LICENSE').read(),
File /usr/lib/python3.3/encodings/ascii.py, line 26, in decode
return codecs.ascii_decode(input, self.errors)[0]
UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 20:
ordinal not in range(128)
make[1]: *** [override_dh_auto_install] Error 1

I don't know if this needs fixing in Debian at all, due to arch:All packages
being built on the developer's machine only, where most likely utf-8 is
available, but in Ubuntu for example, all packages are built on the build
farm, making this package unbuildable there.

Cheers,
   Andreas

Hi,

I believe this has been fixed with version 0.9j-1 of the package. Since
it is only in Sid (not yet in testing), I'm simply closing the bug.
