Bug#728608: ooeclipseintegration: FTBFS: unsatisfiable B-D: openoffice.org-java-common

Hi,

That's why it's nowwhere in the real archive. just in experimental.

$ rmadison ooeclipseintegration
 ooeclipseintegration | 1.0.3.a-1 | experimental | source

Actually it never was elsewhere :)

With libreoffice in the archive maybe ooeclipseintegration can be removed?

Or updated to a new upstream which supposedly supports LO now... (but TTBOMK
removes the cpp stuff and I don't want to encourage people to use more Java)

Regards,

Rene

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12916176/gfortran-for-dummies-what-does-mcmodel-medium-do-exactly
which indicates that they stem from having too many large static
arrays and recommends either making some of them dynamic (allocatable)
or, if that's not feasible, building with -mcmodel=medium. It's not
clear whether code built with that flag will safely be able to use
libraries built without it, though.

At any rate, could you please take a look?

Bug#728562: libgpars-groovy-java, groovy: error when trying to install together: overwriting /usr/share/groovy/lib/gpars.jar

 Hi,

automatic installation tests of packages that share a file and at the
same time do not conflict by their package dependency relationships has
 detected the following problem:

Preparing to replace groovy 1.8.6-1 (using .../groovy_2.1.6+dfsg-1_all.deb)
 ...
   Unpacking replacement groovy ...
   dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/groovy_2.1.6+dfsg-1_all.deb
 (--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/share/groovy/lib/gpars.jar', which is also in
 package libgpars-groovy-java 0.10-1

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
 implementations for the same functionality.

Whilst this may a priori be a failure of the Debian packaging rules, the
situation stems from the fact that GPars used to be a totally separate
thing from Groovy, but now the Groovy distribution includes and relies
on GPars even though it is has a separate development line. I argue that
the Debian package strategy may well be the underlying problem here
because it does not allow multiple versions of artefacts as is standard
practice in the JVM-verse.

Whilst libgpars-groovy-java used to be a good idea, the gpars artefact
should be an integral part of the groovy package from Groovy 2.0
onwards.

Also worth noting that GPars 0.10 is ancient, we are now at 1.1 and
wondering when to release 1.2.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
 slightly out of sync):

   /usr/share/groovy/lib/gpars.jar

This raises the issue of why Debian has a single unnumbered artefact
when the Java universe works with numbered artefacts so that different
versions can be used in the same system. In particular, in order to
have Gradle 1.x installed, Groovy 1.8.x must be installed, which means
Groovy 2.1.x cannot be installed unless Gradle is removed. There is a
viscous circle here leading to Debian being unable to support the Groovy
infrastructure.

Debian really needs to change it's Java and Groovy policies to enable
multiple versions of artefacts.

To be honest the current situation means most people ignore the Debian
packaging system for Java and Groovy (and indeed Scala, Ceylon, Kotlin,
Clojure, etc.) and use the language specific installations. For Groovy
this means using GVM, which is a Bash based package installer which just
requires some Java install at JAVA_HOME. Most people use the Oracle
distribution, particularly those of us using Java 8 – which cannot be
packaged by Debian for Unstable for sensible reasons.

This bug is assigned to both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may
also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug.

 Cheers,

 Andreas

Bug#726733: av_register_all() segfaults on s390x in some cases (regression, causes FTBFS)

Also, I wonder why s390x would require -DPIC -fPIC in compilation
 flags, but s390 would not.

Where did you get that impression? As far as I can tell, the required
flags are -fPIC -shared, on all platforms.

In the meantime, I checked that my minimal example compiles and runs
fine on wheezy s390x. I can't check sid s390 as it has been retired.

Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.114
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system
Control: affects -1 linux-image-3.11-1-amd64

Dear Debian folks,

upgrading to `linux-image-3.11-1-amd64` I was not able to enter the LUKS
password while it works without problems using
`linux-image-3.10-3-amd64`. benh told me in #debian-kernel on
irc.oftc.net, that it is probably due to the split of the Linux module
`ohci-hcd` and the module `ohci-pci` is required in initramfs for using
the USB keyboard. It would be awesome if you could add it (also for
Debian Backports).

I will be able to test the fix on Monday or Tuesday.

Thanks,

Paul

Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.113
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The new version (114) make my sytem unbootable. During the boot,
the system stop with this message :

Begin : Running /scripts/local-premount... resume: libgcrypt version 1.5.3

And nothing seemed to work.
I've tried to boot the kernel provides by debian (3.11-trunk-686-pae)
and the result was the same.

