I tested, but the issue remains.
I 've also set the 'forwarded' field pointing to the upstream issue on
glib2.0 where modemmanager developer explains the problem.

ACK, noticed. I could try to rebuild modemmanager disabling tests for
the sake of completeness.

Let me know if I can help you somehow on triaging this.

My first test is about launching simply telegram-desktop on a terminal;
this is what I get:

= = = = = >8 = = = = =
$ telegram-desktop
Warning: Ignoring XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland on Gnome. Use
QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland to run on Wayland anyway.
error: : cannot open
error: : cannot open
error: : cannot open
The X11 connection broke (error 2). Did the X11 server die?
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
= = = = = >8 = = = = =

If I try to export the variable you referred in your reply, I get:

= = = = = >8 = = = = =
$ QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland telegram-desktop
Warning: Ignoring XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland on Gnome. Use
QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland to run on Wayland anyway.
qt.qpa.plugin: Could not find the Qt platform plugin "wayland" in ""
This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be
initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen,
vnc, xcb.

Aborted (core dumped)
= = = = = >8 = = = = =

Feel free to ping me to gather more information about this behavior
while running on Wayland.

Cheers.

2020-12-09 Thread Matteo F. Vescovi
Package: telegram-desktop
Version: 2.2.0+ds-4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

since last update (-4 revision), the package fails to start on Wayland
GNOME. However, the package works as expected while on Xorg GNOME.

The fix to #975992 seems to be reason of the problem, or maybe related
somehow.

Cheers.

FTR, I mainly use a 4G WWAN connection with an integrated module in my
ThinkPad. Sometimes, I also use home/office Wi-Fi.

I just found few minutes to do some more testing and I discovered that
the weird behavior happens only when an OpenVPN connection is in place,
using any of the connections available (in my case, I was used to set
automatic VPN authentication on WWAN connection).

If I disable the OpenVPN connection before disconnecting WiFi or WWAN
connections, everything works just fine; but if I leave it on (as it
should be, letting the system to manage the situation), the resolv.conf
file got completely wiped, as Cristian reported.

So, probably, the culprit here is the network-manager-openvpn{-gnome}
package, more than NM itself. Should the bug report be re-assigned to
it, then? Let me know, please.

Hope this helps, somehow.

Cheers.

Michael, sorry to say, but Cristian is right:

I see no snide and stupid comments to the bug report and I'm actually
affected by this weird behaviour since a week or so, I must admit.

I'm still digging in to find the culprit (possibly, a particular version
of NM or MM that introduced the issue) but I need some more tests with
alternative setups to fully understand the situation (seems like systems
with both Wi-Fi and WWAN are affected).

I'm gonna let you know my findings in the real hope to fix the problem

Bug#939660: src:field3d: autopkgtest fails if package is rebuilt against ilmbase 2.3.0

2019-09-07 Thread Matteo F. Vescovi
Package: src:field3d
Version: 1.7.2-1
Severity: serious

Dear Maintainer,

while testing all reverse dependencies for the IlmBase transition[1],
your package was FTBFS due to inconsistent linking while running
autopkgtest checks.

Because of it, the package was actually removed from testing suite to
allow the migration of ilmbase library[2].

Digging a little more in the problem, it seems like libfield3d needs to
bump SONAME because its ABI is tied to ilmbase's.

Please, spend some efforts fixing this issue.

Unlucky me, then! :-P

But I'm a DD, I've always run unstable/sid and I'm ok with facing
these issues. No problem at all. ;-)
But it was necessary to report the problem, so other people could
discover it'd be addressed, sooner or later.
Thanks for fixing the issue so quickly!

SONAME bump in IlmBase/OpenEXR libraries is extremely weird and doesn't
reflect the numbering in library name. Strange, but still.
Check numbering and SONAME versioning for ilmbase actually in unstable
and testing. You'll see how there's a pattern for that.

> 2. We have Debian bug tracking system for tracking bugs in packages in

Opening bug reports against packages in experimental which are part of a
transition is useless, in my view. Opening bug reports against packages
in unstable/sid which breaks stuff... that's a real thing.

> 3. libilmbase23 2.3.0-3 is a package in Debian.

Yes, it's a package in Debian... experimental suite, which is not
supposed to be used by users other than developers working on
bleeding-edge/easily-breaking piece of software.

Cheers.

Andreas,

I'll open a specific transition bug report for that, once I've tested all
r-deps but not earlier.

Thus, I'll leave this bug report closed since it tracks another issue (or
feature, at your choice ;) ).

