Bug#738816: tortoisehg: not installable in sid, needs to migrate to mercurial 2.9
Package: tortoisehg Version: 2.10-1 Severity: serious User: trei...@debian.org Usertags: edos-outdated Affects: tortoisehg-nautilus tortoisehg is currently not installabe in sid since it depends on mercurial (= 2.7~), mercurial ( 2.9~) However, the version of mercurial in sid is 2.9-1 (since 2014-02-10). Since the dependency is hard-coded in debian/control this requires a sourceful upload. Cheers -Ralf. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#738775: insserv: Insserv 1.16 tries to connect to systemd even though system is running on sysv-init
I've tried to reproduce this part of your problem report: * What was the outcome of this action? Cannot install initscripts after installing insserv 1.16 because it tries to connect to systemd which is present on the system but not used as PID 1. I have no problem installing initscripts or any other package, even if insserv spew out lots of error messages. So the problem you reported seem to be non-fatal and irrelevant for any installation problem. Can you tell me more about how the installation of initscripts fail? The svn version of insserv reduces the amount of messages, but are still printing warnings. The behaviour do not change, as far as I can tell. -- Happy hacking Petter Reinholdtsen -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#738832: Segmentation fault in libmagic (src:file) [CVE-2014-1943]
Package: file Version: 5.11-2 Severity: grave Tags: security [ Re-sent to BTS by request of the security team, also updated ] a bug in the handling of indirect magic rules of libmagic leads to an infinite recursion when trying to determine the file type of certain files. The has been assigned CVE-2014-1943. Additionally, other well-crafted files might result in long computation times (five seconds for a single file while using 100% CPU) and overlong results (~400k line), something some applications that operate on the file result might not handle in a sane way. The issue has been made public by Bernd Melchers who initially found this bug: http://mx.gw.com/pipermail/file/2014/001327.html Impact is two-layered. The bug itself has been introduced years ago (pre oldstable). From jessie on, the default magic file as shipped in the package contains a file magic rule that is exploitable for a segmentation fault. In other words: jessie: Always affected and in full scale. squeeze/wheezy: Segmentation fault when using non-standard magic files that use indirect in a certain way. Still vulnerable for the computation time and overlong issues mentioned above. Upstream released 5.17 last night, fixing the bug for all reproducers I have in my collection. Backporting the patch is not trivial but hopefully feasible. I'll give that a try later the day. Bug#738752: Bug#738791: transition: qhull
This compilation failure has | gcc ... -I/usr/include/qhull | PyMca/Object3D/Object3DQhull/Object3DQhull.c:7:19: fatal error: qhull.h: No such file or directory | #include qhull.h The latest upstream qhull uses /usr/include/libqhull and /usr/include/libqhullcpp for C and C++ header files, respectively. And libqhull.h instead of qhull.h. So instead of #include qhull/qhull.h ane should now use #include libqhull/libqhull.h I've added compatibility links from /usr/include/qhull/* for the contents of the above directories. This report has caused me to add another compatibility link from /usr/include/qhull/qhull.h to /usr/include/qhull/liqhull.h. So building with liqhull-dev (= 2012.1-3) might solve this problem. But in the longer term, it would be best to transition to the new path and filename. Cheers, --Barak. -- Barak A. Pearlmutter Hamilton Institute Dept Comp Sci, NUI Maynooth, Co. And no dependency information is given so that packages that are linked with the version in wheezy can be trivially installed without requiring libldns1 update, and hence breaking other packages. At the very least, the library (actually libldns-dev package) should provide symvers information, so that dpkg is able to track this sort of things automatically. I'm not sure how to deal with the current mess in bpo60 -- here I had to use my smartphone in order to d/load libldns1 from wheezy, since the update broke our DNS resolver and I weren't able to d/load anything anymore. But since no package provides any dependency information, it's difficult to say how to actually fix this properly... Bug#738567: uses futimens, which is supported only on linux-any
