Hi,

this package is no longer installable on kfreebsd-* since it depends on
ntfs-3g-udeb; this totally breaks d-i on kfreebsd-* since partman-base
depends on partman-partitioning, and many other components depend on
partman-base.

Hi,

libxkbcommon 0.4.3-1 fails to build on non-Linux architectures,
because of an unconditional linux/input.h include.

I just reported (with a patch) the issue upstream, see [1].

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on EC2 VM instances from
Amazon Web Services, using a clean, minimal and up-to-date chroot. Every
failed build was retried once to eliminate random failures. The build
was done with DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=parallel=4, so if your packaging tries
to support this, it might be a good idea to explore whether this might
be the cause of the failure.

Hi,

I've been using systemd with kwin 4.11 for a while now and haven't been able
to reproduce this issue. Is the issue still reproducible by you? Are you using
a particular display manager that starts your session before starting the
system dbus? I tried the kdm autologin and still couldn't reproduce it.

Hello,

files-pkgconfig has this hardcoded arch in its test tags file:

E: pkgconfig-any: pkg-config-multi-arch-wrong-dir
usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkgconfig/arch-cross.pc full text contains
architecture specific dir ARCH

That means that the test only works when running on amd64 (probably
your development architecture). But this causes build failures on i386
(like [1]), and the same when running them in autopkgtest:

So I suppose the tags file needs to be generated dynamically, or the
matching needs to be done with regexps?

Thanks for considering,

Martin

Package: ejabberd
Version: 2.1.11-1
Severity: grave
Tags: security

When setting up ejabberd with a default configuration it allows only connections
with a weak SSL configuration - if this is even configured:

1. By default ejabberd allows SSLv3 which is broken in various ways
and thus should no longer be used.

2. By default ejabberd uses weak cipher suites that make use of weak primitives
like DES, RC2, RC4, MD5, export ciphers.

3. By default ejabberd does not provide ANY ciphers that make use of forward
secrecy and thus jeopardizes the communication of users that crossed this
server in case of a private key compromise.

4. Most importantly ejabberd does not provide any way to adjust the accepted
security parameters (acceptable protocol versions, cipher string, cipher
ordering, used ECC curves, used ECDHE/DHE parameters)

Please make sure that a default configuration can be configured to use strong
cryptography, using non-broken primitives and does so by default.

Kind regards,
Benny Baumann

Package: ejabberd
Version: 14.05-1~experimental2
Severity: grave

Hi folks,

when upgrading from 2.1.x to 14.05 the configuration of the Mnesia database
is not properly updated. While older versions used ejabberd@$(hostname) for
the EJABBERD_NODE it is ejabberd@localhost for the most recent one. This
change is not reflected during the upgrade and causes the upgraded server to
fail to start (with meaningless erlang error messages worth submitting to
NIST as a new form of random bitstring generation - can't be worse than
DualEC DRBG).

Updating /etc/default/ejabberd to use the old value of ejabberd@$(hostname)
for the EJABBERD_NODE setting solves the issue.

Kind regards,
BenBE.

No, seriously, what is your system, what happens if you try to start
thinkfan? Do you have any logs?

Had you time to get us some debug info? thinkfan works fine here (on a
systemd system, though). And it worked just fine before I installed
systemd, so I do not think there is a general problem here, thus
downgrading the severity.

Hi,

I am not sure if this is the same as
#760593 [G| | ] [libwebkitgtk-1.0-0] libwebkitgtk-1.0-0: Missing symbols
as it is looks very similar.

Although the program I am packaging (maildir-utils) uses auto* and
properly searches for webkitgtk-3.0:
PKG_CHECK_MODULES(WEBKIT,webkitgtk-3.0 = 1.8.0 ...
I get linking errors:

I guess this could be related to:

* Recent move of people.debian.org from one machine to another one.
* Recent move of things from http to https.

but in either case I wonder, if get-upstream-version.pl does not
change several times a week, why this little perl script is not
included in the flashplugin-nonfree package itself.

Would you please consider doing that?

Thanks.

By reading Bug#758609, this is actually close: The move from http to
https has made this package to suddenly require ca-certificates to
work.

However, my suggestion to include the script in the package still
holds.

Having a package which downloads code from adobe is already hacky
enough, but of course we can't avoid that because the plugin is not
free, that's why this package is in contrib to begin with.

