I see Aurelien applied that in 5.3.1-15 and I can confirm that fixes the
runtime failures I was seeing in the subversion build.

Bug#822366: linux-image-4.5.0-1-amd64: Running kernel-image version 4.4 or higher cause switching consoles to be blank.

2016-04-23 Thread Stephen Peetin
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.5.1-1
Severity: grave
Tags: upstream
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

I noticed this behavior when using the Switch-User(dm-tool) feature running
Mate DE & LightDM and running kernel 4.4. Running kernel 4.3 does not display
this behavior.

With two or more user accounts created, user1 sign in. If user2 need to login
and user1 Switch User, it will bring up the the display manager. User2 can sign
in but when user2 Switch User, it returns to a Blank screen. The only way to
get out of it is to reboot the system using the power button. This behavior
happen using the Ctl-Alt-Fn keys also.

I've noticed this happen with Debian Testing, Archlinux and a few other distros
that are running kernel 4.4 or higher.

Steps to Reproduce:
Create two users, switch consoles between the two users while running kernel
4.4 or higher, it should produce a black screen and only option is to reboot
the computer.

Hi,

The package openuniverse is still using dh_desktop according to lintian.
This command was obsoleted in 2009 and has since then done nothing but
print a warning.

 * Please remove all remaining calls to dh_desktop at your
   earliest convenience.

 * I will remove dh_undocumented from debhelper in the first upload
   after 1st of April.

If your package is *also* affected by any of the following debhelper
related deprecations, please consider fixing them at the same time:

 * debhelper compat 4 is deprecated and is expected to be removed
   on the 15th of June.
   - Compat 9 is recommended
   - Compat 5 is the bare minimum
   - If the package has been relying on dh_install being lenient about
missing files, please see "MIGRATING TO COMPAT 5 OR LATER" in [1].

Cleared everyone so the package would not bother you anymore. I will fix
bad bugs if any will be encountered, as a downstream maintainer. Thank
you for everything done before.

Unfortunately I see no such software and I have no free time to write any
by myself. Fortunately this one works well still despite being kinda old.
So I close this as 'wontfix' because downstream isn't dead.--- End Message ---

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed to install. As
per definition of the release team this makes the package too buggy for
a release, thus the severity.

>From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

dpkg: error processing package seelablet-common (--configure):

Let's look at other packages that call udevadm in their postinst:
https://codesearch.debian.net/results/udevadm%20control%20--reload%20path%3Apostinst*/page_0

Usually errors are ignored by appending (some variant of) "|| true",
and sometimes there is also an explicit test for a chroot (e.g. in hackrf),
although that could be simplified to

  if ! ischroot; then
udevadm foo --bar || true
udevadm bar --foo || true
  fi

(ischroot is in debianutils)

cheers,

Andreas

While your point about upstream is right, the downstream isn't dead yet,
and I have desire to keep it alive, rationale for that is simple - there
is no other alternative package to manage users, since other known users
management tools are integrated into GNOME and KDE, and gnome-system-tools
is only standalone package which can be used in any other DE, and said
package depends on liboobs. So let it stay alive, feel free to report if
any bad bug happens, I will fix that. Thank you.--- End Message ---

Bug#820312: python-laditools: fails to upgrade from 'jessie': does not find an upgrade path

reassign 820312 python-enum34 1.1.2-1
retitle 820312 python-enum34: should conflict/replace python-enum
thanks

Hi,

I have tried having python-laditools conflict with python-enum, but this
is not enough to allow python-laditools to upgrade. I suspect the only
way to fix this is to have python-enum34 conflict with (and maybe
replace) python-enum.

For your information, python-enum already conflicts with python-enum34,
and is hopefully going to be removed from the archive soon (there is one
package remaining that blocks removal).

Old bug on python-enum for your information:

I prepared an upload for wheezy- and jessie-security, and attached is
a debdiff for sid as well.

I can upload to unstable with a NMU if needed as well.

FWIW I cannot reproduce this, while I still can easily see #805863.
Given the lack of progress I am probably going to drop gnutls guile
bindings.

