Please switch to boost 1.54 (or even better B-D on unversioned

Package: python-whoosh-doc
Version: 2.5.6-2
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

an upgrade test with piuparts revealed that your package installs files
over existing symlinks and possibly overwrites files owned by other
packages. This usually means an old version of the package shipped a
symlink but that was later replaced by a real (and non-empty)
directory. This kind of overwriting another package's files cannot be
detected by dpkg.

This was observed on the following upgrade paths:

For /usr/share/doc/PACKAGE this may not be problematic as long as both
packages are installed, ship byte-for-byte identical files and are
upgraded in lockstep. But once one of the involved packages gets
removed, the other one will lose its documentation files, too,
including the copyright file, which is a violation of Policy 12.5:
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s-copyrightfile

For other overwritten locations anything interesting may happen.

Note that dpkg intentionally does not replace directories with symlinks
and vice versa, you need the maintainer scripts to do this.
See in particular the end of point 4 in
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-unpackphase

It is recommended to use the dpkg-maintscript-helper commands
'dir_to_symlink' and 'symlink_to_dir' (available since dpkg 1.17.2)
to perform the conversion, ideally using d/$PACKAGE.mainstscript.
See dpkg-maintscript-helper(1) and dh_installdeb(1) for details.

From the attached log (usually somewhere in the middle...):

2m52.9s ERROR: FAIL: silently overwrites files via directory symlinks:

2014-01-25 Thread ssi

Dear Maintainer,
the sflphone GUI (Gnome) aborts as soon as a call is hung up.

- installed system: Debian 7.3 wheezy

   Linux kauz 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.51-1 x86_64 GNU/Linux
- used: sflphone-client-gnome 1.1.0

- sceanrio:
1. start sflphone
2. successfully connected, SIP registered, GUI started
3. telephone call successfully established
4. call is hung up via clicking GUI or via shortcut
5. == GUI is aborted, see stdout prints below
remark: the sflphoned is still running and accepting incoming calls. But
the GUI is not started again. Therefore the call cannot be picked up without

Bug#724255: util-linux: FTBFS: m4 runs out of memory

2014-01-25 Thread Helmut Grohne
Control: tags -1 + patch

On Sun, Nov 10, 2013 at 08:56:36PM +, Wookey wrote:
 Confirmed. I get exactly the same issue building this package in current
 amd64 unstable chroot.

 Changing to previous m4 version (m4_1.4.16-5_amd64.deb) makes no difference:

 The commands being run are:
 /usr/bin/sh autopoint --force
 which runs:
 /usr/bin/perl -w /usr/bin/autom4te --no-cache
 --language=Autoconf-without-aclocal-m4 --trace=AM_GNU_GETTEXT_VERSION:$% -
 configure.ac
 which runs:
 sh -c /usr/bin/m4 --nesting-limit=1024 --gnu --include=/usr/share/autoconf
 --debug=aflq --fatal-warning --debugfile=/tmp/am4tDdyolT/traces

Thanks for the initial work. I tracked it down to m4_shiftn(2, sequence
of two elements) causing an infinite loop from _UTIL_CHECK_SYSCALL in
configure.ac. For some reason the optimized version m4_shift2 introduced
in autoconf 2.62 (very old version) does not suffer from this issue.

Also note that the relevant configure.ac code got completely rewritten
on the path to 2.24 and probably does not suffer this issue. I assume
that a new upstream release would fix this FTBFS as well. In addition a
new upstream release is kinda required to fix other RC bugs of
util-linux.

Should I NMU the attached patch to util-linux?

Bug#736599: libusb3: broken shlibs declaration for udeb

2014-01-25 Thread Julien Cristau
Package: libusb3
Version: 9.2+ds2-3
Severity: serious
Control: block 728919 with -1

Hi,

you renamed libusb2debian-udeb to libusb3-udeb, but:
$ dpkg -I
/srv/ftp-master.debian.org/ftp/pool/main/f/freebsd-libs/libusb3_9.2+ds2-3_kfreebsd-amd64.deb
 shlibs
libusb 3 libusb3
udeb: libusb 3 libusb2debian-udeb

This results in broken dependency for usbutils-udeb, at least. Please
fix ASAP.

Cheers,
Julien

Bug#735791: ekiga: FTBFS: configure: error: Could not find a version of the library!

2014-01-25 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Control: tag -1 patch

On 2014-01-25 08:50, Eugen Dedu wrote:
 To fix the bug I had to modify an .m4 file. The .m4 file alone is not
 sufficient, I had to modify the configure file too. Because autotools
 programs changed since the time the configure file was generated, I had
 two choices:
 - either I manually patch the configure file with the few lines changed
 by the modification given by the .m4 file
 - or I regenerate the configure, but the patch will be huge.

