Bug#467620: desktop-base: Please consider not failing to install when update-grub2 fails

2010-07-30 Thread Gustavo Franco
Hi,

I'm against strict maintainership in Debian. :) You are free to remove
it from delayed and make it go through directly or we can revisit this
topic during the weekend where I was planning to work with Otavio and
you into d-i related stuff.

 Hi,

failing to install in a chroot (because update-grub can't detect the mbr
and thus not returning 0, which is perfectly legitimit in that specific
case) is serious, as desktop base is a package installed by the desktop
task which is used to built the official debian-live prebuilt images.
 therefore raising the severity.

also, i've uploaded a fixed package to delayed/3. attached is the nmudiff.

 Daniel

Bug#469593: I'm giving up gdebi

2008-07-11 Thread Gustavo Franco
Hi,

This is the first message I ever get from you buddy, what's up? People
answered Rafael in the bug.

Ian Jackson asked me weeks ago and is supposed to be working on an
NMU. Michael Vogt is both upstream and co-maintainer as well. You have
noticed it's problematic in Intrepid, so people may be working on to
fix it and that's a good thing it isn't Lenny as you also pointed out.

Thanks for your help on this and other RCs, really.

and its maintainer is MIA. So I think lenny is better without it.

That's enough. I'm giving up it. I want to work another RC instead of wasting
 my
time and energy with this package. I'm givin' it up.

Amaya; thank you very much for your interest. I'll ping you soon for another

2007-03-02 Thread Gustavo Franco

reassign 410951 r-cran-matchit
tags 410951 pending
thanks

Hi,

I've found that r-other-gking-matchit sarge to etch upgrade fails due
to the relaxed dependency on r-cran-matchit [ Depends: r-base-core (
2.2.0) ], if r-cran-matchit works with r-base-core = 2.4, please
update the Depends field to = 2.4.0.20061125-1, otherwhise
r-other-gking-matchit, r-cran-matchit and maybe others should be
removed.

The error message is due to the missing ldpaths on r-base-core 2.2
that is running in the sarge system and satisfies the r-cran-matchit
dependency. ldpaths exists on r-base-core 2.4 though.

Note that this bug was marked as serious by the maintainer:

Note that the maintainer told the submitter that -10 solves the bug
and -9 isn't in the archive anymore. There's just -10 in both unstable
and testing.

After further Sarge-Etchupgrade testing, it seems that this problem is not
an occasional fluke, but is at best non-deterministic. It needs to be fixed
 properly as described in #404159.

I don't understand what this has to do with sarge-etch upgrade testing
given that php5-ming was not in sarge, hopefully the maintainer can explain
(and explain why this should be a release blocker).

It has nothing to do with sarge-etch and i never wrote that.

I don't think the 'fixed' tag is appropriate here.

This bug is fixed or worked around, but there's still an issue that
needs to be resolved. The issue is that we haven't received the
confirmation from the submitter and the maintainer even telling her
that -10 solves the problem, haven't closed the bug yet. Keep in mind
that there's no upload pending, so i haven't added pending instead
fixed.

Unfortunately, not yet. I think it would be better decide if the current

python-parted has 5 RC bugs and isn't testing so i've other priorities for the

That wouldn't cause this to cease to be a bug in gtkhtml3.6, it would just
mean that the bug in gtkhtml3.6 no longer affects particular packages which
 don't depend on it.

Sure, i shouldn't use the word 'fixed'. I just wanted to point out for bug
squashers, that this bug doesn't need a new gtkhtml3.6 upload after the
submitter ack'ed that gtkhtml3.8 fixes the problem.

Anyway, gtk-sharp2 in testing still depends on gtkhtml3.6, as does gtk-sharp
(libgnome-cil) on arm (because it's out of date). I think the right fix is
to drop gtkhtml3.6 in favor of gtkhtml3.8, but this is not possible yet due
to the reverse dependencies. It could be removed from unstable at the
 maintainer's request, though...

AFAIK, it isn't not possible yet due to peacock (#359114) and probably outdated
stuff in some archs (arm?). The plan is ship only one gtkhtml3.x in Etch, yes.
We've started this transition some time ago, and i'm waiting only Noèl.

Right, it was already reported in #346332. Since this bug doesn't break

read the Severity Levels related documentation[0] or just:

I'm not violating Policy 3.5, because the dependency isn't there yet (as
you can read in #346332) but bzrtools isn't unusable, there are 27

2006-03-21 Thread Gustavo Franco

Hi,

First, for those who care my name is Gustavo Franco. :-)

FYI, it seems that applying those two patches below over the
latest evo in Debian really fix the bug. It was confirmed
by heikkih (Heikki Henriksen), so it seems that we've more than
a workaround.

gtkhtml:

Hope that helps,

Bug#357868: FTBFS: missing b-d on libpng12-dev

You're missing a build depends, I suppose on libpng12-dev.

Hi Martin,

I've fixed the libfreetype problem[0] adding the libpng12-dev as build
depends too in a NMU. It is in incoming right now[1], i've uploaded

it to delayed (7 days ago).

Bug#356810: libcrypt-cbc-perl: behaviour-change; header_iv bugs (both sending as receiving)

2006-03-16 Thread Gustavo Franco

Hi Bas,

There's a new package that was being tested until today, that i'll upload
soon. The problem with the first fix is that we imported too much code
from the upstream fix (2.17), that is broken in a way too.

