Oh, I thought Santiago Vila did so in #664989.
Anyway, IMHO, if it's useful and doesn't break things badly, it should
make it into wheezy, no matter how deprecated debhelper 5 is ;)
But it's just my very humble opinion :)

I uploaded the NMU as the fix deserves to get into the wheezy release.
I double checked that the NMU is non-intrusive and am satisfied with it.
Someone please talk to the release team, or ping me if you'd rather me
doing it.

Thanks!

Bug#628810: Fails to install, update-openoffice-dicts is no longer shipped by dictionaries-common

2011-06-01 Thread Amaya Rodrigo Sastre
Package: myspell-es
Version: 1.11-1
Severity: serious
Tags: sid

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi there,

I am afraid this might be related to #619246, but there you talk about
removal, and this happens during install.

Trying to install myspell-es, I get:

~-root@lem>apt-get install myspell-es
[...]
Setting up myspell-es (1.11-1) ...
Error: update-openoffice-dicts not present or executable. Missing dependency on
dictionaries-common?
dpkg: error processing myspell-es (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
configured to not write apport reports
Errors were encountered while processing:
 myspell-es
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I see that /var/lib/dpkg/info/myspell-es.postinst is trying to exectute
update-openoffice-dicts, which it can't find.

So I look for it and it *seems* to be shipped by dictionaries-common
~-root@lem>apt-file search update-openoffice-dicts
dictionaries-common: /usr/sbin/update-openoffice-dicts
dictionaries-common: /usr/share/man/man8/update-openoffice-dicts.8.gz

But it is no longer there. I dunno if this bug actually belongs in
dictionaries-common, as it should ship the script, or if things just
changed and you shuld invoke a different script in postinst (which seems
to be the case according to #619246).

Thanks for your time!

Bug#550825: [safe-rm] Unable to upgrade perl (Postinst scripts fail screaming in pain :) )

reassing 550825 safe-rm

Hi there,

I am sorry if my previous bug report was a bit (a lot) "written in
panic". I now realize it lacked information.

It was while running this command that I got more input and realized
that it was safe-rm (a perl script that substitutes /usr/bin/rm) that
was making all my post-inst scripts to fail. So your answer was truly
helpful.

I am reassigning it now, as it has nothing to do with apt, dpkg,
circular pre-dependencies or such deep, complicated things :)

It was just a simple perl script complaining (pasting here for the
safe-rm maintainer) about not finding English.pm during the upgrade:

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this problem with Debian.
It would be useful to know if your X works at all.
Does running 'startx' in the console work?
If so, can you attach your .xsession-errors file for more info?
If not, could you attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

Thanks!

Same here what?

Well, with both 2.6.26-x and 2.6.28 I am unable to boot my amd64
anymore. First my network card stopped working (e100), so I plugged in
a rt8139too and now the e100 works but I get random kernel oops at boot
time, and I have seen what the original bug reporter describes also. A
lot of fun indeed. I have been reading other bug reports on this kernel
version and it looks dreadful. Sorry I can't provide more useful
information atm. I am away from the computer, the frustration (since
saturday night) has been too much to bear, and I am going through a very
hard personal time in RL. I just wanted to say /me too, without getting

I am very sorry that you think fixing this was not needed. I dare to
disagree, as I expect those users to be able to build from source
packages.

In any case, you had a week to react to my NMU and I would have been
easily convinced to abort it had you stated your opinion on this.

By just build-depending on ghsotscript this FTBFS goes away.

I know ghostscript is broken atm, but that will eventually change at
some point.

I will upload to DELAYED/7, please give some input on this.

You simply do not need to. The package base is a placeholder for all
these bug reports that we don't know where they belong yet. Usually what
we do is find the package that has this bug and then reassing it to it.

I am very happy to do this for you now, there is no further action you
need to take, except for working with the console-tools maintainer in
fixing this bug :)

Bug#438885: Mass bug filling: must use invoke-rc.d

2007-08-20 Thread Amaya
Package: general
Severity: serious

As of Debian Policy Manual version 3.7.2, the use of invoke-rc.d to
run init.d scripts has been made mandatory. Earlier, its use was
strongly recommended.