Bug#802208: jq: FTBFS on mips*: tests fail

2016-04-23 Thread Jakub Wilk

This is most likely caused by this GCC bug:
https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=68273

Indeed, the package no longer FTBFS on mips when built against current
gcc-5 (5.3.1-15), which is supposed to fix PR68273.

The new GCC version is not available on mipsel yet, so I haven't tested
it there.

Thanks! The attached trivial patch fixes the test failure in
libcrypt-gcrypt-perl by calling setkey() first. I've verified it works
with both libgcrypt 1.6.5 and 1.7.0.

Subject: [PATCH] Use an encryption key in the test suite

While encrypting without calling setkey() used to work before libgcrypt
1.7.0, this was accidental and not supported. It causes a SIGSEGV in
1.7.0 and will return an error in future versions.

It turns out I was responsible for the second bug. When I updated yecht
1.1-1, the updated .jar file is now dropping a class in the default package
(YechtService.class).

That doesn't work with maven-bundle-plugin.

I got jruby 1.7.25 building in Debian although is not ready for upload
since some tests are failing and I need to workaround the yecht issue
in similar way to what is described here:

https://techotom.wordpress.com/2014/10/21/fixing-the-default-package-is-not-permitted-by-the-import-package-syntax-with-maven-bundle-plugin/

Help is welcome as usual.

Hello Niko,

I have forwarded this upstream

and got a quick response, whichcan be summed up in short with:
1. encryption without setkey must not be used.
2. gcrypt should throw an error instead of a segfault

Please take a look at the short thread on libgcrypt-devel for full
details.

Package: src:libbpp-seq-omics
Version: 2.1.0-1
Severity: important
Tags: sid stretch
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: libstdc++-cxx11

Background [1]: libstdc++6 introduces a new ABI to conform to the
C++11 standard, but keeps the old ABI to not break existing binaries.
Packages which are built with g++-5 from experimental (not the one
from testing/unstable) are using the new ABI. Libraries built from
this source package export some of the new __cxx11 or B5cxx11 symbols,
and dropping other symbols. If these symbols are part of the API of
the library, then this rebuild with g++-5 will trigger a transition
for the library.

What is needed:

 - Rebuild the library using g++/g++-5 from experimental. Note that
most likely all C++ libraries within the build dependencies need
a rebuild too. You can find the log for a rebuild in
 https://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/gcc5-20150701/
Search for "BEGIN GCC CXX11" in the log.

 - Decide if the symbols matching __cxx11 or B5cxx11 are part of the
library API, and are used by the reverse dependencies of the
   library.

 - If there are no symbols matching __cxx11 or B5cxx11 in the symbols
forming the library API, you should close this issue with a short
   explanation.

 - If there are no reverse dependencies, it should be the package
maintainers decision if a transition is needed. However this might
break software which is not in the Debian archive, and built
   against these packages.

 - If a library transition is needed, please prepare for the change.
Rename the library package, append "v5" to the name of the package
   (e.g. libfoo2 -> libfoo2v5). Such a change can be avoided, if you
have a soversion bump and you upload this version instead of the
renamed package. Prepare a patch and attach it to this issue (mark
this issue with patch), so that it is possible to NMU such a
package. We'll probably have more than hundred transitions
triggered. Then reassign the issue to release.debian.org and
properly tag it as a transition issue, by sending an email to
   cont...@bugs.debian.org:

 user release.debian@packages.debian.org
 usertag + transition
 block by 790756
 reassign release.debian.org

 - If unsure if a transition is needed, please tag the issue with help
to ask for feedback from other Debian developers.

The libstdc++6 transition will be a large one, and it will come with a
lot of pain. Please help it by preparing the follow-up transitions.

We're kicking vtk5 out of Debian, but your package still build-depend on

This package just gained another RC bug (dunno how it missed it before),

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
openjdk-8 as the default java version, but succeeds to build with
openjdk-7.

