Bug#800201: pgpgpg: Please migrate a supported debhelper compat level

2015-12-25 Thread Eriberto Mota
Control: tags 800201 patch
Control: tags 800201 pending
Control: tags 439430 pending

Hi,

I uploaded a NMU to 10-day/delay queue. Feel free to cancel this
upload if needed.

The debian/changelog is:

 pgpgpg (0.13-9.1) unstable; urgency=medium
 .
   * Non-maintainer upload.
   * Migrated DH level to 9 to avoid a FTBFS. Thanks to Logan Rosen
   . (Closes: #800201)
* debian/compat: added.
* debian/control:
   - Added the ${misc:Depends} variable to provide the right install
 dependencies.
   - Bumped Standards-Version to 3.9.6.
   * debian/rules:
   - Added the --no-ddebs option to dh_strip to avoid the dbgsym
 creation. It would be a NEW binary (pgpgpg-dbgsym).
   - Added the dh_md5sums to generate a md5sums control file. Thanks
 to Ben Finney . (Closes: #439430)
   - Changed the binary-arch target to install files in right place.
 Thanks to Logan Rosen . (Closes: #800201)
   - Some actions to allow the package build twice:
   ~ Added a condition to execute '$(MAKE) distclean'.
   ~ Using dh_clean to clean the debian/ directory.
   * debian/watch: added.

I attached a debdiff.

Regards,

Eriberto

This looks more like a problem in libnet-cups-perl:

# dpkg -L libnet-cups-perl
/.
/usr
/usr/share
/usr/share/doc
/usr/share/doc/libnet-cups-perl
/usr/share/doc/libnet-cups-perl/changelog.Debian.amd64.gz
/usr/share/doc/libnet-cups-perl/changelog.Debian.gz
/usr/share/doc/libnet-cups-perl/changelog.gz
/usr/share/doc/libnet-cups-perl/examples
/usr/share/doc/libnet-cups-perl/examples/print_file.pl
/usr/share/doc/libnet-cups-perl/examples/list_dests.pl
/usr/share/doc/libnet-cups-perl/copyright
#

Or https://packages.debian.org/sid/amd64/libnet-cups-perl/filelist .

https://packages.debian.org/jessie/amd64/libnet-cups-perl/filelist
looks healthier. Seems this package somehow lost its content in a
binNMU ...

Cheers,
gregor

Bug#808972: [Reportbug-maint] Processed: cloning 808384, reassign -1 to reportbug ...

2015-12-25 Thread Sandro Tosi
control: severity -1 wishlist

let's set the right severity here (it is pretty clear running
reportbug that the information are store publicly "Note: bug reports
are publicly archived (including the email address of the submitter)")
and exists an option (--paranoid) exactly for those more careful about
security and privacy.

I think it is more a task for a bug script in tomcat8, but since
debian-el calls with the --no-bug-scripts... not much can be done from
that side. and even if we do something in reportbug, that will be
ignored since debian-el is running all in automatic-mode, so all the
warnings will be lost.

This package FTBFS with perl 5.22 (currently in experimental), since
Module::Build has been removed from perl core:

perl Build.PL --installdirs vendor
Can't locate Module/Build.pm in @INC (you may need to install the Module::Build
module) (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl/5.22.0

line 1.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at Build.PL line 1.
dh_auto_configure: perl Build.PL --installdirs vendor returned exit code 2
make: *** [build] Error 2

The fix is to add a build dependency on libmodule-build-perl.

This bug will become release critical nearer the time of the perl 5.22
migration, expected during the (northern hemisphere) summer.

Cheers,
Dominic.

Hi,

The package spellcast-doc is using a debhelper compat level of 3 or less
according to lintian. These compat levels have been deprecated for
the past ~10 years and debhelper will remove support for them in the near
future (as declared in [1]).

 * Please migrate the package to a supported debhelper compat level.
   - Compat 9 is recommended
   - Compat 5 is the bare minimum (compat 4 will be removed soon as
 well)

 * If your package uses any of the following tools, please remove them
   from the rules files. Neither of them does anything except warn
   about their deprecation.
   - dh_desktop
   - dh_scrollkeeper (deadline: January 1st 2016)
   - dh_suidregister
   - dh_undocumented

 * Please note that your package might have been flagged for using
   e.g. "DH_COMPAT=2 dh_foo ...".
   - This will still cause issues when the compat level is removed.

