Bug#779145: gwibber-service-twitter: Twitter OAuth enforces SSL

2015-02-24 Thread Dominik George
Package: gwibber-service-twitter
Version: 3.0.0.1-2.2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

Authorising with Twitter does not work, the web view only shows an error
message from Twitter that SSL is required. Obviously Gwibber tries to do
OAuth over plain HTTP, which Twitter does not allow anymore.

Please prepare Gwibber 3.5 to be uploaded to sid once the freeze is
over.

Bug#605303: [gwibber] does not start

2015-02-24 Thread Dominik George
Hi,

Gwibber-service currently has a (not needed) dependency on network-manager.
If you're not using Gnome, or don't want network-manager, gwibber-service will
 crash hard during startup.

I can confirm that the issue is related to NetworkManager. Although I am
running MATE with NM, gwibber-service fails to start with:

If purging the firewalld package does not solve the problem, how can
 firewalld break your system?

I was intending to say purging and reinstalling.

Please provide steps how this problem can be reproduced.

A verbose journal log might helpful as well to diagnose your problem.
For that, please add systemd.log_level=debug to the kernel command
line, then login and dump the journal into a file via journalctl -alb
journal.txt and attach it to the bug report.

Bug#777597: perl-modules: upgrade regression: dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of perl-modules

As perl is transitively build essential (via dpkg-dev and libdpkg-perl),
build dependencies should not be a concern at all.

There are a few packages that pull in perl indirectly through their other
dependencies, which brings the count of binary packages that only depend
  on perl-modules down to 15:

Release team: if we don't find another solution, would you be willing to

   Depends: perl-modules
  with
   Depends: perl
  into jessie?

Yes. Feel free to do this in parallel with trying to find an
alternative solution. The sooner we solve this upgrade issue, the better.

Thanks, and sorry for the lack of action on this bug. I'm struggling
to find any Debian time at the moment.

I doubt we can find any other solution, unless the apt maintainers can
come up with something. So I assume breaking the circular dependency is
the way to go even though I'm not very happy about it.

The next step should probably be to review the packages that would pull
in perl-modules without perl, and see if they would be actually broken
by the change. If they would, we'll need to declare appropriate Breaks
in the perl-modules version that doesn't depend on perl anymore.

Changing packages that don't actually break is a lower priority item,
even if I'd like to see them all changed before the release.

One (somewhat crude) approach would be to file severity:serious bugs
now against all the relevant packages, and then later downgrade any that
turn out to work with just perl-modules.

Possibly this bug should be cloned against the apt package at the wheezy
version. I don't think we know currently if it's still hiding in the
jessie version too?

As things are, circular dependencies seem to have become so fragile that
we might as well forbid them in the policy IMO...

I probably won't be able to work on any of this before the weekend.
Help is certainly welcome.

He's probably using libssl1.0.0_1.0.2-1 installed from experimental. But
if you're installing stuff from experimental, you should expect stuff
relating to it to break.

Although it would be good if curl didn't use those SSLv3 functions, the
relocation error is definitely a bug in the OpenSSL package rather than
in curl.

khronos-api currently FTBFS in an unstable pbuilder (same errors as those

I converted to mp4 files with movie-to-dvd movie1.mp4 movie2.mp4.
I made a background with movie-make-title-simple -o title -m pal
Then I tried to create the .vob with movie-title -o title.vob -t title
movie1.m2v movie2.m2v, but that didn't have any effect.
Not having any effect means that there was no output or files generated or
anything else. Tje program just stops imediately without any message and the
exit code 1.
Doing some debugging I figured out that the script terminates at a read in line
279, but couldn't figure out why.

Package: hdparm
Version: 9.39-1+b1
Severity: grave
File: /lib/udev/rules.d/85-hdparm.rules
X-Debbugs-CC: anth...@derobert.net

I enabled RAID_WORKAROUND, and it managed to leave sync_speed_min and
sync_speed_max set to 0. That of course had a degraded RAID array sitting
there, not rebuilding—a scenario that puts data at great risk.

Looking at the scripts, I think what happens is that 85-hdparm.rules calls the
init script, which does:

1. save current value of sync speeds to variables
2. change both to 0.
3. call hdparm
4. restore from variables.

but udev works in parallel, so multiple hotplugs can happen at once. Leading
to
a race:

a1. save (200k)
a2. change (from 200k to 0)
b1. save (this will save 0!)
a3. hdparm
b2. change (from 0 to 0)
b3. hdparm
a4. restore (back to 200k)
b4. restore (back to 0) (!)

