Dear maintainer,

Your package does not include build-arch and/or build-indep targets in
debian/rules. This is required by Debian Policy section 4.9, since 2012.
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-source.html#main-building-script-debian-rules

Please note that this is also a sign that the packaging of this software
could benefit from a refresh. For example, packages using 'dh' cannot be
affected by this issue.

This mass bug filing was discussed on debian-devel@ in
https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2021/11/msg00052.html .
The severity of this bug will be changed to 'serious' after a month.

Best,

Lucas

Hi,

The package checksecurity uses debhelper with a compat level of 5 or 6,
which is deprecated and scheduled for removal[1].

Please bump the debhelper compat at your earliest convenience
/outside the freeze/!

  * Compat 13 is recommended (supported in stable-backports)

  * Compat 7 is the bare minimum

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT the release team *DOES NOT* accept uploads
with compat bumps during the freeze.

If there is any risk that the fix for this bug might not migrate to
testing before 2021-01-01[3] then please postpone the fix until after
the freeze.

At the time of filing this bug, compat 5 and 6 are expected to be
removed "some time during the development cycle of bookworm".

Thanks,
~Niels

[3] The choice of 2021-01-01 as a "deadline" is set before the actual
freeze deadline to provide a safe cut off point for most people.

Mind you, it is still your responsibility to ensure that the upload
makes it into testing even if you upload before that date.

Hi,

The package pcaputils uses debhelper with a compat level of 5 or 6,
which is deprecated and scheduled for removal[1].

Package: usbmount

Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
I'm trying to use usbmount to automount my pendrive formatted as ntfs.
For that I only added ntfs to list of filesystems to /etc/usbmount config.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work. After plugging in the device what I get is:
[carramba@~]$ ls -la /media
ls: cannot access /media/usb0: Transport endpoint is not connected

The device seems to be mounted, though:
/dev/sdb1 on /media/usb0 type fuseblk
(rw,nodev,noexec,noatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,allow_other,blksize=4096)

/var/log/user.log contains the following (don't know why the device is
present twice):
Dec 28 13:55:50 dom mtp-probe: checking bus 2, device 3:

When executing the command above manually (after umount/pumount)
(mount -tntfs -onoexec,nodev,noatime,nodiratime /dev/sdb1 /media/usb0)
everything is fine.

Please keep this issue open in the bug tracker for the package it
was filed for. If a fix in another package is required, please
file a bug for the other package (or clone), and add a block in this
package. Please keep the issue open until the package can be built in
a follow-up test rebuild.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-10/g++-10, but succeeds to build with gcc-9/g++-9. The
severity of this report will be raised before the bullseye release,
so nothing has to be done for the buster release.

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/gcc10-20200225/echoping_6.0.2-10_unstable_gcc10.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 10, either set CC=gcc-10 CXX=g++-10 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t=experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures with
-Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols files.
For other C/C++ related build failures see the porting guide at
http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-10/porting_to.html

Hi,

golang-github-smallstep-certificates recently started to FTBFS after
some build-dependency got updated.

I've successfully built the package on amd64 on Sept 3 and on i386 on Oct 14.
New attempts in December failed.

Bug#1002966: selfhtml: Removal of obsolete debhelper compat 5 and 6 in bookworm

2022-01-01 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Source: selfhtml
Version: 8.1.2-1
Severity: serious
Tags: sid bookworm
User: nthyk...@master.debian.org
Usertags: compat-5-6-removal

Hi,

The package selfhtml uses debhelper with a compat level of 5 or 6,
which is no longer supported [1].

Please bump the debhelper compat at your earliest convenience

  * Compat 13 is recommended (supported in stable-backports)

  * Compat 7 is the bare minimum

Thanks,
Andreas

Bug#1001709: amule-daemon: amuled crashes with segmentation fault on startup

2022-01-01 Thread Sven Geuer
I cannot reproduce this bug any more. Connecting to the Kademlia
network works again without any issues.

No packages had been upgraded since the initial bug report.

I suggest to reduce the bug's severity to normal.

