Bug#731704: patch

 https://github.com/ocaml/opam-repository/blob/master/packages/reins/reins.0.1a/files/fix_build.patch

Thanks for the pointer. I'll import the relevant parts to Debian.

Please note that patch was updated recently to install reins.cmi, without it
 the library was effectively unusable.

reins.cmi is already installed by the Debian package [1]. Apparently,
the patch doing that has been present since 2009 in Debian [2].

libwine-dev-unstable.

This was for Mono. I think the descendant of this has wound up in
 debian/detector/binfmt-detector-cli.c in the Debian mono source package;
looking at that it should be fairly straightforward to invert (or

I would also recommend to not make the program slower by design, unless you
want public researchers to buy more computers with your tax money.

This is not the case. The default optimisation is done for architectures
capable to build currently. It is only decreased for those that don't.

Kind regards

Bug#740345: [Pkg-systemd-maintainers] Bug#740345: systemd: configuration/arch-any files under /usr/lib/

Am 28.02.2014 13:03, schrieb Axel Beckert:
 Package: systemd

 Justification: Policy 9.1.1 / FHS

systemd demands that plain-text default configuration files (according
to tmpfiles.d(5)) for temporary directories are placed under
/usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/ and places at least one file there itself.

This violates FHS as architecture independent files must not go under
 /usr/lib/ but under /usr/share/ instead.

See the discussion in

Tollef, Michael S., we should consider seconding Joeyh's proposal to get

Hi,

netsniff-ng has a build-dependency on libnl-dev [1].
libnl-1.x is no longer actively developed [2] and has been superseded
by libnl-3.x [3].
Please port netsniff-ng to this new version resp. notify upstream to get
netsniff-ng updated.
One of the major changes in v3 is that the library was split into
several smaller libraries. You can find a developer' guide and
API documentation for each library at [2].

Michael

I use the Debian default configuration, so I think it's chrooted.

However, also /usr/lib/sasl2/ is empty.

Ciao

Bug#741324: rpm regulary creates directory /~

Package: rpm

rpm did create /.rpmdb before and now it does much more annoyingly
create /~/.rpmdb.

For the fact that rpm is an absolute useless package on debian systems
and only exists for the dependencies of alien that is a dependency of
lsb-core, this bug is really annoying and shold be solved.

Tollef, Michael S., we should consider seconding Joeyh's proposal to get

Thanks for pointing out that bug. I agree with the proposal. How do we
officially second this? Is seconding how policy changes work?

Bug#740345: [Pkg-systemd-maintainers] Bug#740345: systemd: configuration/arch-any files under /usr/lib/

Hi,

Michael Biebl wrote:
systemd demands that plain-text default configuration files (according
to tmpfiles.d(5)) for temporary directories are placed under
/usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/ and places at least one file there itself.

This violates FHS as architecture independent files must not go under
  /usr/lib/ but under /usr/share/ instead.

 See the discussion in
 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=741304

Thanks.

Michael Stapelberg and me recently discussed that at the Debian Zurich
meetup and there I more or less suggested to write a bug-report
against the policy.

I'm glad that there is now a solution which seems fine for all.

This affects cups-filters in stable too, I'll prepare an updated

It also affects the cups-filters as released in src:cups as

Bug#741342: /usr/sbin/update-grub: update-grub writes root=UUID= to grub.cfg for LVM2, renders machine unbootable

2014-03-11 Thread Modestas Vainius
Package: grub2-common
Version: 2.02~beta2-7
Severity: critical
File: /usr/sbin/update-grub
Justification: breaks the whole system

Hello,

update-grub writes root=UUID=xx for LVM2 volumes to kernel command line.
This renders the system unbootable since it is not supported as far as I can
tell.
Hence, if I replace root=UUID=af89a290-9c6f-4039-8d5c-95aa75654776 with
root=/dev/mapper/mdxinventi-root, the system boots fine.

P.S. It appears that 2.02~beta2-7 has been uploaded to unstable even if
the changelog indicates that it was targeted to experimental.

Bug#559783: Upping the severity

2014-03-11 Thread Dmitry E. Oboukhov
Increasing the severity since this prevents new uploads as it fails
 the embedded library check.

