Bug#1080330: coreutils: who no longer works

2024-09-20 Thread Adilson dos Santos Dantas
Hi.

I think that this bug should be closed since they re-enable utmp support in
systemd.

systemd (256.6-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Helmut Grohne ]
  * salsa-ci: test the stage1 build profile

  [ Simon Chopin ]
  * Filter out zdev rules in the initramfs hook (LP: #2044104). s390-tools
has its own initramfs customization logic that deals with those files.

  [ Luca Boccassi ]
  * Re-enable utmp support, tmux's autopkgtests require it. This will
break as logind writing into utmp will wrap around, so Trixie won't be
y2038 ready after all
  * New upstream version 256.6
  * Note systemd-cryptsetup package split in NEWS (Closes: #1079644)

 -- Luca Boccassi Tue, 10 Sep 2024 18:28:21 +0200

I got this same who problem with systemd 256.5-2 and it fixed downgrading
to 256.5-1. But it's working now after upgrading to 256.6-1.

Bug#1076729: libwayland: breaks plasma desktop start after last upgrade to version 1.23.0-1

2024-07-24 Thread Jaycee Santos
According to [1], rebuilding kwin fixes the issue.
Will the auto-kwayland transition[2] handle this?

Bug#1038611: lightdm: Lightdm fails to start X after upgrade to 1.32.0

2023-06-21 Thread Adilson dos Santos Dantas
I tested with the nouveau driver and it worked.

Maybe there is something between 1.26 and 1.32 that conflicts with nvidia
driver.

And it is also similar to #996503 which affects sddm and it worked too with
nouveau.

I tried to fix this by removing some module options from
https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/display-manager-sddm-lightdm-not-starting-with-nvidia-driver/243992
but it had no effect.

Maybe forwarding this to nvidia-driver should get some hints about this
issue.

Adilson

Bug#1038611: lightdm: Lightdm fails to start X after upgrade to 1.32.0

2023-06-20 Thread Adilson dos Santos Dantas
Hi Yves-Alexis,

I tried to use 1.32 again and it only generates /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log.
It doesn't generate seat0-greeter.log and x-0.lo. From the log attached
below, one difference is that 1.26 starts seat0 and 1.32 does not start it.
I got an X session from 1.26 and X does not even start from 1.32.

Regards,

Adilson

Dear Maintainer,

After upgrading lightdm to the latest upstream version (1.32.0-2) fails to
start X session leading only to console mode.

Downgrading to 1.26.0-8, from testing, fixes this bug.

Bug#1034160: The regression is back to kscreenlocker

2023-04-11 Thread Adilson dos Santos Dantas
I got this bug again after upgrading to qt5 5.15.8+dfsg-6. The same
behavior of plasma screen locker freezing and showing the message to use
loginctl to unlock.

Downgrading to 5.15.8+dfsg-5 solves it. Since it affects this package
again, I'm reopening this bug report.

Package: libkscreenlocker5

Dear Maintainer,

After some libraries updates, I cannot lock my plasma session anymore.

It shows a black screen with a message asking to go to a virtual terminal and
run a 'loginctl unlock-session 2' or similar to unlock the screen.

This is happening with my desktop and my notebook. Even with a reboot this

Bug#966812: keepass2: Keepass2 crashes at startup after system update

2020-08-02 Thread Adilson dos Santos Dantas
Package: keepass2
Version: 2.45+dfsg-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

After update my system packages, keepas2 stops working. It simply crashes at
startup. Maybe is something related to libc6 with mono. I'm attaching the crash
report below to check if the problem is with current keepass packages or it is
something with mono runtime.

Best regards,

Adilson

Bug#871629: why is the fixed version not available in Sid

I upgraded to the fixed package this morning. And it is still listed in Sid.

Try 'apt-get update' and 'apt-get -s install thunderbird' to check if it
will download the latest version. If not try another mirror.

And also remember to run this command:

apt-mark hold thunderbird

This prevents installing the bugged package again. When they fix it, just
run

apt-get install thunderbird

Bug#857029: thunderbird: tries to migrate nonexistent ~/.icedove due to unintended meaning of "\ #" syntax

2017-03-07 Thread Adilson dos Santos Dantas

Adding my "Me too!" here.

Since I rebuild thunderbird from Ubuntu, it always used ~/.thunderbird
folder. So, after this second debian-based package it breaks with the
dialog about "An existing profile.."

Creating a symlink to ~/.icedove shows the same message. But removing
the "\ #" comments fixes it.

