Bug#752991: python3-matplotlib: pylab fails to be imported
Package: python3-matplotlib Version: 1.3.1-1+b2 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Dear Maintainer, When importing pylab then an ImportError is thrown (see below). The pylab import is required by most matplotlib based programs. I would expect the import to succeed without error. Bug#752762: load-module module-alsa-sink freezes display
Jun 26 12:54:57 feivel pulseaudio[3128]: [pulseaudio] module.c: Failed to load module module-alsa-sink (argument: ): initialization failed. Yes, this is expected, because that module needs the card details to Wouldn't it be better than to have the line look like this? #load-module module-alsa-sink card-details load. Is this message shown only once, or repeatedly? Does the log say afterwards: Only once. [pulseaudio] main.c: Module load failed. [pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to initialize daemon. Yes, it did. What DE/WM are you using? Were there sounds being played at the moment? gnome-shell, everything up-to-date sid, no sounds being displayed. This error is weird, because the module load failure should just cause pulseaudio to exit. Perhaps something caused PA to respawn repeatedly? Does it do that if it's, like, killed at the beginning of a session? I tried using this module in an attempt to figure out why my sound doesn't work correctly, or in other words, not at all when using the defaults. For this, try using pavucontrol. There you can see if your card is actually being picked up. I tried that before to no avail as there appeared to be something wrong with pulseaudio in general. Since then I found the problem, a misconfigured default sink in client.conf. I don't remember editing this file at all, but maybe that was an old config from back when. This is a question for the Kernel Team actually (CCd). Kind regards, Andrei (looking after bugs filed against unknown packages) OK, I understood only later that the bug was reported against an unknown package. I suppose that the original submitter did try to install kernel headers some time after installing the kernel package itself. Meantime, I have reassigned to src:linux with the appropriate version in experimental. I have left the severity to grave but it seems a bit excessive since it only affects experimental. ❦ 28 juin 2014 15:02 +0200, maximilian attems m...@stro.at : OK, I understood only later that the bug was reported against an unknown package. I suppose that the original submitter did try to install kernel headers some time after installing the kernel package itself. read ml for why not provided, in any case OOT modules are not recommended. I suppose the answer is in this message: https://lists.debian.org/debian-kernel/2014/06/msg00255.html It doesn't say much why the package is not in experimental while this was the case in the past. It seems that this bug is recurrent so I understand why you are scarce on details. There are several bugs about this, like #573483 and its merged neighbors. So far, none of them seem to tell why the package doesn't exist in experimental. I tried to build it: apt-get source linux-kbuild-3.14 cd linux-tools-3.14 uscan --report (nothing) debian/rules get-orig-source (no such rule) ./debian/bin/genorig.py -V 3.15-1 ~/download/linux-3.15.1.tar.xz Traceback (most recent call last): File ./debian/bin/genorig.py, line 202, in module Main(args, options.override_version)() File ./debian/bin/genorig.py, line 60, in __init__ version = VersionLinux('%s-undef' % override_version) File debian/lib/python/debian_linux/debian.py, line 148, in __init__ raise RuntimeError(uInvalid debian linux version) RuntimeError: Invalid debian linux version (removing this undef on line 60) Untar the tarball, copy debian/ and modify debian/changelog to tell 3.15. One build failure about libudev missing, another one about usbip.h not being here. I suppose I could dig a bit more but I am unsure of what to do from here. I really don't know why usbip is the only stuff still in drivers/ directory. I suppose this is on purpose since there is a patch for that. I also suppose I could patch it to use kernel header instead of uapi one. It doesn't seem so easy to get such a package. While writing this email, I noticed this was documented in this wiki page: https://wiki.debian.org/HowToRebuildAnOfficialDebianKernelPackage#How_to_build_linux-kbuild-2.6_yourself But no clue on the specific problem I get. It would appear the ASN1 default mask was changed from anything to UTF8 only in 1.0.1h; explicitly calling ASN1_STRING_set_default_mask(0xL) stops the racoon test from failing. Bug#753053: missing dependency on python-keybinder
Package: pithos Version: 0.3.17-2 Severity: grave Installing pithos on my notebook running xfce4 resulted in odd errors about gstreamer not finding resources. A quick web search led me to this bug report in launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/pithos/+bug/1007065 Manually installing python-keybinder fixed pithos, it works fine for me now as long as I avoid mp3-hifi (bug #696496). This suggests to me that pithos needs a dependency on python-keybinder or something else that depends on it for it to work ok on systems where that isn't already being pulled in by some GNOME-related stuff? Hello Michael, thanks for reporting this issue! As a matter of fact all of the 3 patches had this same newline problem. I've just fixed it, but it can't be applied because I have to solve some issues with my gpg key. For now it's located at the Git VCS repository[0]. Bug#750270: readahead-fedora: FTBFS: Makefile:533: *** missing separator (did you mean TAB instead of 8 spaces?)
