Please try to do soon as we're going to try to remove the old webkitgtk soon. I am filing this bug as "serious" since the old webkitgtk will not be available in the next major stable release of Debian (codenamed "buster"). In Ubuntu, I packaged a git snapshot of geary which has been ported to webkit2gtk. If you have any question don't hesitate to ask. I think you are right. Question is how to coordinate with other anthy users and the latest ibus. If you have time to go over all the dependency package coordination, please go ahead start uploading patched packages. I am a bit short on time. I have not updated ibus to Debian. Also, I think anthy should have bumped library version to prevent this breakage in unstable. But I haven't checked details. You are welcomed to lead this task and upload as long as you will take responsibility. Osamu

This usually means an old version of the package shipped a symlink but that was later replaced by a real (and non-empty) directory. This kind of overwriting another package's files cannot be detected by dpkg. This was observed on the following upgrade paths: sid -> experimental For /usr/share/doc/PACKAGE this may not be problematic as long as both packages are installed, ship byte-for-byte identical files and are upgraded in lockstep. But once one of the involved packages gets removed, the other one will lose its documentation files, too, including the copyright file, which is a violation of Policy 12.5: https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s-copyrightfile For other overwritten locations anything interesting may happen. Note that dpkg intentionally does not replace directories with symlinks and vice versa, you need the maintainer scripts to do this. See in particular the end of point 4 in https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-unpackphase It is recommended to use the dpkg-maintscript-helper commands 'dir_to_symlink' and 'symlink_to_dir' (available since dpkg 1.17.14) to perform the conversion, ideally using d/$PACKAGE.maintscript. Do not forget to add 'Pre-Depends: ${misc:Pre-Depends}' in d/control. See dpkg-maintscript-helper(1) and dh_installdeb(1) for details. >From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...): 0m14.6s ERROR: FAIL: silently overwrites files via directory symlinks: /usr/share/doc/libqsastime-dev/changelog.Debian.gz (libqsastime-dev:amd64) != /usr/share/doc/libqsastime0/changelog.Debian.gz (libqsastime0:amd64) /usr/share/doc/libqsastime-dev -> libqsastime0 /usr/share/doc/libqsastime-dev/changelog.gz (libqsastime-dev:amd64) != /usr/share/doc/libqsastime0/changelog.gz (libqsastime0:amd64) /usr/share/doc/libqsastime-dev -> libqsastime0 /usr/share/doc/libqsastime-dev/copyright (libqsastime-dev:amd64) != /usr/share/doc/libqsastime0/copyright (libqsastime0:amd64) /usr/share/doc/libqsastime-dev -> libqsastime0 cheers, Andreas libqsastime-dev_5.13.0+dfsg-1~exp1.log.gz Description: application/gzip --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: plplot Source-Version: 5.13.0+dfsg-2 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of plplot, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive. Unfortunately SFCGAL 1.3.2 has the same issue. I've forwarded it upstream. The severity of this issue is important as long as CGAL 4.11 is in experimental, the severity should be raised to serious once the transition starts. If the issue is still unresolved at that time, I'll disable the SFCGAL support in PostGIS to keep the latter in testing. Openssl should by default support >= 1.0, and the individual packages should be the ones to limit it to 1.2 or later. That limit should be run-time and the config files which do it should have comments explaining exactly how to undo it. And packages like MTAs and web servers should have those configs commented out so that they work by default with 1.0+. -JimC -- James Cloos OpenPGP: 0x997A9F17ED7DAEA6

Bug#876537: otags FTBFS with OCaml 4.05.0
Yesterday, I prepared a new otags package that builds fine with 4.05, see https://lists.debian.org/debian-ocaml-maint/2017/09/msg00079.html and https://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-ocaml-maint/packages/otags.git . The only thing that is missing now is somebody who sponsors an upload. Hendrik
Bug#876533: hol-light FTBFS with OCaml 4.05.0
I have a look at it, hopefully a new upstream version will fix the problem. Hendrik

You could try to replace it with the version from the autoconf-archive package, which should have fixed the issue according to [1].