This smells like a graphics card issue; in fact I cannot reproduce it

2017-09-14 Thread Matteo F. Vescovi
Package: epiphany-browser
Version: 3.26.0-1

Dear Maintainer,

I've noticed that, since 3.25.9x version uploaded to experimental suite
for testing purposes in Debian archives, epiphany-browser has an
annoying issue related to bad lags while typing web addresses in the URL
bar.

I must admit that nothing similar has happened with former releases,
mainly 3.22.x.

This bug has been marked with a severity of 'serious' to avoid the
migration of the package to testing/buster for early checking.

Cheers.

I was about to open a bug report against gcc-6.

Done right now.

Thanks a lot for the heads up.

Right. Done with this follow-up.
The package is fixed about the OpenJPEG issue but something connected with
the manpage creation is failing now. Gonna dig in it within today or
tomorrow.

Your analysis is correct.
What happened here is that with commit [1] there was an attempt to bump
mixxx to use Qt5, but upstream declared it was too early for production use
and with commit [2] a revert was made but it didn't reset the dependency
for the binary package.

I'm going to fix it asap.

Cheers.

Gosh, you're right. Fixing it now on a new revision. Uploading that later
today.

I could work on it next week, but if the IlmBase/OpenEXR transition would
start first, then I could upload the expetimental version to unstable/sid,
dropping the issue.

Thanks for pointing this out.

Since this bug is blocking GLEW transition, I've just uploaded a NMU
revision to DELAYED/5.

Pau, feel free to ask to drop it if you're about fixing it on your own
soon.

Bug#777870: intent to NMU to unstable

Yep, go for it! No problem.

If you're intending to upgrade to the experimental version when the dust
has settled, there will be little or nothing to merge - I think all of
my changes were just cherry-picks from things you already did in
 experimental.

Good.

If you do need to do more work on gegl 0.2 in unstable for whatever
reason, I'd suggest basing it on my stretch git branch. I'll leave it
available in ~smcv/public_git/gegl.git on Alioth, or I can push it to
your collab-maint repo if you want that.

Perfect. Thanks.

Cheers.

g++-5 is now the default g++, so this is release-critical (gegl FTBFS
in unstable). This will be a problem soon for the libilmbase6v5 and
libopenexr6v5 transitions, and the libstdc++6 transition in general.

I've done a non-maintainer upload to DELAYED/2 with this, and some
other obvious changes cherry-picked from experimental. Debdiff attached.
Please tell me if I should reschedule or cancel this.

My proposed changes are also available as the stretch branch in:
 git+ssh://git.debian.org/git/users/smcv/gegl.git

Thanks for taking care of this.

Hard for me to find spare time to work on this right now, so let your
NMU follow its path and I'll merge the changes in the future, if it
makes sense given that GEGL 0.3.0 is on its way to get a transition to
unstable/sid once the gcc-5 transition has finished.

Cheers.

Upgrading the gjs package to the version in experimental (as you can see

Marking severity to serious to prevent the package to migrate, before
the problem is fixed (mainly, upstream).

Bug#774891: [Pkg-gtkpod-devel] Bug#774891: gtkpod: unhandled symlink to directory conversion: /usr/share/doc/PACKAGE

2015-01-12 Thread Matteo F. Vescovi
Hi!

On 2015-01-08 at 19:00 (CET), Andreas Beckmann wrote:
 Hi,

an upgrade test with piuparts revealed that your package installs files
over existing symlinks and possibly overwrites files owned by other
packages. This usually means an old version of the package shipped a
symlink but that was later replaced by a real (and non-empty)
directory. This kind of overwriting another package's files cannot be
 detected by dpkg.

This was observed on the following upgrade paths:

   squeeze - wheezy - jessie

Well, actually the issue exists in the upgrade path:

squeeze - wheezy

between a package not maintained by me (the older) and one prepared by
me (the newer).

For /usr/share/doc/PACKAGE this may not be problematic as long as both
packages are installed, ship byte-for-byte identical files and are
upgraded in lockstep. But once one of the involved packages gets
removed, the other one will lose its documentation files, too,
including the copyright file, which is a violation of Policy 12.5:
 https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s-copyrightfile

This issue is relevant in the upgrade of squeeze - wheezy packages,
while it's not present in second-stage upgrade path, that is
wheezy - jessie.

For other overwritten locations anything interesting may happen.

Note that dpkg intentionally does not replace directories with symlinks
and vice versa, you need the maintainer scripts to do this.
See in particular the end of point 4 in
 https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-unpackphase

It is recommended to use the dpkg-maintscript-helper commands
 'dir_to_symlink' and 'symlink_to_dir' (available since dpkg 1.17.14)
to perform the conversion, ideally using d/$PACKAGE.mainstscript.
Do not forget to add 'Pre-Depends: ${misc:Pre-Depends}' in d/control.
See dpkg-maintscript-helper(1) and dh_installdeb(1) for details.

