With this change your bookview package wikk fail to build from source (see [1] for details, you can play with Tcl/Tk packages from the experimental branch). As far as I can see, to fix this it's sufficient simply to switch from versioned tcl8.4, tk8.4 dependsncies to just tcl, tk (which select the currently default version). In experimental tcl and tk pull tcl8.6 and tk8.6 respectively. Though it's possible that using 8.6 will break something, it's better to switch to it as 8.4 is discontinued upstream and will be removed from Debian soon (certainly before jessie release). -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.1 APT prefers proposed-updates APT policy: (500, 'proposed-updates'), (500, 'stable'), (100, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash diff -u bookview-3.2.1/debian/changelog bookview-3.2.1/debian/changelog --- bookview-3.2.1/debian/changelog +++ bookview-3.2.1/debian/changelog @@ -1,3 +1,10 @@ +bookview (3.2.1-1.1) unstable; urgency=low + + * Non-maintainer upload. + * Replaced dependency on tcl8.4, tk8.4 by the current default tcl and tk. + + -- Sergei Golovan sgolo...@debian.org Mon, 30 Sep 2013 10:36:12 +0400 + bookview (3.2.1-1) unstable; urgency=low * New upstream release. This packages calls install-info explicitly from a maintainer script [M], but these are handled now by a trigger. Also as part of the transition from the dpkg install-info to the GNU install-info [T], dpkg has carried a compat wrapper, which will be disappearing with the next dpkg 1.17.0 upload, at which point I'll rise the severity to serious due to the program not being available at install time by default anymore. [M] http://lintian.debian.org/tags/install-info-used-in-maintainer-script.html [T] http://wiki.debian.org/Transitions/DpkgToGnuInstallInfo To fix this you should either simply rebuild with a newer debhelper if using it, and/or remove any explicit install-info call in the maintainer scripts. Package: rjava Version: 0.9-4-1 Severity: serious Hi, rjava Depends on openjdk-6-jre, but openjdk-6 is going away. Please adjust your dependency to either use default-jre, openjdk-7-jre or some other java implementation. NB: openjdk-7 is not available on mipsel, but rjava has been built there. If you change your dependency to openjdk-7-jre, you probably have to get rjava/mipsel removed from unstable. If there is *strong* interest in libdane I can doublecheck and enable if feasible (or else document). I am interested in libdane, and would like to know what the rationale is. I'd also be curious to know more about some license rationale for --without-tpm, though i consider TPM of much lower interest compared to DANE. Hello, tpm used to be undistributable, see https://gitorious.org/gnutls/gnutls/commit/0fcbd34c953304dd06ebd49389af4b78575bd55b and http://lists.gnutls.org/pipermail/gnutls-devel/2013-October/006539.html. The dane situation is slightly better, but still sucks. libdane requires and links against libunbound. libunbound OTOH is linked against OpenSSL's libssl on Debian[1]. Therefore libdane and any program using it ends up being dynamically linked against both libssl (OpenSSL license) and GnuTLS (LGPLv3+ via gmp). The result is not undistributable but not very useful, since it is e.g. GPL-incompatible.[2] Apart from that it is more than a little bit ugly that libdane customers end up being linked against two different major TLS toolkits. cu Andreas [1] From a quick look at unbound's ./configure it looks like it could use NSS instead of OpenSSL. I guess the license situation might be better then, but the ugliness still remains. [2] GnuTLS' danetool commandline program is GPLv3 and would therefore be undistributable. -- `What a good friend you are to him, Dr. Maturin. This is forbidden by the policy, see http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#s-config-files 10.7.3: [...] The easy way to achieve this behavior is to make the configuration file a conffile. [...] This implies that the default version will be part of the package distribution, and must not be modified by the maintainer scripts during installation (or at any other time). Note that once a package ships a modified version of that conffile, dpkg will prompt the user for an action how to handle the upgrade of this modified conffile (that was not modified by the user). Further in 10.7.3: [...] must not ask unnecessary questions (particularly during upgrades) [...] If a configuration file is customized by a maintainer script after having asked some debconf questions, it may not be marked as a conffile. Instead a template could be installed in /usr/share and used by the postinst script to fill in the custom values and create (or update) the configuration file (preserving any user modifications!). Bug#727140: dokuwiki is not installed into apache
