Bug#750621: swig3.0 required
Package: swig Version: 2.0.7-3 Severity: serious Please package swig3.0.2 ASAP. The introduction of g++ 4.8/4.9 in the archive makes c++11 enabled swig wrapper code fail to compile like https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=746893 swig3.0 fixes this and is a hard requirement to get such packages fixed / keep them in testing. This is not a bug in shogun itself but just requires a rebuild with swig3.0 (supporting c++11 properly with gcc4.9) which still needs to be packaged https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=750621 -- For the one fact about the future of which we can be certain is that it will be utterly fantastic. -- Arthur C. Bug#720570: shogun: Please stop using openjdk-6-*
yes indeed for the moment we won't have interfaces packaged at all so this is obsolete. This dependency seems already removed by your packaging changes for splitting shogun in to separate libshogun and interface packages. You are right - I was just lazy :/ Because that's what seems to be crashing, as called by dpkg-shlibdeps, as called by dh_shlibdeps. But here objdump is a binary.. Anyway, it's either objdump or dpkg-shlibdeps that is crashing, and the actual bug may well be in perl. From the logs it seems to me that both objdump and perl crash here - so if you agree this should rather be assigned to perl / binutils. You can use dh_shlibdeps -d to get the dpkg-shlibdeps command line, run that with -v to get the objdump command line, and chase down which program is actually crashing that way. I am not really sure what you suggest here: ssh into some s390x machine and build things manually then ran the dh_shlibdeps? And the bad thing about it is that shogun would compile on all these archs if dependencies would become available (as they were) and clang would work on powerpc. The only other option I see is to split up shogun into several independent source package - one for each of its interfaces and to build it separately for any of those. That however is a lot of work I cannot currently do. Bug#645249: shogun: FTBFS: modular wrappers too large to compile
On Thu, 2011-10-13 at 15:43 -0400, Aaron M. Ucko wrote: Source: shogun Version: 1.0.0-1 Severity: serious Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past) Builds of shogun have failed on several architectures because SWIG's output proved too much for their compilers to handle; per https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=shogunsuite=sid the build blew out on ruby on s390 and on octave on i386, ia64, powerpc, and sparc. Could you please take a look? Yeah I know... version 1.0 currently requires (depending on language) between 1.5 and 3.5 GB (for C++ heavy octave) to compile... Ucko wrote: Soeren Sonnenburg so...@debian.org writes: Yeah I know... version 1.0 currently requires (depending on language) between 1.5 and 3.5 GB (for C++ heavy octave) to compile... Yikes! I hate that too... Before 1.0 we had multiple swig modules which generated lots of issues (octave crashes, compiler errors for the newly supported languages) so we are now better using what is well tested... I am not really sure what to do about this - the generated swig wrappers are ~18MB (500 kLoC) in size. Good question. Reducing the wrappers' optimization level might help, and not even necessarily impact runtime performance too heavily, as the underlying library will remain fully optimized. That indeed helps a bit already (and also speeds up compilation by a couple of factors). Another option could be to split the wrappers into multiple compilation units; I don't know how involved that would be in this case, though. Hmmhh, I also thought about that. I think this is the only real chance without loosing functionality - so I will ask on the swig mailinglist... Bug#598143: IOError: failed to write data
Package: libapache2-mod-wsgi Severity: grave Tags: squeeze I've just upgraded a web-server that uses apache / wsgi / django to serve content, noticing that with this newer version of wsgi (version 3.x) operation becomes very unreliable: After just a few connects all further connections just hang (lsof -n -i lists them in close_wait state). Trying to find a solution for that problem I found http://forum.webfaction.com/viewtopic.php?id=3619 which exactly matches what I observe (there is no nown solution it seems). It could be an interaction bug between django and wsgi as stated here http://code.djangoproject.com/ticket/10046 So I compiled+installed the lenny version of wsgi (2.5) on squeeze and this problem is gone! This makes me confident that this bug is in wsgi and not django. Bug#584366: not a bug...
