During a rebuild of all packages using OpenSSL this package fail to build. A log of that build can be found at: https://breakpoint.cc/openssl-1.1-rebuild-2016-05-29/Attempted/libzypp_15.3.0-1_amd64-20160529-1446 On https://wiki.openssl.org/index.php/1.1_API_Changes you can see various of the reasons why it might fail. There are also updated man pages at https://www.openssl.org/docs/manmaster/ that should contain useful information. There is a libssl-dev package available in experimental that contains a recent snapshot, I suggest you try building against that to see if everything works. If you have problems making things work, feel free to contact us. Kurt Sorry for the late reply on this. The OpenSSL FTBFS should have been fixed in 16.4.3-1. I noticed that recent versions of starlink-* packages run successfully in unstable, but starjava-topcat (and also starjava-table, but I haven't investigated that further yet) fails in testing¹ when I use the packages from starjava-votable from unstable with the error copied below². I tried multiple combinations of pulling in other packages from unstable and when I also pull in starjava-fits packages, then the autopkgtest of starjava-topcat passes. This is a clear indication that some of the packages from starjava-votable (I believe tarlink-votable-java) need versioned dependencies on some of the packages of starjava-fits. Please investigate this issue and don't hesitate to ask for more information about the test setup if needed, or addition tests (you can trigger them yourself as well via the new ci.d.n API³. I would strongly recommend against the "parallel stack" part. Ack. Also patch contributions become more complicated then. autotools are mature and widely used, there is nothing bad about using them. Yep. Noted. meson is the shiny new tool. It is still evolving with slight breakages here and there, but already used widely enough to limit the amount of breakage that can happen. Depending on your personal preferences either would be a good choice, but doing both would bring you double work and double bugs for no benefit. Ack. Mike cu Adrian This parallelism bug in nx-libs I will close for now with --no-parallel everywhere in debian/rules after some futile attempts on the upstream side to get the Makefile dependency tree fixed. Bug#894667: beep bug
How similar is beep to beep2? I use beep2 on Smoothwall Express. It is not installed suid root. Rather, I changed beep2's default output device to /dev/tty13 (would be just as easy to use tty63) and changed the perms on that TTY to 622. Without suid root, beep2 can only open files for input or output for which its user has access; with similar treatment, beep should be almost properly limited. Neal
Bug#896998: python-pip: missing required _vendor module in 9.0.1-2.1
Source: python-pip Version: 9.0.1-2.1 Severity: serious User: debian...@lists.debian.org Usertags: regression With the upload of version 9.0.1-2.1 of python-pip, the autopkgtest¹ started to fail with lots of instances of the error copied below (full log² attached). The error shows that even importing main from pip fails, I *assume* this makes python-pip nearly useless. Looking at the filelist of the two different packages, indeed the _vendor directory is missing in the latest version. (I created the diffs by taking the filelists from packages.d.o). Please investigate the situation. Bug#896977: starlink-votable-java: new version misses versioned depends on packages from starjava-fits
Control: affects -1 src:starjava-table Disclaimer for the original report: the assumption is that the autopkgtests are representative for the use of the different packages. Otherwise all these issues may only really be issues in the tests. On top of the analysis in the original report, the results for starjava-table¹ show that it is also affected in the same way, but probably also that starlink-votable-java needs a versioned breaks on starlink-table-java, as for starjava-table, also starjava-table packages need to be upgraded for the test to pass. Additionally, I think starjava-votable also breaks the old version of starjava-fits. The autopkgtest of starjava-votable also fails if only starjava-votable is upgraded. Bug#859841: zurl: Please migrate to openssl1.1 in Buster
Dear readers of this long-standing bug ticket, durign the last 3 weeks there was no real progress, but the release team at least noticed the open transition request (#891872). Unfortunately, there are some conflicts with other transitions. ("That means this will have to wait until there are no conflicting ongoing transitions. I will ack this when that time comes.") Well, at least there is some hope that this happens before the transition freeze for buster. (2019-01-12) Jan
Bug#896977: starlink-votable-java: new version misses versioned depends on packages from starjava-fits
Hi Paul, thanks for the bug report. The problem here is indeed a missing versionized dependency from starlink-fits-java; I just uploaded a fix. For starlink-table-java, the problem is a bit more tricky: the new starlink-fits-java requires to add one line FitsConstants.configureHierarch(); to the tests initializations to let some of the tests succeed. I however hesitate to put a "breaks" into starjava-fits, since the package is not really broken; just the use in some corner cases needs that line. This is however fixed in the starjava-table version in unstable. Best regards Ole

Bug#896977: starlink-votable-java: new version misses versioned depends on packages from starjava-fits
Package: starlink-votable-java Version: 2.0+2018.04.17-1 Severity: serious User: debian...@lists.debian.org Usertags: breaks Control: affects -1 src:starjava-topcat In preparation of using autopkgtest results for unstable-to-testing migration, I am running autopkgtests with migration candidates from unstable in testing. Bug#894326: python-skbio FTBFS with dh-python >= 3.20180313
Control: tags -1 help Hi, some packages I maintain received this kind of bug in the case of python-skbio it is ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'skbio' So the module that was just build is not found. I guess this is due to some misuse of pybuild - but what did I wrong? Python-skbio is available on Salsa[1] (updated to new upstream but with no change for the current problem). Any hint how to fix this? Kind regards Andreas. [1] https://salsa.debian.org/med-team/python-skbio -- http://fam-tille.de

Often times that manifests as an ImportError or ModuleNotFoundError. Typically, dependencies should be inserted by dh-python via ${python:Depends} or ${python3:Depends}. Thus a missing dependency can be caused by incomplete install_requires in setup.py. Sometimes a missing dependency of a dependency is the cause, in such cases this bug should be reassigned.