Hontvari Jozsef Levente, 2013-10-22 17:39+0200: The problem is that the postinst script tries to create a link in /etc/apache2/conf.d to /etc/dokuwiki/apache.conf. However, apache has no conf.d directory. It has conf-available and conf-enabled directories. Right, this is because of the new configuration structure with apache2 = 2.4. I will update the package now, sorry for the delay. -- ,--. : /` ) Tanguy Ortolo xmpp:tan...@ortolo.eu | `-'Debian Developer irc://irc.oftc.net/Tanguy \_ signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#727140: order of conf files
Hontvári József Levente, 2013-10-25 13:48+0200: I would add, that creating the link /etc/apache2/conf-available/dokuwiki.conf is not enough if dokuwiki is installed in the root path, e.g. wiki.example.com. In that case javascript-common.conf, which is dependency, will be read only after dokuwiki.conf. The order is important, the javascript-common Alias /javascript /usr/share/javascript/ directive must come first, before the dokuwiki Alias / /usr/share/dokuwiki/ directive. Using the link name zzzdokuwiki.conf, for example, solves the ordering issue. Are you sure about that? For what I understand, order is not relevant at all, since all these only defines what the web server will answer to client's requests: requests to think in /dokuwiki will use one alias, and thos in /javascript will use the other, no matter what request is made first by the browser… I do not know Apache2 enough, but I guess a more elegant solution would be to adding dokuwiki to apache as a virtual host, instead of a server level configuration. In that case the name of the link would not affect the behavior. No, a virtual host would not be acceptable and is better left to the user when he polishes his installation, since we cannot guess if he will want an IP address-based virtual host or a name-based virtual host, and, most importantly, all these require network configuration, while the current default path-based solution just works once the package is installed. Or rather, will work when I fix it, that is. :-) -- ,--. : /` ) Tanguy Ortolo xmpp:tan...@ortolo.eu | `-'Debian Developer irc://irc.oftc.net/Tanguy \_ signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#727140: order of conf files
On 2013.10.27. 17:48, Tanguy Ortolo wrote: Hontvári József Levente, 2013-10-25 13:48+0200: I would add, that creating the link /etc/apache2/conf-available/dokuwiki.conf is not enough if dokuwiki is installed in the root path, e.g. wiki.example.com. For what I understand, order is not relevant at all, since all these only defines what the web server will answer to client's requests: requests to think in /dokuwiki will use one alias, and thos in /javascript will use the other, no matter what request is made first by the browser… The emphasis is on if dokuwiki is installed in the root path. In that case the two aliases are /javascript and /, which are overlapping. When I first tried a link named dokuwiki.conf Apache2 issued a warning telling that the second alias may override the first, and it may have no effect. And when I tested it, /javascript was indeed inaccessible. I have read a few pages from the Apache documentation, and this behavior seems to be matching the documentation. It is strange, because in such situations usually the longer prefix has the higher priority (Java servlet mappings, Nginx Locations(?)), but likely there was a good reason why they made Alias dependent on the declaration order.

Bug#728026: systemd: timeout opening/writing control channel /run/initctl + Failed to get D-Bus connection: Failed to connect to socket /run/systemd/private: Connection refused
Package: systemd Version: 204-3 Severity: grave Justification: no more able to shutdown system except by turning off power Dear Systemd Maintainers, first sorry for the late bug report. The following happened the first time on 13th of September 2013 (i.e. shortly after the 204-3 upload while being booted with 204-2 initially IIRC, hence reporting against 204-3), but occurred only once at that time. In the meanwhile it though happened at least two more times with 204-5 (last time on 2nd of October -- I've stopped playing with systemd at that point), so despite I don't know how to reproduce it deterministicly, it's definitely reproducable for me after a while. Michael Stapelberg told me you haven't heard about such an issue so far, so I guess this bug report is still interesting for you despite being late. Bug#728027: libgringotts: package versioning leads to reused versions and thus rejects
