 Hi,

Since your new package version fixes the FTBFS, and it's important to
quickly fix that, I have uploaded it. However, in your debian/rules,
there's still something to fix. You should use set -e on each of your
 for statements. For example:

set -e for py in $(shell py3versions -vr); do \
 [ ... content of your loop ... ]

Note that this is a *must* imposed by the Debian policy. Please fix
this, and reupload to mentors, then I'll sponsor your package once more.

Bug#744833: libfl-dev and flex-old: error when trying to install together

2014-04-15 Thread Ralf Treinen
Package: flex-old,libfl-dev
Version: flex-old/2.5.4a-10
Version: libfl-dev/2.5.39-1
Severity: serious
User: trei...@debian.org

Date: 2014-04-15
Architecture: amd64

Hi,

automatic installation tests of packages that share a file and at the
same time do not conflict by their package dependency relationships has
detected the following problem:

Selecting previously unselected package libfl-dev:amd64.
(Reading database ... 10937 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to unpack .../libfl-dev_2.5.39-1_amd64.deb ...

Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/flex-old_2.5.4a-10_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  /usr/include/FlexLexer.h

This bug has been filed against both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may then
also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug.

-Ralf.

of this kind see http://edos.debian.net/file-overwrites/.

Current librbd1/librbd-dev in unstable does not include symvers/libvers
mechanism but includes changes in symbols so that current version in
testing (0.43-1) does not work for binaries built against current version
in wheezy (0.47.2-1). When such binary (kvm in this case) is run it
produces the following:

kvm: symbol lookup error: kvm: undefined symbol: rbd_aio_discard

I strongly suggest to add/use symvers mechanism.

Bug#744814: Changed plugin path breaks NM integration

2014-04-15 Thread Michael Biebl
Hi Chris,

On 14/04/14 22:32, Michael Biebl wrote:
ppp 2.4.6 has changed its plugin path to /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.6.

There are a few packages which install plugins into /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.5:

 network-manager: /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.5/nm-pppd-plugin.so
 network-manager-pptp: /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.5/nm-pptp-pppd-plugin.so
 pppdcapiplugin: /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.5/capiplugin.so
 pppdcapiplugin: /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.5/userpass.so

network-manager-pptp (and pppdcapiplugin) has a versioned depends on
 ppp (= 2.4.5) ppp ( 2.4.6).

I've updated network-manager-pptp in the mean time. You should probably
poke the pppdcapiplugin/isdnutils maintainer. I'm not sure if filing a
bug will be sufficient, since the package looks pretty much
unmaintained, so you might have to NMU isdnutils.

Unfortunately, since network-manager only has a recommends on ppp, it
can't ensure such a strict versioned dependency.

 Please consider adding a Breaks: network-manager ( 0.9.8.8-7).

 I'll update NM accordingly.

I've uploaded an updated network-manager 0.9.8.8-7 to DELAYED/4 as I
want to let -6 migrate to testing first.

Thanks for the report. I should have been more aware that bumping the
version would cause this breakage. I'm marking this bug as serious to
prevent migration of ppp to testing for the time being.

I will of course add a Breaks to my next upload as you suggest. This
 will likely be later today.

Thanks

Michael

Actually, yes. This is expected. If you don't have a consumer on
/dev/xconsole (which I assume you don't have), the pipe will run full
eventually and rsyslog will suspend trying to write to the pipe. It does
retry after a while though.

What was fixed was the incorrect way to detect failures when writing to
the pipe. So rsyslog continuously retried without actually suspending
properly.

If you want to suppress those log messages completely, you can set
action.reportSuspension [0] to off. Either globally or per output.

Does that sufficiently answer your question?

 Hello Tim,

genus2reduction is obsolete. The functionnality has been absorbed by the
libpari library in version 2.7, specifically the function genus2reduction.
Thus there is no point to upgrade the package to build with pari 2.7.

Woould anybody object if I asked for the removal of this package ?
As far as I can see it is not maintained, buggy, and quite useless now
that gp includes the functionnality (without the bugs).

