No other than some yet unknown sort of memory corruption or misplaced
instruction. libcomphelp4gcc3.so was mentioned to solve this when
replaced. What changed between -15 and -17 and its compilation?

Rene, are you going to FOSDEM? Maybe we could dive into that if not
solved by then.

Escept the fix for the hidden text problem nothing in the code did change
between -15 and -16 (where it arrived). But gcc got a upgrade :-(
(As said in a later post, compiling with an older gcc works...)

And it happens for ! Calc, too...

Rene, are you going to FOSDEM? Maybe we could dive into that if not

Sorry, no, at some other other conference in Berlin.

OK, that's what I already guessed from the backtrace. (as a lib in -core
crashes)

I have try to replace the openoffice.org-core 2.4.1-17 with the 2.4.1-15
(I have just copy all the files in the correct position ... I was trying
to find if there is a library 2.4.1-15 that solve the bug).

But this not solve the crash problems.
So the problem can be out of openoffice.org-core package.

? You mean with -15 installed it still crashes for you *with the same crash*?

Everywhere where I installed -15 the crash went away and when I installed -17

yes, I confirm this

also copying all -15 files resolve the bug.

I will try to find is there is a single library that solve the bug

Bug#513743: OO-calc bug

2009-02-02 Thread Neil Stewart
Just to report that I'm suffering from this bug too. I can replicate the
File-New-Spreadsheet and then click on Sheet 2. I also suffer other
crashes when working with spreadsheets, which I presume are related. For
example, I'm getting intermittent crashes when opening a second spreadsheet.
Grave indeed.

I'm running Lenny on a MacBook Pro (with the NVIDIA proprietary driver, but
I don't think that matters). I'm using version 1:2.4.1-17.

with dpkg -i openoffice.org-core-2.4.1-15

this solve the problem

I don't understand why a simple files copy do not do the same effect.

I just tried on my amd64 again; I can reproduce it with 2.4.1-17 on amd64 but
(just for the record) not with 3.0.1-1...

I just started calc with an empty spreadsheet, selected sheet 2 (or 3) and it
crashed. This happens with version -16 too, but with -15 everything works
 fine.

Ah, at least someone who says this happened with -16 already...

Hrm. I just did a testbuild in a testing chroot just for fun just to iron out
bugs in sid. And voilá, the compiled package works.

r...@mini:~/tmp$ rmadison gcc-4.3
   gcc-4.3 | 4.3.2-1.1 | testing | source, alpha, amd64, arm, armel,
hppa, i386, ia64, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc

   gcc-4.3 |4.3.3-3 | unstable | source, alpha, amd64, arm, armel,
i386, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, sparc

OTOH, that doesn't explain why a recently built 3.0.1 doesn't work.

Bug#513743: OO-calc bug

2009-01-31 Thread Jorge Barreiro
Hello,

I can confirm this bug. I'm using Lenny in an amd64 machine.
I use the openjdk java implementation ( I don't know if this matters) and have
a nvidia with the nouveau drivers ( I doubt this has something to do with
this bug).

I just started calc with an empty spreadsheet, selected sheet 2 (or 3) and it
crashed. This happens with version -16 too, but with -15 everything works
fine.
I also noted that just downgrading the package openoffice.org-core to the -15
version is enough to get rid of the bug (you don't need to downgrade the
openoffice.org-calc package).

Hope this helps.