 * If the package has been relying on dh_install being lenient about
   missing files, please see "MIGRATING TO COMPAT 5 OR LATER" in [1].

 * Deadline:
   - compat 1+2: November 1st 2015
   - compat 3: January 1st 2016

If you are using other deprecated debhelper features (such as omitting
the debian/compat file), please consider fixing those while you are at
it.

Thanks,
~Niels

Dear maintainer,

I have uploaded a new upstream release of ppp to experimental. As you
may be aware, new upstream releases of ppp cause ABI breaks, so the
version of your package currently in sid will stop working. A new
upload of your package will be required in order for it to remain
functional.

With this release of ppp I am also including a new dh_ppp tool in the
ppp-dev package. This will help to avoid having to make manual changes
to packages in future by automatically generating the correct
dependencies on binary packages. If your package build system also
requires the path to the ppp plugins directory, the dh_ppp tool is able
to provide that.

This should allow future ABI transitions to be tracked using the
release team's "ben" transition tracker, and packages should only
require a binary-only NMU to build against the new ABI.

I have prepared a patch for your package to enable to build against the
new version of ppp currently in experimental. I will add the patch to
this bug very shortly (once I have a bug number to add to the
changelog).

I plan to upload ppp-2.4.7 to sid on Friday, 4 December 2015. You will
need to upload a patched version of your package on or shortly after
that date.

Regards,
Chris (ppp maintainer)

Hi,

Whilst rebuilding all reverse build-dependencies of python-django
with the latest release candidate, I noticed that
python-django-contact-form
FTBFS with 1.9~rc2.

Please update your package to work with Django 1.9 as I will uploading
it to unstable once it is released in early December 2015 (and at the
same time raising the severity of this bug to RC).

Typical issues include:

 * "django.utils.importlib" has been removed in favour of just
   "importlib"

 * Template builtins have been removed, removing
   "template.base.builtins", "django.template.base.add_to_builtins",
   etc. You can read more here:

https://chris-lamb.co.uk/posts/importerror-cannot-import-name-add_to_builtins-under-django-19

 * "django.forms.models.save_instance" has been removed:

   -

https://github.com/django/django/commit/8656cfc4e01332426e5e4b78c20a4e9ec443b293
   -

https://github.com/django/django/commit/b11564fd36587b1077bf7d77b62b7879cc08c382

 * "django.utils.unittest" has been removed in favour of just
   "unittest"

The full build log is attached.

Hi,

With this last release libmpich-dev doesn't provide

Package: debhelper
Version: 9.20151220
Severity: serious

It looks like

https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/debhelper/debhelper.git/commit/?id=1bd369cc52115fd179a46d6f8d9af6e9f126ffa8

broke dh_installmanpages, which has
@allpackages=getpackages('');

The new code handles a missing argument but not an empty one.

+   my ($type) = @_;
+   $type //= 'both';

This made at least four packages FTBFS, see
 #808592 #808590 #808589 #808588

  dh_installmanpages
  dh_installmanpages: This program is deprecated, switch to dh_installman.
  dh_installmanpages: getpackages: First argument must be one of "arch",
"indep" or "both"
  debian/rules:35: recipe for target 'binary-arch' failed

Not sure which side to fix so I'm leaving it to you.

codesearch.debian.net reports no other hits for getpackages("") or
getpackages('') FWIW.

Bug#783297: [pkg-cryptsetup-devel] Bug#783297: breaks initramfs if BUSYBOX=n

Yes, cryptsetup initramfs scripts do depend on busybox. At least this
was the case some years ago.

As cryptsetup can be used without initramfs (e.g. only home partition or
removable storage encrypted), the cryptsetup package doesn't depend on
"initramfs-tools, busybox" but merely recommends them.

Honestly, this looks like a bug in busybox to me. What's the reason for
the two busybox initramfs hook scripts at all?

*) /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/busybox copies bin/busybox to the
   initramfs and links /bin/sh to it without sourcing initramfs.conf.
*) /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/zz-busybox-initramfs sources
   initramfs.conf, removes busybox binary from initramfs if existent,
   and copies bin/busybox to initramfs and links all aliases provided
   by busybox to it.