There is a third solution: use dh_autoreconf and regenerate configure at
compile time

 I used the first method. For an unknown and mysterious reason, for the
 two architectures it failed.

Multiarch libdir detection by autoconf does not work on i386:
host arch is i486-linux-gnu, therefore it searches in
/usr/lib/i486-linux-gnu, but multiarch libdir is /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu.
ax_boost_base.m4 is not working correctly for Debian/i386 and needs more
patching ...

 Should I use the second solution?

Wouldn't help.

Patch attached.

Bug#736561: roxterm exits upon entering a comma

2014-01-25 Thread Tony Houghton
On Sat, 25 Jan 2014 00:24:54 +0100
Toni Mueller supp...@oeko.net wrote:

 as of recently, entering a comma (',') in a roxterm window causes
 roxterm to exit immediately. I have tried with various shells (csh,
 bash, zsh) and other terminal emulators (xterm, gnome-term), and the
 problem occurs only when using roxterm, regardless which shell I use,
 and not on any other shell, also regardless of the shell in question.

You might have accidentally assigned comma as a shortcut for closing the
window or tab. Please check these items in the menu (File submenu).
Shortcut editing can be enabled/disabled in Preferences Configuration
Manager Shortcuts, and shortcuts are changed by pressing a key while
the mouse is over a menu item.

If that isn't the case, does it only close the current tab or window, or
do all roxterm windows close at once? Any indication of a segmentation
fault or something if you run it from another terminal?

Unfortunately I didn't add debugging packages until 2.8 so if it is a
crash you'll probably have to recompile it so we can work out what's
going on.

 Hi Markus,

 Thanks for taking care of this bug.

 I'm kinda slow nowadays to react to some bug reports but I'll be happy to
 review and sponsor the new revision when you are ready. Just let me
 know about it.

Hi Miguel,

No problem. Since I have dealt with the last security issue, I thought
I'll care for this related follow-up bug, too. :)

Yesterday I sent a request for review and sponsorship to the debian-java
list.

https://lists.debian.org/debian-java/2014/01/msg00052.html

I have simply tried to backport upstream's commits. In case of
CVE-2013-6430 that was straightforward but the other one needed
additional work. I'd be glad if you reviewed my changes and uploaded the
package to unstable. I will then open a new RT security ticket and
hopefully the libspring-java can be uploaded to stable-security, too.

Regards,

Markus

Bug#736572: dictionaries-common: upgrade failure due to missing dependency on emacsen-common

2014-01-25 Thread Agustin Martin
2014-01-25 Paul Wise p...@debian.org:
 Package: dictionaries-common
 Version: 1.20.5
 Severity: serious
 Justification: upgrade failure

 I attempted to upgrade my system to dictionaries-common 1.20.5 but the
 preinst failed because I do not have emacsen-common installed. Either
 emacsen-common needs to be a pre-dependency or the preinst should check
 for emacs-package-install before using it, probably the latter is best.

Hi, Paul, thanks for the info.

This check should already be done in 1.20.5 preinst (indirectly
through checking for the installed stamp, as created by
dh_installemacsen)

Previously used manual snippets instead or relying in those
automatically created by dh_installemacsen, with nothing in preinst.

I need to know more about your system, tried to reproduce the problem
in a sid pbuilder chroot, initially without none of

Bug#637757: libaudio-ecasound-perl: FTBFS on mips

2014-01-25 Thread Damyan Ivanov
Control: clone -1 -2
Control: reassign -2 libecasoundc1/2.9.1-1
Control: retitle -2 libecasoundc1: int-cmd-list command fails on mips
Control: block -1 by -2

Dear ecasound maintainers,

It appears there is a problem with ecasound/libecasoundc1 on mips,
which causes failures in the test suite of libaudio-ecasound-perl,
making it FTBFS.