Control: tags -1 + patch I tried to reproduce the problem in sid, and I see it too. The makefile in question contain this fragment, and the typo is in the lines starting with 'dnl': #AM_CFLAGS = -fsigned-char dnl sysconfrcdir = $(sysconfdir)/rc.d/init.d dnl dist_sysconfrc_SCRIPTS = readahead_early readahead_later dnl initdir = $(sysconfdir)/init dnl dist_init_DATA = readahead-collector.conf readahead-disable-services.conf readahead.conf # Tell versions [3.59,3.63) of GNU make to not export all variables. The source of these lines is the scripts/Makefile.am file. I guess automake changed the last few years, and no longer accept m4 comments in the Makefile.am files. The attached patch fixes the issue by changing 'dnl' to '#' in the makefile, thus not depending m4 for commenting out the lines, but instead telling make to ignore them. Should I NMU to fix it, or will you handle it yourself? This bug will cause readahead-fedora to disappear from Jessie in a few days, so it is a bit urgent to fix it. -- Happy hacking Petter Reinholdtsen diff -ur readahead-fedora-1.5.6/debian/patches/debianise.patch readahead-fedora-1.5.6-pere/debian/patches/debianise.patch --- readahead-fedora-1.5.6/debian/patches/debianise.patch 2014-06-28 20:53:41.0 + +++ readahead-fedora-1.5.6-pere/debian/patches/debianise.patch 2014-06-28 20:59:27.717664545 + @@ -264,15 +264,15 @@ -# collect on rpm database change -READAHEAD_COLLECT_ON_RPM=yes -- --# Delay these services for the readahead-collector. --# At least auditd has to be delayed, for the collector --# to run, if it is enabled on the system. --READAHEAD_DELAY_SERVICES=auditd +# enable to run readahead in the background instead of blocking +# useful for SSDs +#RUN_IN_BACKGROUND=yes +-# Delay these services for the readahead-collector. +-# At least auditd has to be delayed, for the collector +-# to run, if it is enabled on the system. +-READAHEAD_DELAY_SERVICES=auditd +- -# Minimum memory the machine has to have (kB) -# to run readahead. -READAHEAD_MIN_MEM=393216 @@ -284,11 +284,13 @@ === --- readahead.orig/scripts/Makefile.am +++ readahead/scripts/Makefile.am -@@ -9,5 +9,5 @@ dist_sysconfcron_SCRIPTS = readahead.cro - sysconfcronmonthlydir = $(sysconfdir)/cron.monthly - dist_sysconfcronmonthly_SCRIPTS = readahead-monthly.cron +@@ -1,7 +1,7 @@ + include $(top_srcdir)/config/include-Makefile.am + +-dnl sysconfrcdir = $(sysconfdir)/rc.d/init.d +-dnl dist_sysconfrc_SCRIPTS = readahead_early readahead_later ++# sysconfrcdir = $(sysconfdir)/rc.d/init.d ++# dist_sysconfrc_SCRIPTS = readahead_early readahead_later --initdir = $(sysconfdir)/init --dist_init_DATA = readahead-collector.conf readahead-disable-services.conf readahead.conf -+dnl initdir = $(sysconfdir)/init -+dnl dist_init_DATA = readahead-collector.conf readahead-disable-services.conf readahead.conf + sysconfcrondir = $(sysconfdir)/cron.daily + dist_sysconfcron_SCRIPTS = readahead.cron

Bug#752926: libminizip-dev and libkml-dev: error when trying to install together
Since the libminizip from libkml is used specifically for its KMZ support, the bet course of action may be to rename the libkml library to libkmlminizip and patch gdal and osgearth accordingly. If the libraries are compatible (they both seem the be extracted from zlib), it may be wisest to drop the libminizip from libkml. They're not compatible. ibkml adds various libkml_ methods directly in their embedded minizip source. That's sort of the wrong way to do it, and it would be nice to get that fixed, but it's unlikely to happen any time soon. The best solution for now is to add appropriate conflicts between the packages. Best wishes, Mike -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. An optimal solution would consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and diversions should only be used when packages provide different implementations for the same functionality. Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages (according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be slightly out of sync): /usr/include/minizip/crypt.h /usr/include/minizip/ioapi.h /usr/include/minizip/mztools.h /usr/include/minizip/unzip.h /usr/include/minizip/zip.h /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libminizip.a /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libminizip.so This bug has been filed against both packages. If you, the maintainers of the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may then also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug. -Ralf.