Source: libgringotts Version: 1:1.2.1-2 Severity: serious Hi, About a year ago, libgringotts acquired an epoch in its version so that a lower version number could be used. Unfortunately this approach _does not_ permit version numbers to be re-used when the only difference is the epoch. Filenames for items such as .changes and .deb files do not contain the epoch, leading to rejects from the archive management software on architectures where libgringotts 1.2.1-2 was previously built; see the architectures stuck in uploaded on https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=libgringotts The solution to this is to ensure that version numbers are unique other than via epochs. Bug#727786: follow-up 2 for: removal of libc6-amd64 makes system unusable
So I was indeed able to recover my system by changing the symlink in /lib64/ with an emergency USB key. For the record, after shutdown, the system of course would not come up. I am afraid that people with less patience than I would conclude that their system was hopelessly ruined. However, I have one issue remaining: what to do now with the half-installed state of libc6-amd64. Trivially, I don't trust removing libc6-amd64 will do the right thing and currently apt is blocked by the state of libc6-amd64. I thought reinstalling libc6-amd64 would at least keep apt happy, but no. paul@wollumbin ~/motif/debian-pkg-xshisen $ sudo apt-get install libc6-amd64 Reading package lists... Bug#728047: ttf-cjk-compact-udeb: needs an update: missing/broken glyphs in d-i
Package: ttf-cjk-compact-udeb Version: 1.21 Severity: grave Tags: d-i patch Justification: renders package unusable Hi, the first post-wheezy debian-installer upload has a broken support for CJK glyphs in the graphical installer. I supposed this package needed an update, and that's indeed the case. I've done the following: - apt-get source ttf-cjk-compact-udeb - dch -n - chmod a+x po2ul.py - dpkg-buildpackage -b Putting the resulting udeb under localudebs/ and rebuilding d-i fixes at least the language selection screen (I haven't checked any further). This leads to an exploitable stack overflow. . For this condition to occur, the following two conditions must be true: - Quagga is configured with --enable-opaque-lsa - ospfd is started with the -a command line option . If either of these does not hold, the relevant code is not executed and the issue does not get triggered. Closes: #726724 . * New upstream release - ospfd: protect vs. VU#229804 (malformed Router-LSA) (Quagga is said to be non-vulnerable but still adds some protection) Checksums-Sha1: 061471c02b6d21bc26cba7f91aeb06277e6ab65c 1484 quagga_0.99.22.4-1.dsc 73019bf915ff4fe7cd497f11579c05f35fe09df5 2352406 quagga_0.99.22.4.orig.tar.gz 3dee9fe815ff1413af3633e403b21583dba870d4 39688 quagga_0.99.22.4-1.debian.tar.gz 9caccc4b5fa65a93d28ded5f68e50679ec0c115c 1104292 quagga_0.99.22.4-1_amd64.deb a9f0fbf62ab9a7f78a7fba50b0010e899340cd44 1674196 quagga-dbg_0.99.22.4-1_amd64.deb ee3f50e27998a295f9c73f687ed0b05fbcf8a08d 656596 quagga-doc_0.99.22.4-1_all.deb Checksums-Sha256: 55119296a031d02927069f08ee04a0818c482c276fdfcbcdcaecb35f4fb040d5 1484 quagga_0.99.22.4-1.dsc cbe48d5cc57bbaa07cfd8362ba598447dc94aa866ddc5794e57172709d36ba79 2352406 quagga_0.99.22.4.orig.tar.gz 64e2ca7fc664f606f6ffba38400639a8be05f4d623f43c260a6ba27f6e6f89dc 39688 quagga_0.99.22.4-1.debian.tar.gz d686471950ecb3edf135df58e3351af7a7e98fc2cbfe94d4cadc2de96e05c608 1104292 quagga_0.99.22.4-1_amd64.deb c49689d253eac5f76240485a87d73c5131c566af99ceb6db3fd7f6136c8a1f81 1674196 quagga-dbg_0.99.22.4-1_amd64.deb db1acae350cf7cf35067750c6ddc72244a721753a01e63e77ed3ca78289277a6 656596 quagga-doc_0.99.22.4-1_all.deb Files: fc433383b84a5a02b039bde1e4746f41 1484 net optional quagga_0.99.22.4-1.dsc 27ef98abb1820bae19eb71f631a10853 2352406 net optional quagga_0.99.22.4.orig.tar.gz 789744be712f78c2ab9468e9b5eb60cd 39688 net optional quagga_0.99.22.4-1.debian.tar.gz 13a6ef49eacba2e8c32d35fb3f6e97a6 1104292 net optional quagga_0.99.22.4-1_amd64.deb 9eb699ce33657d706a9ffcc3e6eb5f08 1674196 debug extra quagga-dbg_0.99.22.4-1_amd64.deb 234393ba29852f1458fa01ab39bea3fe 656596 net optional quagga-doc_0.99.22.4-1_all.deb -BEGIN
