Hi,

same time do not conflict by their package dependency relationships has
detected the following problem:

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  /usr/share/doc-base/python-django-classy-tags-doc

This bug has been filed against both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may then
also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug.

-Ralf.

of this kind see http://qa.debian.org/dose/file-overwrites.html.

Bug#804983: uwsgi: BD-Uninstallable on ppc64el: build-deps on mono which is not available

2015-11-12 Thread Emilio Pozuelo Monfort
Package: uwsgi
Version: 2.0.11.2-4
Severity: serious

Your package build-depends on mono-devel / cli-common-dev on ppc64el, but
Mono is not available on that architecture in unstable, thus getting into
bd-uninst state.

You probably want to remove ppc64el from ARCHS_mono for now until the new
mono is uploaded to unstable.

Bug#804940: yaws-wiki: unhandled symlink to directory conversion: /usr/share/yaws-wiki -> /var/lib/yaws-wiki

2015-11-12 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: yaws-wiki
Version: 1.99-1
Severity: serious
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

an upgrade test with piuparts revealed that your package installs files
over existing symlinks and possibly overwrites files owned by other
packages. This usually means an old version of the package shipped a
symlink but that was later replaced by a real (and non-empty)
directory. This kind of overwriting another package's files cannot be
detected by dpkg.

This was observed on the following upgrade paths:

  stretch -> sid

For /usr/share/doc/PACKAGE this may not be problematic as long as both
packages are installed, ship byte-for-byte identical files and are
upgraded in lockstep. But once one of the involved packages gets
removed, the other one will lose its documentation files, too,
including the copyright file, which is a violation of Policy 12.5:
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s-copyrightfile

For other overwritten locations anything interesting may happen.

Note that dpkg intentionally does not replace directories with symlinks
and vice versa, you need the maintainer scripts to do this.
See in particular the end of point 4 in
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-unpackphase

It is recommended to use the dpkg-maintscript-helper commands
'dir_to_symlink' and 'symlink_to_dir' (available since dpkg 1.17.14)
to perform the conversion, ideally using d/$PACKAGE.maintscript.
Do not forget to add 'Pre-Depends: ${misc:Pre-Depends}' in d/control.
See dpkg-maintscript-helper(1) and dh_installdeb(1) for details.

>From the attached log (usually somewhere in the middle...):

I tried to reproduce the build failure within an up-to-date amd64 sid
pubilder chroot. But the package built fine.

Can you please re-run your build-test? Maybe it was some intermittent issue.

It seems to me,that you are mixing packages from different repositories.
I wonder if this is related to this issue.

The scaletempo plugin is part of gstreamer1.0-plugins-good.
Can you attach the output of "gst-inspect-1.0 audiofx"

Is this problem reproducible with a fresh user account?

OK, tested the upgrade path ... still failing, so we need a Conflicts in
mysql-server-5.6 to ensure cqrlog gets upgraded first (and undos the
conffile modifications). Verified that this works.

Since we didn't get any further feedback, I'm downgrading to important
for now

After upgrade from wheezy 7.9 to jessie 8.2 *server* boot in single ro
 mode. (Squeeze to Wheezy: OK)
 No network services.
 No remote login.
No signs of problems on monitor:
   - sysvinit leave a couple of diagnostic messages on screen (anyone can
 read if server is ill)
   - systemd after upgrade - zero messages (server is OK but do not work ->
 it's like Microsoft)

 My solution:
   A. Back to wheezy.
   B. In file /etc/fstab: bad UUID's for root file system. (UUID changed to
 /dev/sda2)
>>>

Is suspect that this broken fstab configuration was the root cause for
the unsuccessful boot. Nonetheless it would be helpful if you can
confirm that the system boots now.

If not, to get more verbose debug messages, you can add
"systemd.log_level=debug systemd.log_target=kmsg" to the kernel command
line. I would also suggest that you add "systemd.debug-shell" to the
kernel command line. This gives you a debug shell on tty9, which you can
switch to, to inspect the system.

An output of systemctl status, systemctl list-jobs and journalctl -alb
would be helpful.

Regards,
Michael

Previously, did you also replace "set -e" by "set -x"? You need to keep "set
-e". Just add "set -x" beneath. "set -e" is essential for the error to
happen as the script doesn't check for errors itself.

