Phillip, Thanks for your quick reply. It was as you had said, that libtesseract3 had not been updated. This must be a problem with apt- get as I had just updated using it before I sent the bug report in and libtesseract3 had not been updated as I wanted to make sure that the bug had not already been fixed. I've been using apt-get because aptitude has been failing me for at least a year and I'd just given up on using it. It would get to the point of checking which packages needed to be updated and then just run on for a half hour or so until it would finally stall and I've have to close it using Ctrl-C. Then, miracle of miracles today aptitude worked when I tried it after realizing apt-get wasn't updating all the packages. It updated over 300 packages that apt-get has been missing. Sorry to have sent you more work on such a stupid basis. Joe