Bug#799840: libpam-smbpass: installed libpam-smbpass break all local login

2015-09-24 Thread Adilson dos Santos Dantas
It happens with me too.

When I upgraded my home computer, it installs this libpam-smbpass version
and I cannot log in anymore. Even with ssh it cuts the connection when the
authentication suceeded. And the error messages are all the same 'double
free or corruption'

The problem was fixed after booting with a live system, do a chroot and
downgrade samba.

the root is in a lvm, but lvm volume group isn't activated on boot time,
then i need run on the busybox:

lvm vgscan
lvm vgchange -ay

after run these commands and exit of busybox system boot correct.

I've tried regenerate the initramfs with:
---
update-initramfs -u
---
but no solve the problem.

I think that this is irrelevant but... I've ArchLinux installed on
other lvm partition and it work perfect.

Bug#678438: systemd-sysv: LVM2 partitions + physical partition /boot not mounted on boot: recovery mode

2012-06-21 Thread Silvério Santos
Package: systemd-sysv
Version: 44-2

Justification: breaks the whole system

LVM2 partitions /home, /usr/, /var, /tmp/, swap and physical partition /boot
not mounted on boot, while LVM2 partition / is mounted. Manually mounting all
the missing partitions in recovery mode makes the system successfully conclude
booting. Changing boot system to upstart resolves the issue.

Bug#500325: xorp: FTBFS: Not using -fPIC to generate shared lib.

2008-10-05 Thread Jose Manuel dos Santos Calhariz
The configure command have two options: --enable-shared and --with-pic

I have tried --with-pic in a i386 arch and the shared libraries didn't
have code without -fPIC. The xorp-user mailing list suggested to use
"--enable-shared" for what seams to be the same problem [1], with an
older version compiling in FreeBSD.

So I sent to the same mailing-list a question about the differences of
the two options.

Looking inside configure command the differences are real, but minimal
for a Linux system. So in the end could be better adding option
"--with-pic" to the configure command than adding -fPIC to the
compiler options.

Great! Thanks. I'll fix the warning as well.

So is it ok to have a .orig tarball and no .diff? Since i keep the
debian/ files in the same repository whenever i package no patch is
required.

  Thanks again,
Hugo

Bug#466838: Help with build issue

2008-07-07 Thread Hugo Santos
Hi guys,

I'm the developer (and maintainer) of the debian package "mrd6".
Recently i had a small issue with building on S390 (issues with
handling size_t). Unfortunately due to time constraints this went
unfixed for some months but i would like to finally close this problem
(bug #466838). I was wondering if someone with access to a S390 system
could try and build the package (on etch or newer) to check if the
issue is fixed. I'm asking so i don't make the upload a trial and
error procedure. :-)

You can find the tentative version to be upload at:
http://fivebits.net/~hugo/mrd6-build/

  Thanks in advance,
Hugo

Bug#466838: mrd6 - FTBFS: error: call of overloaded 'stream_type_format_parameter(const long unsigned int&)' is ambiguous

2008-07-04 Thread Hugo Santos
Hi Lior,

Like i mentioned before this should be fixed in the upstream source.
However i've prepared the debian package to be uploaded, you can fetch
it from:

  http://fivebits.net/~hugo/mrd6-build/

As i said in the previous email, fixing this issue was non-trivial
due to particularities of S390, size_t there is different from
everywhere else. Not having a S390 system available to test the
compilation with reduces it very much into a trial and error procedure
i'm afraid.

Anyway, let met know if there's anything else i can do.

  Thanks,
Hugo

Bug#431605: korganizer: Many events without hours associated in a single day disappear

2007-11-09 Thread Alex Henry Ribeiro dos Santos
Package: korganizer
Version: 4:3.5.7-4
Followup-For: Bug #431605

Hey there,
It's been quite a while since I first reported this bug.
Anyway, it keeps happening despite my periodical updates.
Upon further examination of the issue, I've seen the only events
disappearing are the ones that share the same day with many other.
For example: having 10 events crowded in the same day will eventualy
erase them all automatically.

Note these events never have associated hours.

Other events, with or without associated hours, that are in other days,
are not affected.

I'm posting at the end of the email an illustrative collection of
fragments of the events that disappeared from my std.ics

You may note that all/many of these events have the same category, and
that it's name has a non-standard character ('á'). Maybe it has something
to do with the bug, maybe not.

I thank all again for the great software and great work, but this is a
serious issue with permanent data loss! Please take this into
consideration when reading my report.

Please contact me if there's anything else I can do to help.