(09:29:43) nacin: broucaries: I see, so this concern is simply that we
didn't commit the raw TinyMCE source to wordpress-sources?
(09:30:28) nacin: consider it an oversight. sorry, but debian is
literally the only people in the world who care about this mundane
stuff, so we never notice until we hear from one of you.
(09:30:29) broucaries: nacin: Yes you do not commit the source that
you used (I do not know if you have made modification)
(09:31:09) broucaries: nacin: we have now automatic checker of this
kind of problem
(09:31:30) nacin: actually, that's not accurate. this is TinyMCE's
official released version, not something we built
(09:31:35) MZAWeb a quitté le salon (quit: Ping timeout: 258 seconds)
(09:31:51) hanni est désormais connu sous le nom de hanni|offline
(09:32:46) broucaries: nacin: it will be useful to add this to the
doc. We could thus replace it by our packaged version
(09:33:08) nacin: http://download.moxiecode.com/tinymce/tinymce_3.5.8.zip
(09:33:33) nacin: broucaries: we do not support debian's replacement
of our 3rd party libraries. it is a waste of our time and has resulted
in countless problems in the past for people who use debian's build.
(09:33:49) nacin: a number of us are of the opinion that it would be
easier if debian just did not include WordPress.
(09:34:49) broucaries: nacin: As you like about debian, but the
license problem is universal
(09:35:01) nacin: I agree but it's not a license violation.
(09:36:15) broucaries: nacin: LGPL 2.1 section 6 c is quite clear and
you do not offer the prefered form of modification. For you what is it
?
(09:37:32) nacin: so if I check in a URL to TinyMCE's GitHub repo,
this is no longer a problem?

As far as I can see it is not maintained, buggy, and quite useless now
that gp includes the functionnality (without the bugs).

Bug#742113: rsyslog: still seeing some odd action 17 suspend/resume messages

Alright. Got it.

What was fixed was the incorrect way to detect failures when writing
to the pipe. So rsyslog continuously retried without actually
 suspending properly.

I see.

If you want to suppress those log messages completely, you can set
action.reportSuspension [0] to off. Either globally or per output.

Does that sufficiently answer your question?

Yes. Thanks.

Sure, if you never use xconsole, that works as well.
I was actually considering shipping with that commented out per default.
Just wasn't sure if this breaks existing setups / expectations from
certain users since as far as I can remember this snippet has always
been in there.

Regarding this bug report, are you ok if we close it?

  Wouldn't it? As I know I don't have a consumer on /dev/xconsole.
  Would you agree?

Sure, if you never use xconsole, that works as well.
I was actually considering shipping with that commented out per default.

That'd be a good idea.

Just wasn't sure if this breaks existing setups / expectations from
certain users since as far as I can remember this snippet has always
 been in there.

Yes, but /etc/rsyslog.conf is a conf-file. A package upgrade will
signal that there are differences. The admin will be able to examine
and make a decision.

Regarding this bug report, are you ok if we close it?

Yes. It's ok to close this.

Package: llvm-dev
Version: 1:3.3-21
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

an upgrade test with piuparts revealed that your package installs files
over existing symlinks and possibly overwrites files owned by other
packages. This usually means an old version of the package shipped a
symlink but that was later replaced by a real (and non-empty)
directory. This kind of overwriting another package's files cannot be
detected by dpkg.

This was observed on the following upgrade paths:

  wheezy - jessie

For /usr/share/doc/PACKAGE this may not be problematic as long as both
packages are installed, ship byte-for-byte identical files and are
upgraded in lockstep. But once one of the involved packages gets
removed, the other one will lose its documentation files, too,
including the copyright file, which is a violation of Policy 12.5:
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s-copyrightfile

For other overwritten locations anything interesting may happen.

Note that dpkg intentionally does not replace directories with symlinks
and vice versa, you need the maintainer scripts to do this.
See in particular the end of point 4 in
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-unpackphase

It is recommended to use the dpkg-maintscript-helper commands
'dir_to_symlink' and 'symlink_to_dir' (available since dpkg 1.17.2)
to perform the conversion, ideally using d/$PACKAGE.mainstscript.
See dpkg-maintscript-helper(1) and dh_installdeb(1) for details.

