Bug#873860: FTBFFS can't be in buster

2017-10-06 Thread Osamu Aoki
control: tags -1 - buster
thanks

This FTBFS was caused by the upload of anthy to unstable/sid.

Those broken versions are blocked by the RC bug to stay in unstable.

The testing/buster has the same version of anthy as the one in
stable/stretch.

Thus tagging this as buster bug is wrong ;-) Also, my NMU'd version of
anthy (once accepted to unstable) should fix issues in unstable and
allow anthy package transition to buster without problem.

So I am dropping the buster tag.

Osamu

no, not if the user choose to drop installation of manual pages, and the
infrastructure is broken not to handle creating symlinks for these cases. If you
want to help, please find an appropriate package and reassign. We had these bug

Hi,

You are right, the fix for CVE-2017-9781, which upstream calls "werk
#4757" is _not_ in 1.2.8p26. I was confused with upstream #5208 when I
wrote the changelog that closed the bug.

Upstream lists the following security related fixes for 1.2.8
==
#5208
http://mathias-kettner.com/check_mk_werks.php?werk_id=5208=yes
http://git.mathias-kettner.de/git/?p=check_mk.git;a=commitdiff;h=673360408b90f99bd54cf936091cff08d979a057

#7661 (fixed in 1.4.0p8, supposedly fixed in 1.2.8p25?)
http://mathias-kettner.com/check_mk_werks.php?werk_id=7661=yes

#7631

http://mathias-kettner.com/check_mk_werks.php?werk_id=3970=yes

#3855 (fixed in 1.2.8p11)
http://mathias-kettner.com/check_mk_werks.php?werk_id=3855=yes

#3743 (fixed in 1.2.8p10)
http://mathias-kettner.com/check_mk_werks.php?werk_id=3743=yes

Full list of changes for 1.2.8p26
=
http://mathias-kettner.com/check_mk_werks.php?edition_id=raw=1.2.8=1.2.8p26=yes

Full list of changes for 1.4.0p14
=
http://mathias-kettner.com/check_mk_werks.php?edition_id=raw=1.4.0=1.4.0p14=yes

which additionally lists

#4757 (as you mentioned above, fixed in 1.4.0p6)
http://mathias-kettner.com/check_mk_werks.php?werk_id=4757=yes
http://git.mathias-kettner.de/git/?p=check_mk.git;a=commit;h=14a5b79c6f549502244a60146ed6831dc3473f2a

#7643 (only in 1.4 and newer)
http://mathias-kettner.com/check_mk_werks.php?werk_id=7643=yes

So I think the Debian 1.2.8p16 package is only missing #4757.

I will ask upstream if they intend to fix #4757 in the 1.2.8 series.
Unfortunately due to how the upstream tarball/build works, it is tricky
to patch upstream files. If upstream doesn't intend to include this fix
I can generate a patch to make it work.

I had started working on packaging 1.4.0 as a way to fix these security
bugs (and even did an upload to experimental) but I recently learned
from upstream that:

"The use of Check_MK without OMD environment and customization of paths
is explicitly not supported anymore."

ie you can't use check-mk stand-alone, you have to use OMD (and
livestatus/WATO/multisite, the whole stack) and you have to use
upstream's installer to upstream's paths. It's very much the "network
appliance" model (or flatpak, docker image, etc)
I don't know if we'll be able to make this work in Debian. (not to
mention that nagios is gone and icinga1 will go away at some point)

That prompted me to go back to 1.2.8 and package the latest release
there in order to at least have something working without the security bugs.

Bug#876654: prosody: incompatible lua-sec version as dependency of prosody in stable

I don't think this analysis is correct. I've tested connecting prosody with
jabber.ccc-mannheim.de
on stretch and captured the packets.
The two sides just can't agree on a TLS cipher/curve.

jabber.ccc-mannheim.de supports only ECDHE ciphers and the secp256r1 (aka
prime256v1) curve.
Prosody by default allows only the secp384r1 curve.

You can verify this with:
openssl s_client -cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 -curves prime256v1
-starttls xmpp-server
-connect falster.c3ma.de:xmpp-server
works

openssl s_client -cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 -curves secp384r1
-starttls xmpp-server
-connect falster.c3ma.de:xmpp-server
fails

You can of course argue whether allowing only secp384r1 is a good default.

Felix

The full build log is available from:
   http://aws-logs.debian.net/2017/07/19/python-skbio_0.5.1-2_unstable.log

A list of current common problems and possible solutions is available at
http://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS . You're welcome to contribute!

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on EC2 VM instances from
Amazon Web Services, using a clean, minimal and up-to-date chroot. Every
failed build was retried once to eliminate random failures.

device-tree-compiler FTBFS on both armel and armhf due to failing tests:

https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=device-tree-compiler=armel=1.4.5-2=1506657642=0

https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=device-tree-compiler=armhf=1.4.5-2=1506657442=0

The same tests also failed on 1.4.4-1, but did not cause an error, as
upstream did not error out on failed tests. On 1.4.2-1 and earlier,
tests either didn't exist or were not run at all, but might actually
have the same issues.

I've started a bug report at upstream's github issue tracker:

Package: src:music
Version: 1.0.7-1.3
Severity: normal

User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: ftbfs-gcc-7

Please keep this issue open in the bug tracker for the package it
was filed for. If a fix in another package is required, please
file a bug for the other package (or clone), and add a block in this
package. Please keep the issue open until the package can be built in
a follow-up test rebuild.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-7/g++-7, but succeeds to build with gcc-6/g++-6. The
severity of this report may be raised before the buster release.
There is no need to fix this issue in time for the stretch release.