The preceding version (113) works perfectly. And I've downgraded
the package to be able to boot.

Is there an invalide things in my configuration ?

Cheers.

Hi,

a typo in the recent changes to the resume hook made it no longer honour
the $RESUME device as specified in /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume.

Trivial patch is attached.

Let me add that the hook then auto-generates a $RESUME device using the
device UUID, which broke resume on my machine, where swap is in LVM.
I am not sure, but this breakage and the similar reports #576490 and
#568877 suggest that this is actually another, far more serious bug.

Bug#683331: Missing dependency on net-tools

2013-11-04 Thread bertagaz
Hi,

On Sun, Nov 03, 2013 at 05:57:07PM +, Daira Hopwood wrote:
Hmm, apparently tahoe-lafs has been removed from testing due to this bug
 (see https://release.debian.org/britney/hints/auto-removals).
Some warning would have been nice.

There has been some on the debian-devel-announce list and such channels
from the release team.

The fix of adding the net-tools dependency is trivial, so I don't know how
 this slipped through the cracks.

This bug has been fixed in the upcoming package update. It should be
uploaded in the coming days. Sadly it has been a matter of days.

But it wouldn't have avoided this removal, since it will bring a new bug
regarding FHS support, which in Debian is a RC class one. I'll report it
on the upstream bugtracker. I plan to get the package quickly updated to
close this one, then tahoe-lafs should flaw into Jessie again.

bert.

I'll send an email to the creator of XMail to see what his plans are.

Bug#728444: libfontconfig1: xpdf is broken by fontconfig version 2.11.0-1

I wonder why nobody thought to report a release-critical bug against

I am doing this right now, in order to at least give apt-listbugs users
an opportunity to be warned about this issue and to pin libfontconfig1,
until a fixed xpdf has migrated into testing.

Users should be aware that remaining with libfontconfig1 2.10.2-2
may block some security fixes, since many new packages are built
with libfontconfig1 2.11.x thus depends on this version at least.
This is the case with iceweasel (via xulrunner-24.0), which I had
to rebuild locally on my machines (since I still want xpdf to be
usable).

Bug#728562: libgpars-groovy-java, groovy: error when trying to install together: overwriting /usr/share/groovy/lib/gpars.jar

2013-11-04 Thread Emmanuel Bourg
Hi Russel,

Thank you for your help in sorting this out. As I understand that means
Debian has to package Groovy 1.x and 2.x separately.

For the clarification, Debian can ship several versions of the same
library. It's just avoided until it's absolutely necessary (junit 3 and
4, asm, servlet-api are some examples). jars in /usr/share/java are
simply renamed to avoid collisions.

Regarding Java 8, you may be interested to learn that it's now possible
to build a Debian package of the official Java 8 preview release using
java-package 0.53.

I hope the groovy package in Debian will become a first class citizen in
the Groovy ecosystem, we aren't there yet but if you know of people in
the Groovy community interested in helping they are welcome!

Emmanuel Bourg

Hi!

The rebuild has happened in the middle of a transition of some of the
packages the lcgdm package build requires.

lcgdm build requires gsoap. Gsoap has recently been updated from version
2.8.12 to version 2.8.16, which has caused a transition form libgsoap3
to libgsoap4.

lcgdm also build requires cgsi-gsoap-dev, which in turn depends on
gsoap. cgsi-gsoap has not yet been binnmued due to the gsoap transition.

The lcgdm rebuild drags in both libgsoap4 (from the gsoap build
requirement) and the old libgsoap3 (from the cgsi-gsoap-dev requirement)
and then tries to link the cgsi-gsoap (built for libgsoap3) and
libgsoap4 together and fails - which is the correct thing to do.

Please retry again once the cgsi-gsoap binnmu due to the gsoap
transition has been competed.

Setting blocked-by the transition bug.

Hi,

I'm currently investigating the migration from libproxy0 to libproxy1
(see #724653) and tomboy (both unstable and experimental) is FTBFS with
this new version.

This is related to libproxy soname being hardcoded in
debian/WebSyncServiceAddin.dll.config, adjusting the soname fix the
FTBFS.