From the attached log (usually somewhere in the middle...):

0m54.5s ERROR: FAIL: silently overwrites files via directory symlinks:
  /usr/share/doc/llvm-dev/changelog.Debian.gz (llvm-dev) !=
/usr/share/doc/llvm-runtime/changelog.Debian.gz (llvm-runtime)
  /usr/share/doc/llvm-dev/copyright (llvm-dev) !=
/usr/share/doc/llvm-runtime/copyright (llvm-runtime)

cheers,

Andreas

Hello,

On 14/04/2014 21:40, Ben Longbons wrote:

 Dear Maintainer,

clang 3.4 can't use libstdc++ 4.9's headers, due to changes in
 bits/c++config.h
Thanks for the bug report.
For now, it is just normal severity:
* we are still using gcc 4.8 as default
* gcc 4.9 has not (yet) been released.

Cheers,
Sylvestre

Bug#742016: user-mode-linux: build-depends on linux-source-3.12 which is no longer in the archive

2014-04-15 Thread Jakub Wilk

Control: tags -1 + patch

* Mattia Dongili malat...@linux.it, 2014-04-15, 07:19:
Updating the user-mode-linux package is just a matter of setting the
correct version in debian/{rules,control}, updating the kernel
configuration (there are debian/rules targets to help with that -
oldconfig{32,64} - policy is M for everything) and building the
package. If there are no major issues, this is it.

I've attached what I have so far.

I answered no for a couple of Y/N questions; hope this is okay. I also
had to disable CONFIG_PHY_EXYNOS_MIPI_VIDEO, because otherwise the build
fails with:

 MODPOST 744 modules
ERROR: devm_ioremap_resource [drivers/phy/phy-exynos-mipi-video.ko] undefined!

But CONFIG_PHY_EXYNOS_MIPI_VIDEO is not enabled in the stock Debian
kernels either, so it's not a big loss.

The package builds successfully and seems to work on i386. I'll test on
amd64 later.

Bug#744877: passwd: master fails to build

2014-04-15 Thread Philippe Grégoire
Package: passwd
Version: 1:4.2-1
Severity: grave

Hi,

Recently, subuid/subgid support was added to passwd through a serie of patches.
In commit, 68fb7a, those patches were later merged to form the userns patch
present in HEAD. However, the package cannot be built due to an incorrect patch
to src/useradd.c -- an #endif is removed.

Attached is a patch to correct the patch :)

Also, on my quest to acquire the updated package, I noticed a couple of issues
with the project's FusionForge page:

- SCM points to an empty repository (pkg-shadow.git, cloneable);
- The actual repo is shadow.git (not mentionned, not cloneable);

I had to download a tarball of master to play with the package. Maybe it is on
purpose -- hiding the fire from kids?

And... I couldn't say all this without sincere thanks to the whole project,

Philippe

Bug#744751: perl -i ignores errors (!)

2014-04-15 Thread Niko Tyni

 mariner:~/junk

I appreciate that fixing this is likely to break things which were
relying on the fault-oblivious[1] approach but overall I think it's
 necessary.

It's not -i that's ignoring errors here, it's -p. The behaviour
triggered by -i isn't reached at all in your example.

A few reduced versions that behave the same way would be

 perl -pe 1 nonexistent
 perl -ne 1 nonexistent
 perl -e '' nonexistent

The first two cases are documented in perlrun(1) for -p and -n:
If a file named by an argument cannot be opened for some reason, Perl
warns you about it, and moves on to the next file.

Here's a case where perl -i is really 'ignoring' errors:
 % perl -pi.bak -e1 /etc/passwd
Can't rename /etc/passwd to /etc/passwd.bak: Permission denied, skipping file.
 % echo $?
 0

or, omitting the -p option as above,
 % perl -i.bak -e '' /etc/passwd
Can't rename /etc/passwd to /etc/passwd.bak: Permission denied, skipping file
at -e line 1.
 % echo $
 0

The relevant passage in perlrun(1) for -i:
If, for a given file, Perl is unable to create the backup file as
specified in the extension then it will skip that file and continue on
with the next one (if it exists).

I note that these documentation parts don't cover the exit code,
although the 'warns you' wording for -p and -n IMO implies no change to
the exit code.

I can see that it would be useful if an exit code would be propagated
on errors, somewhat like for instance find(1) does. I suppose it
should replace the implicit exit(0) at the end of the program so that
explicit exit() or die() calls and the like in the program would take
precedence.

This seems like it might be a feasible change for the future, but it
needs to be discussed and implemented upstream. Backward compatibility
is a high priority for perl, so it might well get rejected too.

