Bug#799843: googleearth-package: geerated package depends on lsb-core which is not available on sid

2015-09-23 Thread alberto maurizi
Package: googleearth-package
Version: 1.2.2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

it looks like that recently lsb-core disappeared from sid but the package
generated by googleearth-package depends on it.

This makes googleearth uninstallable.

Bug#785255: ardour3: ardour segfault

2015-05-13 Thread alberto maurizi
Package: ardour3
Version: 4.0~dfsg1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear maintainer,

ardour3 (that provides /usr/bin/ardour4, right?) segfault
when starting (both an existing session or a new one).

What I noticed is:
1. it does not start jackd anymore (as it was used to do)
2. if I start manually jackd before ardour, it stops complaining about jackd
but then segfault just after start.

Before segfaulting it says (don't know if relevan or not):
Found nothing along
/home/alberto/.config/ardour4/templates:/usr/share/ardour4/templates

I also tried 'strace' but I could not find any enlightenment.
I only noticed (randomly)
open("/usr/lib/ardour4/libgomp.so.1", O_RDONLY|O_CLOEXEC) = -1 ENOENT (No such
file or directory)
access("/etc/ld.so.nohwcap", F_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)

Bug#574697: dbus-x11: dbus segfaults when closing ppp connections using network-manager

Package: dbus-x11
Version: 1.2.22-1

After last upgrade in sid, dbus segaults when interacting with
network-manager. An excerpt form my syslog is attached.

Note that after the segfault I'm unable to run any application relying
on hal (not even restarting dbus and then hal works). I'm sure this
started few days ago just after un upgrade that involved dbus while it
was very stable before.

Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel

After last upgrade, it seems that any operation (opening,
resizing, moving a window) Causes Xorg to eat 99% of CPU rosource.

This makes the **whole** system unusable.
This was verified under gnome and also under xfc4 tosee if the problem
was related to the window manager.

Bug#524607: xserver-xorg: Ctrl+Alt+F1 kills X rather to switch to console

2009-04-18 Thread alberto maurizi
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.3+18
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

The probles is exactly as described in the subject:
X is killed by the sequence Ctrl+Alt+F whichever .

This also affects "hibernate" becasue when hibernate wants to switch to
console while freezing the status, X is killed, login manager restarted
and then hibernate hangs.

The "testing" version does not displey this bug.

The reason for tagging as critical this bug comes from the fact that if
one relies on the expected behaviour user data in open X application get
lost when switching to console or hibernating.

Bug#523567: gnome-core: gnome uninstallable due to dependencies

2009-04-10 Thread alberto maurizi
Package: gnome-core
Version: 1:2.24.3~1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Maybe the problem is more related to capplets-data, maybe no.
Not sure because new version of capplets-data has been just released
that does not resolve the problem.

This is the series of dependencies that prevents gnome to be installed:
capplets-data recommends gnome-control-center (>= 1:2.24.0.1-3)
gnome-control-center depends on capplets-data (<< 1:2.23)
gnome-control-center depends on libgnome-desktop-2 (>= 2.22.0)
libgnome-desktop-2 does not appear to be available

under /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/ path I can see a "charge_full"

Bug#484467: cpufreqd fails when loading battery status

2008-07-29 Thread alberto maurizi
Package: cpufreqd
Followup-For: Bug #484467

Because it uses "obsolete" /proc/acpi/battery, cpufreqd fails to start:
Jul 29 11:44:30 krsna cpufreqd: acpi_battery_init: error, acpi_battery
module not compiled or inserted (/proc/acpi/battery/: No
such file or directory)?
Jul 29 11:44:30 krsna cpufreqd: acpi_battery_init: exiting.

By the way, if /proc/acpi is obsolete, why it still exists (but does not
contain battery/ anmore)?

I confirm: gnome-power-manager hibernates my laptop for battery
charge below 3%.

Sorry for Sven (Luther) :)

In case I can help you with debugging/testing, let me know.

Bug#472800: uptades (Re: Bug#472800: gnome-power-manager: same behaviour on sony vaio tz21mn)

2008-07-22 Thread alberto maurizi

I will try again to check whether my laptop hibernates or not,
and let you know in a while.

I would like to know whether it is possible that the
gnome-power-manager behaviour is influenced by some other
power-management related packages.

I'm not sure I understand the rationale for power-management and
I feel always unecure on this ground, for instance if some
package can manage power events instead of gnome-power-manager.

In my computer I found:
- acpid installed but acpi-support not installed
- powernowd (that actually I do not undestand and don't know if
it interacts with gnome-power-manager to set frequencies)
- cpufrequtils (suggested by pm-utils)
- powermgmt-base and pm-utils that seem to be required by
  system-level packages

Is this relevant?

I noticed recently that the problem has gone.
My laptop hibernated when battery power is critically low.

If you do not have any other bug report on this problem you
may close this bug.

Package: gnome-power-manager
Version: 2.22.0-1
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

When battery power is critically low, it does nothing instead of
performing the action specified in the configuration (hibernate).

This causes the computer to remain without power at all.
User data can be lost.

Bug#369547: gfortran: strange behaviour in unformatted writing

2006-05-30 Thread Alberto Maurizi
Package: gfortran
Version: 4:4.0.3-4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I'm not sure this is a bug but I could not find any documentation of
this anomalous behaviuor.

Below you find two programs:
qaz.f
zaq.f

qaz.f writes 3 integers in un unformatted file
zaq.f reads three integers from the file

if both qaz.f and zaq.f are compiled with gfortran, everithing seems to
work, however:
- the file is 28 bytes while I expected it to be 20 bytes:
4 bytes per integer + EOR + EOF (in fact 20 bytes is what g77
  or ifort writes)
- if I write the file using a gfortran compiled version ov qaz.f
  and read with a g77 o ifort compiled verison of zaq.f, I
  obtain
i=0 j=1 k=2
  instead of
i=1 j=2 k=3

Bug#365124: gnucash does not start at all: further info

2006-04-28 Thread Alberto Maurizi

I managed to start gnucash.

The problem seems to be the lock file.
When I tried to start it, gnucash warned me that it could not
obtain lock for the file I asked to open.
When I tell it to "Open Anyway", it hung.

Then I tried again by creating a new (fake) file and the opening
the original one: it worked.

Augh!

Bug#335511: xpostit: "Show All Notes" does not show anything

2005-10-24 Thread Alberto Maurizi
Package: xpostit
Version: 3.3.1-8
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

If I create a note, write some stuff, select "Hide All Notes"
then the "Show All Note" function does not make them to appear
again (they are basically lost if unsaved). The only way to make
them to appear again is to save them, exit xpostit and re-open
it.

The same if I use "Left Mouse Button + CTRL key".

Bug#304475: elinks: filling form impossible

2005-04-13 Thread Alberto Maurizi
Package: elinks
Version: 0.10.2-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

When trying to fill in forms, the keystroke are bound by elinks as
elinks shortcuts to commands.
As an example, in the debian packages section on www.debian.org, if I
try to type "elinks" in the "Search package directories" section:
typing "e" open a navigation menu (go back, go forward, ...)

This started some times ago.

Hi Justin,

I applied the patch to the latest version of gmemusage available
"chez" debian source repository (unstable branch) and it works fine!

Thank you very much for you work,
Alberto