Bug#803204: libiksemel: utterly insecure GNUTLS settings

Coin,

hard-coding a priority string into applications. Your hard coded

You're right, this is a better way to setup priorities. Please see my
patch as an urgent fix only. I asked the maintainer to review it as he
should have more experience than me. Besides, when I made this patch I
had the user setup in mind: the library could (and should) easily accept
a string from the caller software in order to allow different
restrictions if the user wishes so (and fallback to your suggestion if
not provided).

I also think upstream should be contacted, not sure it was done. I can't
see a stable upload coming either.

The +b1 and +b2 and binary NMUs. That it, they just get rebuild,

Your package hardcodes a dependency on libglew1.10. Which right now
means it's depending on both libglew1.13 and libglew1.10. You should
stop doing that and let shlibs do its job.

Bug#804336: [debian-mysql] Bug#804336: Galera-3: Embedded code copy used

2015-11-12 Thread Otto Kekäläinen
Hello!

I can see the failing builds at
https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=galera-3

But where can I find the sources for the uploads about version
25.3.12-2+b1 and +b2 ?
Or do these numbers simply stand for a rebuild of the same sources?

How do I get the person who did these changes submit them to the git
where this package is tracked?

An alternative is to enable the user service system wide via
systemctl enable --global obex.service

Unfortunately, we don't have support for such services in
dh_systemd/init-system-helpers (yet) and simply running systemctl enable
in postinst is discouraged.
So for now I think it's best if SystemdService=obex.service is used,
which doesn't require explicit enablement.

Bug#804908: service is not started under systemd

2015-11-12 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: bluez-obexd
Version: 5.36-1
Severity: serious

Hi,

currently bluez-obexd is broken under systemd:
When trying to access the D-Bus service, on get's

Acquiring proxy failed: Fehler beim Aufruf von StartServiceByName für
org.bluez.obex: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.systemd1.LoadFailed: Unit
dbus-org.bluez.obex.service failed to load: No such file or directory.

/usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.bluez.obex.service
references
SystemdService=dbus-org.bluez.obex.service

That is a symlink though, which is only created if the user explicitly
runs "systemctl enable --user obex.service", which in my case will
result in
Created symlink from
/home/michael/.config/systemd/user/dbus-org.bluez.obex.service to
/usr/lib/systemd/user/obex.service.

There is no infrastructure to run that systemctl enable command for
every user and I think obexd should be enabled by default. I therefor
suggest to change /usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.bluez.obex.service and
use
SystemdService=obex.service

The obexd service will then be started on-demand without requiring
explicit user configuration.

Regards,
Michael

Bug#804907: Useless in Debian

2015-11-12 Thread David Prévot
Package: php-file
Version: 1.3.0-2
Severity: serious
Tags: stretch sid

[Filled as RC by a team member to see it autoremoved from testing if
nobody disagrees. Please, do downgrade it with an explanation if you
 disagree.]

Hi,

Upstream declared that “This package is not maintained”. Only
php-structures-datagrid depends on it, but is not maintained either
(#804902), so there is a priori little point to ship it in the next
stable release.

I intend to follow up with an RM request in a few months if nobody
objects (but feel free to beat me to it).

Hi,

php-net-portscan is not used by any Debian package currently, and hasn’t
seen any upstream activity for over five years. It has a low (and
shrinking) popcon, so isn’t of any use anymore a priori. There is a
priori little point to ship it in the next stable release.

Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

I am currently unable to start torus-trooper as it crashes with a segmentation
fault. I have downloaded the source package (apt-get source torus-trooper),
rebuilt it (dpkg-buildpackage) and started it with gdb. The backtrace shows a
crash in src/abagames/tt/barrage.d:111. See the attached gdb output for details.

Let me know if you need any further information.

Cheers, Linus

Bug#804894: Useless in Debian

2015-11-12 Thread David Prévot
Package: php-xml-rpc
Version: 1.5.5-1
Severity: serious
Tags: stretch sid

[Filled as RC by a team member to see it autoremoved from testing if
nobody disagrees. Please, do downgrade it with an explanation if you
 disagree.]

Hi,

Upstream declared that “This package has been superseded, but is still
maintained for bugs and security fixes. Use XML_RPC2 instead.”
php-xml-rpc2 is already in Debian. No packages in Debian depends on
php-xml-rpc, so there is a priori little point to ship it in the next
stable release.