There is really no bug in atlas here. If it is trying to build packages with all the fancy optimizations enabled - it will simply need a machine that has all of these. Bug#581621: is this a bug?
could it be that this buildd was just busy/swapping and simply requires 300minutes to compile that file? Soeren -- For the one fact about the future of which we can be certain is that it will be utterly fantastic. -- Arthur C. Bug#581620: again not a bug
looks like it need a newer hppa machine to build. the package compiled perfectly fine on peri.debian.org but failed on the presumably oder lafayette.debian.org So I guess a rebuild on peri would fix this issue... Since atlas 3.8 is sooo much faster than the obsoleted 3.6, I tend to say that lapack/blas should be used on these old archs instead. Bug#580923: a locked gnome-screensaver can be circumvented by inserting a pluggable media
On Mon, 2010-05-10 at 09:00 +0200, Luca Falavigna wrote: Hi, Hi Luca, I tried to reproduce this behaviour but after inserting a USB pendrive, screensaver is still active, and when I type password I see disk has been mounted correctly. I use gdm3, though, do you still use gdm_2.20.10-3? I am using gdm3 too. So I just tried to reproduce it again with a fresh login - but indeed I couldn't trigger this behavior today (everything works as expected...). I recall that *yesterday* I triggered this with a usb harddisk with multiple partitions and since I see a short flickering when I insert a usb stick it could be timing related - but I have no longer an idea how to reliably trigger this. I would expect you can trust anyone having physical access to a computer with autologin enabled, so it doesn’t matter in terms of security. If someone you don’t trust has access to your computer when you turn away from it, he might also reboot it and benefit from the autologin. I’m not implying it’s not a bug. If you logged off, you don’t necessarily want the session to restart, so this is definitely one. But it has no security implications. Normally you would be right, but you missed one case (the only one for which I consider autologin useful and for which I use it here): Encrypted filesystem (root/home). So directly after booting you enter your system password and it is just annoying to type your user password again. In this case logging off really - $SHELL has security implications. Also, what printer are you using and how is it set up (an IP printer, printing to another CUPS server, local USB printer, etc.)? it is an ip printer. cups from stable works reliably... what other info do you need? The make and model of the printer would be helpful. So would the output of lpstat -t -p printer-name (substituting the actual printer name), and the relevant parts of the cups error log. Also, anything else that you think might be relevant: if you configured cups or the printer in an unusual or special way, those settings, for example. This does not happen with just a single printer, but the 2 postscript network printers I have here (HP Color LaserJet 4700 and a xerox phaser 6180dn). The HP is accessed via lpd:// and the xerox via socket://ip:9100 Ideally, if I had the printer in question, I would have enough information to be able to reproduce the problem. At the moment, I don't even know whether I own such a printer (since I don't know what type it is), and as I said, cups works for me. Since this is an RC bug, I'd like to have the maintainers and other RC bug-fixers be able to have all the information they need at hand to solve the problem. There is nothing unusual in my settings (I just added the printers... - default settings duplex). My guess is that the sole cause is pstopdf - I mean printing works as soon as I downgrade to cups from stable. I've already applied this workaround in shogun svn-trunk (but it is not solely shogun that is failing to build because of this doxygen change). If there is anything I can help with to fix this, please let me know. Anyway, I will keep the bug open and will hand pick a number of useful patches from shogun-svn-trunk and make a new upload somewhen in the next 1-2 weeks. tag 568612 + patch thanks On Fri, 2010-02-05 at 23:58 -0600, Jonathan Nieder wrote: Soeren Sonnenburg wrote: On Fri, 2010-02-05 at 23:26 -0600, Jonathan Nieder wrote: From http://bugs.debian.org/564338 I learn that this is due to a known problem in doxygen, and the workaround is to add SEARCHENGINE= NO to the .doxy files in src/modular. Since doxygen is not fixed yet and it is useful to be able to rebuild shogun, would it be possible to implement this or some other workaround? I've already applied this workaround in shogun svn-trunk (but it is not solely shogun that is failing to build because of this doxygen change). If there is anything I can help with to fix this, please let me know. Anyway, I will keep the bug open and will hand pick a number of useful patches from shogun-svn-trunk and make a new upload somewhen in the next 1-2 weeks. That’s good to hear. If I find time for it, I’ll look at the doxygen bug a little more. The upstream status is “will be fixed in the next svn commit”, so probably there’s a patch floating around somewhere. Well I am upstream too and it is already in svn-trunk ... I am attaching the patch from svn... However, considering how long shogun builds I would rather move it to python2.6 and include other patches, but I simply don't have time to do it in the next 5 days. Bug#557601: v1.2.8 fixes a security problem in v1.2 releases.