I was able to isolate the problem using the following C program:

-8--
#include stdio.h
#include stdlib.h
#include libecasoundc/ecasoundc.h

void main( int argc, char**argv) {
eci_init();

if ( eci_error() ) {
fprintf( stderr, init Error: %s\n, eci_last_error() );
exit(1);
}

eci_command(int-cmd-list);
if ( eci_error() ) {
fprintf( stderr, Error: %s\n, eci_last_error() );
exit(1);
}

const char * t = eci_last_type();
fprintf( stdout, T=%s\n, t);
if ( strcmp( t, S ) == 0 ) {
int cnt = eci_last_string_list_count();
int i;
for ( i = 0; i  cnt; i++ ) {
fprintf( stdout, S[%d]=%s\n, i, eci_last_string_list_item(i) );
}
}
exit(0);
}
-8--

Compile: `gcc -o ecatest -lecasoundc ecatest.c'
Run: `./ecatest'

Running it on amd64 gives 200 commands as a result, but fails on mips
(tried on gabrielli.debian.org):

dmn@gabrielli:~$ strace -f -o trace -s 1024 ./ecatest

The first thing that the test suite of libaudio-ecasound-perl does is
to retrieve the list of the commands, much like the above program, and
fails with exactly the same message.

The trace ends with:

Bug#736612: Does nothing

2014-01-25 Thread Osamu Aoki
control: severity 736612 normal

Hi,

FYI: I do not have any problem here

This should not be used to indicate you are extremely annoyed.

 When I use im-config, it writes these to console:

I would say What the h*** too. But problem seems to be not im-config
but zenity in your environment.

In order to make problem cleaner, can you change Desktop locale to be
en_US.UTF-8. I would like to see exactly what happens under
reproducible environment from my side.

 virhe luettaessa tiedostoa ”Asiakirjat”: On hakemisto means: error
 reading file ”Asiakirjat”: Is directory. Asiakirjat happens to be the
 first file or directory in my home directory, when running running
 command ls.

Meaning is one thing but we need to track the code where these strings
are living in. The program is written in English strings while they get
translated with gettext mechanism. So, please.

 Why on earth it tries to do something in that directory ~/Asiakirjat ?
 Where is the current configuration of im-config?

I do not know. but to identify issues and forward to zenity with
meaningful message, we need more data from you. At least, I do not have
problem like yours here on sid.

H... this make me think Why are you reporting sid/testing
version bug with such system.

Why put aggressive testing-proposed-updates in 500 while keeping testing
in 102. This seems to indicate you tend to believe library from any
repo can be mixed. (Debian's package version dependency description is
getting better on handling odd combinations but this is like playing
with fire.) For your case, upgrade to testing seems right thing to do
if you can.

Please make sure you have consistent library from a single set of repo
unless you know extremely well on this library ABI issue.

To me, you have broken library ABI issue by using unsupported
combination of packages.

Hmmm... unless you have a clean rational report as follow-up in a week
or so, I will close this bug. (I consider this to be user
mis-configuration at this moment.)

Bug#736481: nettoe: FTBFS due to test suite failures

2014-01-25 Thread Mats Erik Andersson
Let me for the record add a comment that the test suite
can fail of exactly one reason:

   /* test/terminfo.c  */

   if ((sp = getenv(TERM)) == NULL) {
 printf();
 exit(EXIT_FAILURE);
   }

Thus the observed FTBFS is caused by a build environment
lacking a defined TERM.

I am unable to reproduce the failure on i386 using

   $ pbuilder --build --twice ...

Could it be that libtinfo-dev_5.9+20140118-1 is interfering?
But on the other hand, my pbuilder call generates the same
dependency on libncurses.

Regards,
  Mats Erik Andersson, upstream author of Nettoe.

Bug#736561: roxterm exits upon entering a comma

2014-01-25 Thread Toni Mueller

Hi,

On Sat, Jan 25, 2014 at 01:31:32PM +, Tony Houghton wrote:
 You might have accidentally assigned comma as a shortcut for closing the
 window or tab. Please check these items in the menu (File submenu).
 Shortcut editing can be enabled/disabled in Preferences Configuration
 Manager Shortcuts, and shortcuts are changed by pressing a key while
 the mouse is over a menu item.

thanks for pointing this out. Unfortunately, I have no idea about how to
inspect the current assignments, and also no idea how to delete one.
Simply having the configuration dialogue open and then pressing the
comma key while the mouse is placed on the close button, closes the
window straight away. Pressing Delete in the shortcuts dialogue says I
cannot delete the default assignments (or so).

 If that isn't the case, does it only close the current tab or window, or
 do all roxterm windows close at once? Any indication of a segmentation
 fault or something if you run it from another terminal?

After having other problems (eg. one program hanging - loss of *all*
other shells), I have resorted to run the terminals all with --separate,
so I lose only one at a time. But yes, the whole window closes, with
everything inside being killed. In my strace output, some processes get
sent a SIGTERM. I found no indication of a crash, and I get no core
file, although I have enabled programs to dump core (and other programs
do). IOW, I think that something sends a signal that makes the terminal
exit cleanly.