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/gcc10-20200225/mlucas_17.1-3_unstable_gcc10.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 10, either set CC=gcc-10 CXX=g++-10 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t=experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures with
-Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols files.
For other C/C++ related build failures see the porting guide at
http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-10/porting_to.html

Python2 becomes end-of-live upstream, and Debian aims to remove
Python2 from the distribution, as discussed in
https://lists.debian.org/debian-python/2019/07/msg00080.html

Your package either build-depends, depends on Python2, or uses Python2
in the autopkg tests (the specific reason can be found searching this
source package in
https://people.debian.org/~morph/mass-bug-py2removal_take3.txt ).
Please stop using Python2, and fix this issue by one of the following
actions.

- Convert your Package to Python3. This is the preferred option. In
case you are providing a Python module foo, please consider dropping
the python-foo package, and only build a python3-foo package. Please
don't drop Python2 modules, which still have reverse dependencies,
  just document them.

  This is the preferred option.

- If the package is dead upstream, cannot be converted or maintained
in Debian, it should be removed from the distribution. If the
package still has reverse dependencies, raise the severity to
"serious" and document the reverse dependencies with the BTS affects
command. If the package has no reverse dependencies, confirm that
the package can be removed, reassign this issue to ftp.debian.org,
make sure that the bug priority is set to normal and retitle the
issue to "RM: PKG -- removal triggered by the Python2 removal".

- If the package has still many users (popcon >= 300), or is needed to
build another package which cannot be removed, document that by
adding the "py2keep" user tag (not replacing the py2remove tag),
using the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org user. Also any
dependencies on an unversioned python package (python, python-dev)
must not be used, same with the python shebang. These have to be
replaced by python2/python2.7 dependencies and shebang.

This is the least preferred option.

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

Python2 becomes end-of-live upstream, and Debian aims to remove
Python2 from the distribution, as discussed in
https://lists.debian.org/debian-python/2019/07/msg00080.html

We will keep some Python2 package as discussed in
https://lists.debian.org/debian-python/2020/07/msg00039.html
but removing the unversioned python packages python-minimal, python,
python-dev, python-dbg, python-doc.

Your package either build-depends, depends on one of those packages.
Please either convert these packages to Python3, or if that is not
possible, replaces the dependencies on the unversioned Python
packages with one of the python2 dependencies (python2, python2-dev,
python2-dbg, python2-doc).

Please check for dependencies, build dependencies AND autopkg tests.

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

I have opened an issue upstream:
https://github.com/pypr/pysph/issues/326

Meanwhile I will try to work to a patch to fix the issue.

Bug#1002961: src:castle-game-engine: fails to migrate to testing for too long: FTBFS on armel

2022-01-01 Thread Paul Gevers

Source: castle-game-engine
Version: 6.4+dfsg1-7
Severity: serious
Control: close -1 7.0~alpha.1+dfsg-4
Tags: sid bookworm
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: out-of-sync

Dear maintainer(s),

The Release Team considers packages that are out-of-sync between testing
and unstable for more than 60 days as having a Release Critical bug in
testing [1]. Your package src:castle-game-engine has been trying to
migrate for 61 days [2]. Hence, I am filing this bug. Your package fails
to build on armel, but is successfully built there in the past.

If a package is out of sync between unstable and testing for a longer
period, this usually means that bugs in the package in testing cannot be
fixed via unstable. Additionally, blocked packages can have impact on
other packages, which makes preparing for the release more difficult.
Finally, it often exposes issues with the package and/or
its (reverse-)dependencies. We expect maintainers to fix issues that
hamper the migration of their package in a timely manner.

This bug will trigger auto-removal when appropriate. As with all new
bugs, there will be at least 30 days before the package is auto-removed.

I have immediately closed this bug with the version in unstable, so if
that version or a later version migrates, this bug will no longer affect
testing. I have also tagged this bug to only affect sid and bookworm, so
it doesn't affect (old-)stable.

If you believe your package is unable to migrate to testing due to
issues beyond your control, don't hesitate to contact the Release Team.

Paul

Package: libguestfs0
Version: 1:1.46.2-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable on many systems

libguestfs0 depends on grub-pc on amd64 and i386, but grub-pc cannot be
co-installed with grub-efi-amd64: each of those packages represents
setting x86 BIOS grub or x86_64 EFI grub, respectively, as the active
bootloader.