Hello, David Kalnischkies, le Tue 11 Feb 2014 19:36:59 +0100, a écrit : On Mon, Feb 10, 2014 at 06:35:37PM +0100, Petr Salinger wrote: The apt 0.9.15.1 started to use futimens instead of previous utime. The futimens() is not supported on kfreebsd. Could this be added to the manpage utimensat(2)? I had looked there and assumed that by POSIX1.2008 and that it is in glibc it would be safe to use it as utime replacement… Well, but with old Linux kernels you would have the same issue. The futimes() is currently supported (at least) on linux, kfreebsd, hurd. It isn't part of any standard though, so I would worry now that we could run into problems with it as well. Indeed. But you could at least check for them in configure.ac and use what is available (autoconf will properly figure out that futimens are ENOSYS stubs in glibc on !linux, BTW). Bug#731806: debian-installer: FTBFS on sparc: genisoimage errors
[ TL;DR: d-i FTBFS on sparc, what do we do now? ] Thomas Schmitt scdbac...@gmx.net (2013-12-10): Cyril Brulebois wrote: genisoimage: Error: './tmp/miniiso/cd_tree/boot/.' and './tmp/miniiso/cd_tree/boot/..' have the same ISO9660 name ''. [...] Probably some FS-dependent fun? Anyone would have a clue about it? Looks like an internal error of genisoimage. '.' should be mapped to a 0x00-byte in ECMA-119, '..' to 0x01. See ECMA-119, 6.8.2.2 Identification of directories. These names are reserved for that purpose. Any other colliding ECMA-119 names should be handled by mangling. Thanks, Thomas. @Kurt: did anything change on the buildd setup side? Both lebrun and spontini got that FTBFS, while that wasn't the case before: https://buildd.debian.org/status/logs.php?pkg=debian-installerarch=sparc genisoimage comes from src:cdrkit, which wasn't exactly updated in a while: http://packages.qa.debian.org/c/cdrkit.html I've got to double check what happens on smetana, but I think I didn't get that error when trying to debug this FTBFS a few months ago. I'm not sure we want to continuously give it back until it builds (which it might on schroeder, since it didn't fail there yet)… Failing a short resolution, I'm tempted to pretend sparc isn't an issue, and maybe ask for a migration to testing + dak copy-installer. @debian-release: would that sound reasonable? @ftpmasters: I'm not sure an out-of-date build is going to be OK on the dak side. What do you think? But why is that mini.iso produced by genisoimage at all ? debian-7.2.0-sparc-netinst.iso was produced by xorriso. @Thomas: Probably due to historical reasons. Not sure I want to be touching that since I know nothing about architecture/image-specific settings. :/ Mraw, KiBi. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#731806: debian-installer: FTBFS on sparc: genisoimage errors
Hi, I'm not sure we want to continuously give it back until it builds (which it might on schroeder, since it didn't fail there yet)... I would assume the problem is deterministic and depends on the exact tree of file names which is given to genisoimage as input. So adding a few names of empty files here and there might help. But why is that mini.iso produced by genisoimage at all ? debian-7.2.0-sparc-netinst.iso was produced by xorriso. @Thomas: Probably due to historical reasons. Not sure I want to be touching that since I know nothing about architecture/image-specific settings. :/ Debian-cd uses xorriso's compatibility command -as mkisofs. If you have the opportunity to just exchange every occurence of genisoimage by xorriso -as mkisofs or, if a single word is needed, by its symbolic link alias xorrisofs then this might well be worth a try. It should work with xorriso-1.3.2 from sid, and most probably also with 1.2.2 from stable. debian-7.4.0-sparc-netinst.iso was built by xorriso-1.2.6, probably from http://www.gnu.org/software/xorriso/xorriso-1.2.6.tar.gz If you can point me to the code which controls the genisoimage run, then i will inspect it for problematic options. Bug#738567: uses futimens, which is supported only on linux-any