Cheers

Bug#728706: Debian-installer crashes on IA64 in HPVM (Integrity Virtual Machines)

2013-11-04 Thread Lennert Van Alboom
Package: debian-installer
Version: 20131104
Tags: ia64
Severity: grave

Booting debian 7.x installer isos in an Integrity VM (virtualization on top of
HP-UX/IA64) causes a guest crash after loading the initrd (the menu does work,
and the crash happens regardless of selecting 'Install' or 'Expert'):

Uncompressing Linux... done
Loading file \initrd.gz...done

 Dumping Guest Image

 Done with dump (3820Kbytes)

*** VM restarting ***

Logs show little useful stuff (/var/opt/hpvm/guests/VMLINUX/log):

Virtual machine started at Mon Nov 4 14:15:14 2013

Virtual machine stopped at Mon Nov 4 14:15:19 2013

There is a 3911856 byte vm.core file which I presume is the dump mentioned in
the console.

Debian 6.0 does boot, although it lacks drivers for the virtual disks. Debian
5.10 works completely (boot and drivers).

Host machine: HP zx6000, 2 x single core Intel (R) Itanium 2 Processor (Family
31 Model 1 stepping B1 == Madison 1.5GHz)
Host OS: HP-UX B.11.31
HPVM version: B.04.30.00
Debian iso: debian-testing-ia64-netinst.iso (2013-11-04); identical results
with 7.0 and 7.1

I'd like to get Debian running on my HPVMs again - 5.10 is really, REALLY old
by now.

Thanks,

Lennert

Hi,

Your package has a strict dependency on openjdk-6, which is being
removed in Jessie. Please update your dependencies to either use
default-jdk or openjdk-7-jdk instead.

On a related note, the following two dependencies look a bit odd:

Depends: openjdk-6-jre | cacao-oj6-jre | java6-runtime,
  ..., openjdk-6-jdk

Based on that, the first clause looks pretty redundant as
openjdk-6-jdk implies openjdk-6-jre.

JFTR: we are very near to upload a new soprano version which will allow us to

But we need to solve soprano first.

Bug#728706: Debian-installer crashes on IA64 in HPVM (Integrity Virtual Machines)

Not really, it is not broken for many people.

Booting debian 7.x installer isos in an Integrity VM (virtualization on top of
HP-UX/IA64) causes a guest crash after loading the initrd (the menu does work,
and the crash happens regardless of selecting 'Install' or 'Expert'):

So the kernel crashes somewhere. There is no real development for ia64
in Debian, so I'm not sure who can help.

There is a 3911856 byte vm.core file which I presume is the dump mentioned in
 the console.

Can you try if the crash util is able to read this?

Bastian

 Hi,

Actually, it does not, it fails on:

checking for a thread-safe mkdir -p... /bin/mkdir -p
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking whether make supports nested variables... yes
configure: error: source directory already configured; run make

(removing config.status does not fix the issue)

Package: dpkg
Version: 1.16.8
Severity: important
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts
Control: affects -1 syslog-ng-core

Hi,

the syslog-ng-core is one of the few packages using symlink conffiles,
causing trouble for piuparts and debsums because dpkg does not properly
handle this. There are several other issues with symlink-conffiles, but
none seemed to match this.

The following files are shipped by the syslog-ng-core package in sid:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 37 Oct 3 15:49
/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/syslog-ng.service -
/lib/systemd/system/syslog-ng.service
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 37 Oct 3 15:49 /etc/systemd/system/syslog.service -
/lib/systemd/system/syslog-ng.service
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 251 Oct 3 15:49 /lib/systemd/system/syslog-ng.service

The symlinks in /etc/ are conffiles.

And syslog-ng.service is having these md5sums:
3933398f3e6cf91d25e515977876208b  /lib/systemd/system/syslog-ng.service  ==
3.3.6-1, sid
41541800d349863ddd9f4279211ec4b3  /lib/systemd/system/syslog-ng.service  ==
3.3.5-2, wheezy

dpkg -s syslog-ng-core (relevant parts extracted)

# fresh installation on wheezy:
Package: syslog-ng-core
Version: 3.3.5-2
Conffiles:
 /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/syslog-ng.service
41541800d349863ddd9f4279211ec4b3
 /etc/systemd/system/syslog.service 41541800d349863ddd9f4279211ec4b3

# fresh installation on sid:
Package: syslog-ng-core
Version: 3.3.6-1
Conffiles:
 /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/syslog-ng.service
3933398f3e6cf91d25e515977876208b
 /etc/systemd/system/syslog.service 3933398f3e6cf91d25e515977876208b

# fresh installation on wheezy and distupgrade to sid:
Package: syslog-ng-core
Version: 3.3.6-1
Conffiles:
 /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/syslog-ng.service
41541800d349863ddd9f4279211ec4b3
 /etc/systemd/system/syslog.service 41541800d349863ddd9f4279211ec4b3

The md5sum for the symlink-conffiles does not get updated during package
upgrades - the link itself does not change, but the link target (that
was hashed and is not a conffile in this example) has been updated.
And of course debsums claims there are modified conffiles ...