When I try to upgrade libguestfs0 using aptitude, it suggests removing
grub-efi-amd64 and installing grub-pc instead, which is likely to break
previously-working UEFI systems, particularly if using Secure Boot.
Hopefully apt won't suggest that, though.

It would be better if libguestfs0 could use grub-pc-bin for the appliance:
grub-pc-bin contains the actual binaries from grub-pc (x86 BIOS grub)
without needing to set it as the active bootloader for the host system.
The build scripts for the appliance could still set grub-pc-bin as the
active bootloader in its chroot by using the same techniques as the
grub-cloud package.

Alternatively, if guestfs/supermin support it, the appliance could use
systemd-boot (bootctl) or something from the extlinux/syslinux family,
which might be a little easier than grub to insert into the appliance's
rootfs?

Alright, crashes are solved and the packages are now usable. After some
cleanups (listing CVEs in changelogs, merging/pushing a bunch of
commits in my branch, possibly dropping strong stack protection from
builds to silence warnings from older clang versions, and going through
lintian errors/warnings), it should be ready to upload.

How should I handle this? NMU to sid, let people try it out, and then
deal with buster/bullseye? Upload everything all at once? I'm also
going to try building for buster, unless the security team doesn't
think I should bother. That may involve vendoring some additional
libraries, so we don't have to carry a bunch of additional patches.

I also haven't heard from anyone on the chromium team yet - should I
add myself as an uploader and do a normal (non-NMU) upload? Do any of
them care?

Thanks,
Andres

Severity: normal
Usertags: compat-5-6-removal

Hi,

The package xbindkeys-config uses debhelper with a compat level of 5 or 6,
which is deprecated and scheduled for removal[1].

Dear maintainer,

Your package does not include build-arch and/or build-indep targets in
debian/rules. This is required by Debian Policy section 4.9, since 2012.
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-source.html#main-building-script-debian-rules

Please note that this is also a sign that the packaging of this software
could benefit from a refresh. For example, packages using 'dh' cannot be
affected by this issue.

This mass bug filing was discussed on debian-devel@ in
https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2021/11/msg00052.html .
The severity of this bug will be changed to 'serious' after a month.

Best,

Lucas

Dear maintainer,

Your package does not include build-arch and/or build-indep targets in
debian/rules. This is required by Debian Policy section 4.9, since 2012.
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-source.html#main-building-script-debian-rules

Please note that this is also a sign that the packaging of this software
could benefit from a refresh. For example, packages using 'dh' cannot be
affected by this issue.

This mass bug filing was discussed on debian-devel@ in
https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2021/11/msg00052.html .
The severity of this bug will be changed to 'serious' after a month.

Best,

Lucas

Source: libcompface
Version: 1:1.5.2-5
Severity: normal
Usertags: compat-5-6-removal

Hi,

The package libcompface uses debhelper with a compat level of 5 or 6,
which is deprecated and scheduled for removal[1].

Hi Robin,

Both php-nesbot-carbon and php-league-mime-type-detection show PHP 8.1
incompatibility (already default in experimental, soon in unstable):

https://release.debian.org/britney/pseudo-excuses-experimental.html#php-defaults
https://ci.debian.net/data/autopkgtest/unstable/amd64/p/php-league-mime-type-detection/16973785/log.gz
https://ci.debian.net/data/autopkgtest/unstable/amd64/p/php-nesbot-carbon/16973795/log.gz

Both packages have a new upstream version available, so they hopefully
just require an update.

Regards

David

The makedeb package is not in Debian, and synaptic does not seem to
crash otherwise.

Please provide a backtrace [1] for this segmentation fault.

Bug#1002927: dgit test casds use abolished compat versions

2022-01-01 Thread Ian Jackson
Source: dgit
Control: found -1 dgit/9.14
Control: affects -1 src:dehbelper
Severity: serious
X-Debbugs-CC: debian...@lists.debian.org
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: needs-update

dgit's autopkgtests contain some example packages which use debhelper
compat level(s) which are being abolished.

This was not detected during the MBF campaign for obvious reasons.
Currently this is causing a test failure which is preventing the new
debhelper (which is the version which actually removes support for
compat 5) from migrating.

I will update my tests. This should be straightforward and I expect
to be able to do it in the next few days.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

Ian.
