Bug#876554: wrong pkgconfig files
Package: src:libextractor Version: 1:1.3-2 Severity: serious configure.ac messes up with user variables CFLAGS, CPPFLAGS, LIBS and LDFLAGS. Since these are used to generate pkgconfig files, the user flags are wrongly passed to libextractor.pc (see on Debian -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2). This generates the following lintian errors and therefore prevent any new upload to unstable: libextractor-dev (1:1.3-4+b2; main) E pkg-config-bad-directive usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkgconfig/libextractor.pc -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkgconfig/libextractor.pc -Wdate-time usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkgconfig/libextractor.pc -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkgconfig/libextractor.pc -Wdate-time This bug was reported upstream in November 2015, without success. Bug#688590: update
Le 12/10/2012 17:39, Christian Grothoff a écrit : After some more discussion with Bertrand, I've committed a patch to SVN HEAD (SVN 24295) which allows the user to control NSS library installation. There are a few possibilities: 1) If configure is run by root or using the '--with-sudo' option, NSS plugins are by default installed to /lib (sane default for normal users) 2) If configure is run by a normal user and without the '--with-sudo' option, NSS plugins are by default not installed _at all_. 3) If configure is run --with-nss=no, then NSS plugins are never installed 4) If configure is run --with-nss=yes, then NSS plugins are always installed to /lib, even if neither '--with-sudo' is given nor configure is run as root. Installation will fail unless 'make install' is run as root. 5) If configure is run --with-nss=$SOMEPATH, then NSS plugins are always installed to $SOMEPATH. _This_ is likely the best option for Debian packaging. You'd run like this: ./configure \ --prefix=/tmp/buildd/gnunet-0.9.X/debian/tmp/usr \ --with-nss=/tmp/buildd/gnunet-0.9.X/debian/tmp/lib This way, most stuff will end up properly in /tmp/buildd/gnunet-0.9.X/debian/tmp/usr/{lib,bin,share} and NSS plugins in /tmp/buildd/gnunet-0.9.X/debian/tmp/lib/ so when the /tmp/buildd/gnunet-0.9.X/debian/tmp/-prefix is mapped to '/' by dpkg on install, all should be well. Happy hacking! Christian Thank you very much Christian, this is a much cleaner fix than anything I had in mind. I'll upload a new revision of gnunet to mentors with this fix included. Happy hacking! Bug#688590: patch confuses me
Dear Christian, Thank you for checking all these Debian bugs, it is really appreciated. Yes my patch would place the NSS library in /usr/lib, I thought it was ok. And my Debian scripting expect it in /usr/lib because that is where it ends up on my amd64 box. It also built fine on a lot of Debian arch since 0.9 with this scripting. In fact I don't understand how the NSS library could end up in 2 different locations with the same GNUnet version and the same packaging. I'll fix my package so the packaging will expect the NSS library in /lib. But how could I be sure that the NSS library will end up there ? Bug#688590: src:gnunet: ftbfs on ia64 (/lib vs /usr/lib confusion)
Hello, Thanks for the report. I am not sure to understand how it could fail when the previous versions built fine. The only thing I can think of is in src/gns/nss/Makefile.am. So I'll try with the patch attached, hopefully it'll fix this. But as far as I can test on my amd64 box, gnunet 0.9.3-3 builds fine with or without sudo. This part makes me extremely nervous. I don't think now is the time for this kind of change. That's why it was not uploaded to unstable, and only to mentors. I guess we could select the changes we want to see in wheezy: - The fix to build on Hurd seems harmless to me. - Getting rid of dpkg-statoverride would be nice, since its use was quite wrong. In particular, in the current package, there is no way to know whether the administrator or the gnunet package set the dpkg-statoverrides. It is in Debian only for a few months, and it would be nice not to mess up with dpkg-statoverride on Debian/stable boxes. - The rewrite of gnunet-server.init is purely cosmetic: the current package doesn't use LSB logging, so gnunet is the only line with the old look at boot. I also added the status command, making lintian happy. Clearly it is the less urgent change. + * Fix gcc-4.6: [sparc] compiler fails to align stack-allocated +struct, with array of uint32-values to 32-bit boundary: +new patch sparc_alignment.patch, taken from upstream: +https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/gnunet-svn/2012-07/msg00548.html +Thanks to Jurij Smakov for the analysis. +(Closes: #670578) + + -- Bertrand Marcbeberk...@gmail.com Wed, 01 Aug 2012 22:09:49 +0200 + gnunet (0.9.3-2) unstable; urgency=low * Clean properly dpkg-statoverride in gnunet-server.postrm [...] diff -Nru gnunet-0.9.3/debian/gnunet-server.postinst gnunet-0.9.3/debian/gnunet-server.postinst --- gnunet-0.9.3/debian/gnunet-server.postinst 2012-06-07 23:13:17.0 +0200 +++ gnunet-0.9.3/debian/gnunet-server.postinst 2012-07-07 15:50:27.0 +0200 @@ -52,6 +52,24 @@ echo done. fi + # this can go away after wheezy + if dpkg --compare-versions $2 le 0.9.3-2 dpkg --compare-versions $2 ge 0.9.2-1; then + for file in /usr/bin/gnunet-helper-exit \ + /usr/bin/gnunet-helper-fs-publish \ + /usr/bin/gnunet-helper-nat-client \ + /usr/bin/gnunet-helper-nat-server \ + /usr/bin/gnunet-helper-transport-wlan \ + /usr/bin/gnunet-helper-vpn \ + /usr/bin/gnunet-helper-dns \ + /usr/bin/gnunet-service-dns + do + if dpkg-statoverride --list $file/dev/null 21 + then + dpkg-statoverride --remove $file + fi + done + fi + How does this interact with statoverrides set by the local admin? Bug#670578: Reassigning to gnunet
