Bug#619972: gnome-power-manager: I also have this issue in Squeeze
Package: gnome-power-manager Version: 2.32.0-2 Severity: normal I did not have this before. I think an update this but I'm not sure and I didn't report the bug until now since I had other things to do but it still happened fairly recently to me (a matter of days). The hibernate command works and resumes normally but when I hibernate the GNOME way, it hibernates fine but upon resuming the computer (from a GNOME hibernation), the computer hangs with a blinking cursor and my fan starts spinning fast and the hard drive is not spinning at all. I have to force the computer to restart and the filesystem has to recover the journal, etc. The laptop I am using is HP's G50. Again, Squeeze/Stable did not cause me this issue until recently so something must have changed recently. -- Package-specific info: Distro version: 6.0.1 Kernel version: 2.6.32-5-amd64 g-p-m version:2.32.0 HAL version: 0.5.14 System manufacturer: missing System version: missing System product: missing AC adapter present: yes Battery present: yes Laptop panel present: yes CPU scaling present: no Battery Information: battery.charge_level.current = 40104 (0x9ca8) (int) battery.charge_level.design = 48840 (0xbec8) (int) battery.charge_level.last_full = 40104 (0x9ca8) (int) battery.charge_level.percentage = 100 (0x64) (int) battery.charge_level.rate = 0 (0x0) (int) battery.is_rechargeable = true (bool) battery.model = 'EV06047' (string) battery.present = true (bool) battery.rechargeable.is_charging = false (bool) battery.rechargeable.is_discharging = false (bool) battery.reporting.current = 3613 (0xe1d) (int) battery.reporting.design = 4400 (0x1130) (int) battery.reporting.last_full = 3613 (0xe1d) (int) battery.reporting.rate = 0 (0x0) (int) battery.reporting.technology = 'Li-ion' (string) battery.reporting.unit = 'mAh' (string) battery.serial = ' 48' (string) battery.technology = 'lithium-ion' (string) battery.type = 'primary' (string) battery.vendor = 'CPT-U22F' (string) battery.voltage.current = 12359 (0x3047) (int) battery.voltage.design = 11100 (0x2b5c) (int) battery.voltage.unit = 'mV' (string) UPower data: Device: /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/line_power_ADP1 native-path: /sys/devices/LNXSYSTM:00/LNXSYBUS:00/PNP0A08:00/device:07/PNP0C09:00/ACPI0003:00/power_supply/ADP1 power supply: yes updated: Mon May 30 00:49:34 2011 (1230 seconds ago) has history: no has statistics: no line-power online: yes Device: /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT0 native-path: /sys/devices/LNXSYSTM:00/LNXSYBUS:00/PNP0A08:00/device:07/PNP0C09:00/PNP0C0A:00/power_supply/BAT0 vendor: CPT-U22F model:EV06047 serial: 48 power supply: yes updated: Mon May 30 00:49:40 2011 (1224 seconds ago) has history: yes has statistics: yes battery present: yes rechargeable:yes state: fully-charged energy: 40.1043 Wh energy-empty:0 Wh energy-full: 40.1043 Wh energy-full-design: 48.84 Wh energy-rate: 0 W voltage: 12.358 V percentage: 100% capacity:82.1136% technology: lithium-ion Daemon: daemon-version: 0.9.5 can-suspend: yes can-hibernateyes on-battery: no on-low-battery: no lid-is-closed: no lid-is-present: yes GNOME Power Manager Process Information: deniz 3479 0.0 0.3 213936 9384 ?S00:49 0:00 \_ gnome-power-manager deniz18993 3.4 0.7 176812 23460 pts/1S+ 01:09 0:01 \_ /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/reportbug gnome-power-manager deniz19221 0.0 0.0 3952 576 pts/1S+ 01:10 0:00 \_ sh -c LC_ALL=C /usr/share/reportbug/handle_bugscript '/usr/share/bug/gnome-power-manager/script' '/t deniz19222 0.0 0.0 9096 1272 pts/1S+ 01:10 0:00 \_ /bin/bash /usr/share/reportbug/handle_bugscript /usr/share/bug/gnome-power-manager/script /tmp/rep HAL Process Information: 107 1539 0.0 0.1 44380 4832 ?Ssl 00:48 0:00 /usr/sbin/hald root 1540 0.0 0.0 22172 1376 ?S00:48 0:00 \_ hald-runner root 1579 0.0 0.0 24288 1312 ?S00:48 0:00 \_ hald-addon-input: Listening on /dev/input/event11 /dev/input/event1 /dev/input/event3 /dev/input/event7 /d root 1586 0.0 0.0 24280 1268 ?S00:48 0:00 \_ /usr/lib/hal/hald-addon-rfkill-killswitch root 1589 0.0 0.0 24280 1272 ?S00:48 0:00 \_ /usr/lib/hal/hald-addon-leds root 1596 0.0 0.0 24280 1252 ?S00:48 0:00 \_ /usr/lib/hal/hald-addon-generic-backlight root 1598 0.0 0.0 24284 1300 ?S
Bug#612242: tracker: Really high CPU Usage and Memory Leak
Package: tracker Version: 0.8.17-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable I was trying to figure out why my computer is super slow to the point that I have to do a hard reboot to have it useable again and I found the tracker-store process to use 90-100% CPU (I think when it shouldn't be due to pausing or something) but more prominently I watch (with gnome-system-monitor) the memory increase from around 5MB to over 3GB! Bug#542281: base: GNOME/KDE GUIs both do not work! (Consoles do work though)
I've determined that this was in fact the fault of fglrx. Bug#534627: mnemosyne: Mnemosyne fails to launch on two seperate installations!