Of course, that race can go other ways, such as calling hdparm with the rebuild
in progress (which supposedly corrupts data). Or both could happen.

The most obvious approach to fix this is locking.

There are related bugs, such as each RAID array actually can use a non-default
set of sync speed parameters, set in /sys. But I think that can be documented
and left to the user to solve.

when using hdparm and systemd, the HDD configuration is not properly restored
after resuming the system from standby. Instead, the default value (APM = 128)
is used again which lets the disk click all the time.

As what we find in #778302 is a global problem in Debian and probably not

Bug#725284: hdparm + systemd: Patch to restore configuration after resume

2015-02-24 Thread Michael Meskes
I just uploaded 9.43-2 with the patch mentioned in this bug report. However,
I lack the hardware to test hdparm. So please test it before I file an
unblock request.

Also I'm not sure if it's a wise idea to remove the init file at this stage
of the release.

Thanks.

Bug#778634: squeeze update of libphp-snoopy?

2015-02-24 Thread Raphael Hertzog
Hello dear maintainer(s),

the Debian LTS team would like to fix the security issues which are
currently open in the Squeeze version of libphp-snoopy:
https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2014-5008
https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2008-7313

Would you like to take care of this yourself? We are still understaffed so
any help is always highly appreciated.

If yes, please follow the workflow we have defined here:
http://wiki.debian.org/LTS/Development

If that workflow is a burden to you, feel free to just prepare an
updated source package and send it to debian-...@lists.debian.org
(via a debdiff, or with an URL pointing to the the source package,
or even with a pointer to your packaging repository), and the members
of the LTS team will take care of the rest. Indicate clearly whether you
have tested the updated package or not.

If you don't want to take care of this update, it's not a problem, we
will do our best with your package. Just let us know whether you would
like to review and/or test the updated package before it gets released.

Thank you very much.

Raphaël Hertzog,
on behalf of the Debian LTS team.

PS: A member of the LTS team might start working on this update at
any point in time. You can verify whether someone is registered
on this update in this file:

Bug#779093: python-exif: build-depend on dh-python to fix FTBFS

2015-02-24 Thread Logan Rosen
Package: python-exif
Version: 1.4.2-2
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu vivid ubuntu-patch

Dear Maintainer,

python-exif currently FTBFS in an unstable pbuilder because it doesn't
build-depend on dh-python (and consequently doesn't pick up pybuild.pm for
debhelper). You can see the build log from Ubuntu here. [1]

In Ubuntu, the attached patch was applied to achieve the following:

  * debian/control: Build-depend on dh-python to fix FTBFS.

Thanks for considering the patch.

Bug#778893: [PATCH] Fix bug in IMAP IDLE mode with `delete_after`

Thanks very much for the patch! It will be in the next version.

Are you putting the high priority to upload this bug fix release
soonish?

If you release very soon, I will keep Debian bug status as 'grave' since
it causes data loss. I will update Debioan package as soon as you
release to get it accepted to Jessie release.

Otherwise, I guess you consider this a corner case. So I will downgrade
Debian bug to Important and make the next Debian release to come with
this bug.

I only use POP3 so I can't judge exact situation of this bug.

Osamu

Bug#779107: libgpars-groovy-java: FTBFS due to missing build dependency libjsr166y-java

2015-02-24 Thread Markus Koschany
Source: libgpars-groovy-java
Version: 1.2.1-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

I have just discovered that libgpars-groovy-java 1.2.1-1 in unstable fails
to build from source because one of its build-dependencies
libjsr166y-java (1.7.0-1) is missing in unstable. It seems it ought to
be uploaded to unstable at some time, but perhaps it is better to do
this after the freeze ends.