Anyway, I think this is an enhancement request of the 'wishlist' category,
not a grave bug. It all seems to be working as designed.

 Incidentalll, autodie doesn't help:

That's https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=74606.

Package: libnetfilter-queue-dev,libnetfilter-queue1-dbg
Version: 1.0.2-1

Since upgrading to iceweasel 24.3.0esr-1~deb7u1 firebug cannot be
enabled anymore:

* F12 is dead
* Neither the beetle button nor the arrow next to it give a response
* In the Tools menu there is a firebug.Firebug entry, but no submenu
  is behind it.

It also causes breakage in iceweasel itself. The context menu is messed
up, it gives a long list of options¹, and none of them work. Seems like
the menu integration code of firebug has gone awry as well.

The menu is back to normal if firebug is disabled.

All this has been reproduced on two machines (i386, amd64) running
stable, and with an empty $HOME/.mozilla

iceweasel 24 recently hit stable-security (and is therefore expected to enter

Unfortunately the version of xul-ext-sage currently in stable is unusable
with iceweasel 24 (clicking on a link in the left panel does nothing).

Cheers,

Bug#743100: Help with tclx8.4 [was: emacspeak is marked for autoremoval from testing]

2014-04-15 Thread Paul Gevers
Hi Sergei,

On 14-04-14 06:39, Debian testing autoremoval watch wrote:
emacspeak 39.0+dfsg-2 is marked for autoremoval from testing on 2014-05-13

It (build-)depends on packages with these RC bugs:
 743100: tclx8.4: FTBFS: ./generic/tclXgeneral.c:408:10: error: 'Tcl_Interp'
 has no member named 'errorLine'

It seems that tclx8.4 is failing to build now [1] that tcl8.4 is being
removed from Debian. Unfortunately, tclx8.4 doesn't have a maintainer
anymore and I don't have experience at all with tcl. Would you be
willing to have a look at tclx8.4 and see if you can easily spot the
issue and maybe propose a fix. Else, the emacspeak package might become
collateral damage of the tcl8.4 removal.

Bug#744889: [calendarserver] Upgrading to 5.1 does not migrate data when using XML Directory Service Backend

2014-04-15 Thread Rahul Amaram

Package: calendarserver
Severity: grave

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Upgrading to 5.1 does not migrate the data when using XML Directory
Service Backend.

This happens when in earlier versions (2.x, 3.x), you had not mentioned
any guid for xml directories records. Then calendarserver used to
auto-generate the guid. But starting with version 5.x, calendarserver
stopped auto-generating guid and the guid has to be manually entered in
accounts.xml file. So, if you enter a guid, which is different than the
earlier auto-generated guid, then calendarserver won't be able to map to
the migrated user data.

A fix for this will be rolled out pretty soon.

A bit of Googling seems to indicate that this is due to building against
Tcl 8.6:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=902561

As a short-term thing, you can probably get it working by either adding
- -DUSE_INTERP_RESULT to the CPPFLAGS at build time, or patching some
appropriate internal header to include the same define - or possibly by
explicitly build-depending on tcl8.5-dev, though I don't know enough
about Tcl or its packaging to speak to that approach.

In the long term, as the link indicates, the correct fix would involve
modifying the source to avoid using internal fields from Tcl_Interp.
However, that seems like the sort of thing that would be best done by
upstream.

Severity: grave

Dear Maintainer,

calling 'maxima' on my system leads to a segmentation fault:

toto@catweazle:~$ maxima -v
+ '[' gcl = clisp ']'
+ '[' gcl = cmucl ']'
+ '[' gcl = scl ']'
+ '[' gcl = gcl ']'
+ exec /usr/lib/maxima/5.33.0/binary-gcl/maxima -eval '(cl-user::run)' -f -- -v
'' '' '' '' '' '' '' ''
Segmentation fault

Downgrading the maxima packages down to 5.32.1-1 makes 'maxima'
usable again.

Toto

Package: libnfnetlink0-dbg
Version: 1.0.1-2
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

an upgrade test with piuparts revealed that your package installs files
over existing symlinks and possibly overwrites files owned by other
packages. This usually means an old version of the package shipped a
symlink but that was later replaced by a real (and non-empty)
directory. This kind of overwriting another package's files cannot be
detected by dpkg.