Package: dovecot Severity: critical Tags: security from http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot-news/2009-November/000143.html This is mainly to fix the 0777 base_dir creation issue, which could be considered a security hole, exploitable by local users. An attacker could for example replace Dovecot's auth socket and log in as other users. Gaining root privileges isn't possible though. Bug#516394: so what is the solution?
Package: djbdns Followup-For: Bug #516394 Not sure if any of the previous reporters actually read http://cr.yp.to/djbdns/forgery.html , but it occurs to me as if this problem is a problem in the current DNS protocol that cannot be prevented *at all*. However, it can be made significantly harder to exploit though the definition of hard means here for send thousands/millions/billions of packets to exploit the problem. Thus I am not sure if this is a bug in djbdns (not more than it is a bug in telnet that sniffing packets gets you the session in cleartext) - maybe dnssec/dnscurve http://dnscurve.org/ would help. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers stable APT policy: (700, 'stable'), (650, 'testing'), (600, 'unstable'), (500, 'oldstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.29-rc8-git-sonne (SMP w/2 CPU cores; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages djbdns depends on: ii libc6 2.9-6 GNU C Library: Shared libraries Versions of packages djbdns recommends: ii daemontools 1:0.76-3 a collection of tools for managing ii daemontools-run 1:0.76-3 daemontools service supervision ii make 3.81-5 The GNU version of the make util ii ucspi-tcp 1:0.88-2 command-line tools for building TC Versions of packages djbdns suggests: pn dnscache-run none (no description available) -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. For me it helps to add -Xmx256m to the java call in the postinst script, like if ! $basedir/bin/java -client -Xshare:dump -Xmx256m -XX:PermSize=128m $log; then Not sure if 256m are required or less might be enough though. There is no way to fix this FTBS problem in shogun, except disabling the build for the shogun-octave-modular package, which effectively requires removal of that package. However as swig 1.3.36 has no release critical bugs (to the contrary it contains many bug fixes) I would prefer it to migrate to lenny instead of removing shogun-octave-modular from lenny. I neither see this problem with 2.22.2 nor 2.22.1 on a full gnome desktop... it might be your local setup, did you try whether the problem for a fresh new user? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Version: 0.90.2-1 ttconv/truetype.h requires an #include stdio.h at the top of the file then matplotlib compiles through using gcc4.3 The version you reported the bug is a really old one (yesterday was uploaded version 0.91.2-1). Now I cannot check the error (since I'm not at home, I can do only this evening) but may you kindly try to replicate the error with the newest version available in sid? Ahh sorry I meant 0.91.2-1 (typo on my side), and the fix was meant for the very latest sid one, see http://buildd.debian.org/~jeroen/status/package.php?suite=unstablep=matplotlib it fails everywhere where gcc4.3 is default. Bug#476718: patch
tag 476718 + patch thanks this is the (trivial) patch to fix the problem. Note that the patch conservatively assumes that swig won't work with python2.6 so it requires =2.4 2.6. Also guile-1.6 is no longer current, so it shifts build-deps to guile-1.8 and while we are at it: it would be nice to include the patch from swig-svn r10376 fixing a crasher for octave+directors.