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/gcc7-20170126/music_1.0.7-1.3_unstable_gcc7.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 7, either set CC=gcc-7 CXX=g++-7 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t=experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures with
-Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols files.
For other C/C++ related build failures see the porting guide at
http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-7/porting_to.html

Hi,
with the removal of the SELinux login entry for system_u [1], cron
stops working.

get_security_context [2] expects a NULL name when called for a system cronjob.
But it is called with "system_u" [2].

It worked so far cause getseuserbyname [3] translated the incorrect
name value "system_u" still to the "system_u" seuser.

Best regards,
  Christian Göttsche

Hi,

Quick update on openjfx: the package is back on track, as of version
8u141-b14-3 I eventually managed to get it to build on both amd64 and
i386 in unstable for the first time since January. If the tests go well
I'll prepare the security update next week.

on https://www.openssh.com/report.html the upstream mailing list is not

Subject: command line parsing with -- between option and non-option arguments
completely broken

Hi,

in the process of me fixing CVE-2017-12836 a user noticed a
problem with OpenSSH’s command line parsing.

I’ve verified these on OpenSSH 5.3 (MirBSD) and 7.5p1 (Debian).

So, to begin with, this command _should_ spawn xeyes:

$ ssh -oProxyCommand=xeyes vuxu.org

This command _could_ spawn xeyes on glibc systems, but
probably shouldn’t on POSIX or BSD systems:

$ ssh vuxu.org -oProxyCommand=xeyes

This command properly does not spawn xeyes but tries to
resolve “-oProxyCommand=xeyes” as hostname, correctly failing:

$ ssh -- -oProxyCommand=xeyes

This command *must not* spawn xeyes, but does:

$ ssh -- vuxu.org -oProxyCommand=xeyes

This instead must execute “-oProxyCommand=xeyes” as command
on the remote side.

Interestingly enough, this command works the same and also
mustn’t but also doesn’t:

$ ssh vuxu.org -- -oProxyCommand=xeyes

Now it gets completely weird, this doesn’t spawn xeyes either:

$ ssh -- vuxu.org -- -oProxyCommand=xeyes

This “should” execute “--” as command with “-oProxyCommand=xeyes”
as its first option on the remote site, but judging from the error
| mksh: ProxyCommand=xeyes: unknown option
it instead passes “-oProxyCommand=xeyes” as option to a shell on
the remote side.

I don’t do the security theatre, but this could perhaps be considered
missing command escaping on the remote side (passing what would be a
command as an option to the remote shell) in addition to completely
fucked up option parsing on the local side.

This was first reported by nickserv-auth’d user jn__ on #musl on
Freenode IRC, and leah2 forwarded it to me as current de-facto
maintainer of GNU CVS because I considered adding “--” between
option and nōn-option arguments sufficient for fixing the afore‐
mentioned CVE, judging this effective enough with normal command
line parsing rules (as in getopt(3) on OpenBSD) and given the
.Sx SYNOPSIS
in the ssh manpage.

bye,
//mirabilos

PS: Please keep me in Cc, I’m not subscribed to the list.
-cutting here may damage your screen surface-

Thanks!

PS: This affects cvs in wheezy, jessie and stretch but not sid.

Bug#835542: flex: comparison between signed and unsigned integer expressions

2017-10-06 Thread Pedro Gimeno
I'm getting the same issue reported in message #5 with flex 2.6.1-1.3 amd64.

$ echo %% | flex ; gcc -c -Wsign-compare lex.yy.c
lex.yy.c: In function ‘yy_get_next_buffer’:

Downgrading to 2.6.1-1.2 did not solve the issue.

Bug#877856: mysql-utilities: Parsing MySQL version is broken

2017-10-06 Thread Yvan Taviaud - Dugwood

Package: mysql-utilities
Version: 1.6.4-1
Severity: grave
Tags: newcomer upstream
Justification: renders package unusable

MySQL version parser is broken in 1.6.4, fixed in 1.6.5, but doesn't
seem to be available:
https://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql-utilities/1.6/en/mysql-utils-install-deb.html
refers to 1.6.4, and:
https://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql-utilities/1.6/en/mysql-utils-install-source.html
refers to 1.6.4 too.

Example Python script, to be run as root (or any user that has access to
mysqld

executable):

test.py
__
from mysql.utilities.common.tools import (get_mysqld_version, get_tool_path)

if __name__ == '__main__':
    mysqld_path = get_tool_path("/usr", "mysqld")
    version_str = get_mysqld_version(mysqld_path)
    print version_str
__

MariaDB is installed, and report:
root# mysqld --version
mysqld  Ver 10.1.26-MariaDB-0+deb9u1 for debian-linux-gnu on x86_64
(Debian 9.1)

Running the Python script:
root# python test.py
None

Fixing the function parse_mysqld_version,
in /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/mysql/utilities/common/tools.py,
according to:
https://github.com/mysql/mysql-utilities/blob/release-1.6.5/mysql/utilities/common/tools.py#L247

Run the script again:
root# python test.py
('10', '1', '26')

This breaks mysqlfrm tool, because the failed parsing of the version
will run script for MySQL < 5.7.6 where I have a MySQL 5.7.19 (Percona
XtraDB Cluster 5.7)

Thanks Debian team!

Thanks for reporting this!

Needs to be recompiled against latest libunivalue.

Testsuite fails, however. Seems from a quick look to be only formatting
changes (difference in newlines in JSON data).

The fixed polygen won't migrate to buster until the new OCaml does, but
this is not actually a bug that affects buster (until the new OCaml gets
there, at which point it will be a non-issue). Tagging the bug accordingly
so that it won't trigger autoremovals for packages like ikiwiki-hosting.