 Unfortunately I didn't add debugging packages until 2.8 so if it is a
 crash you'll probably have to recompile it so we can work out what's
 going on.

Ummm... I'll look into that.

Kind regards,
--Toni++

Bug#733966: On ckeditor package

2014-01-25 Thread Mathieu Parent
Hello Frank,

Your package ckeditor has been removed from testing, and several
reverse-dependencies with it. It currently has 4 bugs, 2 of them being
RC-critical.

#733966 (Please migrate to yui3) and #641808 (Includes a copy of YUI
which is packaged in debian) are related. #641808 seems already fixed,
as there is no yui.js in the package anymore [1], because you
shipped the standard flavor, without the uicolor plugin. #733966 can
then be fixed by simply removing the recommends.

[1]: http://packages.debian.org/sid/all/ckeditor/filelist

The other RC #735345 (Sourceless file) can be fixed by stripping the tarball.

The last one #666167 (ckeditor: missing adapters/jquery.js file) is easy to fix.

Some questions:
- Do you intent to solve those quickly?
- If not, can I do?
- Is there any VCS repo dor your packaging?

Regards

Bug#637757: libecasoundc1: int-cmd-list command fails on mips

2014-01-25 Thread Damyan Ivanov
submitter 637757 !
thanks

Dear ecasound maintainers,

Sorry for the BTS ping-pong, please find below the rationale for
cloning this bug to libecasoundc1.

Thanks!

 It appears there is a problem with ecasound/libecasoundc1 on mips,
 which causes failures in the test suite of libaudio-ecasound-perl,
 making it FTBFS.

 I was able to isolate the problem using the following C program:

 -8--
 #include stdio.h
 #include stdlib.h
 #include libecasoundc/ecasoundc.h

 void main( int argc, char**argv) {
 eci_init();

 if ( eci_error() ) {
 fprintf( stderr, init Error: %s\n, eci_last_error() );
 exit(1);
 }

 eci_command(int-cmd-list);
 if ( eci_error() ) {
 fprintf( stderr, Error: %s\n, eci_last_error() );
 exit(1);
 }

 const char * t = eci_last_type();
 fprintf( stdout, T=%s\n, t);
 if ( strcmp( t, S ) == 0 ) {
 int cnt = eci_last_string_list_count();
 int i;
 for ( i = 0; i  cnt; i++ ) {
 fprintf( stdout, S[%d]=%s\n, i, eci_last_string_list_item(i) );
 }
 }
 exit(0);
 }
 -8--

 Compile: `gcc -o ecatest -lecasoundc ecatest.c'
 Run: `./ecatest'

 Running it on amd64 gives 200 commands as a result, but fails on mips
 (tried on gabrielli.debian.org):

 dmn@gabrielli:~$ strace -f -o trace -s 1024 ./ecatest

 to retrieve the list of the commands, much like the above program, and
 fails with exactly the same message.

Not using bash (or a Debian Policy conformant shell interpreter which
doesn't provide such an extra feature) as /bin/sh is likely to lead to
errors or unexpected behaviours.

You can find hints about how to fix bashisms at:

refdb-init fails with the error message:
refdbctl is not where it is supposed to be

Inspecting /usr/sbin/refdb-init, I see the error message arises due to
a test for /usr/bin/refdbctl.

But refdbctl is located at /usr/sbin/refdbctl, not /usr/bin, hence the
error.

While packaging a new upstream release is sufficient, there also is a
1-line fix available against the old code base. I am attaching a patch,
which also happens to fix the FTBFS (cause without that fix you couldn't
evaluate this fix anyway, right?).

I intend to NMU util-linux. Please raise any objections soonish.

From my pbuilder build log:

autoreconf: running: autopoint --force

At this point, m4 starts eating all available memory on the system, until it's
either interrupted or gets killed by the kernel OOM. In one case where I let
it run until killed by OOM, I then got this in the build log:

Bug#736656: libdbi-drivers: drivers not found anymore, due to multi-arch

2014-01-25 Thread Gergely Nagy
Source: libdbi-drivers
Version: 0.9.0-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

libdbi1 0.9.0-1 is built with a multi-arch, and will search for
drivers in a multi-arch directory, but the binaries produced from
libdbi-drivers still produce packages that use the old, non-multiarch
directory. This renders any software using libdbi unusable, as they
will not be able to find drivers.

This issue (metacafe-dl: Fails to download videos) appears to be fixed
for me, and since metacafe-dl is only a symlink to youtube-dl the fix
was likely a new upstream version of youtube-dl.

