Bug#736106: Sourceless file
Hi, Why not 3. Create a separate package with a recommend/suggest relation between both? Eric Felix Natter fnat...@gmx.net wrote: Felix Natter fnat...@gmx.net writes: hello Bastien, thanks for pointing this out. Can we keep the package (in main) until I fix this in Freeplane 1.3.x (will be released in a few months [1]), or do I need to fix it _right now_? [1] Then I would fix it cleanly and disable the Flash export upstream. I've talked to upstream and it turns out the source code is in another git repository: https://github.com/freeplane/misc/tree/master/flash-browser I see two solutions: 1. tell upstream to include the source (~300k) in all source packages 2. ZIP those files and include them as a Debian patch. (2) could easily be done for 1.2.23. Bug#684604: eclipse 3.8 hangs on splash screen if workspace uses unavailable plugins
Package: eclipse Version: 3.8.0~rc4-1 Followup-For: Bug #684604 Hi, I have had the same (or a very similar) problem. I have solved it on my own but I wanted to tell my experience to help for a better resolution. Basically, I had done a complete reinstall of my PC (formerly with architecture i386, new with amd64, in case it's important), but kept my home drive (with workspaces and ~/.eclipse directories). Using the command /usr/lib/eclipse/eclipse -consoleLog -debug, I noticed error messages regarding missing plugin libraries (com.android Sorry, I didn't keep it). The solution was then to open a new workspace, reinstall all the missing plugins, and then restart into the old faulty workspace, which worked without further issue. One of my tries was to delete ~/.eclipse but it didn't help, but perhaps it was part of the final resolution, difficult to tell now. Two last remarks: 1. Perhaps not all plugins lead to this issue, I suspect strongly the Android ADT plugin and/or dependencies, but I had other plugins like egit. 2. Even if it's possible to overcome this issue of missing plugins, it should still be handled more nicely by eclipse, providing a clear message to the user about missing plugins and allowing him/her to install these missing plugins, without having to create a new workspace to do this. Bug#704154: vdr - Fails if started without any of CAP_SYS_TIME, CAP_SYS_NICE or CAP_NET_RAW
Hi Bastian, On 29/03/13 01:38, Tobias Grimm wrote: I'm not sure, if this qualifies for a serious severity, turning this into an RC bug. A serious bug is, quoting [1], a severe violation of Debian policy (roughly, it violates a must or required directive), or, in the package maintainer's or release manager's opinion, makes the package unsuitable for release. I checked again the Debian policy but couldn't spot anything relevant, so it would be nice to get a pointer, or alternatively an argument why the package should be unsuitable for release, especially so late into the freeze period. No Debian user would appreciate losing VDR in wheezy because of a bug happening in the seldom case someone considers their VDR system so sensitive in terms of security that they remove capabilities. Furthermore this bug is possibly security-related but definitely not a security hazard, which would anyway qualify for grave and not serious. Bug#650068: cups-pdf: PDF created are all void without error notice
Package: cups-pdf Version: 2.6.1-3 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Hello, after having migrated from squeeze to wheezy, cups-pdf does only produce minimal PDF files without any content. I tried different apps (Iceweasel, LibreOffice) without apparent difference in (bad) behavior. The PDFs created do only differentiate in terms of IDs and dates/times else they are completely the same; I'll attach an example. I have also set the report level to debug and will also attach the logfile but I don't see anything noticeable. I'm at loss what to do but currently cups-pdf is not usable at all for me, hence the high severity. Bug#640859: freeplane: FTBFS due to invalid JAVA_HOME value
Hello Miguel, few questions before I start to look into it: - your pbuilder chroot is on sid pure? - do you have JAVA_HOME and/or JAVACMD defined in your environment/chroot? I'm a bit at loss because it should work without any environment variable defined, and surely /bin/java shouldn't be a valid option, but it's been a rather long time since I last built so perhaps something changed in sid!? Bug#619140: freemind has an issue with OpenJDK in regard to Xalan
retitle 619410 OpenJDK keeps FreeMind from using xalan (due to security?) reassign 619410 openjdk-6-jre 6b18-1.8.7-2~squeeze1 thanks Hello, sorry it took a bit of time to go back to this, but now I confirm: the bug appears only with OpenJDK, not with Sun's Java, so I redirect the bug report to openjdk-6-jre; at best they'll fix the bug, at least they'll hopefully provide a work-around, or at very least an explanation that might lead to a work-around. Detailed step to repeat: 1. download test.mm from the bug report 2. install freemind, openjdk-6-jre and 3. start from the command line: $ JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk DEBUG=1 freemind 4. File - Open - test.mm == bug appears, detailed errors on the console 5. start from the command line: $ JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun DEBUG=1 freemind 6. File - Open - test.mm == no problem, the file is opened and converted! Note: you might want to delete ~/.freemind/auto.properties between 2 tests to avoid that FreeMind automatically opens the last map, which would be test.mm. Thanks to everybody who helped pin down the problem, Eric PS: if you want to force FreeMind to use a specific JVM, have a look at freemind(1), no need to edit the script :-P -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#619140: freemind: fails to start: Checking Java Version... forever