But using a script which is downloaded from people.debian.org is a
hack that may be avoided by including the script in the package
itself. I would call this a hackiness not mandated by the plugin
non-freeness.

Thanks.

Package: gksu
Version: 2.0.2-6
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

It's impossible to run root terminal if it has been closed until re-login.
I use Gnome/Gnome classic mode and running Root terminal from
Applications--Accessories
And I'm able to run it once. And if I close the window then I'm not able to run
it again until re-login to the Gnome session(doesn't matter regular or classic
mode).
And it doesn't gives me any errors when running.
I have got this bug on my virtual machine and on my notebook as well after
fresh install.
So I don't think that it's wrong settings made by myself.

I should have some spare time next week. I'll be glad to read your
findings, and we can keep each other informed on whether we get to it.

It's been more than 3 weeks now - what's the status of the upload?

Looking at the package on mentors, the minified JS source seems to be
the only major issue. But as the current package in unstable also has
that issue, and this upload will close 5 RC bugs, 2 important bugs,
and a request for a new upstream version, I'm inclined to think we
shouldn't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. The package that
is waiting on mentors looks like a vast improvement over what's in the
archive currently.

I'd really like to see the last few wxwidgets3.0 transition bugs dealt
with, and ideally not by removing packages (unless that's what the
maintainer prefers). And plplot is also holding up gnudatalanguage
there - that's 2 of the 7 remaining packages which I'm hoping to see
transitioned.

I'd prefer an upload sponsored by someone who's actively sponsoring
plplot uploads, but the freeze is less than 2 months away now, so I'm
starting to consider just sponsoring it myself.

Cheers,
Olly

Hello,

I have uploaded a a patched version (thanks Stephen!) to unstable and
prepared an upload 3.0.6.RELEASE-6+deb7u4 for wheezy-security, for which
the debdiff for the .dsc and .changes is attached. (It is essentially

Thank you,

Bug#760657: [cmtk]Non free files under GFDL with invariant or front-cover or back-cover texts

2014-09-06 Thread Bastien ROUCARIES
Package: src:cmtk
Version: 3.2.1-1
user: lintian-ma...@debian.org
usertags: gfdl-invariant
severity: serious

Hi,

Your package include some files (see below) licenced under GFDL with
invariant or front-cover or back-cover texts.

Utilities/numdiff-5.2.1/docs/numdiff.html invariant part is: with no
invariant sections, with the front-cover texts being numdiff user
manual, version 5.2 and with no back-cover texts
Utilities/numdiff-5.2.1/docs/numdiff.info invariant part is: with no
invariant sections, with the front-cover texts being numdiff user
manual, version 5.2 and with no back-cover texts
Utilities/numdiff-5.2.1/docs/numdiff.txi invariant part is: with no
invariant sections, with the front-cover texts being numdiff user
manual, version 5.2 and with no back-cover texts
Utilities/numdiff-5.2.1/docs/numdiff.txt invariant part is: with no
invariant sections, with the front-cover texts being numdiff user
manual, version 5.2 and with no back-cover texts

Per General Resolution [1] GFDL with invariant or front-cover or
back-cover text is considered non-free.

You could solve this problem by (see also [2]):
- contact upstream to relicense.
- rip the file and add it to non free (like gcc-doc).

You could also ask debian-qa for more guidance.

Thanks

I've changed my mind somewhat about this. It's possible that someone
is happily running hybserv on a separate system from their IRCd and
would want to upgrade that to jessie whilst keeping their ircd-hybrid
system(s) running wheezy. So, downgrading this for now.

Bug#758839: contains non-free data

2014-09-06 Thread Per Andersson
Hi!

This package needs a thorough license check of probably every
single data file. It then needs to be sent upstream to replace or
remove these files, or create a DFSG repackaged tarball.

It is not enough to fix only the files I reported originally.

Stas Zytkiewicz s...@childsplay.mobi wrote:

and are also probably sampled from Pacman
  /usr/share/childsplay/CPData/PackidData/waka.wav
  /usr/share/childsplay/CPData/PackidData/walk.wav

Not true, it's of course inspired by the pacman sound but the length of
 the 'waka'
is 0.17 seconds and the length of the 'walk' is 0.08 second and are
 sound effects.
It's not the original pacman sound and I'm surprised that someone would
 think those
very tiny sounds files could be the original pacman sounds.