This was observed on the following upgrade paths:

  wheezy - sid

0m39.4s ERROR: FAIL: silently overwrites files via directory symlinks:
  /usr/share/doc/libnfnetlink0-dbg/changelog.Debian.gz (libnfnetlink0-dbg) !=

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package modifies conffiles.
This is forbidden by the policy, see
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#s-config-files

10.7.3: [...] The easy way to achieve this behavior is to make the
configuration file a conffile. [...] This implies that the default
version will be part of the package distribution, and must not be
modified by the maintainer scripts during installation (or at any
other time).

Note that once a package ships a modified version of that conffile,
dpkg will prompt the user for an action how to handle the upgrade of
this modified conffile (that was not modified by the user).

Further in 10.7.3: [...] must not ask unnecessary questions
(particularly during upgrades) [...]

If a configuration file is customized by a maintainer script after
having asked some debconf questions, it may not be marked as a
conffile. Instead a template could be installed in /usr/share and used
by the postinst script to fill in the custom values and create (or
update) the configuration file (preserving any user modifications!).
This file must be removed during postrm purge.
ucf(1) may help with these tasks.
See also http://wiki.debian.org/DpkgConffileHandling

In https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2012/09/msg00412.html and
followups it has been agreed that these bugs are to be filed with
severity serious.

debsums reports modification of the following files,
from the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

  /etc/default/ferm

Source: dime
Version: 0.20030921-4
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

Thanks for the prompt fix to #728212! Linux and Hurd builds now
succeed, but kFreeBSD builds are still failing, as libtool (presumably
an old version) doesn't know how to build shared libraries there:

  checking dynamic linker characteristics... no
checking if libtool supports shared libraries... no
checking whether to build shared libraries... no

 dh_install -a -O--parallel -O--builddirectory=build
  dh_install: libdime1 missing files (usr/lib/*/libdime.so.1.0.0), aborting
  make: *** [binary-arch] Error 2

Could you please look into this error as well?

Thanks!

Bug#738428: GenBind.evalConstCExpr: Casts are not implemented yet

2014-04-15 Thread John Millikin
The version of libncursesw5-dev packaged in Debian Unstable includes this macro:

#define NCURSES_BITS(mask,shift) (NCURSES_CAST(chtype,(mask))
 ((shift) + NCURSES_ATTR_SHIFT))

which differs from the version on my build machine:

#define NCURSES_BITS(mask,shift) ((mask)  ((shift) +
NCURSES_ATTR_SHIFT))

The new NCURSES_CAST() is breaking c2hs, which added support for
integer casts in version 0.16.6 (unstable has 0.16.5).

My recommendation is to upgrade the c2hs package version to at least
0.16.6. I've verified that cabal install c2hs==0.16.6 lets ncurses
build on unstable.

Bug#743100: Help with tclx8.4 [was: emacspeak is marked for autoremoval from testing]

It (build-)depends on packages with these RC bugs:
 743100: tclx8.4: FTBFS: ./generic/tclXgeneral.c:408:10: error: 'Tcl_Interp'
 has no member named 'errorLine'

It seems that tclx8.4 is failing to build now [1] that tcl8.4 is being
removed from Debian. Unfortunately, tclx8.4 doesn't have a maintainer
anymore and I don't have experience at all with tcl. Would you be
willing to have a look at tclx8.4 and see if you can easily spot the
issue and maybe propose a fix. Else, the emacspeak package might become
collateral damage of the tcl8.4 removal.

I'll prepare an NMU to fix tclx8.4. Thank you for the reminder.

Hi Thorsten,

As much as I know, there's no newer version than v3 published of the GPL
license by the free software foundation. Also, even though there's some
typoes in the debian/copyright file (the first sentence was unfinished),
I don't think this deserves seriousness serious. I have fixed the
issue in the Git, will keep this bug as pending until I need a new
upload, and I am going to downgrade this bug to important. If you think
this is wrong, please explain your view (rather than playing seriousness
pingpong).

Hi Matthias,

thank you for reporting this problem. I didn't get the build output on
my system:

 make[1]: Entering directory `/tmp/buildd/jscommunicator-1.1.1'

 make[1]: *** [override_dh_auto_build] Error 2
 make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/buildd/jscommunicator-1.1.1'

But it's the same result, and I believe the same root cause as 734011.
I'm going to try to iron this out.

Thank you,
tony