I wrote the fix from scratch again, ignoring upstream changes. Allard
Hoeve and Robert Lemmen helped with additional tests.

Thanks,
Gustavo Franco - [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#354916: python2.3-sqlobject not installable in unstable (missing formencode)

2006-03-08 Thread Gustavo Franco

Hi Fabio,

Do you know if the python-formencode dependency was introduced in 0.7 ? I'm
asking because 0.6 works well without this in ubuntu.

Considering that python-formencode is a requirement starting with the 0.7
release and we can't upload it yet, if it will take too much time, i think
you should revert back to 0.6 for a while. The rationale is that a 'old' 0.6
installable is better than a 0.7 uninstallable. Comments?

Thanks,
Gustavo Franco - [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'm preparing the upload of formencode, and I hope to have the package
in the NEW queue for tomorrow.

Thank you for the suggestion,

No problem, you're welcome. Thanks for your fast response.

Bug#350419: Uninstallable due to unmet dep on bzr ( 0.7)

 Hi

bzrtools in uninstallable due to an unmet dependency on bzr ( 0.7). You
might want to loosen the dependency as bzr 0.7-2 is already in unstable.

Hi Luk,

Thank you for your report. I'll take a look if there's a bzrtools 0.7
compatible ready. Btw, I can't get rid of bzr ( 0.7), the upstream
warned me about the incompatibility of some features.

Thanks,

Bug#314671: zynaddsubfx: freezes the system if run as root

2005-06-17 Thread Gustavo Franco
Package: zynaddsubfx
Version: 2.2.1-2
Severity: critical
Tags: sarge

Hi Eduardo,

I can run zynaddsubfx as non-root, but running as root it freezes the
system in a way that even running under strace userland tool it isn't
generating any output (stdout or files).

Note that there's a while(1) inside main() but the machine freezes right
after the zynaddsubfx launch, and it doesn't show me the UI, messages in
the stdout, nothing.

Useful information:
- zynaddsubfx is the latest and the depends are updated
- kernel is 2.6.11-1-686-smp (acpi=off, it's a acpi buggy ibm netvista)
- udev is 0.056-3

Best regards,

Bug#300168: solution to the unknown type compiler error

2005-03-24 Thread Gustavo Franco
Hi Christophe,

Is this bug really rendering the package unusable? If not,
please downgrade its severity. It'll help us track the RC
bugs better. btw, are the examples really needed to make this
package work?

If it's really a grave bug, i note that in your last reply
to this you said that you've fixed examples but you
haven't uploaded the package yet. If it's true, this bug
needs to be tagged as 'pending'.

Hope that helps,

Bug#298963: caudium: contains non-free fonts

2005-03-24 Thread Gustavo Franco
Hi Marek,

The free fonts site that you said is corefonts.sf.net.These fonts
aren't free as in DFSG and there's a package at contrib section
called 'msttcorefonts', AFAIK the postinst retrieves the fonts
from the website.

Can't you confirm if caudium works without these and that
other font ? If not we can still try the freefont alternatives or
just replace the references to these fonts and test.

Have you contacted upstream ? If not, please do so and point them
to: http://corefonts.sourceforge.net/eula.htm

Hope that helps,

I know, but the font I meant is not one of the MS fonts. Tere is a third
font there, which was taken from a free site, whose name I cannot remember.

No problem, i focused on MS fonts issue because i think you've clarified
the other font problem in that previous e-mail.

Yes, caudium itself will work without any of the TTF fonts present. Its
config interface (web-based) uses a built-in bitmapped font for rendering of
some controls, the Lucida font is used by default by some modules that
render text, but changing it is not a problem. I will try to remember and
upload a new version that uses bitstream vera this weekend.

Please do, it's a RC bug and we're closer to a freeze. I recommend you
only upload a fix to this problem and not a entire new release. It can
help us putting it on sarge if the freeze came while the uploaded
package sit on sid, ok?

Have you contacted upstream ? If not, please do so and point them
  to: http://corefonts.sourceforge.net/eula.htm
I am one of the upstream authors :) - it wasn't me who put the fonts there,
but I know the situation. I haven't fixed it so far merely because of lack
of time in the past weeks, but I'll get to it asap. Promise.

joke Good to hear, i'm now proud that i haven't started shooting the
upstream authors about this bug. /joke

I can understand this lack of time and it's the main reason that i
haven't tracked RC bugs actively in the last few months, i'm doing it
right now and i think that we're closer to squash this one. When you
prepare the package, if you can't upload it at the same time due the
lack of testing please tag this bug as 'pending'. I think that it's a
trivial bug to solve but if you need help testing, let me known.

Thanks,

Bug#300440: post-installation returns error code 21 if /usr/share/doc/menu/html does not exist

tags 300440 +patch
thanks

Hi Stefan,

I've tracked this bug and with the vorlon and fatalerror help
i reproduced it this way:

- Install dhelp package;
- Install doc-linux-it package;
- Remove or move /usr/share/doc;
- dpkg-reconfigure doc-linux-it. =)

There's patch below that i think can help you fixing this
problem. If you can't upload a new package soon, since it's a RC
bug let me known and i'll do a NMU with this patch.

Hope that helps,