The only issue here is that, given that the bug affects the version in
wheezy, dpkg there is not 1.17.14 but 1.16.15 and it lacks the
dpkg-maintscript-helper commands. So I need to find another solution to
this problem.

From the attached log (usually somewhere in the middle...):

 [...]

 cheers,

 Andreas

I really hope to find a smart solution to this soon.

Cheers.

I'll add the above mentioned b-dep in next revision (or release), but
surely we need to wait for yaml-cpp transition issue to be fixed to

official mixxx site (1.11.0-bzr3863-ppa1~oneiric1), and works fine.

So I compare it and this sid package (1.11.0~dfsg-1), then notice
missing libraries. Coping the plugin from my wheezy to sid

   /usr/lib/mixxx/plugins/vamp/libmixxxminimal.so

 and installing the package

   libvamp-sdk2

then the mixxx can detect BPM and beat.

Hmm... I guess this has been a fault of mine :-(
I didn't check for any new file installed with this new version and
missed that library, since former versions didn't have any library at
all.

Alessio already pushed a commit fixing this.

Thanks for reporting and your efforts in solving this issue.

Cheers.

 pkgkde-symbolshelper from the pkg-kde-tools package.

I guess it's better for now to completely remove the symbols file and
wait for all the architectures to build correctly before merging all the
symbols altogether.

So, I'm gonna close this bug report with next upload removing that file.
I hope to fix it soon.

Maybe because I'm completely unable to handle them correctly :-(

Working on a new revision right now.

Bug#660850: gnome-scan: fails building against gegl 0.1.x and babl 0.1.x

2012-02-22 Thread Matteo F. Vescovi
Package: gnome-scan
Version: 0.6.2-1.1
Severity: serious
Tags: upstream
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

Dear Maintainer,

I'm about uploading (to experimental suite first) new babl (0.1.6) and
gegl (0.1.8) libraries.
I've tested the build process of dependent packages and gnome-scan seems
to fails because of changes in upstream source code. Also the structure
of the source has changed from older versions (e.g., modules have been
splitted in different sub-directories).

Actual upstream git repository[1] has a new maybe-devel release (0.7.2)
that includes a fix[2] for this issue.

It would be great if you could use this info to port a working fix on
actual debian package... or even upgrade to the devel snapshot.

Thanks for your time and efforts.

We prevented migration to testing for a reason... and it was this one:
segmentation fault.

Now, I see that you forced the upgrade on your testing box.

OK, perfect.

I don't have sparc platform at all, so seeing error log would help a

Sure! You can see logs for all the supported architectures at:

Good to know.

Still can see some issues related on REG_EIP and mcontext_t things.
Not sure if that build errors happens with 0011-fix_FTBFS_with_libmv
applied?

Yep, those logs are referred to the first build session at the beginning
of January... and being official, there're not updated with testing builds.

Also think error of hurd-i386 should be fixed. At least this function
has got valid return value in current trunk.

OK.

Probably compilation error on powerpc is also fixed in svn rev43719.

That would be great.

Would be nice to check for updated build logs after all this my changes.

Feel free to send us your patches fixing these issues and we'll be very
happy to test them and let you know the results of the testing re-builds.

Bug#642666: gtkpod: FTBFS: itdb.h

2011-09-26 Thread Matteo F. Vescovi

reassign 642666 libgpod-dev 0.8.2-3
affects 642666 gtkpod
thanks

-

Package: libgpod-dev
Version: 0.8.2-3
Severity: Serious

[Michael Biebl found the problem. Thanks a lot, Michael!]

To find what's wrong with the building process:

cat /usr/lib/pkgconfig/libgpod-1.0.pc | grep imobile

and it references libimobiledevice-1.0, as you can see.

So, libgpod-dev needs to depend on libimobiledevice-dev for one,
otherwise pkg-config can not resolve the CFLAGS/LIBS for libgpod.

The dependencies of libgpod-dev look incorrect.
It depends on libglib2.0-dev and libgtk2.0-dev, but the .pc file has:

glib-2.0 = 2.8.0 gobject-2.0 gdk-pixbuf-2.0 libimobiledevice-1.0

which would be something like:

Depends: libglib2.0-dev, libgdk-pixbuf2.0-dev, libimobiledevice-dev

either the .pc file is incorrect or the package dependencies.

HTH.
