Hi Gang;

I'd like to get a more up to date version of bibutils into jessie;
unfortunately the API is a bit unstable, and (unsurprisingly) the
current version of haskell-hs-bibutils in sid FTBFS with the bibutils
in experimental (5.4-1). I had a quick look at the upstream site, and
it looks like the latest version of the bindings is 5.0; this is
probably closer to 5.4. From 5.0 to 5.4 there were a bunch of symbols
added, but only one deleted. Maybe someone (TM) could prod
hs-bibutils upstream to update the bindings for bibutils 5.4.

I haven't requested a formal transition slot yet; haskell-hs-bibutils
is the only direct build depends for bibutils, but it has further
reverse build depends

haskell-citeproc-hs
haskell-pandoc-citeproc

To reproduce the FTBFS, replace the versioned depends on
libbibutils-dev with (= 5.4-1) and rebuild in an experimental chroot,
e.g. with

%  sbuild --build-dep-resolver=aptitude -d experimental
haskell-hs-bibutils_4.12-7.dsc

 This seems unfortunate, considering that one of the primary purposes of
 this change was to reduce dependence on sysvinit-utils.

 Could the dependency go the other way, instead?

I agree it's unfortunate that sysvinits upside down packaging style
now has spread to util-linux. As I see it it will be possible
to fix (via further sysvinit NMUs) once we're ready to get rid
of the initscripts dependency completely in util-linux.

It would be good to hear what the longterm plans are for sysvinit
(the binary package). Even if things stay as they are right now
I guess new jessie installs will be in great numbers and people
will generally have to install sysvinit-core to get a working
sysvinit by the time of stretch release that we can already now
see it as ok to drop initscripts dependency from u-l, given
that sysvinit-core already depends on initscripts.

I quickly looked at blockers for simply dropping the binary
sysvinit package and it seems to boil down to init-select.
On the other hand the init-select package seems to entirely
be based on farse assumptions. No replies from maintainer
on filed bugs. Maybe someone should just push for it to get
removed

Andreas Henriksson

Dear Maintainer,

At the moment the certificate of gobby.debian.net is expired (reported
separately as Bug#783599) but Jessie's gobby happily establishes a full
connection to it without any warning. This is a regression since Wheezy,
since it's not the case in gobby-0.5 (version 0.4.94-5), which shows a
warning stating that the certificate has expired with the option to
accept it any way.

It's strange (and perhaps relevant), but if one configures an empty file
as the Trusted CAs file in Jessie's gobby's security options, *then*
it lists the connection with a certificate expired error next to it in
the Document Browser pane. However, no prompt is shown, so it's not
possible to manually accept the expired certificate.

Cheers!

spatialite-bin no longer segfaults because it doesn't use the

gdal, qgis pyspatialite still use the deprecated spatialite_init()
method though. gdal 1.11.2 in experimental will stop using it in favor
of spatialite_init_ex() for spatialite = 4.1.2, so we also need to

On the other hand, I have the impression that Debian packagers would prefer to
use .pc files.
The log shows that there is no suitable pkg-config for the cross-compiler, so
it falls through
to the script looking for ncurses*-config

I did that recently, and verified that the script works with the pkg-config
which is part of
the MinGW cross-compilers. (If there is something I've overlooked, that would
be nice to know).

Perhaps the proper fix for your build is to ensure that there is a pkg-config
for the cross-build,
rather than restoring the ncurses*-config scripts to your build-environment.

Bug#769146: openntpd: fails to upgrade from 'sid' - trying to overwrite /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.ntpd

The ntp and openntpd packages both ship /usr/sbin/ntpd, and rightfully
conflict with each other. Since we have a 1-to-1 mapping between
absolute binary names and AppArmor profile (unless we bother confining
stuff via the initscript or systemd unit file, the later not being
supported in sid yet), I think the conflict must be reflected in the
packages that ship the AppArmor profiles. So I see a few solutions:

1. Have openntpd conflict with apparmor-profiles-extra. This would be
   sad, since it prevents openntpd users from benefiting from other,
   unrelated profiles shipped in apparmor-profiles-extra. OTOH this is
   very easy and can be temporary, until we can e.g. rename the
   profile shipped by openntpd to e.g. system_openntpd, and apply it
   with AppArmorProfile= (see systemd.exec(5), that should be possible
   soon after Jessie 8.1 is out.

2. Remove usr.sbin.ntpd from apparmor-profiles-extra or from openntpd.
   Same as above, this can be temporary, until systemd v210+ reaches
   sid and we have nicer solutions.

3. Move the usr.sbin.ntpd profile from apparmor-profiles-extra to ntp.
   This seems to be the obvious best long-term solution, I think.

Thoughts, opinions, volunteers?

Dererk: I have added the 'help-needed' usertag for
user=pkg-apparmor-t...@lists.alioth.debian.org, so that this bug is on
the AppArmor team's radar.