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/java8-20140908/logs-failed-ref/openvrml_0.18.9-7_unstable_ref.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with openjdk-8 explicitly, install the openjdk-8-jdk package
from experimental,

  apt-get -t experimental install g++

and install the default-jdk package from

  deb https://people.debian.org/~doko/tmp/20140820 ./

I see, but a new libtasn1-6 has reached testing today and it still
does not build from source (because the fixed gtk-doc-tools has not
reached testing yet).

So I've added an "affects", so that I remember about this when I look
at the bug page for libtasn1-6.

Thanks.

Bug#822305: RM: openvrml -- RoQA, unmaintained, RC-buggy, FTBFS, blocks removal of old packages

2016-04-23 Thread Tobias Frost
Source: openvrml
Severity: serious
Justification: libpng-1.2-removal

Dear openvrml aintainers,
 ftp-masters,

openvrml is RC bugg with 5 RC bugs:
#748045 openvrml: FTBFS with Java 8: cannot stat './javadoc/resources/*': No
such file or directory
#760928 openvrml: ftbfs with OpenJDK 8
#791232 openvrml: library transition may be needed when GCC 5 is the default
#812538 openvrml: FTBFS in clean sid pbuilder envirorment
#816115 openvrml-dev: Please depend on libpng-dev instead of libpng12-dev

The first bug in the list has been filed May 2014 -- it never got a response
from the maintainer,
despite Emmanuel provided a patch (which I'm currently testing if it works)

#760928, filed in Sep 2014, also never received any response execpt from the
submitter.
(also providing an patch)

#791232 from July 2015 has some discussion, but no message from the maintainer.

#812538 Jan 2016 -- no replies

#816115 Feb 2016 -- no replies beside the libpng team

As it is now blocking other packages, I raise the question if it should be
removed from Debian.

Please response to this bug, if there is no response within a week, I will
reassign this bug to ftp.debian.org.

Please note, that if decide to keep it, you need to fix your pacakge ASAP.
The removal of libpng1.2 will NOT wait for it, and when removed,
at least its binary packages must go with it. (Which can lead to src removal)

As said, I'm currently trying to get that thing *built* to get rid of the
libpng12-dev* B-D
in the archives, but even if I manage to do so, the is-unmaintained problem
still stands.

Bug#803275: yt: FTBFS: tests fail on several architectures

2016-04-23 Thread Tobias Frost
Control: Severity -1 important
Control: notfixed -1 3.2.1-2.1

Fortunatly all the previously built release archs are good now, so it
it not RC anymore, and the libpng B-D is gone... (That was my goal to
archive, and the libpng)

So, sorry, no, I won't have time* to fix those remaining errors or
check if the new upstream version fixes those. I have to leave this to
the maintainers.

*The libpng removal has seveal other loose ends which I need to
tackle...

(Fixing metadata, as the 2.1 did not fix anything)

Package: ferm
Severity: important
User: pkg-systemd-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: init-rcs-service

Hi,

Your package ferm has an initscript that is enabled in runlevel S,
but it does not provide a corresponding systemd service unit.

Systemd generates units for all sysv init scripts that do not have a
corresponding systemd unit. By default, it sets
DefaultDependencies=yes, which means they get ordered after early
boot has finished.

The problem is that to preserve the runlevel S semantics, systemd in
debian is currently[1] ordering all S services Before=sysinit.target.
This target is particularly early in the boot sequence, which means
that it is most of the time too strict. In turn, this means it is
fairly easy to end up with dependency cycles. For an example, see bug
[763315]. Do note that the cycle still exists with sysvinit, it is
just that systemd complains more loudly.

Please add a systemd unit for the given service with the appropriate
dependencies, which most of the time will be less strict than
Before=sysinit.target. In other cases, the script is simply not
applicable in systemd, in which case the package should ship a
symlink to /dev/null as /lib/systemd/system/.service.

We have prepared a transition wiki page[2] explaining the issue in
more detail, and outlining some general guidance. Please refer to it
as it will have useful information.

If you have any other doubts, feel free to ask in