Hi,

you renamed libusb2debian-udeb to libusb3-udeb, but:
$ dpkg -I
/srv/ftp-master.debian.org/ftp/pool/main/f/freebsd-libs/libusb3_9.2+ds2-3_kfreebsd-amd64.deb
 shlibs
libusb 3 libusb3
udeb: libusb 3 libusb2debian-udeb

This results in broken dependency for usbutils-udeb, at least. Please
fix ASAP.

Cheers,
Julien

Bug#736682: linux-image-3.12-1-rt-amd64 3.12.8-1 fails to boot too early for netconsole; 3.12.6-2 succeeds

2014-01-25 Thread Zenaan Harkness
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.12.8-1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

As subject says, the previous version 3.12.6-2 of the -rt-amd64 kernel boots
on my Lenovo X220 laptop, the current version 3.12.8-1 does not.

I successfuly enabled kernel netconsole logging, for all my installed
kernels, with debug on etc, and I verify this with a bootable kernel (not
-rt works), but the latest -rt kernel hangs too early in the boot process
for any netconsole output to appear.

I am competant to follow procedures, although I don't have access to a
camera (very old phone, rural area) so I can't show the early boot log
messages - although the last line of output that does appear on the boot
screen is the following:
[0.191060] [Firmware Bug]: ACPI: BIOS _OSI(Linux) query ignored
(although the time is probably different) (this one just here is from my
current non-rt kernel, but that's the last line of output I get when trying
to boot the -rt kernel), so it looks like there is nothing obvious in the
logs, as far as I can see (although I am not particularly familiar with
them).

I have two laptops - one to do the netconsole logging, but currently only
one USB to serial port adapter - should I order/buy another, and try
netconsole logging with a USB serial connection?

Let me know what I need to do next to facilitate finding (if possible) this
bug.

Thanks
Zenaan

Bug#709668: [PARTIAL PATCH] Re: Bug#709668: embperl: test failure with perl 5.18

2014-01-25 Thread Axel Beckert
Hi Gerald,

On Mon, Aug 26, 2013 at 08:13:41AM +0200, Gerald Richter wrote:
 I will take a closer look to it during the next few days, create a

I just noticed there's a new Embperl 2.5.0 RC4 and checked how far it
comes with regards to the test suite.

There are still a bunch of hash randomisation issues. I've attached a
patch which fixes all of those I encountered so far by running the
test suite many dozen times. I would expect that you could apply this
patch to your code without changes.

Further I disabled all tests which just check more or less Perl
version specific error messages (i.e. includeerr{2,3}.htm) in our
package build. (But I think that should be solved differently
upstream, if it's an issue for you, too.)

This leaves so far two issues which look like real bugs:

#66 lists.htm fails occassionally and non-deterministically, but it
doesn't seem to be a hash randomisation issue. If it fails, it looks
like this:

#66 lists.htm...
Error in Line 54
Is: /select/p
Should: optionvalue=BSELECTED2/option
Input:  test/html/lists.htm
Output: test/tmp/out.htm
Compared to:test/cmp/lists.htm
Log:test/tmp/test.log
Testparameter:
  query_info = sel=2SEL1=BSEL3=DSEL4=cc

And if I check test/tmp/out.htm vs test/cmp/lists.htm, I see

pselect name=D1  size=1
option value=A 1/option
/select/p

but should see

pselect name=D1  size=1
option value=A 1/option

option value=B SELECTED2/option

option value=C 3/option

option value=D 4/option

option value=E 5/option

option value=F 6/option
/select/p

This does not look like a hash randomisation issue to me and hence may
be a real bug.

If #66 passes, the next one which fails (and always fails) is #147
exit.htm:

#147 exit.htm...
Error in Line 11
Is: After Exit
Should: EOF
Input:  test/html/exit.htm
Output: test/tmp/out.htm
Compared to:test/cmp/exit.htm
Log:test/tmp/test.log
Testparameter:
  cgi = 0

This looks like a real bug as [- exit -] seems to have no effect but
should have an effect.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Axel

Bug#736688: wordpress-theme-twenty{twelve, thrteen}: fails to upgrade from 'testing' - trying to overwrite /usr/share/wordpress/wp-content/themes/twenty{twelve, thirteen}/footer.php

2014-01-25 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: wordpress-theme-twentytwelve,wordpress-theme-twentythirteen

Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from
'testing'.
It installed fine in 'testing', then the upgrade to 'sid' fails
because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a
Breaks+Replaces relation.
(Similar problems upgrading from wheezy to sid.)

See policy 7.6 at
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#s-replaces

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):