I intend to follow up with an RM request in a few months if nobody
objects (but feel free to beat me to it).

Regards

David

...no more colours are shown in meld, which is IMHO a showstopper.

I think we've had that already in the past on GTK updates, back then
it was a theme issues, but this time I switched for testing everything
to Adwaita, but no change.

Any ideas?

Chris.

php-net-ipv4 is only used by dtc-common (not shipped in any stable
release besides Lenny, and is now only available from experimental) and
hasn’t been updated upstream for over five years.

I will not follow up with an RM request since DTC might be resurrected
at one point, but in the mean time, there is no point shipping it with
the next stable release(s).

Since this bug is blocking GLEW transition, I've just uploaded a NMU

Thanks for the quick reply,

One more thing to make sure it is the same problem, are you running stable
(jessie), testing or sid in the box where the problem appeared?

Hi, Adrin and Sebastian, yet another candidate for bug merging and closing,

#797385: iceweasel crash loading a youtube page.

As already pointed out by Mike Hommey this seems very close to #797227.

Last part of your backtrace seems similar to the backtrace reported
in https://bugs.debian.org/797227, caused by the same problem
as https://bugs.debian.org/788708 (cc'ed) in gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad
package and already fixed in testing/sid with gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad
1.4.5-3 or higher.

Which Debian suite (jesie/testing/sid) is running the system showing the
problem? Does it mix suites?

Is the problem still reproducible? Which gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad version is
installed?

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/docs/__init__.py is a very generic
name that is prone to file overwrite conflicts between packages
(which caused its detection).

Bug#804868: vnstat default config causes it to incorrectly measure bandwidth usage.

2015-11-12 Thread Tom van Wietmarschen
Package: vnstat
Version: 1.12-2
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

vnstats default configuration causes it to reject any bandwidth measurement
over 100Mbit. (MaxBandwidth is set to 100). This causes incorrect bandwidth
reports on systems with gigabit network/internet connections. Since it is
non-obvious to users until you compare it with another tool or (as in my case)
see a report you know cannot be correct it is very likely that users of this
package will get incorrect usage data without being aware it is incorrect. I've
used this tool for almost a year before noticing the reports are not entirely
accurate.

The default MaxBandwidth setting should be removed or increased to reflect the
current state of network technology.

It should crash always more or less immediately when you visit a
website with AAC audio. Vimeo for example :)

The relevant upstream bug is
  https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=748571

The problem here is that the configure check for the faad version went
wrong based on the specific compiler version. It's fairly trivial, if
the release team agrees that we should get that into jessie I can do
that in any case. It shouldn't have any negative side effects.

Just a normal jessie installation without installing things from other
sources, including sid :) It is definitely fixed since gst-plugins-bad
1.5.X, it's just not clear if the actual bug also exists in jessie or
not (and if it doesn't, the fix will also have no effect for people who

I believe so. I have had symptomatically similar crashes on two
different jessie systems, but I had not installed debugging symbols, and
it's hard to reproduce those crashes at command.

If there is code in jessie that causes stack corruption, it should be
fixed in any case in my opinion, regardless whether it causes crashes or
not. Is it clear whether the stack corruption implies a security threat?

With the 4.2 kernel, X11 fails to start up. The log file Xorg.0.log
contains a diagnostic "[drm] failed to set drm interface version."

Workaround: downgrading to kernel 4.1 allows X11 to start.

Note that this bug report is from a session running under kernel 4.1.
If you want some details from a failed start, I can boot 4.2 again and
provide them.

Just a normal jessie installation without installing things from other
sources, including sid :) It is definitely fixed since gst-plugins-bad
1.5.X, it's just not clear if the actual bug also exists in jessie or
not (and if it doesn't, the fix will also have no effect for people who
mix their packages with ones from other sources).

Hello,

the problem does not seem to occur any more with
gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad 1.6.1-1+b1 and iceweasel 38.4.0esr-1.

Do you have any specific packages for me to test?

Hi,

In this case, it seems to be a mixed testing+jessie box, not pure jessie,
so I would not yet consider it a reason for a backport.

I am looking at other iceweasel bugs that may be related to this. Will ask
for feedback and cc this bug report as gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad reference
(should have indeed used #797227), so at least they can be reassigned and
closed if needed.