Hi, On 21/03/11 17:19, Karl Voit wrote: Hilko Bengen (ben...@debian.org) wrote: So freemind asks for converting old config file format and asks for converting my last opened mindmap but then does not start at all. Uh, this is bad. :-( It is even worse, FreeMind 0.9.0 (final version) doesn't work better. I removed ~/.freemind completely and tried to open one of my former mindmaps. So clean config, probably old mm-file-format. Yes, 0.8.1 format, that's the problem, and that sounds definitely like an upstream bug. Interesting fact: freemind asks for converting the document format *after* the panic message was written to stdout. Ignore the panic message, it's not the problem, I also get it if I call FreeMind without any file. I also attached my test mm file. Thanks, very helpful. If I call FreeMind without any file, and then open the file from the GUI, I get a more explicit error (see attached file). OK, 2 things: 1. I will try to ping upstream. 2. I guess the problem is caused originally by java.lang.RuntimeException: Use of the extension function 'xalan://freemind.main.HtmlTools:replaceSpacesToNonbreakableSpaces' is not allowed when the secure processing feature is set to true. Does someone know what it actually means? What is 'secure processing feature'? Is it something of the program, or something of the (Java/Xalan) environment? Hi, I confirm, you are fully right, it's ffmpeg from Marillat which depends on libavcodec52 which itself depends on libva1 (without version) but actually relies on an older version of libva1, provided by debian-multimedia.org but hidden by a new version from Debian. Fix in case someone reads these lines: downgrade libva1 to an older version, like: sudo aptitude install libva1=0.31.0-0.0+sds12 Sorry for the noise, Eric -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#402886: icedove has become highly unstable - 2 to 3 hangs per day
Package: icedove Version: 1.5.0.8.dfsg1-1 Severity: grave Hi, since upgrade to the dfsg version, I already had to kill and restart icedove already ~5 times since yesterday. Phenomens are very different but it always ends with a hang :-/ I already had a few times icedove stopping to show the content of the emails: I was switching from one folder to the next, and from one message to the next, but icedove showed always the same email content. Today, I had icedove hanging while trying to send an email, and I could capture part of the strace story; I noticed that icedove complained about files already existing though it created them itself. I then tried to remove the temporary files while icedove was running. It went a bit further but continued to hang, at which point I killed it. I set the severity to grave because it's currently not feasible to work properly with icedove, and I don't think it should go to stable like it is. Bug#400617: samba: FAM support doesn't seem to work with gamin
Package: samba Version: 3.0.23d-1 Severity: grave Hi, I just upgrade samba and started to get massive timeout issues trying to access my shares. Troubleshooting showed error messages in /var/log/samba/log.HOSTNAME coming up in 2s intervals: [...] Failed to connect to socket /tmp/fam-root- [2006/11/27 17:15:43, 0] smbd/notify_fam.c:fam_check_reconnect(136) failed to connect to FAM service Failed to connect to socket /tmp/fam-root- [2006/11/27 17:15:45, 0] smbd/notify_fam.c:fam_check_reconnect(136) failed to connect to FAM service [...] Adding fam change notify = yes to the global section of smb.conf solved the issue. As I don't have FAM but GAMIN (as required by KDE) installed, I suspect here some kind of incompatibility, which shouldn't make it to etch (hence the severity). My suggestion would be to have FAM notification off by default, and solve the underlying issue after etch release, should time be short. Bug#369752: freemind: Dependency Problem (package unusable)
Hi, what you're suggesting is present in version 0.8.X, which is not yet ready to go into FreeMind for reasons explained in another bug. Eric Package: freemind Version: 0.7.1-6 Followup-For: Bug #369752 Thank you very much indeed. It works now :). Perhaps there should be nevertheless a general solution. For example, checking the output of java -version and printing a notification if the wrong version is used. I can imagine, some people might find that very time saving. Please assign a different severity to this one, if you like. -- Eric de France, d'Allemagne et de Navarre

Bug#363452: jpilot: deleting current appointment cuts text at first non-ascii character.
Hi, Le Wednesday 19 April 2006 à 09:29:21, Eric Lavarde a écrit: Hi, Hello, first, I hope the severity is correct, but as data loss is involved and can only be restored through a backup, this seemed to be the correct choice. OK, here it is: - create an appointment with a text containing accented characters, like 'ceci est la vérité sortie du test' (you can use the same text in the title _and_ in the comment). Make this appointment recurrent (with or without end date doesn't make a difference). - delete one of the appointments (press the 'current' key). What do you mean by the 'current' key? Is it a button in jpilot? Yes, after you've pressed the delete key on a *recurrent* appointment, you get a dialog with 'current', 'all' and 'cancel'. - title _and_ comment are cut just before the first non-ascii character (i.e. remains only 'ceci est la v'). I have a lot of appointments with accents and non ASCII characters (I am french) and I don't have this problem. I tried to reproduce the bug by creating two appointments with accents: no problem I then deleted them: no problem Also recurring appointments where you only delete one of them (and *not* the whole appointment)? Please describe exactly how I can reproduce the bug. It's above, there is not much I can add. Perhaps the environment variables are also of importance: LANG=en_IE.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=en_IE:en_US:en_GB:en Tell me if I can provide more information. Cheers, Eric --

Bug#361063: locales: update-locale says LANGUAGE is not compatible with LANG at upgrade time.
Hi, I read #361091 and noticed that after my 2nd time of apt-get upgrade, the LANG variable was commented out in /etc/default/locale. Also, I think that a warning somewhere that the variables LANG and LANGUAGE have been moved from /etc/environment to /etc/default/locale, would be more than welcome. Without the bug, I wouldn't have noticed it and might have tried to activate back the variables in /etc/environment at a later point, with possible side effects and strange behaviours. Eric