Hi, Eric!

cve-2009-3720 has closed long ago.
also upstream is dead (only security problems are fixed).

Do You have any other (not cve-2009-3720) causes to keep severity
serious?

Source: mysql-5.6
Version: 5.6.15-1~exp1
Severity: serious

With the upload of mysql-5.6, you bumped the client lib package name
from 18 to 18.1 and stopped shipping the .so.18 symlink, however this
is completely wrong.

The library SONAME is libmysqlclient.so.18, as it was in 5.5, the fact
that the version bumped from 5.5 to 5.6 is irrelevant.

This should still be libmysqlclient18, and should still ship the link.

Any attempt at making this co-installable with the mysql-5.5 version
of the library will ultimately fail, as they're the same SONAME, and
ldconfig will only generate a link to one, and ld.so will only be
able to resolve one. Please undo the package rename madness. Thanks.

... Adam

Package: python-migrate
Version: 0.8.2-4
Severity: serious

Dear Maintainer,

the python-sqlalchemy package was updated to 0.9.3-1 in sid.
python-migrate has a dependency to python-sqlalchemy 0.9 which
cannot be fullfilled now. So python-migrate is not installable.

thx

Regards

Noël

Hi,

FYI, the latest upload fixed the problem. It includes all commits from
upstream version 0.9 of SQLAlchemy-migrate (because I uploaded before it
was released). At this point in time, there's no reason why I would
upload any new -migrate package, as the current one does the job. I will
as soon as there's something newer upstream.

Is there any reason to specify Build-Depends: automake ( 1:1.12)?
I can build this package without it. Patch attached.

Thanks but please modify debian/control.m4 and debian/rules.conf, not
debian/control, which is generated.

I cannot answer your question myself because these build-dependencies
are

from the GCC sources. doko, can you shed some light on this?

Bug#735453: libsbml5-ruby1.8: build-depend on default ruby/comply with Ruby policy

2014-03-11 Thread Jonas Genannt
Hello Andreas,

Perhaps you could simply verify if there is even Ruby 2.0 support and
we simply need to upgrade? Just make sure you will not waste your
time on old code. Feel free to commit directly to Debian Med SVN
(any DD can do so) if this seems to be more simple.

sorry for the late answer, I had a look at the new upstream version.
seems to be not better.

I suggest you to remove the ruby bindings since it has a popcon of 0, I
don't want to spend more time for that.

Greets,
Jonas

I don't know. It was just a guess. It's the only think that I could
think of if #{HOME} means to use the variable HOME and ENV is a link to
the environment. And yes, the nightly cron job that updates apt.

But it could also be that there is a hidden place in the code too where
you don't use the variable.

Sorry, that I do not know what exactly was leading to this. And as I
already deleted the .cache in / I cannot see anymore when it was
created. But I will have surely an eye on it.

Couldn't you crosscheck in the script if $HOME is proper set and issue a
log error in case it is not and stop further proceeding?

Bug#741353: Missing dependency on avahi-daemon

Package: cups-browsed
Version: 1.0.47-1
Severity: serious

The latest update of cups-browsed changed the Depends on avahi-daemon to
Recommends.
The LSB/SysV init script though has Required-Start: ... avahi-daemon

That means, the package will fail to install if avahi-daemon is not
present (thus the RC severity) as insserv will abort with an error.

Either this should be bumped again to Depends or Required-Start should
be demoted to Should-Start.

Bug#735453: New upstream of libsmbl

2014-03-11 Thread Ivo Maintz
Hi Andreas,

I was more or less absent for 2 weeks, but now I pushed some changes to
svn.
I added a branch for my libsbml5 staff, I removed ruby bindings and
fixed other build problems;
debian/patches/doxygen.patch fixes simply a wrong filename, while
debian/bin/python_fix.sh is an very ugly hack for proper building the
python bindings - works for me.

Kind regards,

Ivo

Bug#741353: Missing dependency on avahi-daemon

Control: tags -1 +pending

Le mardi, 11 mars 2014, 16.57:23 Michael Biebl a écrit :
The latest update of cups-browsed changed the Depends on avahi-daemon
 to Recommends.
 The LSB/SysV init script though has Required-Start: ... avahi-daemon

That means, the package will fail to install if avahi-daemon is not
present (thus the RC severity) as insserv will abort with an error.