But I suppose that you get a failed upgrade, you add set -x, retry and
it works. I think it would have worked without -x. Is that a machine
where you did purge roundcube, then reinstall it in 1.1.2+dfsg.1-5
version, then upgrade? If yes, it should be easy to reproduce.

What's the output of debconf-get-selections | grep roundcube? Replace

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed the piuparts
upgrade test because dpkg detected a conffile as being modified and then
prompted the user for an action. As there is no user input, this fails.
But this is not the real problem, the real problem is that this prompt
shows up in the first place, as there was nobody modifying this conffile
at all, the package has just been installed and upgraded...

This is a violation of policy 10.7.3, see
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#s10.7.3,
which says "[These scripts handling conffiles] must not ask unnecessary
questions (particularly during upgrades), and must otherwise be good
citizens."

https://wiki.debian.org/DpkgConffileHandling should help with figuring
out how to do this properly.

In https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2009/08/msg00675.html and
followups it has been agreed that these bugs are to be filed with
severity serious.

is not a proper fix for this bug in fritzing. This will break again with
the next fritzing upload.

all fixed versions will be cleared, and you may need to re-add them.

Somewhere I read about a toolchain bug (already fixed),
dh_strip_nondeterminism doing something too eagerly resulting in a
broken file. Rebuilding will fix this.

BTW, each package upgrade/reinstallation will delete the downloaded

Otherwise the prerm actions should be guarded with

Oh, and it would be great if the description gives a rough estimate how
much space is needed for the downloaded files.

User: debian-...@lists.debian.org

Hi,

your library exposes std::string or std::list in its public API, and
therefore the library package needs to be renamed.

Cheers,
Julien

The following is a form letter:

Background [1]: libstdc++6 introduces a new ABI to conform to the
C++11 standard, but keeps the old ABI to not break existing binaries.
Packages which are built with g++-5 are using the new ABI. Libraries built
from this source package export some of the new __cxx11 or B5cxx11 symbols, and
dropping other symbols. If these symbols are part of the API of the library,
then this rebuild with g++-5 will trigger a transition for the library.

What is needed:

 - Rebuild the library using g++/g++-5. Note that most likely all C++
libraries within the build dependencies need a rebuild too. You can
find the log for a rebuild in
 https://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/gcc5-20150813/
Search for "BEGIN GCC CXX11" in the log.

 - Decide if the symbols matching __cxx11 or B5cxx11 are part of the
library API, and are used by the reverse dependencies of the
   library.

 - If there are no symbols matching __cxx11 or B5cxx11 in the symbols
forming the library API, you should close this issue with a short
   explanation.

 - If there are no reverse dependencies, it should be the package
maintainers decision if a transition is needed. However this might
break software which is not in the Debian archive, and built
   against these packages.

 - If a library transition is needed, please prepare for the change.
Rename the library package, append "v5" to the name of the package
   (e.g. libfoo2 -> libfoo2v5). Such a change can be avoided, if you
have a soversion bump and you upload this version instead of the
renamed package. Prepare a patch and attach it to this issue (mark
this issue with patch), so that it is possible to NMU such a
package. We'll probably have more than hundred transitions
triggered. Then reassign the issue to release.debian.org and
properly tag it as a transition issue, by sending an email to
   cont...@bugs.debian.org:

 user release.debian@packages.debian.org
 usertag + transition
 block by 790756
 reassign release.debian.org

 - If unsure if a transition is needed, please tag the issue with help
to ask for feedback from other Debian developers.

The libstdc++6 transition will be a large one, and it will come with a
lot of pain. Please help it by preparing the follow-up transitions.

thanks.

i'm unable to reproduce the problem on my xfce4 machine.

therefore the severity of this bug-report can at most be "important"
("a bug which has a major effect on the usability of a package, without
rendering it completely unusable to everyone").

"grave" is a bit over the top ("makes the package in question unusable
or mostly so, or causes data loss, or introduces a security hole
allowing access to the accounts of users who use the package").

The error is very similar indeed.

But in theory we should not need to rebuild things. We have policies
regarding package names and ABIs and transitions and all that.

If this is one of those cases where a transition should have happened
but it did not, it would be good at least to recognize it before
fixing it with a no-change rebuild.

(Note: I hope the maintainers can tell something about this. I'm not
even a user of this package).

Thanks.