Package: mnemosyne Version: 1.2.1-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Whether run as root or user, mnemosyne never runs! The closest it has been to running is saying Either Mnemosyne didn't shut down properly, or another copy of Mnemosyne is still running. Continuing in the latter case could lead to data loss! giving the options Exit or Continue both of which do absolutely nothing. The first time I experienced this issue on Squeeze (previous installation on same computer - I've had to reinstall my operating system since then), I thought that I could just solve this issue by removing the config files in Mnemosyne's home directory. Bug#518382: gnome-applets: CPU Frequency Scaling Is Invisible when added to panel and is therefore unusable!
Package: gnome-applets Version: 2.22.3-3 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Right clicking on panel and selecting “Add to Panel” and choosing “CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor” creates an invisible icon in which you need to guess where it is if you want to remove the invisible icon from the panel by right clicking everywhere. If you catch its location, you can manage to get to the preferences etc but that doesn't help with using the applet. I've seen this bug closed but the bug is still very much there on 32 and 64 bit Lenny! (I am reporting from 64 bit Lenny computer) This is important since it can allow students like myself to lock our CPU's multipliers at 6x (Core 2 Duo or Pentium Dual-Core for example) and save battery power; it can also be (slightly) useful for over-clockers that don't always need the extra speed! And of course, it can be used by those who just want to be environmentally friendly. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages gnome-applets depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.24Debian configuration management sy ii gconf2 2.22.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii gnome-applets-data 2.22.3-3 Various applets for GNOME 2 panel ii gnome-icon-theme 2.22.0-1 GNOME Desktop icon theme ii gnome-panel2.20.3-5 launcher and docking facility for ii gstreamer0.10-alsa [gs 0.10.19-2 GStreamer plugin for ALSA ii gstreamer0.10-esd [gst 0.10.8-4.1~lenny1 GStreamer plugin for ESD ii gstreamer0.10-plugins- 0.10.8-4.1~lenny1 GStreamer plugins from the good ii libapm13.2.2-12 Library for interacting with APM d ii libatk1.0-01.22.0-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libbonoboui2-0 2.22.0-1 The Bonobo UI library ii libc6 2.7-18GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcpufreq0004-2 shared library to deal with the cp ii libdbus-1-31.2.1-5 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.76-1simple interprocess messaging syst ii libgconf2-42.22.0-1 GNOME configuration database syste ii libglade2-01:2.6.2-1 library to load .glade files at ru ii libglib2.0-0 2.16.6-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome-desktop-2 2.22.3-2 Utility library for loading .deskt ii libgnome2-02.20.1.1-1The GNOME 2 library - runtime file ii libgnomekbd2 2.22.0-1 GNOME library to manage keyboard c ii libgnomekbdui2 2.22.0-1 User interface library for libgnom ii libgnomeui-0 2.20.1.1-2The GNOME 2 libraries (User Interf ii libgnomevfs2-0 1:2.22.0-5GNOME Virtual File System (runtime ii libgnomevfs2-extra 1:2.22.0-5GNOME Virtual File System (extra m ii libgstreamer-plugins-b 0.10.19-2 GStreamer libraries from the base ii libgstreamer0.10-0 0.10.19-3 Core GStreamer libraries and eleme ii libgtk2.0-02.12.11-4 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libgtop2-7 2.22.3-1 gtop system monitoring library ii libgucharmap6 1:2.22.3-2Unicode browser widget library (sh ii libgweather1 2.22.3-1 GWeather shared library ii libhal10.5.11-8 Hardware Abstraction Layer - share ii libnotify1 [libnotify1 0.4.4-3 sends desktop notifications to a n ii liboobs-1-42.22.0-2 GObject based interface to system- ii libpanel-applet2-0 2.20.3-5 library for GNOME Panel applets ii libpango1.0-0 1.20.5-3 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libwnck22 2.22.3-1 Window Navigator Construction Kit ii libx11-6 2:1.1.5-2 X11 client-side library ii libxklavier12 3.5-2 X Keyboard Extension high-level AP ii libxml22.6.32.dfsg-5 GNOME XML library ii python 2.5.2-3 An interactive high-level object-o Versions of packages gnome-applets recommends: ii deskbar-applet2.22.3.1-1 universal search and navigation ba ii gnome-media 2.22.0-3 GNOME media utilities ii gnome-netstatus-applet2.12.1-2 Network status applet for GNOME 2 ii gnome-system-monitor 2.22.3-1 Process viewer and system resource ii python-gnome2 2.22.0-1 Python bindings for the GNOME desk Versions of packages gnome-applets suggests: ii acpid 1.0.8-1Utilities for using ACPI
Bug#509827: base: Right clicking on panel and selecting Add to panel then selecting CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor creates invisible icon!
Package: base Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable When I first started using Lenny (I think about 4 months ago), I had the EXACT same bug but with the trash icon instead! That was fixed not so long after I had filed the bug report but this program is more important hence the grave severity. So when I add the CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor icon to the Panel, it creates an invisible icon that I must remove by guessing random locations on the panel bar and finding the right place by right clicking and selecting to Remove From Panel (just like I had to do with the trash icon not so long ago). -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#509691: Playing a game with compiz enabled, freezes Debian and needs a full restart!
Package: compiz Version: 0.7.6-7 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable I don't have this problem with Compiz when I am not running a game and I don't have this problem when Compiz is disabled and I am playing a game. However, when I turn on Compiz and then choose to play a game, at about 5 minutes into my gameplay, Debian freezes and am forced to reboot the computer manually.