Indeed, thanks for the bug!

Either this should be bumped again to Depends or Required-Start should
 be demoted to Should-Start.

I'll go for the latter, thanks.

Cheers,

It also affects the cups-filters as released in src:cups as

I would suggest option (1) i.e replace the file with its source(s).

I see. I'll try to replace sylvester.js by it source(s).

For the version 2.2.2 package I intend to create a patch and remove
  json/sylvester.js from the source.

I suggest to remove whole folder json -- as I say before, it give just a
sample, and isn't used by other parts of MathGL.

I will try the least intervention possible in the source tarball in order to
close the RC bug.

Thanks

Bug#741342: /usr/sbin/update-grub: update-grub writes root=UUID= to grub.cfg for LVM2, renders machine unbootable

On Tue, 11 Mar 2014 14:43:53 +0200, Modestas Vainius wrote:

This renders the system unbootable since it is not supported as far as I can
 tell.

Confirmed (not the unbootable part, since I found this bug report
before :))

Hence, if I replace root=UUID=af89a290-9c6f-4039-8d5c-95aa75654776 with
 root=/dev/mapper/mdxinventi-root, the system boots fine.

Updating /etc/default/grub helped for me:

# Uncomment if you don't want GRUB to pass root=UUID=xxx parameter to Linux
GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID=true

(and re-running update-grub2)

Cheers,
gregor

Bug#729658: DoS when telneting to the remote port

You mentioned that the current version in sid is not affected. Could you
run a git bisect to find the fix for this issue? That would be greatly
appreciated. I'm currently evaluating whether to do a stable upload or
not. But for this I'd need a targetted patch.

Since this make rsyslog-gssapi insecure on any public network I've
 flagged it as critical/security.

Even though I agree that a DoS is bad, I'm downgrading the severity to
non-RC, since the default configuration of rsyslog doesn't ship with
gssapi enabled.
That said, I've CCed the security team, as I'd like their input on this.
If they consider this RC, then I'm fine with raising the severity again.
I'd also be interested if the security team considers this issue
important enough for an rsyslog/stable upload (sid/testing is not
affected). rsyslog-gssapi is not widely used [0]

Bug#741342: /usr/sbin/update-grub: update-grub writes root=UUID= to grub.cfg for LVM2, renders machine unbootable

2014-03-11 Thread Stefan Lippers-Hollmann
Hi

While using UUIDs for lvm2 logical volumes works within grub2 itself,
it does blow up in the initramfs integration hooks of lvm2:

http://anonscm.debian.org/viewvc/pkg-lvm/lvm2/trunk/debian/initramfs-tools/lvm2/scripts/local-top/lvm2?view=markup

[line 40ff]
# Make sure that we have a d-m path
dev=${dev#/dev/mapper/}
if [ $dev = $1 ]; then
return 1
fi

so without a root=/dev/mapper/[...] definition for the rootfs, the
default provider of linux-initramfs-tool in Debian never even tries
to assemble the volume groups that make up the rootfs. Out of curiosity
I rigged that particular regexp to be always false, but lvm2 didn't
manage to find a rootfs on a logical volume then either (complaining
that UUIDs were not valid for logical volumes).

Accordingly there would be several changes and versioned dependencies
(Breaks) needed to the lvm2 initramfs-tools hooks, before using
anything but /dev/mapper/... rootfs definitions might be viable for
grub2.

Regards
Stefan Lippers-Hollmann

Bug#741377: grub-pc: The new grub package 2.02~beta2-7 makes the PC unbootable

2014-03-11 Thread Singer Michael
Package: grub-pc
Version: 2.00-22
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Dear Maintainer,
After today dist-upgrade, in which the new GRUB package (2:02 ~ beta2-7) was
recorded, no longer booted my PC.
It seemed not even the normal Grub screen, but I ended up in rescue mode. The
following error message reported GRUB:

error: symbol 'grub_isprint' not found

This condition also was no longer a Einspieln a restore from the previous day
fix (containing de GRUB version 2.00-22), which also contained a write-back of
the MBR by dd. I could only solve by reinstalling the system with repeated
recording of the backup from the day before the problem. Then the system with
the GRUB version 2.00-22 was again bootable.