Bug#786604: libgtk3-perl: FTBFS on current sid (probably caused by gdk-pixbuf 2.31.1-2 - 2.31.4-1)

2015-05-23 Thread intrigeri
Package: libgtk3-perl
Version: 0.021-2
Severity: serious

Forwarded: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gtk-perl-list/2015-May/msg00020.html

I see test failures when trying to build Gtk3 with gdk-pixbuf 2.31.4
on current Debian unstable:

  # Gtk3::Gdk::Pixbuf::get_formats
  ok 141 - An object of class 'Gtk3::Gdk::PixbufFormat' isa
'Gtk3::Gdk::PixbufFormat'
  ok 142 # skip Gtk3::Gdk::Pixbuf::new_from_data; incorrect annotations
  ok 143 # skip Gtk3::Gdk::Pixbuf::new_from_data; incorrect annotations
  # Gtk3::Gdk::Pixbuf::save, save_to_buffer, save_to_callback
  ok 144
  Dubious, test returned 255 (wstat 65280, 0xff00)
  Failed 20/164 subtests
(less 2 skipped subtests: 142 okay)

and (in a slightly different build environment):

  # Gtk3::Gdk::Pixbuf::save, save_to_buffer, save_to_callback
  ok 144
  Can't find information for method Pixbuf::save at t/overrides.t line 644.

The corresponding C libraries (and corresponding GI files) in current
sid are:

  * glib 2.44.1
  * gdk-pixbuf 2.31.4

Note that the tests pass just fine on current testing, that has:

  * glib 2.44.0
  * gdk-pixbuf 2.31.1

Thanks intrigeri!

I'm up to whichever option you apparmor jedys consider appropiate. I
don't mind any of the scenarios described, but I would prefer to allow
users make the most out of the apparmor-profiles-extra collection as
well, which seems to conflict with option 1 (at least in the short term).

I'm 100% in agreement with you, and that the more appropiate, longterm
alternative on all three scenarios would be to convince ntp guys to
import the ntp apparmor profile from apparmor-profiles-extra into ntp
itself, which I honestly think makes sense (and that is what openntpd
does today too).

NTP Team, Hi!
What would you say about importing ntp apparmor's hardening profile into
ntp package?
This carries a little bit of work, trivial in my opinion, that is
installing the ntp profile, build-depend on dh-apparmor and to Suggest
on apparmor for activation runtime.
I wouldn't think the changes are more than 4 or 5 lines of diff.

What do you think?

Cheers,

Dererk

Bug#786601: sbcl: ftbfs when locales-all is installed but not locales

Hi,

While working on the “reproducible builds” effort [1], we have noticed
that sbcl fails to build from source, when when locales-all is installed but
not locales:

...
dh_testdir

make: *** [build-arch-stamp] Error 1
dpkg-buildpackage: error: debian/rules build gave error exit status 2
E: Failed autobuilding of package

The full log is available at https://reproducible.debian.net/sbcl (but doesn't
really show much more. Also you need to know that our pbuilder setup has
locales-all, which provides: locales, installed.

I'm not really sure atm how to this should be expressed, as build-conflicts
does not exist. Maybe this bug should also be of important severity only,
please downgrade if you think so.

We'd expect to instead 'yes' take 'user' time, like this:

dom@himalia:~$ time yes  /dev/null
^C

real0m2.686s
user0m2.656s
sys 0m0.032s

This is rather strange; any ideas from DSA?

  The new version of iceweasel auto-disables the requestpolicy plugin.

 Can you please try the 1.0.0~beta9.2+dfsg-1 version of
 xul-ext-requestpolicy as currently available from experimental and
 report back if it fixes the issue? Even if still in beta stage, we
 should upload it to unstable providing it actually fixes the
 compatibility issue.

Installing xul-ext-requestpolicy from experimental fixed the
incompatibility for me. I mean, the addon was enabled and seemed to
work (at least its configuration interface is working, and no external
resources were shown. I didn't try tcpdump to make sure no external
resources were requested).

I think having it in unstable would be good.

Hi,

the Debian Perl Team intents to file a removal bug for libogre-perl as

* it no more builds against libogre 1.9 (#732725);
* its upstream seems inactive since 2013, see
  https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=94066#txn-1344923;
* it never had much popcon (maximum 26, current 22, vote maximum 7,

* it has no hard reverse dependencies.

The only non-hard reverse dependencies are

* games-perl-dev which Recommends it, and

Thanks for the update, Axel.

Perhaps we could make an effort to get it to compile with ogre-1.9,
but even this version is oldish and I expect that we will have soon
1.10 and 2.x, most probably requiring even more changes to
rev-depends.

The lack of upstream development is indeed a concern, and the popcon
usage is low (I wonder if anybody is indeed developing with
libogre-perl), so I think that it's probably not very worth to try to
keep it alive for another release cycle.

OIS is not completely OGRE-dependent, but I guess that most of the
projects using it come from the OGRE world -- OIS was once part of
OGRE. That said, if it works, no reason to remove it.

Cheers.

If this issue were about a pkg-config that wasn't configuring cross

Further more, my cross builds do set PKG_CONFIG_LIBDIR (until #759556 is
fixed) and this works for other packages.

In other words, the issue at hand is/was not cross-specific.