  * A sound from The Simpsons, where Homer shouts wohoo. Classic sound
   byte, but non-free

  /usr/share/childsplay/CPData/wahoo.wav

Not true, it's an recording of *me* shouting wohoo and then altered a bit
 with audacity filters.

Are you for real?

The copyright file states that these files should be GPL-3+, but that is
  surely not the case.

Note that I have not made a detailed license analysis of the entire package
contents and that there might be more non-free data.

Perhaps, but it's an illusion to think one can check every image or sound
in this day and age where images and sounds are copied and distributed
 numerous times on the internet.

Well, the data in childsplay is finite so it is just a matter of time to
verify everything. Debian's take on copyright is very serious,
everything should be accounted for, to the point.

It seems that you don't care about software being free, just copying
whatever comes around. Is that the case?

If it is difficult to verify that the data content you include is free, then
create new original data and release it under a free license.

Either remove the data, or, better, replace it with free images and
  samples.

Childsplay is marked for autoremoval from testing on october fifth,
if this bug is not resolved. [1]

In a larger perspective, Savannah seems to require that the project
can be licensed under a free software license. [2] I don't see how
this project complies with that at all.

Bug#755761: gdm + kde problems in start_kde_wrapper

2014-09-06 Thread Andreas Henriksson
Control: reassign -1 kde-workspace-bin

Hello!

Since all seems to point to this being a problem in start_kde_wrapper
I'm reassigning this to the package with startkde which is where
the wrapper seems to be invoked from and people are pointing to
replacing the call as a workaround for solving the problem.

Regards,
Andreas Henriksson

Thanks for reporting this. As dkg mentioned, the changes pending in git

Hi,

postgresql-prioritize ships a 9.1 extension. With the move to
postgresql-9.4, the package needs to be recompiled to produce the new
module. I'm attaching a short diff that at least makes the package
depend on the proper server version.

Ideally, the package would not just build one module, but for all
currently supported by /usr/share/postgresql-common/supported-versions.
The file debian/pgversions isn't used at all now. (I'm updating it
anyway to all, and also bumping the postgresql-server-dev-all
version to support this value; see pg_buildext(1).)

Mit freundlichen Grüßen,
Christoph Berg

Indeed this is just a spaces-instead-of-tabs issue supposedly fixed by patch
03_makefile_spaces.patch, which resolves the problem in Makefile.am. Yet the
shipped Makefile.in is not being regenerated in the build process, hence the
problem persists.

Reasons for this failure may be in the various failing clean attempts in the
build process, but this is a guess only. The full build log is attached.

Best,
Michael

Bug#709701: sqlheavy libvala-0.16 dependency dropped in upstream git (2 years ago)

2014-09-06 Thread Andreas Henriksson
For the record, the dependency on libvala-0.16 in sqlheavy
has been dropped in this (topmost) upstream commit
(almost 2 years ago):

https://gitorious.org/sqlheavy/sqlheavy/commit/7ae6112960a0ac4d77d904dd8cc561dcac62b6e2

This project seems dead upstream and unmaintained in debian.

Regards,
Andreas Henriksson

Bug#760688: geoip-database-update script coding errors

2014-09-06 Thread roma1390

Package: geoip-database-contrib
Version: 1.8
Severity: critical
File: geoip-data

geoip-database-contrib_update has many problems

1. general naming must be followed, and script named like other update-*
scripts

   update-geoip-database-contrib

2. file update has race conditions:
   - file is removed and later downloaded
   - file decompresion is in place, this exposes partial file to user

3. file download-update is not safe: wget can get redirect and name file
with any name.

so in /usr/share/GeoIP can be found files like index.html and others...