The futimens() is not supported on kfreebsd. Could this be added to the manpage utimensat(2)? I had looked there and assumed that by POSIX1.2008 and that it is in glibc it would be safe to use it as utime replacement… Well, but with old Linux kernels you would have the same issue. Sure, but I don't exactly see the point here. The manpage talks about 2.6.26 which is … not even oldstable. I think glibc requires newer kernels (at least I think I had this problem last year with armel). My point was more that I would have expected the manpage to give at least a passing mention of the non-availability on !linux as they usually do and are (therefore) my primary source for such stuff while being offline… (and the cppcheck message was not helping either). Of course, completely my fault, I just wanted to mention how I ended up on the wrong track so that others aren't able follow my 'lead'. Codesearch is suggesting this, but we really don't care enough for time to add that much of trickery. Anyway, with the recent upload we just switched (back) to utimes and should be done. Sorry for the trouble. Best regards David Kalnischkies signature.asc Description: Digital signature

How about uploading valac 0.22 to sid ASAP without making it the default valac release? This should not break any packages and I can upload an updated valadoc package to sid. I would appreciate it, if valac 0.22 could be uploaded to sid soon, because systemd-ui is RC-buggy due to crashes when building with valac 0.20. (see Bug #731387) I asked for this on the pkg-vala-maintainers list in December [1], but got no response. Bug#738775: insserv: Insserv 1.16 tries to connect to systemd even though system is running on sysv-init

I don't know if there is anything wrong with those initscripts, but insserv dies and update-rc.d does not like that and returns an error which in turn dpkg does not like. Bug#735453: libsbml5-ruby1.8: build-depend on default ruby/comply with Ruby policy
Hello Andreas, That's perfectly OK for me but this means removing *all* ruby binding. You are talking above about two versions. Is there any evidence that you could create a package with newer Ruby version? since we are releasing Jessie only with one Ruby Version, we build sbml against the default Ruby interpreter. This will work, I guess. I will try to work on patches for sbml. Greets, Jonas -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? found 726661 1:6.4p1-2 thanks Hi, Current version on testing is also affected. I hit this bug after upgrading a machine. After rebooting it I was unable to login again. On /var/log/auth.log was the following error: sshd[10480]: error: PAM: pam_open_session(): Cannot make/remove an entry for the specified session The machine is configured with PAM/LDAP. Downgrading openssh-server to the version on stable (1:6.0p1-4) fixed the problem. signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Bug#738909: [apt] Package System Broken, libc6 etc
On Thu, Feb 13, 2014 at 10:49:19PM +0200, David Baron wrote: Will remove everything, libc6 and all if I let it. This is unlikely, like really, so please mention the EXACT command you run and include the COMPLETE output of it. With a oneline summary nobody can help you. You can also attach the file /var/lib/dpkg/status which includes information about all packages you have installed. It will enable others to reproduce your problem more easily (but it exposes the mentioned info, so if you don't want to expose it to the public, you can also sent it to me and I will try what I can) Also, why is this grave if you can still say 'no'? Details please. Following packages are broken: libc-bin, libc6 libc6-dbg, libc6-i686, libc6:amd64 How are they broken? Could dpkg not install them or what? Again details are the key. And why are they broken if you haven't approved the the solution apt proposed. Also, the selection is obscure. Why do you have multiarch enabled on a i386 system? The infos reportbug attached suggest that you use a PAE