Bug#431605: korganizer: events disappear

2007-07-03 Thread Alex Henry Ribeiro dos Santos
Package: korganizer
Version: 4:3.5.5.dfsg.1-6
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

Hey there. I've been an enormous fan of korganizer - it really helped me get
things organized and made.
Compliments made, let me add that I rely a lot on it daily for personal and
professional use. That's why I've been so
surprised and sad to see that my events kept disappearing for no reason at all,
even using a Debian testing version
(which shouldn't be unstable).
I haven't looked too much on the problem, but I do suspect the version I'm
using now erases events created on older
versions which are still present in the .ics file.
I'll be sending one of my backup .ics files as soon I can - every time I open
it, it shows all events, but on the
first save, they're gone again (which is a real problem when auto-save is on).
Copying and pasting those events dosen't seem to help, but creating a brand new
event and then copying+pasting the
information across the old and new event do seem to work.

Thanks! I hope this is a local problem, but I guess it deserved a bug report,
as it causes serious data loss!

Bug#423063: Source package contains non-free IETF RFC/I-D

2007-05-09 Thread Hugo Santos

Hi Simon,

Thanks for the report. We'll upload a new version soon without this problem.

Hi!

This source package contains the following files from the
IETF under non-free license terms:

+pkg mrd6 ver 0.9.5-rev3-0.1
+ mrd6-0.9.5-rev3/src/docs/rfcs/rfc2858.txt
+ mrd6-0.9.5-rev3/src/docs/rfcs/rfc3569.txt

+ mrd6-0.9.5-rev3/src/docs/rfcs/draft-ietf-pim-sm-v2-new-11.txt

The license on RFC/I-Ds is not DFSG-free, see:
 * http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=199810
 * http://release.debian.org/removing-non-free-documentation
 * http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

The etch release policy says binary and source packages must each be free:
 * http://release.debian.org/etch_rc_policy.txt

The severity is serious, because this violates the Debian policy:
 * http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-archive.html#s-dfsg

There are (at least) three ways to fix this problem. In order of
preference:

1. Ask the author of the RFC to re-license the RFC under a free
license. A template for this e-mail request can be found at
   http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments

2. Remove the non-free material from the source, e.g., by re-packaging
the upstream archive and adding 'dfsg' to the Debian package
   version name.

3. Move the package to non-free.

General discussions are kindly requested to take place on debian-legal
or debian-devel in the thread with Subject: "Non-free IETF RFC/I-Ds in
source packages".

Thanks,
Simon

Bug#394139: kdebase misses most of keyboard layouts after upgrading

2006-10-20 Thread Adilson dos Santos Dantas
Package: kdebase
Version: 4:3.5.5a-2
Severity: critical
Tags: l10n
Justification: breaks unrelated software

After upgrading kdebase I cant use my keyboards dead keys (brazilian abnt2) with
kde and qt applications. Other applications (gtk, motif, etc) are still
working fine. So I checked the keyboard layout at kcontrol and there was
a few layouts: af, al, ad, ara, am az, bd, by, be, ba, in and us. There's
no Brazilian Layout and no deadkeys for use here(exept for non qt and
non kde software). This bug is similar to #382988 but all workarounds has been
failed. Please fix this bug.

Bug#391111: openoffice: Crashes when starting

2006-10-04 Thread Alex Henry Ribeiro dos Santos
Package: openoffice
Version: 2.0.4~rc2-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Outputs this after briefly showing the splash screen:

"
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice: line 252: 5520 Segmentation
fault "$sd_prog/$sd_binary" "$@"

** (process:5506): WARNING **: Unknown error forking main binary /
abnormal early exit ...
"

Happens when calling any of these binaries:

oocalc ooffice ooimpress ooweb
oodraw oofromtemplate ooo-wrapper oowriter

This have been happening also with earlier versions of oo.org for me.

Thanks in advance.

Bug#356769: Re^2: ndiswrapper-utils: Fails to detect manufaturer names in inf-file rendering unusable

2006-05-18 Thread Silvério Santos

Hi Andres,

wlagsall (generic Agere) is reported to have the driver installed.
wltos48 (special Toshiba Tecra 9000) is still an invalid driver.

Will test the next days though, as I had to change the AP to WEP due to
the lack of wpa_supplicant compatible drivers.

BTW: the command ndiswrapper reports "Error: no versions of ndiswrapper
found!", while ndiswrapper-1.8 works fine from the path since the update
to 1.16. But maybe this is subject of another bug report...

Best regards
Silvério