Regards,

Markus

Bug#779112: libjnr-constants-java, libconstantine-java: error when trying to install together

2015-02-24 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: libjnr-constants-java,libconstantine-java
Severity: serious
User: trei...@debian.org
Usertags: edos-file-overwrite

Architecture: amd64
Distribution: sid + experimental

Hi,

automatic installation tests of packages that share a file and at the
same time do not conflict by their package dependency relationships has
detected the following problem:

  Selecting previously unselected package libconstantine-java.
  Preparing to unpack .../libconstantine-java_0.8.5-1_all.deb ...
  Unpacking libconstantine-java (0.8.5-1) ...
  dpkg: error processing archive
/var/cache/apt/archives/libconstantine-java_0.8.5-1_all.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/share/java/jnr-constants.jar', which is also in
package libjnr-constants-java 0.8.6-2
dpkg-deb: error: subprocess paste was killed by signal (Broken pipe)
  Errors were encountered while processing:
   /var/cache/apt/archives/libconstantine-java_0.8.5-1_all.deb

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

   usr/share/java/constantine.jar
   usr/share/java/jnr-constants.jar
   usr/share/java/libconstantine.jar

usr/share/maven-repo/com/github/jnr/jnr-constants/debian/jnr-constants-debian.jar

usr/share/maven-repo/com/github/jnr/jnr-constants/debian/jnr-constants-debian.pom

This bug is assigned to both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may
also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug.

Cheers,

Andreas

Bug#779125: mono-fastcgi-server4: depend on perl instead of perl-modules

2015-02-24 Thread Dominic Hargreaves
Package: mono-fastcgi-server4
Version: 3.8-2
Severity: serious
Justification: blocks another serious bug

According to the package description of perl-modules, other packages
should not depend on it, since it is considered an internal implementation
detail of the perl package. At present we are dealing with an RC bug[1] in
perl which is exacerbated by such dependencies.

As such, please could you replace

Depends: perl-modules

with

Depends: perl

NMUs will be forthcoming; feel free to let me know whether you prefer
to handle this as a maintainer upload or not.

Thanks,
Dominic.

Package: sweethome3d
Version: 4.3+dfsg-2
Severity: serious

I've only tested 4.3+dfsg-2 (through Ubuntu 14.04), but I see nothing in
changelogs to suggest that this behaviour has changed more recently.

By default, sweethome3d calls home by making an HTTP request to
http://www.sweethome3d.com/SweetHome3DUpdates.xml. This is a privacy
leak.

It is configurable once the program is started, however.

Expected behaviour: in Debian, this should be patched to be turned off
by default.

Serious severity justification: I cannot find a reference, but I believe
that this is frowned upon enough in Debian to make the package unfit for
release. If I'm wrong, I'm happy to be corrected.

Thanks,

Robie

I recently upgraded an iMac G5 to Debian/Jessie. Now iceweasel does not
start anymore with the following error message:
  | jemallocCompile-time page size does not divide the runtime one.
  | Segmentation fault

This seems to be a reoccurance of a rather old upstream bug[1] that can
also be found on redhat's bugtracker[2]. This patch
(inspired by the patch attached to the redhat bugtracker[3]) seems to fix
the issue:

A local build with this patch applied works on my machine.

The properties line in the config file shown in this diff does not
specify the full path to the .so. On my machine, this means that
network-manager fails to recognise the strongswan plugin, rendering
this package useless. I assume (though am unable to verify) that this
would affect most or all users of this package. Making this change
and restarting network-manager makes the strongswan VPN configuration
option visible; removing the patch and restarting n-m makes it
disapppear again, so this certainly seems to be the cause of the bug.

Hi,

The kfreebsd-10 package stopped building its binaries on linux
architectures. However, kfreebsd-defaults still builds its binaries
for linux and they depend on (now missing) linux version of the
kfreebsd-10 binaries.

The end result is that the linux variant of the kfreebsd-defaults
binaries are uninstallable in unstable and kfreebsd-10 cannot migrate
to testing, since it would make more packages uninstallable.

Thanks,
~Niels

Relaxing the circular dependency is a workaround that might be doable,
even though it would be 'incorrect'. There are modules in perl that
need others in perl-modules, and vice versa. However, I count only 21
binary packages in sid [1] that depend on perl-modules but not perl.
As perl is transitively build essential (via dpkg-dev and libdpkg-perl),
build dependencies should not be a concern at all.

There are a few packages that pull in perl indirectly through their other
dependencies, which brings the count of binary packages that only depend
   on perl-modules down to 15:

Release team: if we don't find another solution, would you be willing to
allow changes in these packages replacing

I already did this earlier today (and have now added them as blockers
to this).

Will help out where I can.

Dominic.

Thanks for reporting it.

I wonder why a new upstream release of gpars was uploaded to unstable
during the freeze and how it was built in the first place.

Anyway, you are correct Markus, the dependency on that libjsr166y-java
version is needed and I believe it's better to fix this in unstable after
the freeze ends.

Cheers,
