Bug#968387: apparmor: Broken printing and printer autodiscovery
Package: apparmor Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable I installed lxc on a freshly installed debian 10 (standard iso + the tasks: desktop, kde, print-server, laptop). - The printer was not autodiscovered in the "Print" window of any program, and in the "Add printer" window of system-config-printer-settings. - Even after setting the device URI, print jobs did not make it to the printer and there were no info about toner levels, printer availability, etc. I did not touch apparmor, but aa-status said it was enforcing on a lot of programs, including /usr/sbin/{cupsd,cups-browsed}, so I ran aa-complain /usr/sbin/cupsd aa-complain /usr/sbin/cups-browsed Now, the printer was autodiscovered, but printing still did not work, so I did apt-get autopurge apparmor Now printing works fine, I have toner level info, etc.

Bug#773586: phoneuid: doesn't start or crashes during startup - probably due to problem in phonefsod
Package: phoneuid Version: 0.1+git20130505-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Dear Maintainer, This is sort of a continuation of #766114 which to me seems rightfully closed. There are four things to note in advance please: 1. I'm not sure whether phoneuid is the correct package to file this report against. It could be anywhere in this chain: fso-deviced - phonefsod - phoneuid - phoneui-apps 2. apt doesn't install recommends or suggests on this system by default: # cat /etc/apt/apt.conf APT::Install-Recommends 0; APT::Install-Suggests 0; 3. The automatic screen-blanking that's done by (I think) phonefsod works fine, however the lock screen with the slider (by phoneui-apps) doesn't come up. 4. I tested this first with sysvinit, then with systemd as the init system, but didn't see any differences. All of the following outputs are with systemd. After installing phoneui-apps and trying to start any of the apps (e.g. phoneui-quick-settings), no app window comes up. There's an strace output further down. The problem seems to be that phoneuid is either not starting or dying in the process: # cat phonefsod.log 2014.12.20 11:50:38.551544 [phonefsod] MESSAGE: phonefsod-0.1.0 is in startup mode as user(root) 2014.12.20 11:50:38.765655 [phonefsod] MESSAGE: Inhibiting suspend during startup phase (max 360s) 2014.12.20 11:51:03.876434 [phonefsod] WARNING: failed to connect to /org/freesmartphone/GSM/Device: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freesmartphone.ogsmd: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.TimedOut: Activation of org.freesmartphone.ogsmd timed out 2014.12.20 11:51:28.909052 [phonefsod] WARNING: failed to connect to /org/freesmartphone/GSM/Device: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freesmartphone.ogsmd: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.TimedOut: Activation of org.freesmartphone.ogsmd timed out 2014.12.20 11:51:53.955090 [phonefsod] WARNING: failed to connect to /org/freesmartphone/GSM/Device: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freesmartphone.ogsmd: Timeout was reached 2014.12.20 11:52:18.983082 [phonefsod] WARNING: failed to connect to /org/freesmartphone/GSM/Device: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freesmartphone.ogsmd: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.TimedOut: Activation of org.freesmartphone.ogsmd timed out 2014.12.20 11:52:44.015819 [phonefsod] WARNING: failed to connect to /org/freesmartphone/GSM/Device: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freesmartphone.ogsmd: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.TimedOut: Activation of org.freesmartphone.ogsmd timed out 2014.12.20 11:52:44.091402 [phonefsod] MESSAGE: !!! ouch, phoneuid is gone - telephony won't work anymore !!! /var/log/phoneuid.log was not created when the process was started during boot. Bug#724666: live-config: Removing kwalletd.desktop file makes kwallet unusable.
Package: live-config Version: 3.0.23-1 Severity: grave Tags: patch Justification: renders package unusable Dear Maintainer, *** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? Trying to create a wallet to store my passwords. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? - Started kwalletmanager and choosing File - New wallet ... - Provided a name and then nothing happened. * What was the outcome of this action? No wallet was created and therefor couldn't use it's functionality. * What outcome did you expect instead? That a wallet was created and I could store my passwords in it. If you would install ksshaskpass package that wouldn't work either, but it doesn't work on the standard kde image downloaded from either cdimage.debian.org or the newer one on live.debian.net (or a custom created image). This bug is reported from the image downloaded at: http://live.debian.net/cdimage/release/stable+nonfree/i386/iso-hybrid/debian-live-7.1-i386-kde-desktop+nonfree.iso To figure out what went wrong I started kwalletmanager from the command line and this is the output of it: user@debian:~$ kwalletmanager [1] 4758 user@debian:~$ QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave. QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Connecting to deprecated signal QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString) ^C [1]+ Donekwalletmanager Patch section: - if you download the kde-runtime-data package and install the debfile with 'dpkg -i debfile' the problem is resolved. - Reinstalling the kde-runtime-data would also fix this. With the help of the people on #debian-kde we tracked down the source of the problem: http://sources.debian.net/src/live-config/3.0.23-1/scripts/config/1060-kde-services?hl=68#L68 This error is also present in live-config version 4.0~a27-1: http://sources.debian.net/src/live-config/4.0~a27-1/components/1060-kde-services?hl=71#L71 It would be my suggestion to remove all those line 'disabling unnecessary KDE services' since they are NOT unnecessary, break functionality in KDE and in case of those which should prevent akonadi from starting both ineffective (akonadi is started anyway) and unwanted since akonadi is an important part of the KDE(-PIM) infrastructure. Removing those files/services is also against the philosophy of Debian Live as described in section 2.2.1 from the manual, especially this part: We will not change any packages. Whenever we need to change something, we will do that in coordination with its package maintainer in Debian. If you have any questions or want more information, feel free to ask. Bug#703946: general: OS freezes, but mouse and ping keeps working
Good morning. I'm really sorry for not providing enough information, but I'll do my best to reproduce the error and see what happens when using Chromium or Firefox at the same procedure. I didn't test the SSH either, and that's a good idea. I will enable the service and try to access it. Could you tell me what commands should I be entering on SSH access to return with good information? Thanks for the support.

Bug#427626: x11vnc: keyboard and mouse clicks do not get through anymore with last testing libcxorg
Package: x11vnc Version: 0.8.2-2 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Since I upgraded my testing distribution to the last libcxorg yesterday, x11vnc from testing does not seem to work anymore. When I run it, I can connect to the remote desktop but the on the local viewing machine the desktop itself does not get screen updates anymore. I am obviously using a VNC client (I tested several of them) on the viewing machine. Also, typing on the keyboard does not seem to have any effect, but keys do appear on the X11 console, and so do mouse clicks, etc. It seems to be just a screen update problem. I downloaded the latest x11vnc source 0.9.1 (and 0.9.2) from its project site and they both work as expected after I compiled them. Bug#360381: linux-image: root 2812 1930 0 14:00 ? 00:00:00 /USR/SBIN/CRON
Package: linux-image Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system Something is causing entries in ps ie. /USR/SBIN/CRON which increase in number over time. This condition does not allow a shutdown or reboot for resetting the system. The system must be powered off to recover. I have seen as many as 680 of these processes. Machine does not lock totally but some things do not work like su and starting a new ssh session. I can not log into the desktop after about 10 minutes after power off/on. I am eliminating programs one by one to determine which one may be the problem, however the larger issue is the inability to reboot and having to power off. The system should be recoverable and immune to a program creating hung/zombie processes. Also ps reports /USR/SBIN/CRON which does not exist in the system. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.4.25-1-386 Locale: LANG=en_US, LC_CTYPE=en_US (charmap=ISO-8859-1) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