In most cases the fix should be simple, replace this:

/etc/init.d/package

with this:

if which invoke-rc.d >/dev/null 2>&1; then
invoke-rc.d package
else

On May 13 and 14, I checked all packages in Debian sid, and found
that your package needs to be changed because of this policy change.
This bug is part of a mass-filing to get all such bugs fixed.

I changed it to: install-info --quiet /usr/share/info/gzip.info.gz
and it now installs fine.

I am not sure what's going on.

Can you provide a patch? I am just sponsoring twiki and I am not
familiar enough with it yet. Sven is on holidays, so he might be away
from the computer at the moment.

But I can upload a fix, reopen this bug, or we can just open a new one,
as this is no longer a security issue as I understand it, just a bug
introduced by this security fix.

Thanks for your input, and happy hacking!

No, never touch our user's data. You can ask them with debconf.
But we tend to leave their stuff as they had it. I mean, it's mandatory
per policy.

By the way, if you ask this in the debian-mentors mailing list, everyone
learns from your questions and you get a much better chance of a better
answer than mine.

Have fun!

I included info on how to deal with this in NEWS.Debian and considered

Just for the sake of detail, your site may be vulnerable if:

   1. If you have ErrorDocument 401 set to point to the
TWikiRegistration topic (or any other TWiki topic) and

   2. You are using ApacheLogin with TWiki-4.0 and have sessions
enabled, or you are using an earlier TWiki version with
   SessionPlugin, and

this with a mail to 389267-done and a Version: 1:4.0.4-3 pseudo-header.

I find your package fine, but i has several lintian warnings:

Some are uglier than others, but I am really tight on time.
I will wellcome and review patches and upload tkwiki. I will upload
anyway, because it is much better than nothing, but the patches would be
great.

May I ask who is your sponsor? Would you accept me as a backup sponsor?

And that is truly appreciated. I feel bad that you feel attacked.
What I am trying to do here is find a way to work together in a more
satisfactory way.

I am looking at your last package. I am thinking of uploading it as it
closes several RC and security bugs. Can I add some patches here and
there (i10 mostly) so that Twiki releases with etch in good shape?

Sven, I would be happy to help you with these twiki issues.
You can tag the bugs you need help with with the bts tag 'help'.
Would you accept to co-maintain twiki? Would you prefer to to orphan it?
There is no reason to work on something that depresses you.

Let us know how we can bring the fun back into your Debian work!
We are here to help, and I mean it!

Bug#285156: Help with bug #285156 - Non free translation

2006-10-26 Thread Amaya
I have downloaded the latest source from upstream:
http://freshmeat.net/redir/display-dhammapada/41408/url_tgz/display-dhammapada-0.23.tar.gz

The polish translation now states this:

This publication is not copyrighted. One can copy it and use any part
of it with mentioning the source. Publishers ask only for information
about it.

The entire file can be fetched from:
http://www.amayita.com/debian/1_sponsored/dd/upstream/display-dhammapada-0.23/dhammapada-polish-transl.txt

I have no idea if this solves the issue or if this translation still
needs to be removed.

Thanks for any hints.

reassign 388461 libm17n-0

On further investigation I have found out that libm17n-0 stopped
providing /usr/lib/libm17n-X.so. So mgp fails miserably.

You are right, I am uploading a new version right now, but I am having a
bit of (stupid) trouble, the first upload didn't go through, and i gave
you a bad link.

The fixed .deb I am actually trying to upload is here:

I will anyway rebuild it anyway and close this bug in the changelog when

The patch is already there, and I can NMU if there's interest.

So I added a build dependency on libxt-dev, run autoreconf -I admin and
it seemed to help, but it still FTBFS.

Bug#363944: NMU openmotif

2006-06-14 Thread Amaya
Hi Gerd,

I have been looking at openmotif and I think I can deal with this bug:
#363944: libmotif-dev: uninstallable, conflicts with x11-common

Is it ok to NMU? Should I work further on this, and provide you with a
NMU patch, or are you already dealing with it? Anything I can help you
with?

Regarding:
#342092: CVE-2005-3964: Two exploitable buffer overflows in
   openmotif
There is supposedly a solution by Fedora, but I have not investigated
this further:
http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-cvs-commits/2006-March/msg01367.html

Happy hacking!
