Dear maintainers, I apologize, the bug 981924 has vanished from version 0.182+20210205-1 ; my mistake was due to the two successive updates 0.182+20210203-1.1 and 0.182+20210203-1.1+b1 that were both presenting the bug. Thanks for the fix Best, Ara

Bug#975899: deluge: Deluge refuses to start properly
Package: deluge Version: 2.0.3-3 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable X-Debbugs-Cc: ara.ke...@gmail.com Dear maintainer, deluge starts with a dialog Only Thin Client mode is available due to unknown Import Error. To use Standalone mode, please see logs for error details. Continue in Thin Client mode? Chosing No yields a dialog to start the deamon (but produces errors, and deluge cannot be used). Chosing Yes crashes with the many errors message in the console, detailed below. Also, it seems that none of the deluge or deluge-* package depend on the deamon deluged . Installing deluged by hand does not solve any of the mentionned issues. Clearing .config/deluge does not solve the problems either. Best, Ara Unable to initialize gettext/locale! Bug#954323: libreoffice-common: Update to 1:6.4.2-1 renders libreoffice-writer unusable
Package: libreoffice-common Version: 1:6.4.2-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Dear maintainers, updating libreoffice-common to 1:6.4.2-1 renders libreoffice-writer unusable: when opening an existing file . either the document is declared as to be restored, but restoration fails, . or the document opens, but no menu is available, icons are scattered. In either case, it is impossible to edit the file in proper conditions. Downgrading libreoffice-common to 1:6.4.1-1 solves the problem. Note that in the last debian update, many other packages were upgraded to 1:6.4.2-1 . Keeping these packages in version 1:6.4.2-1 while downgrading the only package "libreoffice-common" to 1:6.4.1-1 solves the problem. Bug#901990: Acknowledgement (linux-image-4.16.0-2-amd64: kernel BUG at startup in usercopy.c ; impossible to boot)
Dear maintainers, please find below the "kernel BUG" message in syslog . In order to reboot i had to downgrade to testing (= 4.16.12-1 ) the following packages : linux-headers-4.16.0-2-common linux-image-4.16.0-2-amd64 linux-headers-4.16.0-2-amd64 and to run dpkg-reconfigure nvidia-kernel-dkms So that it seems relatively clear that the problem comes from the nvidia driver, but since the message appears in syslog as a "kernel BUG" i reported the problem to this package. Bug#901990: linux-image-4.16.0-2-amd64: kernel BUG at startup in usercopy.c ; impossible to boot
Package: src:linux Version: 4.16.16-1 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system Dear debian kernel maintainers after switching to version 4.16.16-1 of linux-image-4.16.0-2-amd64 my system does not boot anymore. I obtain a kernel BUG message in syslog in usercopy.c. Reverting to the current testing version of the amd64 kernel makes the system bootable again (and no kernel BUG message appears anymore in syslog). Since i'm reporting the bug from the recovery startup mode, i can't attach now the kernel BUG message, but i'll do it soon after booting with the testing version of the kernel. E: A subprocess exited uncleanly (raw: 31488) and similarly for other searches. Downgrading apt-file to stable (3.1.4) from testing/unstable (3.1.5) does not solve the problem. Cleaning the database with aptitude clean or even with apt-get --list-cleanup update does not change the problem. Purging apt-file, reinstalling and re-updating the apt-file database doesn't solve the issue either. It seems the package is thus unusable. Bug#845785: chromium crashes on certain websites
Dear maintainers, same here, updating to 54.0.2840.101-1 makes chromium crash on the website gmail.com, with "Aw snap" message; please find below the message found when launching chromium from command line. Package: libunistring0 Version: 0.9.6-1.1 Severity: critical Justification: breaks unrelated software Dear maintainer and non-maintainer, upgrading libunistring0 to 0.9.6-1.1:amd64 leads to a problem with shared libraries in other packages. Bug#811349: nvidia-driver-bin: 343.36-3 driver blocks startup in a periodic state
Package: nvidia-driver-bin Version: 340.96-4 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system Dear maintainers, updating the nvidia drivers from 340.96-4 to 343.36-3 (new version in unstable) renders the system unusable: after installation and restart, display (in text mode!) becomes impermanent, entering in a very fast quasi-periodic oscillation between a black screen and text console login. No text could be entered while attempting to log in. I did not insist, fearing that the state of the system could damage the video card. Restarting in Debian Recovery mode and reverting to 340.96-4 (as i had to do to fill this bug report) solves the problem. Bug#801361: [systemd] attempts to unmount filesystems at end of boot, INCLUDING ROOT
Many thanks for the very fast solution! Updating from 227-1 to 227-2 solves • unmounting of partitions at boot • ssh rsa/dsa-key authentification issue that occurred if partitions were manually mounted (with: mount -a) and gdm manually started under version 227-1 Best, Ara On 9 October 2015 at 14:08, Martin Pitt wrote: > Control: tag -1 pending > > I found the offending commit, reverted it, and currently run tests. > I'll upload 227-2 within the hour. > > Ara Keary [2015-10-09 12:55 +0200]: > > Other symptom, if helpful: trying to log with rsa/dsa key fails on every > > machine i can access to. > > Could all this mess be related to a (pam) *system-wise authentification > > problem*? > > Might be #801354? > > > Maintainers: i really truly appreciate ∞ly your work, but do you test > > updates before uploading? ... > > We do of course, with both automated and manual tests, but #801354 is > a race condition which doesn't happen everywhere, and this bug doesn't > actually surface at all until you look at the logs (for non-root > logins it's just cosmetical). Bug#801361: [systemd] attempts to unmount filesystems at end of boot, INCLUDING ROOT
PS, downgrading (under amd64) systemd libpam-systemd libsystemd libsystemd:i386 to 226-4 on source and destination systems also solves the rsa/dsa ssh key logging problem (it works again). Bug#801361: [systemd] attempts to unmount filesystems at end of boot, INCLUDING ROOT
Hi, same here: no proper boot after 227-1 → 226-4 systemd update. /var/log/syslog show attempts to unount EVERY partition ; only the unmounting of / fails (fortunately...). Under amd64 multiarch, downgrading systemd libpam-systemd libsystemd libsystemd:i386 to 226-4 solves the problem Before downgrading, solved manually by mounting manually all partitions from root console mount -a and restarting gdm service gdm restart Other symptom, if helpful: trying to log with rsa/dsa key fails on every machine i can access to. Could all this mess be related to a (pam) *system-wise authentification problem*? On fresh testing → unstable 1 day old update: same symptoms. Thus seems unrelated to old .conf file problem. Maintainers: i really truly appreciate ∞ly your work, but do you test updates before uploading? ... Best log decrypting, Ara PS Severity should be critical

I may have been wrong about that because I was working in a > (to me) limited console, whereas I normally do it in Konsole where I can see > much more and can (easily) scroll back to see all the output. > Indeed, reverting glx-diversions 0.5.1 requires reverting nvidia-... to 340.93-1 and solves the problem. However, reverting nvidia-... to 340.93-1 but keeping glx-diversions to 0.6.0 does not solve it – which gives some evidence that glx-diversions 0.6.0 is the culprit. You can try to kill gdm from a root text console and launch X through the startx command from your user text console : then gdm should start without crashing. It thus seems that this is in the very first stages of gdm launching that the issue arises. Hoping this helps ; i can't find other interesting log files than syslog and messages, tell me if i should look another one. Best, Ara