Why does GRUB version 2.02 ~ beta2-7 such a critical error? What can be done so
as not to encounter this critical error occurs?

Regards
Michael Singer

I don't think this can possibly be hgview's fault.

Bug#702005: libpython2.7: Upgrade to libpython2.7 2.7.3-7 fails, breaking python entirely

2014-03-11 Thread Jakub Wilk

Control: found -1 2.7.3-6

According to python2.7-minimal's README.Debian, the _ssl and _hashlib
are supposed to be included in the -minimal package.
python2.7-minimal_2.7.3-6_amd64.deb indeed includes them both, but on
every other architecture they are shipped in python2.7.

Worse, if you rebuild wheezy's src:python2.7 in a clean environment, the
modules move to python2.7, likely leading to upgrade problem similar to
that reported a while ago:

* Vincent Lefevre vinc...@vinc17.net, 2013-03-01, 17:00:

Unpacking replacement python2.7 ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/python2.7_2.7.3-7_amd64.deb
(--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/python2.7/lib-dynload/_hashlib.so', which is also
in package python2.7-minimal 2.7.3-6
dpkg-deb: error: subprocess paste was killed by signal (Broken pipe)

I believe the bug lies in the following part of debian/rules:

DH_COMPAT=2 dh_movefiles -p$(p_min) --sourcedir=$(d) \
usr/bin/python$(VER) \
usr/share/man/man1/python$(VER).1 \
$(foreach i,$(MIN_MODS),$(scriptdir)/$(i).py) \
$(foreach i,$(MIN_PACKAGES),$(scriptdir)/$(i)) \
$(foreach i,$(MIN_ENCODINGS),$(scriptdir)/$(i)) \
$(scriptdir)/config/Makefile \
usr/include/$(PVER)/pyconfig.h \
$(scriptdir)/site.py \
$(shell cd $(d); for i in $(MIN_EXTS); do \
test -e $(scriptdir)/lib-dynload/$$i.so \
   echo $(scriptdir)/lib-dynload/$$i.so; \
  done; true)

The culprit appears to be that make expands $(shell ... ) too early,
when no *.so files exist yet.

Replacing $(shell ... ) with $$( ... ), and then adding appropriate
Breaks+Replaces should fix this bug. (I haven't tested the proposed fix
in practice yet.)

It still don't understand why this bug didn't trigger for the amd64
package. Perhaps the build log could shed some light on it.

Hello,

is there any change to get this package back into shape?

Upstream seems dead long ago, perhaps remove it from debian archive?

Thanks,

Bug#741393: cigi-ccl: FTBFS on 32-bit platforms: symbols not quite as expected

2014-03-11 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Source: cigi-ccl
Version: 3.3.3a+svn818-2
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source

Builds of cigi-ccl for 32-bit architectures such as i386 have been
failing with dh_makeshlibs errors because some signatures wind up
varying slightly between 32-bit and 64-bit builds, leading to
different mangled names. See, for instance,

https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=cigi-cclarch=i386ver=3.3.3a%2Bsvn818-2stamp=1394543859

Could you please account for these differences?

Bug#740995: [gimp-plugin-registry]

2014-03-11 Thread Paolo Scarabelli
Package: gimp-plugin-registry
Version: 5.20120621

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Dear Package Maintainer,

I see gimp-plugin-registry has been removed from testing, should we expect
a new version compiled with libglew1.10 or it will just be dropped from
Debian?

Thanks,

Paolo

Daniel Bolton: I installed gimp-plugin-registry when libglew1.7 (1.7.0-3)
was still available in testing and the filters work fine. libglew1.7 does
not seem to interfere with libglew1.10.

Bug#741324: rpm regulary creates directory /~

2014-03-11 Thread Mike Miller

Confirmed here as well with the default configuration when rpm runs as
root with HOME undefined. This is due to the change in 4.11.2-1 that
attempted to fix the problem with /.rpmdb, but apparently ~ as a
fallback is not doing what it was meant to do.

You might also be interested in #741399 I just reported, based on
findings from Ubuntu bug #1069350, requesting dkms to avoid calling rpm
which should prevent creation of these directories. This interaction
between dkms and rpm appears to be the primary cause. Do you have dkms
built kernel modules on your system?