4. write is done to /usr which is many cases can safely be assumed that
is read-only

Suggestions:

1. place databases to /var/lib/cache/GeoIP/
2. place symlinks from /usr/share/GeoIP/ to /var/lib/cache
3. update files in following maner

---
cleanup() {
rm -f ${TEMP_DB_FILE_GZ} ${TEMP_DB_FILE}
}
trap cleanup 0

TEMP_DB_FILE_GZ=$(mktemp -t 'GeoIP.tmp.XX.gz')
TEMP_DB_FILE=$(mktemp -t 'GeoIP.tmp.XX')

for ...
do
...
/usr/bin/wget -t3 -T15 ${url} -O ${TEMP_DB_FILE_GZ}
 \
/bin/gunzip -f  ${TEMP_DB_FILE_GZ}
${TEMP_DB_FILE}

mv ${TEMP_DB_FILE} /var/lib/cache/GeoIP/${FILE}
rm ${TEMP_DB_FILE_GZ}
...
done

Bug#760559: [Pkg-openldap-devel] Bug#760559: openldap: uninstallable Build-Depends due to gnutls and gcrypt schizophrenia

OK, thanks.

 In the mean time,
would you be willing to NMU openldap to Build-Depend on libgcrypt11-dev
 instead
of libgcrypt-dev? (DELAYED of a few days would probably be appropriate.)

I don’t feel comfortable dabbling in the whole gcrypt/gnutls/other
related libraries mess, sorry.

But such an NMU or maintainer upload, should it really fix this
problem and not introduce any new ones, would definitevely help.

Hi,

steadyflow currently has a (build) dependency on either valac-0.16 or
libvala-0.16-dev.

The current default vala version is 0.20.

Please update your package to build against this version. Unless the
package uses specific features from a certain vala version, it is
recommended to use valac (= 0.XY) instead of vala-0.XY in your
(build) dependencies.

Thanks!

Michael, on behalf of the Debian Vala team.

Hi,

steadyflow build-depends on vala-0.16, which is pretty old and we
would like to remove. You should instead use the much newer
valac-0.24, or preferably the unversioned 'valac' package.

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for kiki (versioned as 0.5.6-8.1) and
uploaded it to DELAYED/5. The patch is the same as that in
the bug already, except debian/changelog now references the bug
number, and I updated the changelog entry date.

Please feel free to tell me if I should delay it longer.

Cheers,
Olly

Bug#759934:

2014-09-06 Thread Pau Garcia i Quiles
This FTBFS is actually caused by Doxygen 1.8.8

ACE 6.2.7+dfsg-1 builds fine with Doxygen 1.8.7, on all platforms

Doxygen 1.8.8 is causing trouble with other packages (e. g. with my own
witty, see bug #758975)

Doxygen 1.8.8 crashes while building ACE on amd64.

This is preventing ACE 6.2.7+dfsg-1 to enter Jessie, and in fact is
leaving ACE out of Jessie because ACE 6.0.3+dfsg-3 FTBFS on Jessie due to
the newer gcc.

I have tried with 1.8.8-1, 1.8.8-2 and 1.8.8-3. All of them crash with ACE
6.2.7+dfsg-1.

Doxygen 1.8.7-3 works perfectly.

Bug#753470: libspring-java: CVE-2014-0225

 Hi,
 please see http://www.gopivotal.com/security/cve-2014-0225

 Hello,

I have uploaded a a patched version (thanks Stephen!) to unstable and
prepared an upload 3.0.6.RELEASE-6+deb7u4 for wheezy-security, for which
the debdiff for the .dsc and .changes is attached. (It is essentially
identical to the debdiff for unstable.) I also placed the source and
binary packages for the wheezy update here:

   https://people.debian.org/~tmancill/libspring-java_wheezy/

 for Security Team review.

AFAICS at the time (at least), this CVE was marked no-dsa. Do you
concur on this classification or is there something we missed? If so,
could you contact the stable release managers to have an update trough
 stable proposed updates?

Hi Salvatore,

No, I'm not aware of anything that has been missed. I was just trying
to be proactive about creating a package. If any user needs to build
for wheezy, the patch is available in the BTS.

Thank you for the information,
tony

Bug#737395: Debian funny-manpages Copyright

2014-09-06 Thread Riley Baird
Hi Dave!

I'm from Debian, and we currently ship some manpages which you
wrote/improved many years ago (baby.1, echo.1 and flame.1).

The problem is, someone has complained that we can't distribute them
since they aren't under a DFSG-free copyright license.

So, would you please be able to release them under a free license?

If you need any help, just ask.

Yours thankfully,

Riley Baird

P.S. If you have time, can you please take a look at this bug report [1]
and tell us:
1. Do you know the contact details of any of the other authors?
2. Have you written any of the manpages without author information?
3. Have you written any other funny manpages we don't know about?
