This has nothing to do with dpkg or apt-get. apt-get simply looks at
dependencies.

Although it's strange that removing mysql would remove all this stuff.
Someone needs to investigate.

2008-07-26 Thread Star Liu
Package: apt-get
Version: dpkg
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

I wanted to remove mysql-server, so i use this command:
StarLiuLenny64:~# apt-get remove --purge mysql-admin mysql-client-5.0
mysql-common mysql-gui-tools-common mysql-query-browser mysql-server-5.0

then it says:
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  apache2* apache2-mpm-worker* apache2-utils* apache2.2-common* gda2-mysql*
  gmysqlcc* libapache2-mod-mono* libapache2-mod-perl2* libapache2-mod-python*
  libaprutil1* libdbd-mysql-perl* libgda3-mysql* libgmyth0*
  libmysqlclient15off* libserf-0-0* libsvn1* mysql-admin* mysql-client-5.0*
  mysql-common* mysql-gui-tools-common* mysql-query-browser* mysql-server-5.0*
  subversion* totem* totem-plugins*
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 25 to remove and 95 not upgraded.
After this operation, 142MB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]?

i answered Y, and after the operation ended, i found my apache2 server is
removed! it's not i want!