I don't understand the following:

What's the purpose of /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/busybox at all,
if changes are reverted by
/usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/zz-busybox-initramfs later on anyway
and redone in a slightly different fashion?

Why does /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/zz-busybox-initramfs source
initramfs.conf? The BUSYBOY variable is exported by mkinitramfs anyway.

The simplest fix to this bug would be to stop sourcing initramfs.conf in
hooks/zz-busybox-initramfs.

To my understanding, the purpose of
/usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks-conf.d is to provide a place where
packages that include an initramfs hook script can overwrite settings to
initramfs.conf without altering the config file itself. In other words,
this directory is like an include directory for initramfs.conf. This
implies, that every script which explicitly uses/sources initramfs.conf,
needs to honour this include directory as well.

In fact, we (Guilhem Moulin and me) discuss a related topic with the
initramfs-tools maintainers in bugreport #807527[1] at the moment. In
our eyes, initramfs-tools should provide a clear API or best practice
for custom initramfs hook configuration.

If there's no reason for sourcing initramfs.conf in hooks/zz-busybox,
then this definitely is the way to go.

Do you think that the cryptsetup packages should depend on
initramfs-tools and busybox despite the fact that they're usable without?

Package: dpkg
Version: 1.18.3
Severity: serious

Hi Guillem,

dpkg does not always properly pass the old version number when
calling "postinst configure" on package upgrades, sometimes there
is either no or an empty argument.

I have two cases where an 'apt-get dist-upgrade' from jessie to
stretch calls 'systemd.postinst configure' differently:
* a minimal jessie chroot (incorrect behavior)
* a minimal jessie chroot + bash-completion (correct behavior)

I noticed this while analyzing some strange piuparts failures in jessie
to stretch upgrades. Unfortunately I neglected it for a long time since
I assumed to have hit a strange bug in some systemd support scripts:

1m41.2s ERROR: FAIL: After purging files have disappeared:
  /etc/dbus-1/system.d/org.freedesktop.machine1.conf.dpkg-remove not
owned
  /etc/systemd/system/halt.target.wants/ not owned
  /etc/systemd/system/halt.target.wants/hwclock-save.service ->
/lib/systemd/system/hwclock-save.service not owned
  /etc/systemd/system/poweroff.target.wants/ not owned
  /etc/systemd/system/poweroff.target.wants/hwclock-save.service ->
/lib/systemd/system/hwclock-save.service not owned
  /etc/systemd/system/reboot.target.wants/   not owned
  /etc/systemd/system/reboot.target.wants/hwclock-save.service ->
/lib/systemd/system/hwclock-save.service   not owned

Digging into this I found the systemd.postinst from stretch performing
cleanup of hwclock-save.service and removal of that obsolete conffile
- but strangely only sometimes:

# Cleanup hwclock-save.service, which was shipped in jessie.
if dpkg --compare-versions "$2" lt-nl "219-8"; then

Bug#808974: minitube: New upstream version 2.5 - please package if possible, or remove package

2015-12-25 Thread Dominik George
Package: minitube
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

Bug #803716 mentions API changes which are fixed upstream.

There is indeed a new upstream version. I tried to build it, but failed
because it needs a Google API key at build time.

I think this is not possible for Debian (and most others).

If it is still possible to build the new upstream version, please do so.

If it is not possible, please have the package removed from Debian,
because the current version does not work either.

As a note to upstream: NewPipe (https://github.com/theScrabi/NewPipe)
has code that can access YouTube without any API key. Maybe upstream can
borrow code from there, so we get a new upstream version that does not
have this blocker?

Subject: [PATCH] Fix a scoping issue with "no autodie" and the "system" sub

Don't queue nonexisting subs for reinstalling later when
exiting the 'no autodie' scope.

FIXME: if the original sub 'can be undef for "CORE::" subs', does this
break for those? Is that the case when $symbol =~ /::/, as guarded for
on L566?

... and further to one of its reverse dependencies, Devel::CallParser.
I've got it down to this:

  #!/usr/bin/perl -w

  use Devel::CallParser;

  sub f {
my $arg = shift;

{ my $arg; } # ???
print $arg ? "ok\n" : "not ok\n";

which gives "ok" on 5.20 and "not ok" on 5.22.