kernel, so its not for the kernel… Apt-get upgrade tried to install experimental versions and experimental libc6 was installed, not the others. Why do you use experimental if you can't deal with the breakage it could include? I don't think it is a good idea to ever upgrade/dist-upgrade against experimental… Attempt to downgrade will remove most everything as well. Downgrades are not supported and usually not a good idea. Trying to downgrade really important stuff like libc6 will not just not work, but explode bigtime. Best regards David Kalnischkies signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Hideki Yamane wrote: Attached patch would fix this FTBFS, could you check and consider to apply it, please? I notice your patch is based on the experimental version of the package. Afaict (note: i'm not the maintainer of this package) uploading a package based on the experimental version to unstable would be a bad idea without further coordination/planning as it would cause a build-dependency conflict in guile-gnome-platform (I found this out the hard way in raspbian). I have ported the changes to the unstable version of the package and used that in an upload to raspbian. A debdiff of what I uploaded to raspbian is attatched, I have no intent to NMU this in debian as I have no clue what the package does or how to test it. diff -Nru g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/changelog g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/changelog --- g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/changelog 2012-12-06 12:28:47.0 + +++ g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/changelog 2014-02-14 02:01:44.0 + @@ -1,3 +1,24 @@ +g-wrap (1.9.14-2+rpi2) jessie-staging; urgency=low + + [Hideki Yamane] + * debian/rules +- automatically use aclocal/autoconf/automake version (Closes: #713203) +- include autoreconf.mk + * debian/control +- add Build-Depends: dh-autoreconf to use above autoreconf.mk + * debian/patches +- add delete_aclocal_flags.patch to avoid define loop in Makefile.am + + [Peter Michael Green] + * Adjust changes so they apply to the Unstable version of package +rather than the experimental version. + * Use a version number of 1.9.14-2+rpi2 (rather than the more logical +1.9.14-1.1+rpi1) for Raspbian upload because I previously uploaded +A version based on the experimental package to raspbian without +realising that doing so was a bad idea. + + -- Peter Michael Green plugw...@raspbian.org Fri, 14 Feb 2014 01:53:05 + + g-wrap (1.9.14-1.1) unstable; urgency=low * Non-maintainer upload. diff -Nru g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/control g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/control --- g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/control2012-12-06 12:28:47.0 + +++ g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/control2014-02-14 01:58:20.0 + @@ -6,7 +6,7 @@ Vcs-Git: git://git.debian.org/git/collab-maint/g-wrap.git Vcs-Browser: http://git.debian.org/?p=collab-maint/g-wrap.git Standards-Version: 3.9.3 -Build-Depends: debhelper ( 8), cdbs, texinfo, automake, autoconf, +Build-Depends: debhelper ( 8), cdbs, texinfo, automake, autoconf, dh-autoreconf, guile-1.8-dev (= 1.8.3+1), guile-library (= 0.1.1), libglib2.0-dev, libffi-dev Package: g-wrap diff -Nru g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/patches/delete_aclocal_flags.patch g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/patches/delete_aclocal_flags.patch --- g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/patches/delete_aclocal_flags.patch 1970-01-01 00:00:00.0 + +++ g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/patches/delete_aclocal_flags.patch 2014-02-14 01:52:25.0 + @@ -0,0 +1,14 @@ +Description: short summary of the patch +Author: Hideki Yamane henr...