Hello Gregor, 2012/7/31 gregor herrmann gre...@debian.org: for your convenience I'm attaching a debdiff with the patch converted to a quilt patch. Thank you for your work. I'll add it tonight and upload it to mentors. (If you want me to upload or if you need a sponsor just shout.) I am currently waiting for an answer from the release team about the other changes I prepared for gnunet, see [1]. I'll add the fix for this bug in the list, but I'd like to be sure all these changes are acceptable for the release team and eligible for a freeze-exception. Bug#542140: fglrx-driver: fglrx driver doesn't work with linux-image-2.6.30 (AMD64)
Hi, I don't know if you still have no hardware acceleration, but it seems that downgrading libdrm to 2.3.1 (in Lenny, see http://packages.debian.org/lenny/libdrm2) could give you hardware acceleration with Xserver 1.4 and Linux 2.6.30. Bertrand
Bug#542140: fglrx-driver: fglrx driver doesn't work with linux-image-2.6.30 (AMD64)
Gary Dale a écrit : I tried it with both the source and compiled modules with the same results. They installed without problems. However, apart from the higher refresh rate I'm getting with the fglrx driver, there's not a lot of difference between this and the vesa driver. The vesa driver still gives a faster display but with some flickering. This is the same result I got with manually installing the ATI drivers from the AMD web site. Prior to upgrading to the 2.6.30 kernel, I was getting great results from the fglrx driver. Windows would drag smoothly and become semi-transparent. I could use the X video extensions for video output from Kaffeine, vlc mplayer (but the GL video didn't work). And I was getting a lot of desktop effects, such as virtual desktops sliding from one to another. Any ideas on why the current driver's performance is so pitiful? So we are getting closer ! Bug#542400: Unable to remove package, post removal script fails
I don't think you should remove /usr/lib/fglrx/diversions/libglx.so by hand. This file belongs to xserver-xorg-core (that's why there is a diversion). I think it is related to the fact that fglrx-glx.postrm removes fglrx-driver diversions although it shouldn't. Could you test the last revision in svn (278) ? Bug#542140: fglrx-driver: fglrx driver doesn't work with linux-image-2.6.30 (AMD64)
Gary Dale a écrit : I notice that the log heading reports the X server version as 1.4.2. That seems a little strange. Right, I didn't notice that. It's probably the issue, but still I can't figure out where it comes from. Also noticed that I've somehow lost ACPI support. I know I used to have it and I don't recall removing it, so I reinstalled it. That should at least allow my screen to power down again. If you installed fglrx with apt-get, you didn't installed 'Recommands', so you probably should install fglrx-atieventsd to get ACPI support. Bug#542140: fglrx-driver: fglrx driver doesn't work with linux-image-2.6.30 (AMD64)
No sorry, I only have 32bits. But you can easily build amd64 backports with the following : #install the build dependancies sudo aptitude build-dep fglrx-driver #download the source of the backport wget http://beberking.free.fr/fglrx/fglrx-driver_9-8-1+bpo1.diff.gz wget http://beberking.free.fr/fglrx/fglrx-driver_9-8-1+bpo1.dsc wget http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/non-free/f/fglrx-driver/fglrx-driver_9-8.orig.tar.gz #Extract and build the package dpkg-source -x fglrx-driver_9-8-1+bpo1.dsc cd fglrx-driver-9-8/ dpkg-buildpackage -b That should do the trick! Bug#535653: downgrade to 9-5
Hi, If you think it would be better to downgrade to 9-5, you can build it with svn-buildpackage. You will find package 9-5-1 here : svn://svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-fglrx/fglrx-driver/tags/9-5-1 Regards, Bertrand -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#503878: [Pkg-fglrx-devel] Bug#503878: fglrx-atieventsd: authatieventsd.sh uses finger without depending on it and is unreliable
Hi! I just sent a new version to the svn with a reasonable changelog (based on #500077) and the patch for atienventsd. I think it is ready to upload to unstable, but I can't test it as I don't have a ATI card anymore... Bug#476844: fglrx-kernel-src: Won't build with 2.6.25
Hi, There a patch (http://sarah-a-happy.livejournal.com/90345.html) that allow to compile the module. He doesn't need to patch the kernel, however a weird option has to be selected : Kernel hacking --- [*] Enable unused/obsolete exported symbols Be warned, I didn't test this patch and the guy doesn't claim it is a correct patch. Let's hope ATI will fix this as soon as possible. This was reported on their Bugzilla, so we can count on a fix in 8.5.