Bug#726801: biomaj: fails to install with Recommends enabled

In general, $RET should probably be put under quotes.
But the deeper problem seems to be that Template: biomaj/mysql in
the template doesn't have a Default: setting.

   /var/lib/dpkg/info/biomaj.postinst: 30: /var/lib/dpkg/info/biomaj.postinst:

This seems strange. The line is

For me biomaj installs; interesting observation:
# dpkg-reconfigure biomaj

# echo $?

But not the java: not found problem.

# which java
/usr/bin/java

IOW: I can't reproduce the installation failure (amd64 sid chroot,
DEBCONF_FRONTEND=noninteractive), neither with biomaj-watcher nor
with biomaj, neither with --with-recommends nor with
--without-recommends.

Bug#727118: ccbuild: FTBFS on several architectures

2013-11-04 Thread Bram Neijt
Dear Niels and public,

I've released a new version to fix the build failure: version 2.0.5

It's downloadable at
http://www.logfish.net/pr/ccbuild/downloads/ccbuild-2.0.5.tar.gz and
https://github.com/bneijt/ccbuild/archive/v2.0.5.tar.gz

The fix was adding --std=c++11 for bobcat's headers to allow for a clean
build.

Greetings,

Bram

 Hi,

Your package FTBFS on several architectures were it was built in the
past. This is a regression from the previous version and prevents
 testing migration as well.

It seems something unrelated went wrong with that build because 2.8.0-1 has
just built fine for me in kfbsd-amd64 porterbox (against libimobiledevice4).
Anyway, I'm going to upload 2.8.0-2 in a couple of moments so there is no need
to retry -1 build.

Hi Vincent,
that's true, no doubt.

This is the case with iceweasel (via xulrunner-24.0), which I had
to rebuild locally on my machines (since I still want xpdf to be
 usable).

Users who are not willing to do the same (perhaps because they do not
have the time and/or the required expertise), will have to choose
between an up-to-date system with an unusable xpdf and a system lagging
behind some package upgrades with a usable xpdf.
Unfortunately.

That's why I really hope this issue may be fixed very soon...

Familiarity from the user standpoint is the main thing I'm looking for. :-)

but if you want me to sponsor it, my preferences are available from

All of these preferences seem reasonable to me. I'll contact you in a couple
of days.

At this point mainly I want to check which bug #'s the new upload will close,
check the Mumble upstream bug tracker relating to the DEP3 headers on a quilt
patch I've included, and remove the unnecessary (= 1.42) on the libboost-dev
dependency.

Hi,

A security issue was recently fixed in nss 3.15.2:
[0] https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2013-1739

For unstable, its probably easiest to just update directly to the
latest upstream version to fix this. Actual patch is still behind a
restricted bug report, so I was not able to fully check affected
versions.

Best wishes,
Mike

Bug#727070: xpdf freezes

2013-11-04 Thread Luis Mochan
Package: xpdf
Version: 3.03-11
Followup-For: Bug #727070

Dear Maintainer,

xpdf suddenly stopped working for me under jessie. Seems my problem must be
this same bug (I checked I have fontconfig 2.11.0-1). I have a 686 system where
the program seems to stall, and an amd64 where I get the message
xpdf.real: pthread_mutex_lock.c:65: __pthread_mutex_lock: Assertion
`mutex-__data.__owner == 0' failed. Aborted.
For me it is quite critical, as I have several scripts that use xpdf.
Best regards,
Luis

Bug#728756: FTBFS on powerpc/ppc64, patch attached

2013-11-04 Thread Adam Conrad
Package: makedumpfile
Version: 1.5.4-1
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu trusty ubuntu-patch

In Ubuntu, the attached patch was applied to achieve the following:

  * 0003-powerpc-vmap_area_list.patch: Apply patch from RedHat to add
vmap_area_list definitions on powerpc and ppc64 to fix the FTBFS.

The patch itself should be fairly self-explanatory when compared to
the failed build logs. Cheers.