@debian.org +Forwarded: no +Last-Update: 2013-10-22 + +--- g-wrap-1.9.14.orig/Makefile.am g-wrap-1.9.14/Makefile.am +@@ -16,5 +16,5 @@ EXTRA_DIST = g-wrap.scm \ +$(wildcard $(srcdir)/m4/*.m4) \ +$(wildcard $(srcdir)/m4/*.m4-in) + +-ACLOCAL_AMFLAGS = -I m4 @ACLOCAL_FLAGS@ ++ACLOCAL_AMFLAGS = -I m4 + diff -Nru g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/patches/series g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/patches/series --- g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/patches/series 2012-12-06 12:28:47.0 + +++ g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/patches/series 2014-02-14 01:52:25.0 + @@ -1 +1,2 @@ 0001-Use-GUILE-instead-of-hardcoding-guile-binary-name.patch +delete_aclocal_flags.patch diff -Nru g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/rules g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/rules --- g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/rules 2012-12-06 12:28:47.0 + +++ g-wrap-1.9.14/debian/rules 2014-02-14 01:57:07.0 + @@ -4,13 +4,14 @@ include /usr/share/cdbs/1/rules/debhelper.mk include /usr/share/cdbs/1/class/autotools.mk +include /usr/share/cdbs/1/rules/autoreconf.mk DEB_CONFIGURE_EXTRA_FLAGS := --disable-Werror GUILE=/usr/bin/guile-1.8 DEB_DH_INSTALL_ARGS := --sourcedir=$(DEB_DESTDIR) -DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_AUTOMAKE = 1.11 -DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_ACLOCAL = 1.11 -DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_AUTOCONF = 2.69 +DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_ACLOCAL = $(shell dpkg -s automake | perl -nle '/^Version: (?:\d:)?(\d+\.\d+)?/ and print $$1') +DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_AUTOCONF = $(shell dpkg -s autoconf | perl -nle '/^Version: (?:\d:)?(\d+\.\d+)?/ and print $$1') +DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_AUTOMAKE = $(shell dpkg -s automake | perl -nle '/^Version: (?:\d:)?(\d+\.\d+)?/ and print $$1') DEB_MAKE_CHECK_TARGET = check

If you don't mind I'd like to do NMU with these changes. -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.3 APT prefers proposed-updates APT policy: (500, 'proposed-updates'), (500, 'stable'), (100, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash diff -Nru ngspice-24/debian/changelog ngspice-24/debian/changelog --- ngspice-24/debian/changelog 2012-06-17 11:45:11.0 +0400 +++ ngspice-24/debian/changelog 2014-02-01 12:24:38.0 +0400 @@ -1,3 +1,12 @@ +ngspice (24-1.1) unstable; urgency=low + + * Non-maintainer upload. + * Link to libBLT explicitly because otherwise libspice.so can't be loaded +into wish with undefined symbol Blt_GetVector. + * Replace obsolete dependencies on Tcl/Tk 8.4 by Tcl/Tk 8.5. + + -- Sergei Golovan sgolo...@debian.org Sat, 01 Feb 2014 12:24:21 +0400 + ngspice (24-1) unstable; urgency=low * New upstream release diff -Nru ngspice-24/debian/control ngspice-24/debian/control --- ngspice-24/debian/control 2012-06-17 11:45:11.0 +0400 +++ ngspice-24/debian/control 2014-01-31 11:23:48.0 +0400 @@ -6,7 +6,7 @@ Andreas Tille ti...@debian.org Build-Depends: debhelper (= 8), automake, libtool, libxaw7-dev, flex, bison, gfortran, libedit-dev, libncurses5-dev, - texinfo, tcl8.4-dev, tcl8.4, tk8.4-dev, tk8.4, blt-dev + texinfo, tcl8.5-dev, tcl8.5, tk8.5-dev, tk8.5, blt-dev Build-Depends-Indep: lyx, elyxer, texlive, texlive-latex-extra, texlive-lang-greek, texlive-generic-recommended, imagemagick Standards-Version: 3.9.3 @@ -29,7 +29,7 @@ Package: tclspice Architecture: any -Depends: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}, ngspice, blt, tcl8.4, tk8.4 +Depends: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}, ngspice, blt, tcl8.5, tk8.5 Replaces: tclspice-dev Breaks: tclspice-dev Description: NGspice library for Tcl diff -Nru ngspice-24/debian/patches/02_fix_tcl_examples.patch ngspice-24/debian/patches/02_fix_tcl_examples.patch --- ngspice-24/debian/patches/02_fix_tcl_examples.patch 2012-05-18 12:20:45.0 +0400 +++ ngspice-24/debian/patches/02_fix_tcl_examples.patch 2014-01-31 11:29:19.0 +0400 @@ -1,14 +1,12 @@ Change wish to wish8.4, other wish shells don't work. Bug#735898: pavucontrol segmentation fault
Hi, I patched the source, rebuilt the package and upgraded, but I still get segmentation fault. By creating a new user account, I'm able to open pavucontrol from that account, but only until I log out and in again. Then it's back to segmentation fault. So it seems like the problem is related to a setting in some other program (gconf? dconf? gstreamer? jack?). -- John.
